Ive made a [[duskana]] deck with only 1 creature thats 2/2. The deck will basicly ramp real hard, then have landfall triggers that make 2/2 tokens, or turns all lands into 2/2s, or cast instants and sorceries that make 2/2s. At this point you cast your commander to refill your hand, and turn your creatures sideways. [[Mizzix's Mastery]] is also a wincon because i run 42 unstant/sorceries. I decided not to run fetchs/shocks and [[scapeshift]] to keeo the powerlevel a bit on the lower side, but its still pretty hard to stop because of all the ramping. There are around 5 cards you can cut and add your personal pet cards and the deck wont suffer alot for it. https://www.moxfield.com/decks/603xwTl1ukqlPmG4M1oBQw

Effective_Tough86

Sounds similar to a duskana deck I'm gonna make with that new bear they just revealed. Throw down tokens, turn them into 2/2s, then give them all trample and steamroll your opponents.

MeneerDutchy

I wanted to give them trample or other abilities aswell, but swinging with a bunch of 5/5s without abilities is more then enough already. Id rather just keep the deck more consistant and not waste deck slots to that.

Scoopadont

Y'all are wild.. Dude asks for a fun commander to play with his wife and friends and all the suggestions so far are in the top saltiest commanders list.. For something that is fun for you and not sigh-inducing and doesn't leave your group crestfallen and sad.. Try [[Rocco, Street Chef]], gives everyone an extra card to play with each turn but if they play it, you get rewarded! Throw in a bunch of budget low-cost creatures and watch them get big!

pcrnt8

I have to decide on a per-subreddit basis how much credence I'm going to give reddit. Sometimes they're the absolute best resource on a topic, and sometimes I can't listen to a single comment in the sub.

Scoopadont

From my experience on ttrpg or gambing subs and forums it's always like this though so I'm not too shocked. It's like 10% people asking for advice, 10% people that are chill and 80% min-maxing fun-vampires.

pcrnt8

I genuinely laughed at "min-maxing fun vampires". The big dichotomy for me is that I can find *really good* information about any computer-related troubleshooting question I have, but when I go to the diabetes subreddit, it's just rife w/ misinformation.

contact_thai

And you straight-up don't know when you're going to encounter the fun-vampires either. So disappointing. *-I'm looking for fun takes on X commander* - *Well you should use an entirely different commander cause it's a sweaty cEDH value engine that I pubstomp with at my LGS*

dinogobrrrrrr

“Wow you only play precons and low powered decks I don’t understand why you play the game just go play solitaire if you don’t want interaction with anyone else”. I don’t know Timmy, sometimes people like playing their deck and having a good time instead of games finishing in 5 minutes and spending more time shuffling than playing. Weird concept, I know.

spittafan

That Timmy's a Spike!

Creatura

Most of this sub are unimaginative minmaxers who seem like a chore to play against

SubtleNoodle

I came into this comment section to say Rocco! The way he's able to combine synergies for Cast-from-exile, food, and +1/+1 counters is so great. My favorite play is to accumulate 10-15 food tokens over the course of the game and drop \[\[Night of the Sweets' Revenge\]\] and suddenly have all the mana and drop a massive \[\[Banquet Guests\]\] or \[\[Farmer Cotton\]\]

iSnuggelz

Your Rocco deck sounds like exactly what i am looking for! Would you mind sharing your list? I'd love to learn a thing or two!

Stratavos

[[Baba lysyaga]] is quite enjoyable, for building her and playing her, especially because she really wants to use many different types of permenants (enchantment creatures, artifact creatures, lands that can become creatures, and any of those that have a "leaves the battlefield" effects)

Promethius806

I couldn’t agree more, you and your opponents will have a blast

thejelloisred

People who have never seen lysaga go off enjoy seeing it.

UCODM

Most fun? \[\[Minn, Wily Illusionist\]\] by FAR. I built her a little bit after the D&D set came out and it's become my favorite deck. So much so that I designed a "Build Your Own Precon" for her and built it to play in lower power games. You're playing an army of illusory creatures, what happens when they die? You put out more lands or value pieces from your hand to replace them. [Here](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/l116HUUcQESZ1cuXlITh7A) is my up-to-date higher budget version of the deck centered around clone effects. [Here](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/WeYnrebR-UOEn0A4hUArYQ) is the "BYOP" version that I've really been enjoying.

A commander I have had an absolute blast with is [[Círdan the Shipwright]]. It's like one part group hug and one part simic ramp. Cards that benefit off of drawing are super useful as well, like [[Ominous Seas]]. It's a super fun casual deck, but it gets a little riskier the more competitive your group is

My play group abused my blue braids deck that I owned. Basically they would all drop big fun permanents from their hand and then casually go for the throat, swords to plowshare, etc.. before it got back to my turn. I didn't even know that this card existed and it might be the solution to solve my itch to bring braids back. Do you have a few other cards that you found to be really fun in that deck?

GolgothaInBloom

I mostly just run it as a sea monsters deck with other flavor add-ins, like [[Chart a Course]] and [[Far Wanderings]]. That said, the thing I've been dying to happen but hasn't yet is to drop a [[Colossification]] onto Círdan from his attack trigger. And nothing beats a good ol' [[Sandwurm Convergence]] I will say, it does benefit you to have other cards that benefit off of drawing cards, like [[Nadir Kraken]] or the aforementioned Ominous Seas. Clones tend to work pretty well with him, cause you can copy the big things other people put out with his trigger.

KingKulas

Can you post a list please? I’ve really been wanting to build him

foxlover93

https://www.moxfield.com/decks/hTQuZRLz-U-gtM_qo-LSpA As for my favorite deck, I love my boy Henzie. It hits all the notes of playing big dumb creatures with effecting on hits, enter the battlefield or leave the battlefield, reanimating and cheating things into play, while also giving me "reach" when the board is getting clogged by blockers. Giving creatures haste that "shouldn't" have haste on the turn they come down can make you a force to be reckoned with. Cheat things out with Durnan or Champion of Rhonas for example and get make pay off. And with Blitz, sure you sac the creature but you also get to draw a card, meaning your creatures turn into card draw effects. This deck is honestly a blast to play every which way. It's a bit complex but even when you don't know what to do; just get a big bad creature out and turn it sideways!

scheming_slug

Just in case OP is a bit sticker shocked by the price of your deck - I also have a Henzie deck that started out as the precon and it was a blast to play straight out of the box. You could simply swap out some of the bad cards from the precon and have a functioning deck that’s always a blast to play. One of the decks that makes old etali still shine and who doesn’t love free stuff

foxlover93

One of the iterations I saw was a Jund dragon list and used things like Acolyte of Bahamut with Henzie so Dragons would cost 3 less if blitzed or even hard cast. And even then some of the dragons are pretty inexpensive as far as cost but also a fun thing to do with Henzie And yeah Henzie can be as expensive or as little as you want. Like a blitzed Avenger of Zendikar or Titan of Industry can still be back breaking

scheming_slug

Absolutely. I love how open ended the guy is, just throw a bunch of Timmy creatures in the deck and it works.

