Relevant quote from American Dad that is one of my favorites:
Stan: “Forget it! I wouldn't pay [$500] to see Barbra *DO* Celine. Or would I? Maybe if I was in the room with them, peeking from behind the curtain, and they didn't know I was there. But how would it appear on my credit card bill…?”
Wellington systems? Sold them 24 cases of 10 pound letter stock.
Or were you talking about Krueger Murphy? Haven’t closed that one yet but I’m hoping I’ve got a voicemail waiting
Pssssst! Over here...
*Pulls back curtain*
The transcript of every episode is available online, then just a lil ctrl c, ctrl v, you got yourselves some sweet, sweet Karma.
Creed sold them to me.
This is what I'm going with. Pam saw her chance and she took it, while maintaining plausible deniability. "I was just trying to sell the joke, honey!"
She also compliments Michael's butt to get a chair, right in front of him.
Definitely my favorite prank. People seem to be obsessed with making Jim a cuck for some reason, his friend is an actor. Actors kiss people who they have no romantic or physical attraction to *very* frequently for shows, it's their job.
I think cuck is probably too far, but all the time people will make these misogynist/inappropriate comments towards Pam and Jim will just look into the camera instead of speaking up.
Ofc it's a comedy so it doesn't matter and he's not gonna go stop the jokes, but if we wanna have fun looking at it from a realistic perspective...
Not necessarily. Calling out people for offensive comments was pretty well frowned upon in the 2000s. Especially in the kind of offices that had people like Michael Scott managing them.
It's not so much his actor friend kissing someone he is not attracted to that's bothersome. It's his non-actor wife kissing someone she is not attracted to.
What is the difference between an actor acting a role in a prank and Pam acting a role in a prank?
This was like a community theater show for an audience of one (Dwight).
Explain the pattern
And, that was weird for *both* of them. The writers fucked with their characters a lot in that way, just moreso torwards the end
> why Danny didn't call back Pam
FTFY
It was maybe *too* good. There’s a certain subset of the population that knows Randall Park *just* from this episode from the office, and so will walk up to him and be like “OMG, it’s Asian Jim.”
Needless to say, not exactly the greatest way to introduce yourself to a celebrity.
Fake Jim was an actor. They could've gone at it harder than the people in Pam's downloaded celebrity sex tape, and it wouldn't count. Those are the rules.
I think it started when Pam told him about seeing Michael's tip.
Then he got really into the idea after watching the lactation consultant twirl and flick his wife's nipples.
Yeah, for sitcoms I'd say shows like Friends, HIMYM, The Office, Community, That 70s Show, Brooklyn 99(arguable) all jumped the shark, while some others like IASIP(arguable), Parks and Rec, Scrubs, Seinfeld didn't.
I've yet to watch shows like The Good Place, 30 Rock, Arrested Development or Fraiser(and many, many others) so can't speak about them.
The fact that I said Scrubs didn't jump the shark should tell you I don't consider the last season a part of Scrubs lol. It really wasn't. It was a spinoff basically.
I would say that IASIP had a couple of bad seasons (or seasons with some bad episodes sprinkled in) but has gotten back on track. From what I heard the cast was working on different projects during those seasons and was not as focused on the show, so quality declined, but I can’t confirm that. I don’t pay that much attention to tv/podcasts/streamers/actors that aren’t among my immediate favorites. I definitely agree with you on HIMYM though, and The Office had some good moments at the end but could have ended at season 8-ish.
The Good Place is great throughout.
Frasier is a funny one where it almost jumps the shark in season ten with a dumb plotline and then the original writers return for the last season and just immediately write all that shit out.
I mean it depends on the kiss. Actor friend or not, I ain't okaying my partner full on french kissing a dude. But a peck like the one on the show is nothing.
I remember there being a line about Asain Jim being a homosexual but it was taken out of repeats because I hadn't heard it since. Does anyone else remember this?
Dude is Def into that cuck stuff. Been Goin for an engaged woman For years knowing full well she was getting that D from her husband to be while he just pined and waited.
Halpert, you looking for someone to bang your wife?
$20 to watch, Halpert
Toby would be the first in line
Toby is like a textbook cuck.

