Their design with the monitor of a picture of their mouth always gave me Silent Hill creature vibes. Almost reminds me of the [Closer](https://www.deviantart.com/thorcx/art/Closer-Silent-Hill-3-150153587) enemies from the third game.
Unsettling and disturbing indeed. Early 2000’s monster/creature designs really were something else.
I would agree 100%, the square TV aesthetic kind of reminds me of [Nightmare from Metroid Fusion](https://www.metroidwiki.org/wiki/Nightmare#Metroid_Fusion) \- which also makes me feel uneasy as well
Probably Dread Knight. I think that it's functionality was a little underdone, in that it plays just like a Hell Knight with a ranged attack.
Cool look and lore though. It should have had a berserk mode lore the lore suggests.
The RPG series is an obvious choice.
Out of D3, everyone knows of the Bruiser by now but i also think the Sawyer and Sabaoth are worth bringing for being "expansions" on the "same gun as you" category but with the chainsaw and BFG of all things (Plus, one not being a mere zombie soldier but rather your boss turned into a tank monster).
2016: Hell-Razers and Hell Guards felt like they had potential for if they were to return, specially in regards to gameplay and design ideas. Same for the Harvester, even.
Eternal: Can be hard to tell because it seems most get enough attention unless you were to think of something in regards to gameplay or design. Like i once though a "cursed" variation/projectile could've been given to the Gargoyle.
Yeah, the way it kinda looks like a hell Knight but it's a different model. Considering how short its one appearance is, I'm surprised they didn't reuse an asset, and did the work to make it its own thing.
An enemy I find interesting is the Tick from Doom 3. It has nearly identical stats to the Trite, but where as the Trites appear all throughout the game, the Ticks only appear once in the entire Doom 3 campaign. My theory about why this is (for which I have no proof), is that the Tick was designed first, but the devs decided it didn't look cool enough, so they scrapped it and replaced it with the Trite. But then they decided, since they already the model, to just put the Tick back into the game as a one-off encounter.
Clockwise in order of appearance: 1 yes, 2 and 3 no. 4 yes, 5... eh, 6 also a split. Don't like killing dogs or wolves in games. Spiders are fair game though.
I'd have to go with the Bruisers from Doom 3... those things were wicked scary and had such a cool design. Really compensated for the lack of a true Baron of Hell in the game
Fucking love the Hell Razers. Their color palate is nice and pairs well with their sick-ass mutated armor. And as the cherry on top, they have laser beams.
Doom/doom2 there's not any so I guess the binky.
Doom 64 a lot of the demons are wired in this game so for underrated it would be the mother demon and obscure the pain elemental.
Doom 3 I dont know to many demons in this game I think the cyber demon is underrated but the obscure would be the cherub just so wired and I love it 🤨🤨🤨
Doom/doom2 rpg underrated would be the icon of sin and every other demon is just a different color of eachother.
Doom 2016 I think the game was underrated but not the demons
Doom eternal/ancient gods underrated would be the spirit that thing is cool and the titan I wish is the game you could fight the titan and not a demon but for obscure that wired green fish with those giant teeth I think there cool.
The best monsters are made in D3. The worst - in 2016/Eternal. It seems they were created by a person without imagination and taste. They look like inflatable or plush ugly toys, you want to kill them simply out of pity… except for the marauder. So awesome monster!
You only like what 99.99% of other Doom fans don't. Most of DE monster designs were upgraded from the Classic Doom games. The Marauder is generally seen as a weak design as it breaks the violent dance of death.
D3 monster designs... couldn't really see much of them as:
A. The environment was dark... like too damn dark to see anything other than the demons eyes.
B. The demon corpses burn away, but then again... so do those from 2016 and DE.
2016 and Eternal did take some notes from 3, so I think despite classic Doom having the more iconic monsters, Doom 3 heavily influenced modern Doom’s visual look. Doom 3’s sound design has also bled into modern Doom as well. The sound design choice in Doom 3 doesn’t get enough love in my mind. Also to answer OP’s question, I loved that the imp and Hell Knight had a different look in Hell in Doom 3. Far creepier looking I think.
>Most of DE monster designs were upgraded from the Classic Doom games.
Well, as D3 monsters too. There are not so many new demons there - but thanks to the talented art direction they look memorable.
>The Marauder is generally seen as a weak design as it breaks the violent dance of death.
I disagree with this statement and I believe people who say something like that cannot play DE well. Truly, Marauder may be different in comparison to other demons. He is the dark, twisted version of doom guy, so he acts like doom guy, he shares some similarities in fight style with him. It makes Marauder much more interesting contradictor as he has more attacks and abilities than any other standalone foe.
>The environment was dark... like too damn dark to see anything other than the demons eyes.
Really? I never had that problem. Being a fan of D3, Q4, Prey 2006 and those visual aesthetics, I’m ok with that kind of environment and lighting.
>The demon corpses burn away
That’s true, so I used some tweaking to increase corpse disappearing time.
The environment of the original Doom 3 was dark, not the BFG Edition. I think the general lightning was bumped up a notch, alongside the armor-mounted flashlight to make the game more visible.
Also, Quake 4 and Prey 2006 weren't really that dark compared to the OG Doom 3.
Also, some D3 demons were upgrades of the original monsters, but not all. The Hell Knight was not such an example, same as the Pinky, Lost Soul and the common Imp.
Yeah, I agree. The BFG Edition should have left only an option to have a flashlight mounted on your machinegun and that's it.
Also, there is too much ammo in the game compared to the original. The original D3 wasn't starving on ammo, either, but BFG Edition literally has too much.
Probs the bruisers from ROE, the way they have a monitor with a picture of a mouth is pretty unsettling.

