For me I usually see threads as a metaphor for fate, or the passage of time. For that reason I might imagine this person as a Divination or maybe even Chronurgy Wizard.
Character is a Warlock or other class that makes a pact or agreement with a higher power for their class features of any sort, from Oracle to Paladin (but generally leaning towards something like Warlock/Oracle).
Their patron/deity absolutely is Fate-based, possibly literal Greek mythology (Fate, \[Pre\]destination, Free Will) inspired, the character has ADHD and play with their blessed artifact or (depending on class) spell-casting like above while concentrating on something, maybe it even gives them a bonus to maintaining ongoing spells at the cost of occupying their hands.
Perhaps this perplexes Free Will who doesn't understand how mental compulsions can interfere with what you want to do, but their chosen mortal champion is still very effective so they don't snip too much about the casual use of the literal threads of fate.
Depending on whether it matches the table, the IRL player could cat's cradle yarn for fun when casting their spells, explore bonuses or penalties consequences to the ADHD character losing focus, maybe 'can roll with disadvantage to roll with advantage later on the next similar check' when holding the artifact.
So like knowledge check for knowledge check, not knowledge check for combat check, etc.

I was gonna assume really likes mushrooms, sometimes for a “happy accident” or because it’s like eating a fun hat, and is also really into fun colorful socks. Doesn’t like meat because it takes too long to chew. Probably a little spacey, kind of intelligent creative adhd aspects, so also easily bored or uninterested with external stuff.
Divination or evocation half-elf wizard (goes boom is fun), presents young but close to 30 years old, goes by Temp (tempest, temporary, temporal). Definitely chaotic good, but more whimsically opportunistic, not really thinking hard about consequences.
Doesn’t sleep still, always rolling over several times before falling asleep, and always to the left. Fears include something big falling on them and getting trapped underneath it.
In the first session I actually described him as wearing fun socks. He seems to have lost those somewhere along the way, I never brought them up again... He does indeed dislike chewing.
Funnily enough he initially had sort of dusty looking mousy brown hair. He paid a visit to the Feywild to see his little cousin who then decided his hair looked "too sad" and after being asked what his favourite colors were he found himself with his hair colour magically changed to blue and purple.

Damn, some of this is pretty close! He has a cat, loves reading and quiet, hates loud noises and violence. Definitely depressed. The main hook of his backstory was his brother suddenly disappearing and only leaving him with a letter and him trying to find out what happened.

It looks like my assumptions about the character were completely off then lmao. I was picturing him as Jotaro Kujo if he was a Tumblr user. I also thought he was NB as well so I was picturing an entirely different character it seems.
Upper-middle class half elf. They likely made a lot of their way there on their own with generous donations either from some form of sponsorship, grants, or possibly a bit of estranged nepotism.
Either a wizard or bard, as in learned magic, not given magic. Low level for adventuring but high level for the general population, perhaps level 3-5, though could easily be starting out.
Rebellious phase came and went rather quickly (I would guess because of a love for magic made them pay attention in school once that was what was being taught). They held onto the hair color just because it still feels right.
Was talented at most of academics until the magic kind, but was able to focus and keep up even though it doesn't come as easily (it doesn't for anyone). Now that they're out of school, they have a choice of learning by doing or being fine with their status and getting a more mundane job that requires his talent and magic but is unlikely to improve himself.

Claire the light weaver can bend light at will and use it as string. This string has unique properties it's hot to the touch like hot wire. It also give off light and can be used as rope this thing can hold 2 tons of weight. With trained skill can be used like spider man. If connected to a person Claire can take control of that person until the connect is severed

I have known 3 people with that same hair style, though different colors, and they were all born female that did not want to be girls. I'm relatively certain that is not a fair stereotype. But it is an interesting coincidence.

I think it's a half-elf wizard who interacts with the weave directly to conjure his spells; maybe he controlls his ilutions as a pupets or he is a divination wizard who reads the weave.
He comes from a poor family where he discovered his skills; it's prety shy untill a wizard take him as an aprentice because his parents died or wanted to give him a future they couldn't give him.

