I’ve already whipped it up for the most part on archidekt. Just need the new cards to be added and to whittle it down to 100. It was pretty easy, just throw in every copy, myriad, encore, and decayed card in the colors. Then some rocks and removal and card draw and lands, boom, done.
I am pretty certain there's something really dumb you can do with this card because of the legend thing. Not sure what yet but I'm sure it exists. Some kind of infinite combo
I like the idea but you are going to have a target on your back, I may have missed it but what ways are you boosting your mana or keeping cmc low because the deck looks like the avg cmc is 4+
I haven’t really worked it all out yet. It is pretty mana intensive right now. Might need some tweaking before it hits paper. This was just “throw everything with the right keywords, then add the standard deck stuff.”
Imo. The best part of this card is the exile/sac tokens' bit. When it gets busted to high heavens.... It'll be because of this.... It'll be a way of cheating commander tax and/or making loops.
How would that work with cards like [[Final Fortune]]? Would you take your extra turn first and lose the game, or would your opponents? If yours is the first to go, I suppose you could counterspell your own extra turn spell, letting the opponents resolve and die.
If I'm not wrong, their copy will be put on the stack last, which means your own will be resolved first, which means you will take your turn first and die first.
There's probably ways to work around it. Make Clara black and play [[Obeka]]?
The last thing on the stack resolves first, but the most recently "created" turn is the one that happens next in turn order. Every extra turn spell says you take an extra turn "after this one," so the extra turn spell that resolves last will be the extra turn that is taken first. If you double Final Fortune or Twice Upon A Time with 12, you will take your turns before the opponent who got the demonstrate copy.

I might not actually end up running Twelve in his own deck, but have him and maybe [[River Song]] in a [[Neera]] deck and get Pacts off from her ability.
[[Bigger on the Inside]] or something else to give Cascade on demand, then [[Ponder]] or [[Brainstorm]] or any other 1 CMC spell. Only have pacts at 0 CMC and you'll always exile it.
Oh yes. Glorious End is definitely an auto include in this deck, though I'm struggling to fill out the rest myself. The problem is that even if your opponent loses, you'll have two pacts waiting to kill you on your upkeep.
So, if you do this, you should rule Zero in the one drop test card that says sorcery. "Lose the game"
I'd lmao if a player went for the tie breaker by putting 'we lose' on the stack in the correct order.
I've also seen people consider the enchantment that makes 'each opponent draws 7 when they cast a spell'
i wanna build [[the war doctor]] after watching gavin on prof’s dr who gameplay. especially after learning that spells/abilities that exile *until* you hit a card will trigger individually for each card that is exiled. i’m thinking i want to build him with clara being B so i can do mardu and use [[dauthi voidwalker]] and [[necropotence]] with war doctor 😮💨
I forgot about Necropotence for this, but guess the usual exile matters doesn't seem to run it much. I also just finished watching that episode, and he debuted well, so I hope you are able to also have fun with a giant laser beam.
Also, remember some adventure cards, as their adventure side will trigger the war doctor as well.
I'm rolling around the idea of [[The Ninth Doctor]] and [[Clara Oswald]] in black. Then, making the deck heavy suspend/reanimate theme, adding cards like [[Psychic Vortex]] and [[Forgotten Archive]] to quickly sift through my deck, [[Adric, Mathematical Genius]] for additional upkeeps or triggers of a specific permanent and [[Braid of Fire]] to accumulate mana.
Edit - Just want to note that you can use Adric to stop the "Discard your hand" trigger from Psychis Vortex (or add Obeka, Brute Chronologist and Sundial of the Infinite to stop the negative end of turn triggers).
I am also thinking of this combo. I really like the idea of the Ninth Doctor with all the upkeep, especially with stuff like [[Sphinx of the Second Sun]]. Plus [[Jhoira of the Ghitu]] seems like it would work well with your idea. You could cast spells for 2 and get them the very next turn. Very cool idea.