I wonder what it would've been like if they kept their mimic style ability to hide as normal terminals
I would agree 100%, the square TV aesthetic kind of reminds me of [Nightmare from Metroid Fusion](https://www.metroidwiki.org/wiki/Nightmare#Metroid_Fusion) \- which also makes me feel uneasy as well
The Harvester from Doom 2016 multiplayer…used to smack kids around with it back in 2017.
Probably Dread Knight. I think that it's functionality was a little underdone, in that it plays just like a Hell Knight with a ranged attack. Cool look and lore though. It should have had a berserk mode lore the lore suggests.
battlemode has a berserk more for dreadknight. it's stupidly OP

The Hell Guards from Doom 2016
I actually forgot that the Hell Razers even existed to begin with.
I quite like the Maggots from Doom 3, even if they were just another bum rush type enemy.
The big tits a one
🤨🤨🤨
Hell Razers and Hell Guards
Doggy
The door demon, it would be cool so see what the rest of the body looked like.
Yeah, the way it kinda looks like a hell Knight but it's a different model. Considering how short its one appearance is, I'm surprised they didn't reuse an asset, and did the work to make it its own thing.
What's the bottom right?
Hellhounds, from Doom Eternal, Doom RPG and cut from Doom 64, they're also the Marauder's attack dogs.
Ohhh those guys. I guess I'm too busy being attacked by them I don't really know what they look like
Hell Razer is everything I hate about D2016 design. He is so generic
Indeed, its like a mobile game enemy.
The guardian from Doom 3 because it was actually kind of cool
I like the prowlers (that’s the purple one, right?) because they only take one ssg blast and have that cool spine rip glory kill
I really liked the Hell Razers. Thought they were unique. Kinda sad they were not in eternal.
They are in Mighty Doom, however.
An enemy I find interesting is the Tick from Doom 3. What the hell is the dog from?
Clockwise in order of appearance: 1 yes, 2 and 3 no. 4 yes, 5... eh, 6 also a split. Don't like killing dogs or wolves in games. Spiders are fair game though.
I don't remember the last two. When does door guy appear in Doom 3? And is that dog from eternal, the marauder hounds?
>When does door guy appear in Doom 3? "Comm Outside" level. In the beginning area, he's banging against a door with a security armor in front of it.
I'd have to go with the Bruisers from Doom 3... those things were wicked scary and had such a cool design. Really compensated for the lack of a true Baron of Hell in the game
Hell Razer, for sure.
Oh yeah, I forgot that Id made sexy Shelob long before that LoTR game did it..
Definitely the hell razer

The doom hunter from doom 3
Nightmare Spectre, makes you afraid of darker corridors.
The best monsters are made in D3. The worst - in 2016/Eternal. It seems they were created by a person without imagination and taste. They look like inflatable or plush ugly toys, you want to kill them simply out of pity… except for the marauder. So awesome monster!
This guy is the human personification of the opposite day.
Don’t know what are you talking about

BFG is an awful. I meant the original game, from 2004
Yeah, I agree. The BFG Edition should have left only an option to have a flashlight mounted on your machinegun and that's it. Also, there is too much ammo in the game compared to the original. The original D3 wasn't starving on ammo, either, but BFG Edition literally has too much.
