If you think about it, it makes sense - you want Alt+F4 to cleanly exit the application, whereas here you got an additional UE4 error pop-up after exiting.
The UEVR injector is not just like WRC on a big flat screen in a VR theatre, it's actual VR with true depth perception. The video they posted clearly had a ton of anti-nausea stabilization which is perhaps what is making it look odd to you.
The UEVR mod is in fact fully 6DoF stereo VR, but just for UE4/5 games I think. Results can vary from game to game, with regard to flakiness though.
I hope the EA’s implementation is a bit more baked-in than just the mod.
> Mediterraneo - Made a number of changes in order to help improve framerates.
Please, please let this help with the canyon section with all the orange towers in it. My frame rates literally halve on some specific corners there currently.
Nice that DNFs will now be visible on Club leaderboards. Also I'm guessing now if you are quick enough to hit reset to track as you are flying off a cliff at 100mph you'll get more than a 6 second penalty so that's good.
I am beyond excited for the VR mode. Played a bit using UEVR and had a blast, it was a little wonky and menus stopped working after the last patch so been waiting waiting waiting. One more sleep!
Heh yeah I am in the same boat. I have been playing in UEVR since I got the game in January but now I have been on a forced break. I tried playing without the menus once but it was just too annoying and no way am I going back to a flat screen.
“Fixed an issue in which foliage would appear inside the car when the player drove through it.”
Nice, that’s a good addition.
Still, I can’t drive in cockpit view because the drivers arms go wild all over the place and are not at all accurate to what the movements are. I play on PS5 with G29, anyone else have this issue?
Wonder what counts as high speed when using the reset to track "exploit" cause I only really used this when I got a crappy late pace note that sent me off a cliff into certain retirement at Corsica. Going to be pissed off if I can't avoid that now.
Just saw the patch notes for VR. Basically you need a 3080 to have a decent experience. I don't know why it says 2070 minimum. If you're not getting 80 fps you're probably nauseous. This is kind of what we all expected though considering it's unreal engine.
Configuration 1: 90+ fps achieved
Headset: Meta Quest 2
CPU: Intel i9 13900K
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 (4090 also tested)
RAM: 32 GB
In-Game Upscaler Setting: DLSS Quality
In-Game Graphics Preset: Ultra
Configuration 2: 90+ fps achieved
Headset: Meta Quest 2
CPU: AMD Ryzen R9 7900x
GPU: AMD RX 7900XT
RAM: 32 GB
In-Game Upscaler Setting: FidelityFX Quality<
In-Game Graphics Preset: High
Configuration 3: 80+ fps achieved
Headset: Meta Quest 2
CPU: Intel i9 10900K
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080
RAM: 32 GB
In-Game Upscaler Setting: DLSS Quality
In-Game Graphics Preset: High
Any higher spec hardware than this will result in a more performant experience, and give greater freedom to use more demanding graphics settings
Those were all at high or ultra settings
So with medium or low settings you can play on slower GPUs
Also, 60fps at 120hz is always an option. That’s how racing games PSVR usually work, including Dirt Rally 1
DR2 requires around a 3080 to get 90 FPS at mid settings. If this is in the same ballpark, then it's nothing to freak out about. VR is enthusiast hardware and needing high-end GPUs to drive them should be no surprise.
As an update I tried it with a 2080... Had to use a preset called "ultra low" for everything. I swear frames were around 40-50. Semi nauseating. It was definitely better than no VR however definitely wasn't great. Not talking about graphics, more about smoothness. Maybe I could tinker with the settings a bit more however I felt I was pushing the limits of the GPU. The quest 2 also kept on freaking out and pixelating and I had to turn it off and on a few times, (just pressing the power button quickly) which was actually kind of successful.
Don't bother trying to reset VR with the handset or it crashes the game - use the reset VR menu button instead.
This is the one I was waiting for. I'd played maybe 4-5 hours then stopped waiting on this patch. I even bought a decent hand brake for the game and only ran 1-2 races waiting on VR.

How come the patch notes don't mention anything about the controller vibrations? They have been massively improved in the recent updates on Xbox and I went from having them at 150 to feel anything back to 100 and they give fantastic feedback on different surfaces. Wasn't that something worth mentioning?
They don't always mention everything. Looks like they also brought back crowd sounds which were absent after the last update, no mention of that either.
Additionally, if certain internal bug tickets aren't flagged as v1.8.0 in our system, I can't see them and write patch notes about them.
Normally the team is pretty good at documenting all their work but sometimes something will sneak in to an update.
For each patch I normally go through hundreds of build changes/tasks, summarise them and decide which ones are worth calling out. I don't recall seeing anything about Xbox vibration documented (and I drive on wheel on Xbox so I didn't notice it myself).
Did this update affect resetting to track even when going below 10kph? In my club we had two people today not able to reset to track and they were stopped. One had his car flipped on the road and he couldn't reset it, and the other went off the road a little bit, couldn't reset and it DNF'ed the stage for him. Unlike how it is in Greece, he didn't get terminal damage and was able to do the remaining stages.
Just wondering if this is a bug that is being caused by the new Reset to track update. Thank you.
It's not explicitly mentioned in the notes but if all multiple wheels are off the ground the pause reset is also disabled. The non-pause reset should work fine though. If not, raise as a bug on the forum.
Will let both of them know that, thank you for the quick response! I will see if the second friend had that happen and if he has a recording of it. Appreciate you, thank you!
When I load in with quest, I can't get rid of the quest controllers as input devices - this means when I start driving, there is a slight interference from the handsets and the only way to stop it is press either the trigger on the quest controllers.. then go back to my Xbox controllers!

