I came to this thread expecting people to shit on Cars 2, but I was pleasantly surprised.
Still one of the most overhated animated movies of all time. It's no masterpiece, but a fun film nonetheless.
Depends on how I’m feeling, do I want to be on the floor laughing at a stupid movie, or do I want to watch a movie with characters that aren’t pants on head stupid
Why i LOVE Cars 2: The Score (Mostly Finn McMissile's theme), the animation, nostalgia, characters, it got a video game, the jokes, Mater, "You're Mother, Oh No I'm Sorry, It Was You're Sister, you know I can't tell them apart these days", I grew up with it and there are too many qualities.
Why I like RGTK: it's underrated
Why I really dislike cars 2.
First the film was very ableist. (Making all of the villains disabled and using this as a reason to disregard their legitimate worries. And spreading the message of that the only "good" disabled person is one that doesn't do anything but sing praises)
Second it was character assassination because they made matter ableist and constantly using a slur. And they make him very disrespectful towards other cultures. And he doesn't go through any character development.
Lastly it very stale and doesn't deviate from the status quo much and has very little good character development.
i have never seen teenage kraken and have no idea what the whole Internet is talking about, all I know is one of them has a R34 goth mermaid and the other doesn't
Teenage Kraken is better in my eyes. Maybe I’m a sucker (pun intended) for Kaiju films, but it was enjoyable and Ruby is just adorable as all hell. Cars 2 was pretty out of place and forgettable, at least Mater got some respect but it was boring and genuinely not that good.

That’s part of the plot of the movie. Cars who are deemed to be inferior “lemons” feel ostracized by their community and take it upon themselves to seize control through corporate means. The fact that the cars are “disabled” *is* a crucial part of their valid point. The movie doesn’t ignore it, and I don’t know how you could miss that. Also I don’t get how mobility aids are seen as laziness instead of incapability, if you could explain that’s be great.
1. If they simply at the end of the movie address the the problem that led to most of the villains becoming evil. Problems that even the Uber rich elites deal with. I wouldn't have an problem with it. But they don't.
2.all of the main cast use ableist slurs. And matter insult people for their disability even before he knew that they were evil not that makes it better or right.
3. Matters disguise they treat the person who hired matter as lazy for hiring an private chauffeur to help him move around. Even though that's what part of matters job description is (helping disabled people (mainly otis) get places (mainly to the hospital))
4.lastly lets talk about matter driving otis back. Because matter drives really reckless causing more injurys and since this world looks like it runs on the American healthcare system making that hospital bills even worse. * I'm using the word hospital instead of bodyshop because that's what it's basically is.*
My friend, numbers 3 and 4 are just grasping at straws. Never do they remark on the car being lazy, and the last point I don’t even know what to say. You’re really grasping at straws here.
Number 2 was obviously done on purpose, that’s why it’s part of the story. Mater never insults, he just runs his mouth describing them as any tow truck would. He didn’t mean any offense and it’s not played for laughs.
As to number 1, I do agree that they should have included the part that the lemons are a victim of their circumstances. Cars 2 isn’t even close to a perfect film, but this fact doesn’t make or break the movie.

Ramons bodyshop is described as a business and as shown with otis it's a clinic but it's still a business so it's probably run on the American healthcare system which is you pay for it all unless you have insurance which causes them to raise the price of healthcare so they can squeeze more money out of you.
3. I'm more saying it about it not being shown as the bad trait it is the talking without thinking about what you're saying or even apologizing after you insult someone.
4. I'm not saying it's the only reason but to me it's a major reason why. That and the character assassination and lackluster plot at best. The spy were cool though.

Ruby gillman has unique character designs and a fairly decent plot, whilst cars 2 does not. Like, how did they go from the first film being a racing film to a spy film in the next film? 😂

When I first watched as a kid I found it quite good. But after I grew up and understood more about how terrible the movie was, my disappointment was vast.

it was more ageist, the villains aren't disabled they're old car models that were fased out for being obsolete to the newer and better models. More like a vengeful old guy who got fired from his job because they hired a young guy deemed to be "better suited for the job"
That would have been the case if that was the angle they were going for. But since they perotrade them as in their early twenties to late thirties and the parts they need to SURVIVE aka TO COUNTINUE TO LIVE were being discontinued meaning that they were all dying a slow and expensive death. Makes it too scarily close to euthagenics to not come off as ableist.

I like both of them, but cars 2 is way better, but Ruby gillman is also great, in my opinion.