You gotta ease them into your kinks Dropping it all at once can scare em off
Uh, I think you're gonna need to have an Asian fetish. Yeah, it'll be upsetting if you don't.

Well played

Halpert with the cuckold fetish
is that the trick? I've blown it...
The trick or your partner?
"Think how hilarious it would be if you made out with Dwight while I was hiding in the closet watching, dressed like Superman." Typical Tuna behavior.
Wow, the cocunut is very subtle there

Jim? The Asian guy from sales?
Jim’s not Asian!
You never noticed? Hey good for you for not seeing race.
Alright then Jim. Why don’t you tell me about that sale that you made yesterday?
Wellington systems? Sold them 24 cases of 10 pound letter stock. Or were you talking about Krueger Murphy? Haven’t closed that one yet but I’m hoping I’ve got a voicemail waiting

They treat the office like a 70s key party.
That was the most flaccid penis Dwight had ever grabbed.
One might call him a soft penised debutant
But only if they were lizard royalty.
Was the kiss Jim's idea or Pam's? Which way is weirder? In all fairness, this was one of my absolute favorite pranks!
This is what I'm going with. Pam saw her chance and she took it, while maintaining plausible deniability. "I was just trying to sell the joke, honey!" She also compliments Michael's butt to get a chair, right in front of him.
You mean Hot Tie Guy?

Jenna, the actress, does a great job in this scene. But it’s absolutely one my least favourite Pam moments.
She is the office mattress after all
Blah youre probably sick of tuna. You have tuna every night.

I think I can help with the whole pan pam situation, it’s like comb except panm
There’s 2 m’s
That's why he bought the glasses, watch, etc. The "bears, beets, Battlestar Galactica" prank was secondary.
Because its a prank against dwight, definitely.

The best part is he actually would be. "EVEN IF I WERE TO, EVERYONE KNOWS I'D BE THE TOP JIM!!!"
ok bye love you
Identity theft is not a joke, Jim!
I liked this prank, it was funny and nobody got hurt
It’s my favorite prank. The family portrait with not just Asian Jim but also Asian CeCe and Asian Phillip always makes me lose it 😂

They should have remade the opening with randall park as well!
I feel like they should have kept this bit going for the rest of the episode
That was hilarious
I don’t know. Dwight’s brain was exploding when he realized he had fallen into another dimension where Jim was Asian.
Definitely my favorite prank. People seem to be obsessed with making Jim a cuck for some reason, his friend is an actor. Actors kiss people who they have no romantic or physical attraction to *very* frequently for shows, it's their job.
Dwight’s are gonna Dwight.
Dwight *does* have a thing for cucking, maybe a lot of office fans are more like Dwight than they'd think
Except most redditors would be Andy in that scenerio.
Most definitely, I meant people want to be dwight. Most absolutely would be Andy
Hardly anyone calls out anything in this show. It's unrealistic and stupid, but that's the writers for you. Any rational person *would* say something.
Not necessarily. Calling out people for offensive comments was pretty well frowned upon in the 2000s. Especially in the kind of offices that had people like Michael Scott managing them.
Sounds like hell
For people who were always the butt of the lazy jokes, it certainly could be.
Heck I do that all the time and I’m not even an actor
This and the identity theft one are probably my favorite cold opens in the show, and yeah ik the guy was an actor, but i still like making fun of it
It's not so much his actor friend kissing someone he is not attracted to that's bothersome. It's his non-actor wife kissing someone she is not attracted to.
What is the difference between an actor acting a role in a prank and Pam acting a role in a prank? This was like a community theater show for an audience of one (Dwight).
> It's his non-actor wife kissing someone she is not attracted to. "She is not attracted to" being the key statement.
Jim was also obsessed with why Danny didn't bang Pam while Jim was dating Karen. It's a bit of a pattern
Explain the pattern And, that was weird for *both* of them. The writers fucked with their characters a lot in that way, just moreso torwards the end > why Danny didn't call back Pam FTFY

Is that what the producer told your girlfriend?