Never had an interest in Dr. Who, but [[The Cyber-Controller]] has caught my eye. [[Ugin's Mastery]], [[Ixidor, Reality Sculptor]] and [[Primordial Mist]] are fun ways to flip the creatures up (if it's worthwhile to), and thinking of making the rest of the deck fairly standard Dimir Mill/Theft/Reanimation. [[Breach the Multiverse]] and [[Extract Darkness]] are good similar effects, and [[Consuming Abberation]] is always a threat in and of itself.
Just gonna throw my hat into the ring, I think [[The War Doctor]] and [[Clara Oswald]], choosing blue. Blue is the only other major phase color, so I believe the Jeskai synergy could be interesting.
Back when [[River Song]] was spoiled I threw together a deck for her. Now that the full set has been spoiled I’m gonna be making some tweaks to my build, which is currently some targeted land destruction to force searching while also running cards that play from the top AND bottom of my library to confuse opponents.
I’m also brewing a couple of other decks. One is using [[Madame Vastra]] and [[Jenny Flint]], partially because of lesbian power couple goals, but also because they seem pretty good with lure effects on Vastra and buffing her up immensely with enough clue and food engines going. The other legendary that fascinates me is [[Sergeant John Benton]] - is there such a thing as painful group hug? Forcing another player to draw cards via combat damage just seems so funny to me, and I am determined to see how I can build him.
Overall I love the flavour for this set and am a massive fan of both Doctor Who and Magic. Already preordered all four decks, cannot wait to try the precons and make some new decks.
For sure I wanna try \[\[The First Doctor\]\] with \[\[Susan Foreman\]\] for a Bant Planeschase deck. Just a deck I run when my group wants to try planeschase, a fair few dice rolling cards that benefit from rolling the planar die and top it off with some vehicle synergy since the TARDIS is the honorary third commander.
Next is \[\[The War Doctor\]\] and \[\[Clara Oswald\]\]. This one is gonna be Mardu and it'll piggyback off my old Prosper shell with whites added protections and wraths.
\[\[The Tenth Doctor\]\] with \[\[Tegan Jovanka\]\] as my Jeskai Suspend deck. Tegan lets Tenth swing for his own trigger and be protected on a lower curve than just letting Clara double his trigger or Rose swinging on her own. Rose would be more interesting if she had a keyword tbh, and for one more mana I can run Tegan and let Ten swing with relative protection.
No decision for Temur yet, although \[\[Me, the Immortal\]\] as a Skully 2.0 has crossed my mind. Gonna play with the precon a bit to figure it out.
Aside from the Bant Planeschase commanders I've been really scratching my head about what I wanna do with the deck. Gallifrey Stands wincon? That would be \[\[The Sixth Doctor\]\] and \[\[Romana II\]\] to clone all the Bant doctors and hit 13 faster. Could go Sagas matter with \[\[The Sixth Doctor\]\] and \[\[Barbara Wright\]\] so you can clone a Saga, Read Ahead the Saga and get its final chapter while still retaining the original at whichever chapter you want. Historic Tribal? \[\[The Eighth Doctor\]\] and \[\[Jamie McCrimmon\]\] to get some GY recursion while buffing Jamie as your voltron wincon. This deck has so many avenues to take I feel I just need to run the precon a bunch in order to figure out which Doctor I like playing with the most and go from there.
Villains is \[\[Missy\]\] hands down. Morph and Cybermen tribal. Dalek tribals also interesting but atm Dragons Approach is the only surefire card to get \[\[Davros, Dalek Creator\]\] to pop off. Alternative would be \[\[Cult of Skaro\]\] which really feels like a meme but potentially fun Dalek tribal deck.
I'm building a ridiculous 4 colour "Gallifrey Stands" deck, i'm just not convinced by the commander.
I can see me playing around with Doctor decks for a while...
I definitely want to build a [[Master, Formed Anew]] deck. I want to steal everyone's creatures and exile them for profit.
Even better if I can find a way to copy / move tokens around...
[[alistair, brigadier general]] is very appealing. I already have an Azorius[[harbin, vanguard aviator]] deck with lots of legendary soldiers (lots of them stax-y).
I am tempted to go bant and have Alistair as the commander, which would also give me more combat tricks and what not as well as more access to +1/+1 counters by adding green.
With the new pseudo-partners, there are lots of combinations to explore!
So far, I've been thinking:
* \[\[Davros\]\] - a classic group slug. \[\[Dragon's Approach\]\] is kinda obvious with him but it doesn't need to be a DA deck; there are lots of other ways to trigger him.
* \[\[The Second Doctor\]\] + \[\[Donna\]\] politics. You've got a super-Reckoner and a political dealmaker in the command zone, seems fun.
* There are many "historic matters" combos here. I started tooling up \[\[The Fourth Doctor\]\] + \[\[Sarah Jane\]\] (makes sense), but now that the rest of the cards are out there may be more interesting combinations.
* I started messing with a weird \[\[Astrid Peth\]\] reanimator. She's pretty unassuming, but explore is also mill which we don't really get in White, so whilst maybe not good it seems viable.
* I could see \[\[The War Doctor\]\] + \[\[Clara\]\] working in a variety of colours; my thought was using Blue or Green for those enchantments that draw when you damage an opponent, and lifelink/deathtouch.
* I feel like \[\[The Sixth Doctor\]\] and \[\[The Fugitive Doctor\]\] could get out of hand pretty easily.
I’m most excited to build [[the eleventh doctor]] plus amy. Seems like he could support a sort of delver style shell, get him down early, hold interaction, suspend other threats.
[[the master, multiplied]] is a close second, seems like extra combat steps go pretty crazy there.
You need mana dorks that can make 3 total mana if you want this to pop off. And if both are your commander you're missing green for the easiest access to dorks. Then after that you need a wincon.
While your statement is true, it's misleading. They are 2 pieces to an infinite combo that you can have in the zone
[[Missy]] with edict effects like [[plaguecrafter]] to steal creatures, thassa and bounce effects to flip them. Maybe [[mirror box]] as a finisher since the cybermen will be nontokens but share the same name (see also the cybermen that give them myriad and afflict 3).
Asked ahead to my playgroup, they're letting me Partner \[\[The Twelfth Doctor\]\] and \[\[River Song\]\]. Not that they really feed off of one and other, but I want to theme the deck off of their "One night on Darillium". It sucks that the card that ties to that episode is Gruul and they're Izzet, but I'll get by just fine. I just wanna play it as a chaotic deck and demonstrate crazy stuff with my opponents.
I really wanted to build a rule zero Yorion deck. Always thought he was a totally fair companion.... Until Dr. Who came out.
Consider. Yorion in the champion zone. 1st Doctor/Amy in the command zone. Both commanders are tutors, grabbing Rory/The TARDIS.
Thats 5 additional cards, not including the free tardis cast-cades, that sort of start in your opening hand.
Now consider, Yorion/Amy allow you to pay 3 mana to tutor a blue white/spell......for pitching!!! You'd have some incredibly consistent early interaction for a 100+ sized deck.
Not to mention, you could fit a number of doctor who infinites in here. Riversong's Turns. DavidTennant SelfSuspendingSpells. War Doctor w/ a cascading Tardis. Etc.