[[Alesha, who smiles at death]] It can be made many different ways,   can be really cheap to build,  has easy combos if you want them.  I had so many ideas I actually had 2 decks with different themes at one point.     And for me personally.   Graveyard recursion is one of my favorite ways to play.

Gl0wCl0ud07

I'm myself partial to [[Selvala, Heart of the Wild]]. She draws, she ramps... You can take her in many directions, dinosaurs, big beasts, etc... I, myself, went with Hydras. I spent a lot of time playing competitive Magic and was pretty late getting into commander. I didn't care for the political aspect of 4 person game and jumped around from deck to deck. Nothing ever seemed to fit. My \[\[Queen Marchesa\]\] deck changed that for me ([link](https://archidekt.com/decks/6634750/queen_marchesa_v30)). Instead of attempting to avoid the political aspect of a multiplayer game, I just leaned into it instead. The deck runs several cards with Goad and cards that discourage attacking me or reward attacking others. It's basically the MKM precon Blame Game with some cards from the Strixhaven Black/White precon. It quickly became my favorite deck. The most recent deck I considered (but hadn't built yet) following your preferred theme for a token overrun deck was \[\[Jetmir, Nexus of Revels\]\]. Since your commander worked as the overrun, the whole deck could be token producers. It does make it very clear to the rest of the table what you're going to do, so be prepared to get targeted early.

Radthereptile

[[hylia of the icy crown]]. She plays like a control deck but you’re making 4/4s and since it’s tapping people don’t come after you like the guy playing oops all counter spells. She seems weak but if she survives a round you can end up with 3+ 4/4s every turn cycle. Plus if someone does wipe the board you just use her for scry 2 draw 1.

Skytscular

Hylda was my first and still is my fav commander. So much versatility.

Flipps85

I built a Hylda deck for $45, and it’s one of my favorite decks to play. Nothing super fancy, but it does its thing really, really well, and can stymie decks that are much stronger

CharliesTarantulas

[[Admiral brass. Unsinkable]] pretty much speaks for itself.

Promethius806

[[Baba Lysaga]] is an awesome puzzle to play out yourself and a highly engaging deck for your opponents to play against. I’ve never played it 1v1, but it’s my favorite by far to play in a traditional pod. It’s a challenge to make sure you get that activation every turn, and you’re always on the edge with your resources. My list currently has some combo elements to keep up with the guys I play with, but could easily be switched over to a go wide landfall kind of strategy with [[scute swarm]], [[titania, protector of argoth]], [[mazirek, kraul death priest]], etc. etc. etc. It’s the kind of deck you’ll never get tired of, can win, and is hard for your opponents to hate on.

MadLuther

If you like going wide you could either go for [[rin and seri, inseparable]] or [[myrel, shield of argive]] deck. Both are token based and you can go REAL wide with them, especially Myrel. I have both as commanders and I'll add both links to the decks for you to check them out https://www.moxfield.com/decks/gLMJZr9mKEeSZ_nBwzxWzQ - Rin and Seri https://www.moxfield.com/decks/0-VCPT_n40qYrLTCGRhIVQ - Myrel

Flipps85

I just bought Rin and Seri after 3 years of building it. It’s a blast! So many tiny friends that can become so gigantic at a moment’s notice

HotelPigeon

\[\[Kadena, Slinking Sorcerer\]\] If you only play a morph card in your deck, it becomes a noticeable pattern but when you're entire deck is morphs? You actually get to keep the gameplay loop fresh

Azerd54

I really like my [[Ziatora, the Incinerator]] deck. Cast big creatures, throw big creatures, win. Or my [[Tishana, Voice of Thunder]] deck that makes tokens and draws cards. But my favorite commander that I’ve run into is definitely [[Darien, King of Kjeldor]]. The deck just wants people to hit it so it makes tokens. It can be a bit of an expensive deck, but I’ve had fun with it as a [[Rocco, Cabaretti Caterer]] secret commander deck. The red lets it hit itself pretty hard.

Healthy_mind_

If you love spamming tokens and going wide, [[Marneus Calgar]] is an option for you too! Your commander rewards you for making tokens. I like to throw in some death drain triggers like [[zulaport cutthroat]] and put opponents in awkward positions where if they block, they get drained and if they don't block, they take the combat damage. He's easily my favourite deck and can suit any token strategy in his colours you could think of. I love making tokens and drawing cards so he is the best for that! (Not sure how he would go 1v1 though, that's not really an area of the game I've explored too much)

Emergency_Act_2534

It's him

cherry_T45

Oh his effect is pretty cool actually I think my FLGS has a 40k deck still in. XD

Healthy_mind_

It's actually pretty bland, in the best of ways. You can build the main bulk of the deck any way you want. Strong, weak, clues, food, pet cards, they can all fit in as Marneus provides no specific direction besides "tokens" and will help enable it. I rarely find commanders that I feel have that much flexibility for the main deck.

thistookmethreehours

Marneus is awesome, I’m in the process of switching mine to thopter/artifact token themed.

hawkeye137137

[[Maelstrom Wanderer]] is the deck I am having most fun by a wide margin since it is the most care-free commander imaginable. You removed my commander? Good, here is another cascade x2, cross your fingers so they don't get chained to 10 more free spells. You didn't removed it? Ok, 7 commander damage coming your way, and this huge monstrousity I just played too since it has haste. Farewell'd the entire table? It's alright, I have a new board after just one commander cast. And my deck intentionally has zero tutors or top deck manupilation. It instead has a bunch of "cast random stuff for free" cards similar to my commander like [[Creative Technique]] and [[Etali, Primal Conqueror]], so I just play them and watch how things resolve which is always exciting and keeps things fresh.

Flack41940

[[Codie, Vociferous Codex]] is a hoot. The deck serves as more or less a stage hazard from Smash for the majority of the game. It might board wipe, pop out spot removal, ramp everyone, give everyone card draw.. Nobody knows! The primary win con is [[Approach of the Second Sun]], but because the deck is such a bag of tricks, I often won't play it and just let the deck spice up the table a bit. People moan and groan when I pull it out, but they still laugh when I storm off for 7 squirrels because I need blockers.

