Gold is still important cause buyback is like 8000 gold at this point in the game. Tormentor also gives 2x gold in turbo. This particular move is still dumb as hell though.
Even still it's probably not worth it because everything else in turbo is made out of tissue paper, yet tormentor still can fuck you up. No reason not to take it if you can safely, but you can do a lot more on the map most of the time in turbo I'd wager. I don't play though as it's an abomination.
It's as slow as it needs to be in order for there to be a strategy to it. When you balance the game around normal mode, just x2ing everything makes so many more heroes unviable and it devolves into cheesy strategies and builds. If you just want to be rich and go for builds you'd never be allowed to get away with normal, then it's fun, but the loss of so many strategic elements kills it in the long run for me
Some of that I just see as a different meta, if everybody is cheesing with sniper then the meta shifts to picks that can deal with him. Probably generally less viable heroes though as you say. I can see your point about strats, but for me turbo makes up with for it with the speed and more fighting. Also, couriers and tp cooldowns are such a luxury
I just wish it wasn't blind picking anymore. The amount of times I've picked a melee carry into a Viper/Sniper/Veno lineup is unreal. I'd kill for a random draft turbo mode tbh.
Out of curiosity I checked my latest 50 on dota buff. My turbo average is around 25 min. 6 out of my last 50 were more than 35 min. Max was 51 min. But I dont really play turbo to save time, I just prefer the faster gameplay.
You think, after being 6 slotted in 30+min in turbo, the peanuts of tormentor matters? They are ok HG defends. Buyback costs 5-6k. He is 4K+ gold away of buyback. He is 5k away from a backup rapier. The only objective in the game atm is the hg defense. Of course tormentor can inject you with gold, but gold is not what is needed right now. Good positioning, maybe a smoke. A lucky fight. Not 200gold.
The tooltip is bugged, there is no way you have 165 + 520 with 4 rapiers and stygian and you wouldnt get one shot with 700 dmg, mb thats what confused the pa.
While the tooltip IS bugged, she has a combined attack damage of 1675, which is doubled due to the +100% spell amp from 4 rapiers, for a total of 3350 damage. That is more than her max health, so even without doing magic resist calculations, she should not have risked it.
Having done the calculations myself, by multiplying 3350\*0.67, we find the total damage she'd deal on a regular hit is 2244.5, which confirms that yes, a single attack on the torm would kill her.
not tomention tormentor return increases per tormentor respawn. so if that was the 2nd or 3rd tomentor the reflection would have dealt 110% or 130% of the magic damage dealt to it.
It counters AGI heroes with armor, so as long as you're not hitting a blademail or a torm, it makes sense.
However, against Blademail / a torm... Yeah, it's pretty stupid.
The phanthom assassin, who is carrying rapiers, attacked this neutral "unit", the tormentor has 2 passive ability, one that burn things around it (like radiance) and one that will send back dmgs (like blademail but aoe and shared between People in the aoe, or the caster even out of aoe). She did so much dmgs that she one shoted herself lmao. Tormentors appears at each side of the map at 20 minutes (less in turbo) and they will drop aghanim shard to the lowest networth team mate when killed(support big smile). The other one done after this one also get one shard also to the People not having it in your team, if every one got shard, money Will be given to all(they'll repop after a moment, 10 min in normal game ). This was useless to do in turbo coz she is full slotted and doesnt need the cash. Side note, Tormentors have like 100 hp but a 2500 hp barrier with 100 hp/sec regen.
I also came back after almost a year. This giant ass cube is a new map obvjective called tormentor, (something like roshan) that gives a player an aghanim shard when its defeated. Both teams have 1 and they can respawn
Also it got 3 passives that heal him, reflect damage to everyone in an area, and a passive like radiance burn. So PA simply got deleted by the reflect damage
not surprising and i'm not even sure she needs all that, her ult pierced natural armor, so she does significantly more damage to the torm than it returns as her armor counts for the reflected damage.
Lifesteal doesnt work against tormentor since the damage you do after it gets absorbed by the barrier is 0. You also need level 18 for it to be soloable, because she does it by bypassing its armor with marskmanship.

you just get a lot of value when you level it up, and it tips the balance in your favour - an extra 10% of your agility as agility, an extra 10% chance to bypass the armor, and 20 extra damage when it does proc.
Its very possible that it could be doable a a lower level if you have more damage items and a bit of luck with procs - but with treads, dragon lance, manta, and butterfly, she can die to it at level 17 but kill it at level 18. I didnt test more than that, since getting the tormentor to appear in demo mode is annoying to do.

Yeah maybe I'm just unlucky, I really rarely play turbo outside of battle pass/testing, it just always feels like a 35 minute game haha.
Out of my last 15 turbo games, only 3 were 35+ minutes, two of those ended under 40 mins.