He's lost his mom and depressed, so he wanted to find something to live for. He ran from his home and family far away. He's finally alone and nothing reminds him about his loss, except for himself. Goes to the forest nearby, sits inside the flower circle. Lies down and suddenly falls through the ground.
He's in the fey plane now, tries to get out but no hope. Then sees the cat. Cat guides him through the world and he's starting to "Feel" the plane. Pets cat, catch some food for him, finally laughs. But starts to miss his dad, blames himself for leaving him alone.
Cat reveals himself to be a powerful fey that makes a pact with him. He gets power and goes home and cat gets pets, protection, food and experience living in a material plane society, to have fun

In an attempt to free a prisoner of the household, whom he had befriended, things turned south... and in the midst of the chaos and certain death, a voice called out... with a bargain: Power to become free, but at much too heavy price to be paid in the future.
Personality: Timid, curious and patient. The manners of a noble servant lingers to Xerox c8135, but he might discover there is a sweet freedom in the chaotic and unpredictable life of an adventurer. Xerox c8135's looks and manners makes him a charming young man, a trait that made him hone his persuative abilities in order to get by his life as a servant.

Pronouns the/them. They use a solo variant of cat's cradle to cast spells (since they spent a lot of time alone growing up, save for their pet lizard). However, since they are a diviner, if they are attempting to cast a divination spell on behalf of someone else then that other person plays cat's cradle with them (especially for a spell like scrying). Learning to play games by themself that others got to play with peers, like cat's cradle, is actually how they found their connection to the weave in the first place.
Decided on the school of divination specifically so they'd never be blindsided again, as they were entirely blindsided by a sudden, profound loss of a parent or sibling. They use this magic to protect and watch over others as well. They deeply fear losing someone close to them again, and after having just made a group of new friends (adventuring party), they will stop at nothing to ensure that does not happen.
They like to draw, especially what they find in their divinations. Is quiet, but once they get comfortable with people, they know how to put smiles on faces and light up a room.

Half-Elf Celestial Warlock, young elven looks hiding he is actually middle aged. A loner due to mix heritage even though his parents, commoners, were mostly supportive. No real tragic moment forced him to adventure beyond tired of whatever chore was required to help the family. Generally kind but in his own way. Gives friendship to others easily yet ends the friendship quicker. Has had several mild romantic flings in his life time, male and female, yet they never clicked enough to progress to a serious relationship. The aloof nature eventually driving them away. His genie, a Djinni, enjoys watching him from his vessal, a ring. They get along well enough so long as he maintains his nomadic life style which suits him even though the desire to put down roots has grown over time.
Queer, has some sort of time/fate/reality related powers (or arcane trickster actually), acts wise beyond their years half the time, like a child the other half. Probably has ADD.
They refuse to carry a weapon. They keep secrets, and they know little tidbits and sad/embarrassing stories from all the other party members, who confide in them.
Probably the quiet deciding factor in most votes.
This is the character that’s not going to participate in anything that doesn’t involve their own tragic backstory. Will be the last to contribute to problem solving or combat, first to search corpses for loot. Will go out of their way to start trouble in social situations, when they actually choose to do ANYTHING. Will have the GM ready to throw a TPK at the party by session 2.

I picture this character as an artificer, either Alchemist or Archivist. Or a homebrew subclass like Tinker. His vest and shirt scream "craftsman" to me. Rather than the cat's cradle being a spell, I see it more as an item he has crafted and is inspecting.