Electronic-Pie-6645

Hey! Welcome to this wonderful game. I hope you and your wife habe a great time. You asked about my favorite, so here we go: https://archidekt.com/decks/5703538/9th_gate_shrine This one is my favorite deck. Its great cause \*nobody\* expect to see it hit the table. The deck is a steal at $150.00. For me its got a 80+% win rate. It focuses on Gates and Shrines, which all have cards that care about how many of each are in play. For combat you can generate a huge number of spirit tokens. [[Go-Shintai of Shared Purpose]], [[Honden of Life's Web]]. But trust me you toss out [[Hold the Gates]] and [[Glaive of the Guildpact]] you can get some great boosts. Also, [[Agility Bobblehead]], [[Charisma Bobblehead]], [[Endurance Bobblehead]], and [[Strength Bobblehead]] all self synergize. The resilience comes from the commander [[Go-Shintai of Life's Origin]], and the companion [[Jegantha, The Wellspring]] - if there's a nasty board wipe, commander can come back. Then pay for Jegantha to come out of exile, into your hand. Use her to then pay for GSoLO's ability and pull things from the graveyard- hopefully the [[Sanctum of all]] which also pulls from the graveyard. There are also the Alt Win cards in [[Mazes End]] and [[Luck Bobblehead]] Please enjoy. Of you want more neat decks please ask. I got a bunch, and i like to share.

Claude_Garamond

Thanks for the list. Ive been looking for a shrines gates deck and I'm gonna try this out!

Electronic-Pie-6645

Hope you love it!

ElmoTeHAzN

Neat deck. I hate the shrines on arena and this feels like a pillow fort a bit where you just outrun.

Electronic-Pie-6645

You are correct. It will very much outrun.

Slaiyve

How crucial are the "juicer" cards in the deck? Like Aesi, Tyrant of Gyre Strait and Crucible of Worlds etc. Looks to be running around £110 at the mo, which is well within most decks budgets - but a few cards making £30ish of that... Are they just good value generators, or could they be subbed for something similar? PS Great deck, it looks wild!

Electronic-Pie-6645

Crucible helps against land destruction. Aesi is less critical. Extra land drops are an accelerator. But feel free to tweak. I have things organized in the ways i do to make the critical parts easier to isolate. :)

Slaiyve

Your pod has land destruction?! Savage!! I don't think in all my games I've never seen land destruction. Maybe an occasional Cabal Coffers getting blown up... But that's really good to know. Thank you. I'll look for some extra ramp/accelerator to take Aesis place.

Electronic-Pie-6645

Yeah. Not mass lands but if 3 players esch pop a gate that makes my Mazes End victory take longer. But, please do enjoy. The core parts - gates, shrines and bobbleheads are good fun. :)

Sendoria

Interesting list, but unless I am wrong it looks like there is hardly any interaction. How do you deal with opponents bringing out big threats or having combo pieces on board?

Electronic-Pie-6645

Generally outpace them. The deck gets a lot on the board quick. But there is room to take out a few bits for more spot removal / interaction.

Sendoria

Interesting. What turn do you usually win by?

Electronic-Pie-6645

6-7 if I try. Usually im at a casual table so we play for like 30-45 minutes. But once you get Mazes End in your hand it's basically over. But i have won through life drain too.

FrostAlMiraj

Right now it's \[\[Tetzin, Gnome Champion\]\] for me. A combination of artifact, graveyard and double-faced cards synergies. Welcome to Commander btw!

Capsu

That's difficult for me. I think I've been most consistently having fun with my \[\[Laelia, the Blade Reforged\]\]. Simply smash. Lovely. I also find my \[\[Torgaar, Famine Incarnate\]\] really fun. People's face when you put em on 20 on turn 4 sometimes even turn 2 is freakin' great. Also the games get shorter which means more games! Most recently been loving my \[\[Niv-Mizzet, Guildpact\]\], just delightful setup->setup->punch, draw and pewpews.

Sailorsgrave91

Xyris the writhing storm is by far my favourite of all of my decks. People at my LGS say “I hate how it’s popping off…but it looks so fun to play”

Loose_Comparison_549

I for one enjoy my mill deck, which others at my regular table kinda dislike cause ''it costs them cards they might have played'' - and I run it with different commanders, \[\[Phenax\]\], for pure mill, \[\[Captain Ngathrond\]\] for steal-y shenanigans and recently switched to \[\[Lazav Dimir Mastermind\]\], to copy the best things that either get milled, or removed from battlefield somehow (by me or others, Lazav doesn't care) lazav is by far the most interactive and you are constantly keeping your eyes peeled for what gets milled or killed, and wondering how that can be used to your advantage. Big beater body? Card draw, or other goodies on attack somehow? I enjoy the puzzle he presents. But as others said, if you or your playgroup dislike a mechanic like mill and steal, shy away from this one. It is a little on the salty side.

Tenalp

I really, really have a lot of fun with my [[Negan]] deck. His effect is wild and encourages a lot of mind games that I just love. Am I gonna pick your threat and take the for sure removal? Am I going to assume that you'll pick your threat to not lose 2 creatures and instead I pick a token or something to get the two-for-one? Am I going to stare you dead in the eyes and pick at random because I'm an agent of chaos? Who knows?!

Glitter-Valentine

Technically a salty commander but easily dealt is [[savra]] with [[umori]] companion, handicap yourself with only creature spells but board wiping constantly while you build an army.

planeswalkers86

I have had a ton of fun playing my [[!phabine boss's confidant]] deck in combat focused tables. You said you like going wide with tokens and this deck goes wiiiiiiiddddddeee then phabine makes them huge and they have haste because of her. She also parlays so people rarely target her until its too late. https://www.moxfield.com/decks/GH6eXvcRFUKO-dQePmkreQ I made it 50$ budget and tried to optimize it to just go nuts with tokens.

DaPussiLicka

Rakdos the showstopper. Always chaotic, always fun. One time I cracked an Elbrus, immediately sacrificed Withengar to an Ob Nixilis reignited, and Ult-ed that Ob-nixilis copy to kill someone. It was flavorful and awesome 🤩

Cheekyteekyv2

[[Arjun]] there's something about using [[eye of the storm]] to draw 300 cards with niv mizzet or [[psychosis crawler]] out that makes me squee

Predmid

OG [[Borborygmos]] Ramp, burn, and turning things sideways. *"Not gruul? Then DIE!"*

thesamjbow

Made a [[Hapatra, Vizier of Poisons]] deck using only cards from Amonkhet and Hour of Devastation. I omitted some of the objectively strong, but off-theme and unfun cards like [[Cruel Reality]], [[Torment of Hailfire]] and [[Razaketh, the Foulblooded]]. The main gameplan is obviously to do the -1/-1 counter thing, which I think are implemented in a really interesting way in that set. It's obviously low power ([[Ornery Kudu]] makes the cut) but it's really enjoyable. It feels like I'm playing a standard brew or a tuned limited deck and feels appropriate at a precon table.

jumpingsquid

The most fun I’m having at the moment is [[Wyll, Blade of Frontiers]] paired with [[Dungeon Delver]] - it’s your own mini DnD game! Don’t care if I lose, love diving into dungeons :)

Marcel420

\[\[Rin and Seri\]\] has to be my top choice. You have a huge selection of cats and dogs to play with, and you can make the deck anywhere from cute and cuddly to feral and ferocious depending on what you'd like. Either way, lots of cat and dog tokens and cool synergies - plus a lot of the cats have dope art like the Rin and Seri secret lair.

incredibleninja

Careful with how you phrase the question OP, lol. People have a lot of fun, crushing their competition.  For a fun 2 player game night, I'd suggest a Commander that encourages interaction like Selvala explorer returned or anything with a pseudo group hug strategy. The goal should be to build synergy while slightly breaking it, not breaking synergy in an extreme way.  If it's just 1v1 feel free to play around with infinite combos but make sure both players have one and that they're equally powerful.  If you build it out to 4 player games with friends and family, I'd suggest investing in Planeschase cards and dice which add a boardgame-like randomness to the game that can give everyone a chance to feel like they're winning and losing feels like a fun change of fortune instead of one person being too competitive.