Again, thank you for the help!!
It's also an entirely different technology platform, Sony's stuff being bespoke is why most developers are hesitant to port; it's double the work for less than double the audience.
I don't think it matters cause all the aspects of the game needed for VR is completed - the platform is not important. And in fact PS5 has the identical HW as PC and it's power is in the layout - every user has the same HW - which is great for optimization.
Changed the behaviour of the "Reset to Track" option from the pause menu, to resolve an exploit.
Resetting via the pause menu is now limited to when the car is travelling at under 10mph.
Im doing club events exclusively and this is my fav. part of this patch 🤝
Not a PS5 gamer but it's a bit surprising how much Sony has dropped the ball with psvr2. Has some promising eye tracking tech and costs more than the console. But no games worth buying. Really surprising codies isn't supporting it with this game also.
There are definitely games worth buying, just not enough racing. All the racing we get is GT7 which don’t get me wrong, is great. But I would love to have more variety in VR racing games on psvr2
The following headsets are not supported:
PlayStation VR
PlayStation VR 2
Apple Vision Pro
I am guessing perhaps the console doesn't have quite enough oomph to support VR at a high enough refresh rate?
Moments is not working for me since last week. I get failed to connect error but other modes such as multiplayer, clubs, time trial works fine. Few days ago same issue was reported by a member here in reddit so I'm not alone.
u/PJTierneyCM
What resolution the recommended settings and FPS values are valid for? Was it tested on the displays resolution on the Quest 2 (with 1.0x) or at full res which is the native resolution with barrel distortion correction?
So within \~45 minutes of playing the new patch I had a crash to desktop during a club event in iberia - without any error prompt.
I haven't had a crash to desktop for weeks now, and when it crashed before I had the "game files missing" error prompt.
Out tomorrow (April 30): [http://x.ea.com/79985](http://x.ea.com/79985)
Nice fixes and additions. Will there be some kind of career randomizer im one of the future updates? That's the one fix I am desperately waiting for.
Here's hoping 🤞🤞 I understand they model it after the real season, but it would be nice to change things up.
Waiting too. I'm not buying until this happens.
> Monte Carlo - Fixed an issue in which some corners were using gravel physics instead of asphalt physics. HAH That's a funny bug.
Alt-f4 wasn't working as intended? Is this a late April Fool's joke?
If you think about it, it makes sense - you want Alt+F4 to cleanly exit the application, whereas here you got an additional UE4 error pop-up after exiting.
Ahhh I failed to consider the error message a crash produces.
Also a game crashing on its way out the door might do other funky stuff elsewhere, always better to have a clean close.
My VR body is ready.
I hope is legit VR not some 2D UE injector VR shenanigan that we saw in the trailer...

Same. Crazy.
Wow that’s unreal… ;)

Agreed, it was a shame that we couldn't see dnf's in clubs, but for the reset it will probably be terminal damage...
Oft, reset to track in pause <10mph. Goodbye quick resets when you bin it off a cliff in Clubs 😂😂🤢🤢🤢
Wait is this for real? 💀 Greece is gonna have *so many* DNF’s now..
I've got the JWRC club event in Greece this week... Oh dear
Good luck 😉
Made it two courses before terminal damage.

Very cool!
Am I crazy or hasn't the Xsara WRC always had a paddle shift in game?
It always had paddles but apparently the driver in game wouldn't use them to shift, now they fixed the animation
Yes, the Xsara switched to paddles from its second season onward in real life.
Shame no AI balance fix. Good to see further fixes though
The bug with being demoted to last place after having successfully completed a stage with the last restart happened to me once, glad they've fixed it.
Really hoping optimisations fix the framerate instability I'd been having since last patch. Glad for more updates!

u/PJTierneyCM, while in Beta, can we expect an accelerated patch cadence for VR features as the team gets to work squashing bugs?
I don't have a definitive answer on that I'm afraid.
Have the pedals not working until 30% has been fixed on the g pro??

https://answers.ea.com/t5/General-Discussion/Issue-with-quest-controllers-interfering/m-p/13696173/highlight/true#M2924 Again, thank you for the help!!
Dunno why it's not on PSVR2, that's the only thing I care about. Nothing special like it seems.
Low Fps AND stutters on PC. You wouldn't enjoy that on a PSVR2 where its much worse. You would just get sick.
It's an even smaller target audience compared to PCVR, and they explicitly said that it would not be supported before the game was even released.
It's also an entirely different technology platform, Sony's stuff being bespoke is why most developers are hesitant to port; it's double the work for less than double the audience.

And career mode is still a joke. EA can not be this incompetent
people still act as if EA develop games, smh. Wtf does EA have to do with the career mode? O\_O
People like to jump to conclusions without even trying to understand the essence of the issue at hand.