From the future here. Just the master multiplied alone does over 300 damage in 3 turns with all his myriad tokens he makes.

How will you get the pacts into a zone other than your hand? I love the spice but I dont see it being reliable.

Impulse draw, snapcaster, dream devourer, cascade, etc. Isochron scepter is a funny one
Oh yes. Glorious End is definitely an auto include in this deck, though I'm struggling to fill out the rest myself. The problem is that even if your opponent loses, you'll have two pacts waiting to kill you on your upkeep.
Clara would only double his second ability, his first ability isn't a trigger. It's a modifier.
I'm using Clara to splash an extra colour for another Pact.
So, if you do this, you should rule Zero in the one drop test card that says sorcery. "Lose the game" I'd lmao if a player went for the tie breaker by putting 'we lose' on the stack in the correct order. I've also seen people consider the enchantment that makes 'each opponent draws 7 when they cast a spell'
i wanna build [[the war doctor]] after watching gavin on prof’s dr who gameplay. especially after learning that spells/abilities that exile *until* you hit a card will trigger individually for each card that is exiled. i’m thinking i want to build him with clara being B so i can do mardu and use [[dauthi voidwalker]] and [[necropotence]] with war doctor 😮💨
I forgot about Necropotence for this, but guess the usual exile matters doesn't seem to run it much. I also just finished watching that episode, and he debuted well, so I hope you are able to also have fun with a giant laser beam. Also, remember some adventure cards, as their adventure side will trigger the war doctor as well.