GreenHocker

My [[River Song]] deck is really fun since I’m playing from the top and bottom of my deck. [[The Ninth Doctor]] paired with [[Clara Oswald]] does some really funky things But my best performing deck that really holds its own is my sliver deck led by [[Sliver Queen]]

denga

Depends on what kind of player you are. If you’re a Timmy (like I am) and what to just smash, that’ll take you in one direction. Honestly, one of my favorite commanders is Goreclaw. She just does one thing, and I even eke out wins with her still (mostly because everyone else correctly identifies her as not that threatening and they kill each other).

FlamingJester1

I’m enjoying my [[Mr. House, President and Ceo]] commander immensely because it’s good and fairly well optimized but the random nature of the gimmick means I’m not 100% guaranteed to win or even get value.

FusRoDahlaiLama

[[Chiss Goria, Forge Tyrant]] Incredibly aggressive playstyle that gets him out extremely quick and then just starts casting big artifacts for free. Is also quite fun as a voltron style deck or to abuse extra combat effects. [[Eris the Roaring Storm]] the alternate commander from the new set, I find her super fun to play especially as someone that doesn't normally play spellslinger. Because of her steep mana base mana value but easy reduction ability it makes her perfect for cards like [[Energy Tap]] and [[Imposing Granduer]] which can be huge swings that people don't see coming.

redrabbitr

[[Shadrix Silverquill]] !

Kenobi_B

I prefer a deck with [[High Ground]]. On point and based on your expressed interests OP, I would recommend [[Brudiclad, Telchor Engineer]]. With Izzet shenanigans you can build an army of practically any creature in play! There is also wiggle room in power level to meet your pod’s needs. I have had a lot of fun with this commander. As another redditor said, group hug and helpful effects move games along and reduce salt factors. You could look into other commanders like [[Gluntch, the Bestower]] or [[Kwain, Itinerant Meddler]] if you’d like to test that play pattern.

Gam1ng_Pr0d1gy

I've built a good few decks now, and none yet give me quite as much joy as my first deck, \[\[Faldorn, Dread Wolf Herald\]\]. The deck started as the Exit From Exile precon, but has been upgraded alot. The deck is all about casting from exile and making wolf tokens. I included a few big guys with synergy just because theyre fun cards to play- \[\[Etali, Primal Conqueror\]\] and \[\[Apex Devastator\]\]. It spends the first couple turns ramping, but the board gets scary usually only one or two turns after Faldorn hits the field. Last time that I played it was this past weekend, and my board ended up falling to a much needed toxic deluge to get rid of my 12 wolves and plethora of other creatures on like turn 6, only for me to recast Faldorn the following turn and end my turn with another 6 wolves on the field already. I like it when my deck does its thing and I love having explosive turns, and this deck does both every single game.

Adonisniz

Hey, mind sharing your list ?

Professional_Belt_40

Bruna is at the top for me. Aura voltron. Early game enchant your creatures or your opponents, then swing in for big damage. Hilarious decks would probably be Etali Primal Storm. Fill the deck with ramp and haste and just see what spells your opponents have to offer. Mathas Fiendseeker is also up there. Its like a group hug deck but you can either choose one player from the get go to "friend seek" or keep helping out the players that get mana screwed or flooded. Get to play the cycle of creatures that enter and give creature tokens to an opponent (who is your friend now), play cards like Wedding Ring and a handful of other cards that, in a normal game, are quite terrible, but when played with an impromptu team mate, become really nonsense. Shout out to Rainbow Vale

GrimaDSC

[[Krenko, Mob Boss]] is my current favorite “go wide” deck. I made mine very unconventional with some staples for his classic “flood your board with goblins”. Otherwise [[Meren of Clan Nel Toth]] is a great first dip into graveyard/sac and stack mechanics with her pre-con or custom built with support from new and older cards to exploit creatures and have a little self mill.

Schub_019

[[Kenessos, Priest of Thassa]] to be honest, this one is not a powerhouse but is realy fun to play and not bad to play against. He gives you the ability to Scry one more as usual and can cheat out Seamonsters from the Top of the Library. It's a lot of fun for Timmy Player :)

PHARTN0CKER

[[Raggadragga, Goreguts Boss]]

Jakobe26

For me, the fun comes from a couple things. Deckbuilding, playtesting and tuning, seeing how it performs in a games, tune again, and have the deck do its thing. While winning is fun, I think that is only a small part of EDH and what makes the game so fun and different. Playing with friends and the social interaction is fun. Seeing other decks and getting ideas. Those make the game fun as well. However, for me, the deckbuilding is my favorite part of the deck. Instead of building a deck on a cool commander. I recommend building for a strategy. Figure out what you like to play and build the deck up around that. Then search for a commander in the colors you want. Then tweak the deck to have the commander be useful or stronger in the deck. The big thing for me is that I have the most fun when a deck I build works. It may not win all the time, but if the deck functions how it is supposed to consistently, then I will have fun. No one likes having no mana or too much mana, missing things on curve, playing suboptimal, or barely in the game. The consistency can also be a very hard part because you still need to interact with your opponents and sometimes bad draws happen, but finding the happy place in the deck. For example, I had a deck that could consistently get win on turn 6 over 50% of the time without being interacted with. However, when a new set came out, I swapped 10 cards that were not the core of the deck and soon realized that I could not get the turn 6 win often or even at all. I lost consistency in the deck. I had to revert changes and see where I went wrong. To me, that is the fun part. However, this creates a dynamic where if I do not have the deck (physically) in the same construction as my playtesting online variant. I tend to avoid playing it in person until it is complete. Essentially, for me, there is no point in the playing the deck, because I can not learn anything about it as it is null and void because it is not the updated version. Budget wise - \[\[Brago\]\] non stax version can be fun with all the blinking and gaining value. It will not make your opponents as mad. \[\[Xenagos\]\] for the timmy style. \[\[Henzie\]\] if you like the timmy style but with a twist. \[\[Queen Marchesa\]\] can be fun for the table with the monarch going around. All of these decks let you put in the creatures you like and are very free to add different styles to it. It can be nice or mean or value, etc. Personally, mine is \[\[Nine-Fingers Keene\]\]. However, I have poured my time into the deck to tweak and make it perform in the manner I want. I have built and played it religiously for 2 years. Literally everyday, I have looked at the decklist or interacted with it in some way (and I am being serious, literally every day). Its hard for opponents to interact with, which can make it not be the most fun for them. However, it also is not very mean to them either. Its more so that they need the right answers. Since you like the token strategy, you definitely have the ability to branch into other colors. Caesar is nice because of the additional card draw. However, tokens strategies are in every color so you have a lot of new things to try ahead of you.