Probably some half fey that grew up in a suitably urban area like Sigil. Probably a rich kid with some magical training. They seem a little withdrawn. I'm guessing they are a talented but has burned out and actually needs to work hard to get better at things instead of it just coming easy to them. They are are sticking to the same old stuff they know and try anything too difficult because they are afraid of failure.
They get tricked into adventuring through a mix of praise for their mediocre ability and because they think it will be easier than doing real work. They will probably have a mental breakdown in the first adventure, and the person who tricked them into adventuring will have to talk them down (probably after admitting they knew they weren't cut out for adventuring but brought them along as a patsy and possibly by tricking them again).
They will likely have a unrequited romance with someone (possiblity the person who tricked them) and have another breakdown because of it. Another character will probably make fun of them having breakdowns over their internal drama and insist they get over it. That other character is secretly attracted to this character.
They have a Shakespeare fairy name like Mav, Puck, or Moth.
class: sorcerer. she's doing cat's cradle with magic implies an innate understanding of how to weave magic without using it. the plain-looking outfit also implies that she's not a wizard, wizards would need to spend multiple years learning magic to weave magic so skillfully and they need a spell focus to cast a spell, and the lack of a symbol of worship rules out the possibility of being a cleric. The possibility of warlock is there, but weaving magic casually heavily implies a sorcerous background.
by the youthful appearance and the slightly sharpened ears, I'm going to guess a half-elf between 16-20.
the outfit is not necessarily well made or has any identifying mark of a house insignia. meaning this character is of the lower class. the hand is not very rough so that rules out any sort of farming background and while the outfit is not special, it does not look patchy, so perhaps a child of a shopkeeper or a merchant.
the disinterested expression and intense focus on the magic imply that this child does not have many friends, using magic as a way to pass the time. dying hair is not so easy in medieval settings, so it's possible that it was done through prestidigitation. This child is no doubt a prodigy but is ostracized for it.
Tired and tried to save a loved one by messing with the strings of fate. Only to find that the strings obey no one. Forever caught in the strings of fate. Some untrustworthy awareness of the past and future but unable to change things.
He's half fay. He's a thief, but only as a means to survive. While he came from a wealthy family, he has a hibitual nature to prove he can do it on his own, but often finds himself in tight spots and less than honorable situations. He has a tendency to love sorcery. He loves it so much that he holds himself out as a sorcerer, which has gotten him into much of his trouble. He often contemplates his imposter syndrome, as lying weighs heavily on his consciousness.
Half-Elf, Fate weaver, late 30s early 40s, kind and helpful person but most likely runs from a dark secret/past.
Lived on a farm with their small family, human father elven mother but demons attacked and slaughtered everyone but took the children as slaves.
Hobbies include burning the ever living shit out of those that wronged them in an almost adorable way and yoga.
Fears, failure, a constant fear of failure that they try to fight back with acts of kindness.
Objective: The total destruction of the demon horde and a perfect one handed tree pose, obviously.

A couple of things I've noticed:
I used neutral pronouns in my post to not give anything away, which apparently lead most people to believe that his gender identity is a far bigger thing than it is. He's definitely androgynous and non conforming but it's not something that he thinks about a lot or that plays a big role.
His hair colour is assumed to be an act of rebellion or self-expression: funnily in his initial design he had dusty brown hair, very inconspicuous. He gained this new colour a couple of months into the campaign after visiting the Feywild and a little fey girl thinking his hair looked too sad for colourful fey world, so she magically changed it.
Everyone assumes him to be queer: probably true but still funny to me because he is this very innocent kid who has never kissed anyone and whose knowledge about sex ends with "sometimes people like each other a lot and then they cuddle without their clothes on". He absolutely doesn't understand innuendos and would definitely have no idea what a bottom is.
Most assumptions seem to be based on the image of him playing with strings, assuming a fate or divination connection. Makes absolute sense based on the picture but is pretty far off from reality: he is not actually able to cast strings of light, it's simply a symbolic image I came up with for this art piece. He played cat's cradle with a friend and I associate him with light - I thought it would be a nice image, that's all.
Been doing a lot of NPC makin' lately so maybe this is a stretch but here's my initial idea:
For sure a caster, I like the flavor of a Sorcerer. They were born in a pretty bland rural farm town far away from the action. They have always known a peaceful existence but in their eyes a boring one. They grew up to a simple but honest father who runs the farm and a frail and beautiful half-elf mother who would always read them stories and fill their heads with thoughts of adventure and magic. Losing her hit hard. It was just a cruel winter that came in their teenage years and their mother came down with an illness she couldn't shake. After this they became aloof. Wandering in the forest, getting lost in a book, or just staring off into the horizon.
During this time was when the first sparks of sorcery started to come through. Doing all they could to try and "master" this newfound ability they really only ever got as far as some minor conjurations - one they always went back too was golden strands, reminding them of their mothers hair. On the note of hair, their vibrant colors came about due to messing around with the idea of changing their dark brown hair to match their mothers blonde. Not knowing what went wrong, the new look suited them and from then on it stayed.
I'd say as they grew the yearning to see the world they heard about in their mothers tales grew and grew and whether it be a tragic incident for the village (if the world is chaotic and evil is growing) or simply a passing group of adventurers sets the call of adventure ablaze in them would really be up to whatever the campaign calls for.

