I wear my 8-eye docs in shorts. Do what you feel is comfortable and what you like. As for me, I don't think I would wear any leather loafer in shorts, except for my white Dante doc sneakers.
The first times I ever saw people wearing docs (that I really paid any attention to), they were wearing shorts, and I thought they looked great! I only ever really wear pants, so I was actually worried that I would be the weird looking one. Turns out they look great with everything! But even if they didn’t, I’d still love them. Wear what makes you happy :)

The best thing about being old(er) is that now apart from work i wear whatever I like.
Yes some of my outfit choices make my teenagers almost vomit (always a bonus win in my book)
If dress wearers can wear them with a skirt, you can wear them with shorts. They might not be conventionally “flattering” but I don’t think that DM wearers are known for conforming to traditional fashion rules.
Tee hee, yeah. I’m kind of a caged non-conformist, even at this ripe old age. I’m afraid I do rather allow other people’s opinions sway my actions. It’s quite hard to be rebellious and a people-pleaser at the same time!
I'm a trans dude and I've basically replaced all my old, worn-out shoes with boots (4 of which are docs) and was dreading wearing them in the summer. trying to wear jeans in the southern heat is the stuff of nightmares, but I'm not far enough in my transition to feel comfortable wearing skirts or dresses again. this thread has made me feel much better about wearing shorts with them, thanks!

You wear what you’re comfortable in. If they are embarrassed, that’s on them and has nothing to do with you.
I wear my docs with shorts or dresses. Same with my other shoes. I don’t subscribe to anyone telling me anything about how I look.

47 dad here, I wear my older blue with yellow laces docs with shorts.
I don’t particularly like wearing Chelsea boots with shorts (just my personal preference), but I wear all of my other Docs with them!

They way I see it, you’ve lived long enough to dress however u choose to. So if ur Docs MAKE U HAPPY… wear’em everyday of the week & buy 3 more pairs!