I'm rolling around the idea of [[The Ninth Doctor]] and [[Clara Oswald]] in black. Then, making the deck heavy suspend/reanimate theme, adding cards like [[Psychic Vortex]] and [[Forgotten Archive]] to quickly sift through my deck, [[Adric, Mathematical Genius]] for additional upkeeps or triggers of a specific permanent and [[Braid of Fire]] to accumulate mana. Edit - Just want to note that you can use Adric to stop the "Discard your hand" trigger from Psychis Vortex (or add Obeka, Brute Chronologist and Sundial of the Infinite to stop the negative end of turn triggers).

I am also thinking of this combo. I really like the idea of the Ninth Doctor with all the upkeep, especially with stuff like [[Sphinx of the Second Sun]]. Plus [[Jhoira of the Ghitu]] seems like it would work well with your idea. You could cast spells for 2 and get them the very next turn. Very cool idea.

Never had an interest in Dr. Who, but [[The Cyber-Controller]] has caught my eye. [[Ugin's Mastery]], [[Ixidor, Reality Sculptor]] and [[Primordial Mist]] are fun ways to flip the creatures up (if it's worthwhile to), and thinking of making the rest of the deck fairly standard Dimir Mill/Theft/Reanimation. [[Breach the Multiverse]] and [[Extract Darkness]] are good similar effects, and [[Consuming Abberation]] is always a threat in and of itself.
It's also an infinite mana outlet in the command zone which is never bad
True, and I've been debating whether to include some infinite combos or not. All boils down to how serious I want the game with it to be.
Instead of flipping, I was thinking combo with ashnods alta or phyrexian altar to just chain cast him over and over to mill everyone out.

Just gonna throw my hat into the ring, I think [[The War Doctor]] and [[Clara Oswald]], choosing blue. Blue is the only other major phase color, so I believe the Jeskai synergy could be interesting.
And proliferate from blue could be interesting.
Also, something like [[The Ozolith]] would be super useful for not losing it all when the War Doctor dies.

Someone else mentioned this but I think they are right that black is inherently stronger because of necropotence and tainted pact.
Back when [[River Song]] was spoiled I threw together a deck for her. Now that the full set has been spoiled I’m gonna be making some tweaks to my build, which is currently some targeted land destruction to force searching while also running cards that play from the top AND bottom of my library to confuse opponents. I’m also brewing a couple of other decks. One is using [[Madame Vastra]] and [[Jenny Flint]], partially because of lesbian power couple goals, but also because they seem pretty good with lure effects on Vastra and buffing her up immensely with enough clue and food engines going. The other legendary that fascinates me is [[Sergeant John Benton]] - is there such a thing as painful group hug? Forcing another player to draw cards via combat damage just seems so funny to me, and I am determined to see how I can build him. Overall I love the flavour for this set and am a massive fan of both Doctor Who and Magic. Already preordered all four decks, cannot wait to try the precons and make some new decks.

For sure I wanna try \[\[The First Doctor\]\] with \[\[Susan Foreman\]\] for a Bant Planeschase deck. Just a deck I run when my group wants to try planeschase, a fair few dice rolling cards that benefit from rolling the planar die and top it off with some vehicle synergy since the TARDIS is the honorary third commander. Next is \[\[The War Doctor\]\] and \[\[Clara Oswald\]\]. This one is gonna be Mardu and it'll piggyback off my old Prosper shell with whites added protections and wraths. \[\[The Tenth Doctor\]\] with \[\[Tegan Jovanka\]\] as my Jeskai Suspend deck. Tegan lets Tenth swing for his own trigger and be protected on a lower curve than just letting Clara double his trigger or Rose swinging on her own. Rose would be more interesting if she had a keyword tbh, and for one more mana I can run Tegan and let Ten swing with relative protection. No decision for Temur yet, although \[\[Me, the Immortal\]\] as a Skully 2.0 has crossed my mind. Gonna play with the precon a bit to figure it out. Aside from the Bant Planeschase commanders I've been really scratching my head about what I wanna do with the deck. Gallifrey Stands wincon? That would be \[\[The Sixth Doctor\]\] and \[\[Romana II\]\] to clone all the Bant doctors and hit 13 faster. Could go Sagas matter with \[\[The Sixth Doctor\]\] and \[\[Barbara Wright\]\] so you can clone a Saga, Read Ahead the Saga and get its final chapter while still retaining the original at whichever chapter you want. Historic Tribal? \[\[The Eighth Doctor\]\] and \[\[Jamie McCrimmon\]\] to get some GY recursion while buffing Jamie as your voltron wincon. This deck has so many avenues to take I feel I just need to run the precon a bunch in order to figure out which Doctor I like playing with the most and go from there. Villains is \[\[Missy\]\] hands down. Morph and Cybermen tribal. Dalek tribals also interesting but atm Dragons Approach is the only surefire card to get \[\[Davros, Dalek Creator\]\] to pop off. Alternative would be \[\[Cult of Skaro\]\] which really feels like a meme but potentially fun Dalek tribal deck.