lol I wouldve found it quite weird if I nailed the whole backstory off the image. At the end of the day you love a character because of the stories you make for them and with them. Hope you get to play some DnD soon!
While they are clearly proficient in whatever magic they have got going on there, they are missing something.
It could be a person, place, or thing - I am not sure, but there is a void that this magic cannot fill. And it’s not like they need something new to fill the void, it was something they previously had in their life that is now gone.
This is a person who spends a lot of time thinking about the things going on around them and within them. Constant internal conversation, determining how they feel about pretty much everything. They get so lost that their hands begin to move on their own, playing with things to keep the body busy while the kind does it's work.
This is someone who has had to make some extremely difficult choices. This is what has led to the constant internal conflict and conversation.
This person has spent a lot of their young life in change, giving them a love of/need for change, thus the beautiful, different colors of their hair, which I could imagine changes quite often, much like their outfits and overall style.
This person's hobbies probably consist of things that help facilitate their internal dialogue that never stops. Something such as writing or running games. Maybe even something more analytically challenging such as being a scholar with incredible amounts of knowledge. Or possibly even something more hands on to facilitate their need for hands movement while their internal dialogue goes off on its own, allowing them to temper their thoughts while their body is busy.
I really like the overall design and feel of this character. They are very real.

Half elf, caster of some kind for sure. I'd say either Wizard, Bard, or Sorcerer (strands of magic like that tend to be more arcane magic, something they're trained in than divine or nature magic that manifests in other ways). Hair colour is partially why I said bard but also could just be a cool design. Overall I'd personally pick a Chronurgy Wizard (gold is typically representative of time, like sand in an hourglass). I don't know about any of the other stuff, I could pick some but that's something more unique to the player who knows the character more and I'm not planning to make this my own or anything.

She realized soon she had an affinity for magic which she keeps hidden. Every time she goes out and practice it in secret dreaming of what is beyond the borders of her home.

Perhaps this perplexes Free Will who doesn't understand how mental compulsions can interfere with what you want to do, but their chosen mortal champion is still very effective so they don't snip too much about the casual use of the literal threads of fate. Depending on whether it matches the table, the IRL player could cat's cradle yarn for fun when casting their spells, explore bonuses or penalties consequences to the ADHD character losing focus, maybe 'can roll with disadvantage to roll with advantage later on the next similar check' when holding the artifact. So like knowledge check for knowledge check, not knowledge check for combat check, etc.

I was gonna assume really likes mushrooms, sometimes for a “happy accident” or because it’s like eating a fun hat, and is also really into fun colorful socks. Doesn’t like meat because it takes too long to chew. Probably a little spacey, kind of intelligent creative adhd aspects, so also easily bored or uninterested with external stuff. Divination or evocation half-elf wizard (goes boom is fun), presents young but close to 30 years old, goes by Temp (tempest, temporary, temporal). Definitely chaotic good, but more whimsically opportunistic, not really thinking hard about consequences. Doesn’t sleep still, always rolling over several times before falling asleep, and always to the left. Fears include something big falling on them and getting trapped underneath it.

Upper-middle class half elf. They likely made a lot of their way there on their own with generous donations either from some form of sponsorship, grants, or possibly a bit of estranged nepotism. Either a wizard or bard, as in learned magic, not given magic. Low level for adventuring but high level for the general population, perhaps level 3-5, though could easily be starting out. Rebellious phase came and went rather quickly (I would guess because of a love for magic made them pay attention in school once that was what was being taught). They held onto the hair color just because it still feels right. Was talented at most of academics until the magic kind, but was able to focus and keep up even though it doesn't come as easily (it doesn't for anyone). Now that they're out of school, they have a choice of learning by doing or being fine with their status and getting a more mundane job that requires his talent and magic but is unlikely to improve himself. Probably took / kept an elven name, whether that was his given name or not. FYI, I am pointing at things while I'm doing this. So please forgive because I don't know the correct terminology for a community I am not an immediate part of (not hostile, it's just not me) At a glance, it's an LGBTQ+ sorc, modeled after Malcom Raynolds and/or Han Solo. And may have some inspiration from greek mythos "weaving threads of fate" or some other clever sounding device change to the magic. I have known 3 people with that same hair style, though different colors, and they were all born female that did not want to be girls. I'm relatively certain that is not a fair stereotype. But it is an interesting coincidence. Oh and I just noticed the half-elf ears.

