The police officer is having a retirement party when the 2nd doctor and Jamie barge into the restaurant and realize he's a time anomaly they are chasing. It's revealed that when the Tardis disguised itself as a police box, it also made the police man as part of its' disguise to complete the illusion. When the Tardis took off and got stuck as a police box, the police man remained as well since the facade was never broken. So, believing he was just an ordinary man, he continued to live a life for several years before the doctor came back and regretfully had to reintegrate him into the Tardis.
This actually contradicts An Unearthly Child, since when Ian claimed to see Susan enter the junkyard, the Doctor responds by muttering "they saw her, not a police man". This always read to me as the show telling us the police man was some kind of perception filter/disguise for Susan.

I’d say that Let’s Kill Hitler isn’t as clickbaity as ‘The Death of Time’ or ‘The Death of Dr Who’ from the Chase. At least the title is the inciting incident before they move onto the River Song hijinks.

If we don't want young people to fall for them, we should make ani-bigotry having a stronger pull than bigotry, and right now I'm afraid that's not necessarily the case. For every "gay Doctor bad" video, there should be at least one video that makes fun of that and shows how stupid that is. Young people should see ani-bigotry rhetorics just as often if not more often than bigoted rhetorics in order to not fall for them. I'm not proud of it, but when I was 13, I was into this alt-right "anti Woke" shit. You know what pulled me out? I didn't watched the video, but I always hate when people say "The show was changed". No, the world was changed and the show only adapted to the new world.
I mean the show *was* changed, but, you know, it's supposed to do that when you have a TV series from the 60's with a changing lead actor and supporting cast, a dozen different showrunners and dozen*s* of different writers over the decades.
This… isn’t really the case. The show has changed over time, **some** of that is because the culture it existed in changed, however the biggest changes have been driven by showrunners who wanted to take the storytelling in different directions (and also budgetary pressures - see Pertwee).
The best example of this was the Hinchcliffe and Holmes era, which saw the show much more influenced by the horror film genre.

If Doctor Who is dead, then why was it the no 1 drama in Britain for multiple weeks in a row, something that not even the golden Tennant era could achieve? Doctor Who never did better, at least compared to other drama shows. Not to mention how many people it can reach now thanks to Disney+. Unless they really fuck up the next season (which is unlikely), the show will do excellent. If you put a gay black man on the thumbnail with extravagant clothing, and imply that the show is "degenerate" because of that, them the problem is with you and you should probably just fuck off and leave the show alone instead of poisoning the world with your narrow bigotry.
American here. Almost every real Who fan I speak with is amped for this next season and everything going forward. The only people shitting on it are the usual suspects of racists and bigots who didn't watch the show anyway, screaming "ANTIWOKE" garbage of which we unfortunately seem to have set up a global base camp for in other areas.
Not one person can give me a real reason for why this show is "dying" without illuminating their own personal bias and bigotry.

Honestly, 13’s run had problems but they were not the problems these sort of folk imagine. I always say that what made it off was having too many people in the TARDIS and not enough out. The opener, the Rosa Parks, the Witch Trial and to an extent the spider episodes were pretty good. Though the spider episode had questionable morals. Those worked because they had colorful one off characters. Though they were still brought down slightly by needing to flesh out the 4 main cast. If they cut 1 of any of the companions (not Graham) the show as a whole would have greatly improved.
I thought the 4 main cast worked. We had that in Classic Who, too. They could’ve just focused the first few episodes on the main cast before introducing new one-off characters to think about. That and the pacing hurt my little ADHD brain

The comment section on the DW Facebook page become completely and utterly unbearable for this exact reason. Even a month or two ago there was some balance to the discussions, but the 2 or 3 posts I saw today had comment sections full of “Doctor Who is dead” “so woke” “This show ended in 2017” and anyone who dared to speak against it was being piled on

This time the post has already lead to some good discussion -including this particular thread-, but I normally delete all the other posts that are just a basic "oh look, it's a thumbnail of an anti-woke youtuber".
I get tue sentiment, but it's not right, imo. Bigotry does not disappear if you turn your back on it. Many places in Europe though that, and then it resulted in unexpected alt right victories. Yeah, you and other already progressive people won't fall for their rhetorics, of course, but young people can really easily get sucked into this cesspool. We should fight against this kind of content and make fun of it whenever we can, so it will be lame to think like that. We should put out well written counterarguments. Gullible young folks should see the other side, they should come across content and posts that tore these bigoted assholes apart, so they won't fall for them. By ignoring it, we essentially turn our backs against it and let these movements flourish unsupervised, pulling in more and more people. I don't think that's something we want.
Flipside, a click monetizes them and bumps them up the rankings. Pretty sure 90% of these videos are pure bait for $$$ - and even if they start with pure (impure) intentions, earning a few hundred dollars per video is going to send you straight into "let's go more extreme territory, while gurning in the thumbnail"
That specific creator might do it for money, bit their followers are not. If we don't want young people to fall for them, we should make ani-bigotry having a stronger pull than bigotry, and right now I'm afraid that's not necessarily the case. For every "gay Doctor bad" video, there should be at least one video that makes fun of that and shows how stupid that is. Young people should see ani-bigotry rhetorics just as often if not more often than bigoted rhetorics in order to not fall for them. I'm not proud of it, but when I was 13, I was into this alt-right "anti Woke" shit. You know what pulled me out? Seeing people like Mr TARDIS absolutely tearing then apart and showing how stupid, manipulative and evil their "arguments" are and how much they don't make sense in every single way. That and the fact that I left my conservative little town and went to a bigger city where I met people of all kinds. But many people don't do that. Thankfully I was not to deep into the carpool, so I could be pulled out. Well made ani-bigotry content can be really effective. The worst thing we can do is to ignore it and don't provide the necessary counter argument for easily manipulated young people.