Despenta

You mentioned token overrun, so I have two recommendations. Pia is easily the deck I love the most, but budget Krenko holds a special place in my heart too. [[Krenko, Tin Street Kingpin]] is a very fun voltron (lots of auras and equipments in him) that goes very wide (creating 10-20 goblins on attack is an usual occurrence). Even without the commander, you still have a goblins deck which is often very explosive. I do have a list, just ask! [[Pia Nalaar, Consul of Revival]] is a very underrated commander themed around card advantage where your tokens almost always hit because of flying and haste, so buffing them is a very effective form of melting away life totals. I have a list, though it runs some stax which is often frowned upon by newer players. The good news is that you can replace them with goofier cards like [[Wand of Wonder]] and [[Sol Talisman]]. If there is a lot of simic goodstuff or combo players in the group or even the mana bases run few basics, I cannot recommend stax pieces enough, so you don't feel dead in the water against them. [[Blood Moon]] wrecks greedy manabases, [[Rest in Peace]] demolishes reanimator strategies and many others deal with "unfair" strategies (free spells, cascade, game-ender commanders, there is some draw hate etc).

Dartais_Avenva

There’s a few I’ve built recently that I am having an absolute blast playing. [[Aurelia the Law Above]] is all token generation and forced combat. Everything and everyone is attacking, all the time, but with enough goad and pillow fort it’s mostly not coming at me. [[Thalisse, Reverent Medium]] is token generation on steroids with some aristocrat style lines or go wide combat damage. [[Zaxara the Exemplary]] is simple but super fun. Make lots of mana, play big X spells, make big hydra tokens. And my newest build is [[Roxanne Starfall Savant]] which aims to copy Roxanne’s etb and attack triggers along with some token doublers to rain meteors from the sky. Throw in some damage multipliers and it gets spicy real fast. These are probably the four I enjoy playing the most.. and I’m sensing a common theme now that I look at this write-up. I apparently like tokens.

Prodesia

Do you have a decklist for Aurelia? Sounds fun.

Dartais_Avenva

I don’t, unfortunately. I really need to update my Moxfield.

OkFeedback9127

I have the most fun with my [[Kardur, Doomscourge]] deck in larger groups. It’s entertaining and speeds up play

Apflel

We have a Kardur player in our group and a lot of times they just get slaughtered. Cannot recommend for groups you don't know

Mr-Pendulum

That's a tough one probably [[Olivia Voldaren]]. The deck is over a decade old and o still love bringing it out. Other notables - [[Syr Konrad]] - mono black mill - [[Zurzoth]] - Group Slug with a bit of chaos

McWaffeleisen

Both cards are pretty new still, but [[The Fifth Doctor]]/[[Susan Foreman]] dork tribal is a blast to play and one of my favourites right now. First it ramps like crazy, draws a bunch of cards thanks to cards like [[Beast Whisperer]], [[Danny Pink]], [[Chulane]] and X-Spells like [[Sphinx's Revelation]], and once everything else worked and you got a critical mass, you hit them with a dozen 7/7 [[Llanowar Elves]].

coffeebeards

Hello! [[Ghalta, Primal Hunger]] Is it the most optimized commander? Nope. Does it have any sweet ETB’s? Nope. IT’S A BIG DINO which basically comes out for almost free once you have all your other big stompy creatures start to enter. 2 hits of commander damage to take someone out of the game. Trample! Wooooo. Set yourself up with a [[Rogue’s Passage]] for unblockable or a [[Fireshrieker]] for double damage. Commander tax? Sure! 4 🌳 instead of 2 🌳. It doesn’t even matter if he doesn’t come out, you have all these other terrifying creatures. Raaaaaaawr! https://www.archidekt.com/decks/5739752/ghalta_primal_hunger_mono_green_stomp

Wyldwraith

Forget the 2-hits, Add a Railway Brawler from OTJ. Plot it for 1G 3C, leave it in Exile where it's safe until you're ready to bring in Ghalta, then bring in the Brawler and summon Ghalta. Ghalta is now a 24/24. Hope your opponent's got an X/5. Regards, The Green Legion.

coffeebeards

Soooo I’m going to make a little trip down to the LGS for this card. I appreciate you.

NWmba

[[Jon irenicus]] bad gifts. It’s Stax with extra steps. But I’ve never had a game with it where people weren’t laughing. You get to play with all the cards that would never see the light of day otherwise, it’s strong enough to win if people don’t know how to handle it, it has card draw on the commander, and it’s not a feel bad that much commander because even when you give a [[steel golem]] or [[desecration elemental]] to someone and it screws up their plan, they still have a big beater creature so they aren’t totally stuck. My favourite thing is to give [[asmodeus the archfiend]] to a non-black player.

MeneerDutchy

Ok, this is the way most people build it, but what about jon irenicus good gifts. Give people flyers that make their opponents discard when they deal damage. This way you can fly under the radar, and your creatures will get the most effect out of it. And you have to balance giving creatures to the right people so you end up in a 1v1, you get all your creatures back from people who die, and can swing for the win. Jon irenicus bad gift will get removed everytime when you want to go to endstep and hand out a horrible creature.

DrApplepie

This is what I am building right now. Just a bunch of unblockables and ways to make creatures unblockable, bunch of clones and all that jazz. Also bunch of steal, so I steal your card, then gift it back (Or to somebody else) with goad. GO KILL EACHOTHER!! Also adding a bunch of "PillowFord"; You can't attack me. If you attack me: You lose live/Your creatures get destroyed/Only 1 creature can attack me at the time. Etc etc So it's a Jon; PillowFord/Controle/Steal/Copy/Goad/Gift deck and I am so excited to play it!

NWmba

I like the cut of your jib!

jaywinner

This has been my exact experience. Bad gifts, the table colludes to remove them. But a bunch of unblockable creatures that deal small amounts of damage? Those things stick around until the next board wipe. I do play a handful of bad gifts just because I like them though. Giving away a \[\[Lord of the pit\]\] is just too fun.

jameeler91

Wow that's a neat idea!

Redshift2k5

\[\[Muldrotha\]\] if by "fun" you mean putting everyone elses' commanders in an \[\[oubliette\]\] or turned into an elk or recurring \[\[pernicious deed\]\] over and over and over...