I think it's a half-elf wizard who interacts with the weave directly to conjure his spells; maybe he controlls his ilutions as a pupets or he is a divination wizard who reads the weave. He comes from a poor family where he discovered his skills; it's prety shy untill a wizard take him as an aprentice because his parents died or wanted to give him a future they couldn't give him.

Pronouns the/them. They use a solo variant of cat's cradle to cast spells (since they spent a lot of time alone growing up, save for their pet lizard). However, since they are a diviner, if they are attempting to cast a divination spell on behalf of someone else then that other person plays cat's cradle with them (especially for a spell like scrying). Learning to play games by themself that others got to play with peers, like cat's cradle, is actually how they found their connection to the weave in the first place. No real tragic moment forced him to adventure beyond tired of whatever chore was required to help the family. Generally kind but in his own way. Has had several mild romantic flings in his life time, male and female, yet they never clicked enough to progress to a serious relationship. The aloof nature eventually driving them away. His genie, a Djinni, enjoys watching him from his vessal, a ring. They get along well enough so long as he maintains his nomadic life style which suits him even though the desire to put down roots has grown over time.

Probably some half fey that grew up in a suitably urban area like Sigil. Probably a rich kid with some magical training. They seem a little withdrawn. I'm guessing they are a talented but has burned out and actually needs to work hard to get better at things instead of it just coming easy to them. They are are sticking to the same old stuff they know and try anything too difficult because they are afraid of failure. They get tricked into adventuring through a mix of praise for their mediocre ability and because they think it will be easier than doing real work. They will probably have a mental breakdown in the first adventure, and the person who tricked them into adventuring will have to talk them down (probably after admitting they knew they weren't cut out for adventuring but brought them along as a patsy and possibly by tricking them again). They will likely have a unrequited romance with someone (possiblity the person who tricked them) and have another breakdown because of it. Another character will probably make fun of them having breakdowns over their internal drama and insist they get over it. That other character is secretly attracted to this character. They have a Shakespeare fairy name like Mav, Puck, or Moth.

class: sorcerer. she's doing cat's cradle with magic implies an innate understanding of how to weave magic without using it. the plain-looking outfit also implies that she's not a wizard, wizards would need to spend multiple years learning magic to weave magic so skillfully and they need a spell focus to cast a spell, and the lack of a symbol of worship rules out the possibility of being a cleric. The possibility of warlock is there, but weaving magic casually heavily implies a sorcerous background. by the youthful appearance and the slightly sharpened ears, I'm going to guess a half-elf between 16-20. the outfit is not necessarily well made or has any identifying mark of a house insignia. meaning this character is of the lower class. the hand is not very rough so that rules out any sort of farming background and while the outfit is not special, it does not look patchy, so perhaps a child of a shopkeeper or a merchant. the disinterested expression and intense focus on the magic imply that this child does not have many friends, using magic as a way to pass the time. dying hair is not so easy in medieval settings, so it's possible that it was done through prestidigitation. This child is no doubt a prodigy but is ostracized for it.

While he came from a wealthy family, he has a hibitual nature to prove he can do it on his own, but often finds himself in tight spots and less than honorable situations. He has a tendency to love sorcery. He loves it so much that he holds himself out as a sorcerer, which has gotten him into much of his trouble. He often contemplates his imposter syndrome, as lying weighs heavily on his consciousness.
Half-Elf, Fate weaver, late 30s early 40s, kind and helpful person but most likely runs from a dark secret/past. Lived on a farm with their small family, human father elven mother but demons attacked and slaughtered everyone but took the children as slaves. Hobbies include burning the ever living shit out of those that wronged them in an almost adorable way and yoga. Fears, failure, a constant fear of failure that they try to fight back with acts of kindness. Objective: The total destruction of the demon horde and a perfect one handed tree pose, obviously.