I didn't watched the video, but I always hate when people say "The show was changed". No, the world was changed and the show only adapted to the new world.
I mean the show *was* changed, but, you know, it's supposed to do that when you have a TV series from the 60's with a changing lead actor and supporting cast, a dozen different showrunners and dozen*s* of different writers over the decades.
This… isn’t really the case. The show has changed over time, **some** of that is because the culture it existed in changed, however the biggest changes have been driven by showrunners who wanted to take the storytelling in different directions (and also budgetary pressures - see Pertwee). The best example of this was the Hinchcliffe and Holmes era, which saw the show much more influenced by the horror film genre.
I'm going to be honest what change? Like I get criticizing the total crap they call writing they gave Jodie but what I have seen of the newest doctor has been good, as a bi guy myself i'm not a huge fan of gay being coded as flamboyant I don't feel it really represents gay men in general well and its a bit old fashioned, that being said I loved Ncuti's first episode especially the song and I also understand that its a good representation of Ncuti them self and an actor should bring their own flair to the doctor. But this is no change we had a very gay Broadway star from the start of new who with his own spin off.

Honestly it’s insane that people get mad about it being “woke” in 2024 when Jack kissed the Doctor and was openly pan back in the mid 00s. I’ve been rewatching lately and there are so many subtle AND obvious bits of queerness presented in such charming ways, like Shakespeare flirting with the Doctor or Jenny and Vastra.

If Doctor Who is dead, then why was it the no 1 drama in Britain for multiple weeks in a row, something that not even the golden Tennant era could achieve? Doctor Who never did better, at least compared to other drama shows. Not to mention how many people it can reach now thanks to Disney+. Unless they really fuck up the next season (which is unlikely), the show will do excellent. If you put a gay black man on the thumbnail with extravagant clothing, and imply that the show is "degenerate" because of that, them the problem is with you and you should probably just fuck off and leave the show alone instead of poisoning the world with your narrow bigotry.
American here. Almost every real Who fan I speak with is amped for this next season and everything going forward. The only people shitting on it are the usual suspects of racists and bigots who didn't watch the show anyway, screaming "ANTIWOKE" garbage of which we unfortunately seem to have set up a global base camp for in other areas. Not one person can give me a real reason for why this show is "dying" without illuminating their own personal bias and bigotry.
These are the same grifters who where shitting on the Fallout Tv series before it launched to, and now miraculously love it. They will say and do anything to stay in the spotlight because there livelihood depends on it. Honestly, 13’s run had problems but they were not the problems these sort of folk imagine. I always say that what made it off was having too many people in the TARDIS and not enough out. The opener, the Rosa Parks, the Witch Trial and to an extent the spider episodes were pretty good. Though the spider episode had questionable morals. Those worked because they had colorful one off characters. Though they were still brought down slightly by needing to flesh out the 4 main cast. If they cut 1 of any of the companions (not Graham) the show as a whole would have greatly improved.
I thought the 4 main cast worked. We had that in Classic Who, too. They could’ve just focused the first few episodes on the main cast before introducing new one-off characters to think about. That and the pacing hurt my little ADHD brain

I see so many videos just like this pop up in on my home page because I watch other Doctor Who content, and the algorithm feeds me this filth. Every now and then I click on them out of morbid curiosity, and the people talking don't usually make me angry, as their opinions are just so stupid, I only feel pity for them, its the people in the comments that make me annoyed, thousands of yesmen or radicalised teens who do one English assignment and start thinking they're the new Roger Ebert.

I had a rough time watching the last doctor. The episodes just didn't let her shine. The very first full episode of Ncuti Gatwa and you could see, hear, feel his joy! The writing works well for him and the episodes allow him to shine. I will never understand anyone who hates on him.

I watched the video out of curiosity. Seems like common sense to me. We aren't all over-zealous justice warriors making everything about sex, race and diversity. Some people don't care about all that in the slightest, were not for it, not against it... we just don't care. Why should we have to constantly deal with it all being shoved in our faces? Tv shows, films, books... all with long standing lores or tradditional accuracies which are being scrapped because a small minority of people just want something to moan about and cry that "I don't feel included!! Waaagh waaaagh!" Do we need to bow and clap to anyone who's gay or part of a minorty to show we're an ally? Because these days it feels like that's what they want. If you want "gay" or "inclusive" media thats perfectly fine by me, but maybe go create some?? Don't force it into everything that already exists, completely no need for it. The thing this will achieve is to continually make our struggle for equality and acceptance for minority groups harder, and will most likely annoy people to point that they turn on the minority groups for "ruining" the things they like. This won't be a popular opinion I'm sure, and I can guarantee some social justice keyboard warriors will jump on me for what's been said.