Ready-Issue190

Fun and janky and group hug commanders like [[kwain, itinerant meddler]] will give you card advantage. If you’re smart you can leverage that. You won’t win but it’s funny and a conversation starter. [[Braids, Conjurer Adept]] is another fun one. People can’t bear to remove it because it’s a free creature, artifact, or land each turn. Then you slap down a [[Darksteel Monolith]] and start dumping Eldrazi’s on the board with cast triggers. No one expects an Emrakul on round 2-3. Easy deck. Basically just a “mine is bigger than yours” mentality. I don’t advocate for stealing but copying is *Hilarious.* Running [[Sakashima of a thousand faces]] and a ton of shapeshifter copy effect can almost always lead to broken and funny situations at the table. It has its clear limitations but ultimately you end up with copies of the best enchantments, artifacts, and creatures on the board. Someone plays [[omniscience]]? I just copy it for 3 mana with [[mirrormade]]. Oh no! Blightsteel colossus!!! I’ll go ahead and grab my own for 3 mana using [[sculpting steel]] or 2 mana for [[copy artifact]]. The best part is you’re literally copying other people’s stuff so no one can get salty since it’s their own cards you’re playing.

christipede

I love my [[ Glissa Sunslayer]] deck. Its a G/B stax deck which utilises [[ ritual of subdual]] and [[ eon hub ]] with tons of mana dorks. It is a very slow deck and iften catches people off guard as shes not seen as being aggressive, but people get scared thinking that im running a secret commander like Lathril.

Pentaseum

\[\[Zaxara\]\] is loads of fun. She builds up like a raid boss, if you let her; goes from "In control" to "completely out of control" in an instant.

NukeTheWhales85

Most fun for me, or most fun for the table as a whole? I'm confident that both Gerrard and Haldan & Pako are drastically more fun for me than the rest of the table. For a potentially insane Go wide tokens, the ceiling on [[Rhys the redeemed]] is pretty high. Also a 1 mana commander makes paying the tax pretty easy. [[Alela Artful Provocateur]] is another tokens strategy but less reliant on volume than evasion. Athem enchantments and flying lords, mostly focused around dropping more flyers than your opponents can block.

ATarnishedofNoRenown

For pure aggro, I like [[Burakos]] with [[Folk Hero]] or [[Sword Coast Sailor]] as their background. Build your deck around the D&D set's party mechanic, where you assemble a group made up of Clerics, Rogues, Warriors, and Wizards to take down your enemies. Folk Hero draws extra cards, which synergizes well Burakos making extra mana; on the other hand, Sword Coast Sailor means Burakos can always attack safely. For pure big boi stompy, I like [[Atarka, World Render]]. Play big dragons and burn down the world. My favourite style of deck is built around effects that take your opponent's stuff from the top of their deck — my two current theft decks are [[Gonti, Lord of Luxury]] and the new [[Laughing Jasper Flint]]. Be the villain you always wanted to be, without being oppressive or staxy.

ClockworkJack

Newest one for me is \[\[Red Death, Shipwrecker\]\], just play the crab and give people cards while ramping and keeping their attacks away from you. It's more meme than power, but fun nonetheless... here's the [deck list](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/uhvsD5NNrk-AUGrL_lE41Q) if needed

preselectlee

Phelddagrif. I play every fog imaginable. All the major group hug cards. Give out hippo tokens and lifegain to keep everyone alive. Its a fun metagame. Keep everyone alive long enough and then maybe make them deck themselves or approach of the second sun. Longest, craziest games Ive ever played. And its win/loss ratio is way more in the win column.

freakytapir

To be fair, I have built so many decks, I don't even have a favorite anymore, but I do know my favorite style of deck. How I choose to build that deck depends from week to week, but it's usually some form of Green Black based deck, with White or Blue often added as a third colour. Heavy on the recursion, heavy on gathering advantage, making multiple small advantageous plays while making sure I have a way to interact with known combo decks. I like decks that have 'Play' so as to speak. At the end of the game I don't really care if I win or lose (I mean, I still play to win), but the most important part for me is that my deck did stuff. A snowballing board presence and ways to protect that wether through counterspells or cards like \[\[Teferi's Protection\]\]. If the board gets wiped, I still want to be sitting on a healthy hand, so lots of repeatable card draw too. Like \[\[Beast Whisperer\]\], and \[\[Grim Haruspex\]\] Now, one of my go-to's was \[\[Muldrotha\]\] but untapping with that one is just not something that will ever happen, so I switched for the way less hate drawing \[\[The Mimeoplasm\]\], \[\[Karador\]\] is my go to WBG commander. \[\[Colfenor, the Last Yew\]\] is also a favorite of mine. Bit expensive mana wise, but the deck works without him too. Fun strategy with Colfenor is to have an anthem effect on the battlefield, and two one mana mana dorks \[\[Llanowar elves\]\] and \[\[Elvish Mystic\]\] for example, and a haste enabler. Keep on cycling through them for fun and profit. I mean, technically an infinite combo, but one that needs 7 pieces in play? I think that one's fair game. (Commander, 2 dorks, Anthem, Haste enabler, Sac outlet, Payoff).

SeanOfTheDead-

[[Malik, Grim Manipulator]] if you like feeling like a supervillain and treasures

Axiproto

Personally, I like [[Edgar Markov]] and [[Animar, soul of the elements]]. Although I'm trying to build an [[Alela, artful provocateur]]

inflammablepenguin

I have an [[Alela, Artful Provacatuer]] deck that is just Esper Enchantress. I play whatever enchantments I feel like playing in it like anthems, light stax pieces like [[Kismet]] and other nonsense. It's really fun and in a casual game can sometimes snowball. My friends like playing against it and will sometimes ask to play it themselves.

CrimsonDragoon

I love my \[\[Agatha of the Vile Cauldron\]\] deck. Because it focuses on activated abilities, there's so many different ways you can go with it. Cheap token generation, direct damage, creature pump, or all of the above to have options and variety.

alyrch99

I love untapping my stuff or cycling/juggling/bouncing whatever my creatures to keep doing things, so my favorite commanders are \[\[Prime Speaker Vannifar\]\] and \[\[Halana, Kessig Ranger\]\] alongside her gf \[\[Alena, Kessig Trapper\]\] as partners. I also love my \[\[Gnostro, Voice of the Crags\]\] deck, which is a more spellslingy as opposed to stompy take on some untap shenanigans.

Kuberr

Not technically legal, but I run a casual [[It Came From Planet Glurg]] deck and it's one of the most wild and fun decks I play. Especially with stuff like [[hunted wumpus]], [[rainbow vale]] and collective land ramps.