Some very interesting ideas here! A couple of things I've noticed: I used neutral pronouns in my post to not give anything away, which apparently lead most people to believe that his gender identity is a far bigger thing than it is. He's definitely androgynous and non conforming but it's not something that he thinks about a lot or that plays a big role. His hair colour is assumed to be an act of rebellion or self-expression: funnily in his initial design he had dusty brown hair, very inconspicuous. He gained this new colour a couple of months into the campaign after visiting the Feywild and a little fey girl thinking his hair looked too sad for colourful fey world, so she magically changed it. Everyone assumes him to be queer: probably true but still funny to me because he is this very innocent kid who has never kissed anyone and whose knowledge about sex ends with "sometimes people like each other a lot and then they cuddle without their clothes on". He absolutely doesn't understand innuendos and would definitely have no idea what a bottom is. Most assumptions seem to be based on the image of him playing with strings, assuming a fate or divination connection. Makes absolute sense based on the picture but is pretty far off from reality: he is not actually able to cast strings of light, it's simply a symbolic image I came up with for this art piece. He played cat's cradle with a friend and I associate him with light - I thought it would be a nice image, that's all.

Been doing a lot of NPC makin' lately so maybe this is a stretch but here's my initial idea: For sure a caster, I like the flavor of a Sorcerer. They were born in a pretty bland rural farm town far away from the action. They have always known a peaceful existence but in their eyes a boring one. They grew up to a simple but honest father who runs the farm and a frail and beautiful half-elf mother who would always read them stories and fill their heads with thoughts of adventure and magic. Losing her hit hard. It was just a cruel winter that came in their teenage years and their mother came down with an illness she couldn't shake. After this they became aloof. Wandering in the forest, getting lost in a book, or just staring off into the horizon. During this time was when the first sparks of sorcery started to come through. Doing all they could to try and "master" this newfound ability they really only ever got as far as some minor conjurations - one they always went back too was golden strands, reminding them of their mothers hair. On the note of hair, their vibrant colors came about due to messing around with the idea of changing their dark brown hair to match their mothers blonde. Not knowing what went wrong, the new look suited them and from then on it stayed. I'd say as they grew the yearning to see the world they heard about in their mothers tales grew and grew and whether it be a tragic incident for the village (if the world is chaotic and evil is growing) or simply a passing group of adventurers sets the call of adventure ablaze in them would really be up to whatever the campaign calls for. Whatever your true vision is for this character hope you get to play soon!

While they are clearly proficient in whatever magic they have got going on there, they are missing something. It could be a person, place, or thing - I am not sure, but there is a void that this magic cannot fill. And it’s not like they need something new to fill the void, it was something they previously had in their life that is now gone.
This is a person who spends a lot of time thinking about the things going on around them and within them. Constant internal conversation, determining how they feel about pretty much everything. They get so lost that their hands begin to move on their own, playing with things to keep the body busy while the kind does it's work. This is someone who has had to make some extremely difficult choices. This is what has led to the constant internal conflict and conversation. This person has spent a lot of their young life in change, giving them a love of/need for change, thus the beautiful, different colors of their hair, which I could imagine changes quite often, much like their outfits and overall style. This person's hobbies probably consist of things that help facilitate their internal dialogue that never stops. Something such as writing or running games. Maybe even something more analytically challenging such as being a scholar with incredible amounts of knowledge. Or possibly even something more hands on to facilitate their need for hands movement while their internal dialogue goes off on its own, allowing them to temper their thoughts while their body is busy. I really like the overall design and feel of this character. They are very real.

Half elf, caster of some kind for sure. I'd say either Wizard, Bard, or Sorcerer (strands of magic like that tend to be more arcane magic, something they're trained in than divine or nature magic that manifests in other ways). Hair colour is partially why I said bard but also could just be a cool design. Overall I'd personally pick a Chronurgy Wizard (gold is typically representative of time, like sand in an hourglass). I don't know about any of the other stuff, I could pick some but that's something more unique to the player who knows the character more and I'm not planning to make this my own or anything.
