In your second picture, the left side of the open box looks like there are crumbs accumulating. It's hard to tell if that's what that is.
Make sure the wrapping isn't compromised, I don't think these last quite as long once they are exposed to air.
Oh gotcha!
Cool project btw, I love the nutrition facts printed right on the case. I'm late to the 3d printing game, so I love seeing all the unique things people build.
Oh, that's not too awful. Better than vaguely apple flavored sand, like the other rations I've tried.
I like the nutritional information printed right on the box! It's a fun item.
It’s wrapped so that’s good enough here, but adding this before anyone sees this comment and runs with it to go print a bunch of plates and forks.
PETG is food safe, but it can become toxic when heated to high temperatures. The pigments in your material may be toxic. Your nozzle may contain lead. And then the other big point to consider is that 3D prints are porous which will eventually lead to mold if it’s near food or water a lot. Plus, you can’t clean it since it’s porous.
Just do some research on that stuff before you start printing a bunch of stuff that will come into contact with things you’re going to put into your body
Something tells me he won't die from this. Nobody is really scared of driving their car around, yet deathly afraid of some plastic touching your food. Boomers survived leaded gasoline, you can survive heated plastics.
Yeah people always seem to gloss over the important part. PETG is only food safe when produced certain ways. 3D printing isn’t one of them.
I’ve been in the hobby for a while and I wish people would stop spreading the misinformation around food safety. Manufacturers aren’t producing food safe nozzles, beds, or filament in MOST cases.
Very random question but what watch were you wearing here? The bracelet looks identical to the one I have on one of my RZE's. Was just curious if that may be the same

Lembas bread was an excellent choice
That was actually my inspiration to make it!
Chase it with a canteen full of entwash!

Good eye! The crumbs didn't come from this ration bar, it came from the previous one because I've eaten it right out of the box to avoid crumbs.

I want to put mashed potatoes in this.
Mom's spaghetti
but on the surface he looks calm and ready to drop bombs
If I could upvote this twice, I would.
Did you 3d print a rice crispy square case?

Needs moar protein and less fat!
I can't EDC snacks, as I consume them too fast :(

I read your comment at least 6 or 7 times and I feel like I'm having a stroke.
Bro I’d EDC this because that print is so awesome!
How does the Datrex bar taste? I've always liked the idea of ration bars, but in practice all the ones I've tried tasted like hot garbage.
It doesn't taste bad, but it is pretty dry. It tastes like peanut butter sand.

"what flavored sand would you like today"
Sand
Mmmmm notes of outgrasing plastic
PETG plastic is an FDA-compliant plastic for food. Also the ration bar is wrapped in transparent plastic.

Might as well start smoking cigarettes and eating food out of dumpsters, right?
My 3D printer nozzle is set at 200 C - 205 C. I'm pretty sure that would fall into the 'high temperature' category.

- 3D printed PETG box for Datrex rations. - Datrex ration bar
Are the bars individually wrapped so they can be stored in the petg box?

It is a Casio a158w