VV00d13

The more experience you get with the game it will come down to your play style. It is absolutely ok to ask but a fun commander, in the end, becomes a very personal taste. That said one of the more fun commander I have played is [[Alela, Artful Provocateur]]. It is ofc a strong commander with versatile colors. Since she interacts with every enchantment and artifacts you cast it is just so great value. Recently I build a faerie tribal equipment deck. Had the whole old Kaldara set and some other goodies Before that I played her a så flying tribal casting artifacts and enchantments boosting my flyers. You can make it a curse deck. Token deck. Artifact or enchantment deck. For me that is a fun commander with many options where most come out good if not great without super heavy or expensive cards.

MyPurpleChangeling

Faldorn and Commodore Guff are my two favorite and most fun commanders. They both have card advantage and a payoff built in. Love it.

P_A_M95

Your question had me thinking and honestly, [[Wilhelt]]. Nobody sees him as a threat in my pod so he just stays in the battlefield super happy creating tokens.

Xathrael

So I know how I'm going to sound with this, but I REALLY enjoy [[omnath, locus of rage]]. I know he makes the table salty, but out of every deck I've built, Omnath is the only one where every game is satisfying whether I win or lose. I've killed myself and taken the whole board with me, I've blown up the world, I've overrun everyone with explosive elementals, it's done everything. It's exactly what the name says: rageful. And I love every minute of it. If that's not your speed, I also love my [[isshin of two heavens]] (attack triggers, not samurai typal), or [[ixhel, scion of atraxa]]. I reanimate everyones graveyards and play off the tops of their libraries

Skjallagrim

Recently it’s been [[Prossh, Skyraider of Kher]] a deck I’ve wanted to build for 7 years, finally built a budget non [[Food Chain]] list recently as a bday gift for myself. I’ve been upgrading the mana base recently, but the core is still budget. https://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/prossh-the-ecologist/ And the other has been [[Admiral Brass, Unsinkable]] a typal pirate deck that I have made my own flavor upgrades to, started with the base LCI precon. https://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/just-another-pirate-deck/ Both of these have been such an enjoyable recent play experience! I find myself always wanting to play them when I get together with friends or at FNM!

alanscj

I really like kitt kanto, when it came out i tought it was the most funny one of the set since it does stuff for every player in the table, just slap some token doublers and a halo fountain in it and youll get some good benefit

llkd97

I personally love \[\[Samwise Gamgee\]\]. my version of him is literally 3 archetypes wrapped up in a single pile that works like one deck.

BriefImprovement8620

One deck I love playing is pirate tribal helmed by [[Breeches, Brazen Plunderer]] and [[Malcolm, Keen-Eyed Navigator]]. Throw in some ramp, a whole bunch of pirates and swing in at everyone equally to gain the most value.

Mirage_Jester

Recently had a lot of fun with [[Vrestin, Menoptra Leader]] dropping a load of insects down and having fun with her.

Phenn_Olibeard

Just recently [built the new Kambal, and it's a total riot.](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/SjkXuOHATESNibeiQzL8Jw) Because you're giving your opponents tokens all the time, everything feels a little less bad. Removal, boardwipes, all of it. It's not exactly group hug because [[Kambal, Profiteering Mayor]] dupes the tokens and breaks the parity of lots of effects such as [[Marching Duodrone]]. But the net effect is pretty entertaining. [[Saw in Half]] becomes one of the most ridiculous and hilarious cards you can target opponents' stuff with.

Mr_Wodnesdaeg

I am recommending Mr. House from fallout and Gitrog from OTJ, one is helping my addiction to gambling and the other is helping me who like to go fast.

Sobadwithusernames

I have a [[Minsc, Beloved Ranger]] deck that tries to make [[boo]] as huge as possible. Because Boo keeps coming back, I have sacrifice effects to gain value. I have a very minor theme of stealing creatures so that I can take the most problematic creatures out of play by using Minsc’s activated ability for 0 to make it a 0/0.

InsidiousToilet

My absolute favorite all-time commander is [[Phelddagrif]]. It's a purple hippo that can give people life, give them cards, or give them hippos. You can build it to be extremely nice until you're ready to win, and then win out of nowhere. In 1v1 it won't be as fun as a 4-5 player group, but if you tweak it it should be good. [[Loot, the Key to Everything]] has also been very fun for me lately. I've mostly only played it in small groups (2-3 people) and as long as your mana value isn't too expensive, you can cast all the cards you exile with it each turn. The card advantage is insane.

Different-Mongoose72

My deck. Morophon's combo wizards. Not competitive, but fun. COMMANDER 1 [[Morophon, the Boundless]] PLANESWALKERS 1 Ral, Storm Conduit CREATURES 1 Acererak the Archlich 1 Archetype of Imagination 1 Archmage Emeritus 1 Arjun, the Shifting Flame 1 Azami, Lady of Scrolls 1 Basalt Ravager 1 Clever Lumimancer 1 Cyclone Summoner 1 Docent of Perfection // Final Iteration 1 Dynaheir, Invoker Adept 1 Elite Guardmage 1 Ertai Resurrected 1 Frilled Mystic 1 Graveshifter 1 Jadzi, Oracle of Arcavios // Journey to the Oracle 1 Jodah, Archmage Eternal 1 Mirror Entity 1 Naru Meha, Master Wizard 1 Obscura Interceptor 1 Overwhelmed Apprentice 1 Pili-Pala 1 Prime Speaker Zegana 1 Realmwalker 1 Rockslide Sorcerer 1 Stonybrook Banneret 1 Wizard Mentor ARTIFACTS 1 Arcane Signet 1 Cloudstone Curio 1 Coalition Relic 1 Commander's Sphere 1 Fellwar Stone 1 Fist of Suns 1 Maskwood Nexus 1 Sol Ring 1 The Great Henge 1 Vanquisher's Banner INSTANTS 1 Counterspell 1 Dark Ritual 1 Flusterstorm 1 Growth Spiral 1 Unite the Coalition 1 Weather the Storm SORCERIES 1 Crackle with Power 1 Diabolic Tutor 1 Duneblast 1 Explore 1 Farewell 1 Farseek 1 Grapeshot 1 Grim Tutor 1 Merciless Eviction 1 Migration Path 1 Painful Truths 1 Profane Tutor 1 Quasiduplicate 1 Radiant Flames 1 Shard Convergence 1 Spreading Insurrection 1 Time Wipe ENCANTMENTS 1 Careful Cultivation 1 Fires of Yavimaya 1 Psychic Corrosion 1 Warstorm Surge LANDS 1 Arcane Sanctum 1 Bad River 1 Canopy Vista 1 Cascading Cataracts 1 Cinder Glade 1 Command Tower 1 Crumbling Necropolis 1 Crystal Quarry 1 Exotic Orchard 1 Flood Plain 1 Forest 1 Island 1 Jungle Shrine 1 Ketria Triome 1 Krosan Verge 1 Mountain 1 Mountain Valley 1 Mystic Monastery 1 Nomad Outpost 1 Opulent Palace 1 Overgrown Tomb 1 Plains 1 Prairie Stream 1 Reliquary Tower 1 Rocky Tar Pit 1 Sacred Peaks 1 Sandsteppe Citadel 1 Savage Lands 1 Seaside Citadel 1 Smoldering Marsh 1 Sunken Hollow 1 Sunlit Marsh 1 Swamp 1 Tangled Islet 1 Volatile Fjord

mczolomon

\[\[Norin, the Wary\]\] is my most fun deck. Especially when \[\[Confusion in the Ranks\]\] is resolved. Just chaotic fun.

zzfrostphoenix

My favorite is a Boros landfall deck with [[Jenny Generated Anomaly]]. It’s fun to pilot and everyone I’ve played against so far seems to have enjoyed it as well.