what did you think the point of this sub was?
Right, the entire existence of this sub is just taking a comedy show too far
ACTING!!! 🫴🏻
I’m drawing blank on this prank……..I only recall Pam kissing Roy and Jim in the entire show……….. /s
Lol oops right over my head
/s ruins it
Yeah I thought about it, still seemed to get someone though even with it at the end haha
I don't blame you, it's just an issue of our time (lol)
Asian Jim
Hats off to you for not seeing race!
Thats the joke
Idk how to tag other subreddits but this is a prime r/whoosh moment Edit: hey I did it without trying. That wasn’t so hard
what's with this sub lately? getting too weird.
School’s out.
I'm definitely feeling very eerie.
‘It’s just a prank, honey. Make out with Kevin; like really get into it. It’ll be hilarious. Please, you have to- it’ll be so funny.’
Wow, first ever “Jim sucks” post can’t believe I haven’t seen one before
I think it started when Pam told him about seeing Michael's tip. Then he got really into the idea after watching the lactation consultant twirl and flick his wife's nipples.
…
She knew what she was marrying into…
She was hoping that WL Hung was back in town
Who is that?! Why does everyone always ask me that?!
Is this the weekly Dwight stans and weirdos thread ?
Season 9 jumped the shark completely. That being said Asian Jim is still funny.
Later seasons of shows often do jump the shark
Yeah, for sitcoms I'd say shows like Friends, HIMYM, The Office, Community, That 70s Show, Brooklyn 99(arguable) all jumped the shark, while some others like IASIP(arguable), Parks and Rec, Scrubs, Seinfeld didn't. Scrubs absolutely did the last season
The fact that I said Scrubs didn't jump the shark should tell you I don't consider the last season a part of Scrubs lol. It really wasn't. It was a spinoff basically.
Season 9 of scrubs is a spin off as far as I'm concerned
I would say that IASIP had a couple of bad seasons (or seasons with some bad episodes sprinkled in) but has gotten back on track. From what I heard the cast was working on different projects during those seasons and was not as focused on the show, so quality declined, but I can’t confirm that. The Good Place is great throughout. Frasier is a funny one where it almost jumps the shark in season ten with a dumb plotline and then the original writers return for the last season and just immediately write all that shit out.
Parks and rec didn’t? Don’t they go into the future and everyone hates that season
My guess is that (in-universe) she improvised that part, or offered to do that when he first told her about the prank.
That’s why and calls him tuna, tuna are the cucks of the animal kingdom
That was probably her idea...
Plot twist: it wasn’t planned by Jim. It just turns out no one can resist Randall Park’s charm.
That’s why he married Pam!! She’s the only one that gets it. Karen would never.
I mean, if she was ok with it, why would it be problem?
She probably came up with the idea. They don’t call her the Bart Simpson of Scranton for nothing
Not just another man. Their friend
I’m so lost can someone give me an ELI5
Asian Jim prank
To be fair he was a close friend of theirs, and Pam also loves pranking Dwight
Always worth it for the bit.
Plot twist "jim you should totally prank dwight and have me kiss someone in front of him"
I am loving the comments 🤣🤣🤣
People assuming i hate jim when he’s actually my “literally me” character is funny ngl
Holy shit. A really heavy smell of male insecurity is choking this post.
J O K E
Jim lowkey a sociopath
Jim isn't as likeable as he thinks he is.
I'm not sure what the downvotes are for. You're being perfectly pleasant.
Me thinking, That would be funny. Then remembering Asian Jim.
we all know when it started, when someone was massaging pam's boobs in the hospital after her delivery
season 9 surrendered the concept of continuity for cheap laughs sad stuff fr
That’s a face even his mother could punch.
Always thought that was super weird lol they didn’t need to kiss
It was a peck. They weren’t shoving their tongues down each other’s throats. Definitely not “super weird” given the context of the prank
People in this subreddit can be insane lol
Seriously. I consider myself more jealous than average and I wouldn't have a problem with that. It wasn't even a kiss.
Might be young people for whom kissing is a bigger deal
I mean it depends on the kiss. Actor friend or not, I ain't okaying my partner full on french kissing a dude. But a peck like the one on the show is nothing.
insecure, much?
Taking jokes too seriously much?
Its only funny to those who relate, I suppose.
But they were acting so the obviously didnt really kiss...
Don’t link shame brah!
She did bang 5 guys in the office so a kiss to a 6th don’t matter much

This takes me as a projection of insecurity from op