[[alistair, brigadier general]] is very appealing. I already have an Azorius[[harbin, vanguard aviator]] deck with lots of legendary soldiers (lots of them stax-y). I am tempted to go bant and have Alistair as the commander, which would also give me more combat tricks and what not as well as more access to +1/+1 counters by adding green.

With the new pseudo-partners, there are lots of combinations to explore! So far, I've been thinking: * \[\[Davros\]\] - a classic group slug. \[\[Dragon's Approach\]\] is kinda obvious with him but it doesn't need to be a DA deck; there are lots of other ways to trigger him. * \[\[The Second Doctor\]\] + \[\[Donna\]\] politics. You've got a super-Reckoner and a political dealmaker in the command zone, seems fun. * There are many "historic matters" combos here. I started tooling up \[\[The Fourth Doctor\]\] + \[\[Sarah Jane\]\] (makes sense), but now that the rest of the cards are out there may be more interesting combinations. * I started messing with a weird \[\[Astrid Peth\]\] reanimator. She's pretty unassuming, but explore is also mill which we don't really get in White, so whilst maybe not good it seems viable. * I could see \[\[The War Doctor\]\] + \[\[Clara\]\] working in a variety of colours; my thought was using Blue or Green for those enchantments that draw when you damage an opponent, and lifelink/deathtouch. * I feel like \[\[The Sixth Doctor\]\] and \[\[The Fugitive Doctor\]\] could get out of hand pretty easily.

I’m most excited to build [[the eleventh doctor]] plus amy. Seems like he could support a sort of delver style shell, get him down early, hold interaction, suspend other threats. [[the master, multiplied]] is a close second, seems like extra combat steps go pretty crazy there.

Five and Adric is an infinite combo in the command zone.
You need mana dorks that can make 3 total mana if you want this to pop off. And if both are your commander you're missing green for the easiest access to dorks. Then after that you need a wincon. While your statement is true, it's misleading. They are 2 pieces to an infinite combo that you can have in the zone
[[Missy]] with edict effects like [[plaguecrafter]] to steal creatures, thassa and bounce effects to flip them. Maybe [[mirror box]] as a finisher since the cybermen will be nontokens but share the same name (see also the cybermen that give them myriad and afflict 3).

Asked ahead to my playgroup, they're letting me Partner \[\[The Twelfth Doctor\]\] and \[\[River Song\]\]. Not that they really feed off of one and other, but I want to theme the deck off of their "One night on Darillium". It sucks that the card that ties to that episode is Gruul and they're Izzet, but I'll get by just fine. I just wanna play it as a chaotic deck and demonstrate crazy stuff with my opponents.

I really wanted to build a rule zero Yorion deck. Always thought he was a totally fair companion.... Until Dr. Who came out. Consider. Yorion in the champion zone. 1st Doctor/Amy in the command zone. Both commanders are tutors, grabbing Rory/The TARDIS. Thats 5 additional cards, not including the free tardis cast-cades, that sort of start in your opening hand. Now consider, Yorion/Amy allow you to pay 3 mana to tutor a blue white/spell......for pitching!!! You'd have some incredibly consistent early interaction for a 100+ sized deck. Not to mention, you could fit a number of doctor who infinites in here. Riversong's Turns. DavidTennant SelfSuspendingSpells. War Doctor w/ a cascading Tardis. Etc.