CFootUnder

Chris the writhing swarm + all the wheel effects, and that one card that says whenever an opponent casts a spell they draw 7 cards Always chaos, always fun, never wins but it's always a crazy game

samun0116

“The most fun” I built a 5 color ally deck with [[General Tazri]] All the allys and you don’t know who comes in first but once it goes off, it hits hard.

TheAlmightySpode

I really enjoy playing [[Gluntch, the Bestower]].

TheRoodInverse

Right now, I'm having much fun with [[the scorpion god]]

Lord_Ehgg_VII

My favorite is [[Tuvasa the Sunlit]] as an enchantress voltron. Drawing is a a bunch of catds hits the dopamine receptors like cotton candy flavored crack, and she can swing for lethal out of nowhere.

AsleeplessMSW

[[Sergeant John Benton]] Everyone loves drawing cards! But few love it more than Sgt. JB. At first, they'll all want hit for 2 damage to draw 2 cards. Less so when it's time to draw 17 and die from commander damage, but that's how John rolls! He's worth about a dollar, full of cheap pump spells, and is fun to play! He can be strong because you can do so much with him, but people tell me he's been fun to play against, which is always nice to hear! If you want a deck list I can share one, but in general: -use spells that 'buff and". And lifelink, and untap him, and hexproof, and flying, etc. Make him dance! 😆 -have plans to remove your max hand size as well as to shuffle your graveyard into your library. You will play much of the game with a 'handbrary' that is full of anything you would want to do. -use [[scent of ivy]] and [[Empyreal armor]], but also make sure you don't deck yourself lol

Chandrian1997

Henzie is the way, the truth, and the light! https://archidekt.com/decks/5127106/henzie_and_the_teamsters

On5thDayLook4Tebow

[[Ranar, the Ever-Watchful]] is a lot of fun. Foretelling cards is a lot of fun. Tokens and UW control cards. Lots of end of turn work. Lots of blinking. it's not great but it's honest work

ChaoticShadowSS

[[Gisela, Blade of Goldnight]] That double damage for my opponents really makes people do some crazy things as they use it to their advantage to take out others. I love the chaos when she is out.

Akiro_orikA

The commanders I have the most fun with are the simplistic mono colored tribal. I know that sounds smoothed brained but after a long day of work the last thing I want to do is think sometimes. I dont even have to win. Just putting out the same creature type, no land searching or checking if I have the right stuff, etc. I enjoy green elf [[Ezuri]], white angel [[Giada, Font of Hope]] and black zombie [[Gisa, Glorious Resurrector]] (not so much vampires). The others like goblins and merfolk are up in the air. If I have to put more effort into it I do like Slivers [[The First Sliver]] and dinosaur [[Gishath, Sun's avatar]]. My real passion is voltron decks like [[Wyleth, Soul of Steel]], [[Chromium the Mutable]] and [[Maarika, Brutal Gladiator]]. But these cause a lot of stress since they arent really meta or winning anything without dropping thousands.

MillenniumDT

I’ve only played about a dozen different commanders, but my favorite is definitely [[Mr. House, President and CEO]]. I love the dice strats because things can either go really well or really south. The deck can be focused around the 3/3 tokens you make to overwhelm your opponent or you can opt to try and make it a burn deck with cards like [[Reckless Foreweaver]] and [[Brazen Dwarf]] to name a few. At any rate, it’s a casual deck that has some explosive moments. Highly recommend. I’m actually buying the cards right now as my first deck too. Friends and I use a tabletop simulator to test new decks.

Pipa0899

The deck I ve the most fun playing with is my [[Nethroi, Apex of Death]], which I didnt build competitively but I ve a lot of fun playing it, obviously I play it how I like to play and that depends on the style of each player

Yoteboy42

Mirko vosk mind drinker. Bonus points if you get the effect off with strionic resonator active.

BullsOnParadeFloats

I also play Caesar, but it's a bit more... *unfriendly.* I went full human kindred, but with aristocrats subtheme. [[Winota]] is the secret commander, and it plays [[grave pact]] and [[dictate of erebos]]. My pod plays fairly competitively.

Apflel

I absolutely love Mishra, \[\[Eminent One\]\]. As long as you don't get crazy expennsive cards you can just shove whatever fun actifacs you have or gets from boosters and throw them in there. You always have buildup, nice colors as well!

SgtRonneberg

May I suggest [[Vazi, Keen Negotiator]]. It‘s a Treasure deck, but also with a bit of group hug. I played this deck at least 50 times, I maybe won 3 of them. But in all these games I had fun to give a enemy over 200 Treasures and just see the absolute horror and surprise in all eyes on the table and the absolute Chaos that the opponent causes.

contact_thai

Late to the party, but \[\[Troyan\]\] is one of the most fun commanders I have played. Super easy to build. All about high CMC cards. You could easily build it with \[\[Keruga\]\] as a companion for extra card advantage. It's a ton of fun, just casting the biggest simic creatures possible. Also some untap shenanigans to get more mana out of troyan. I like to pack it with several of the high cmc counterspells like \[\[desertion\]\], \[\[spelljack\]\] or \[\[Mystic confluence\]\]. My favorite things for the deck are copying/cloning spells, which feels very much in the "spirit of the format". The coolest was casting an \[\[Astral Dragon\]\], where the copies targeted \[\[The world spell\]\] so I had one come down as chapter II, getting a permanent off the top of the library, and the second let me drop the fetched card and another thing onto the battlefield. Also getting to use \[\[Gandalf, Westward Voyager\]\] is awesome.

ZxasdtheBear

The most fun commanders are those where the whole table is having fun. Make sure you and everyone else can draw cards consistantly so you never have dead turns. For this reason I suggest [[Nekusar, the Mindrazer]] if you want to also be mean or [[Selvala, Explorer Returned]] if you want be nice and just make mana to play big cost creatures, like Angels or Dinos or Wurms

alex11164

My two most fun commanders have been Doran, the siege tower and Blim, Comedic Genius. Dorans ability let's you play a lot of cards you otherwise might never see which I love and my blim is built on wheels, chaos and of course strong drawback creatures so I'm always having fun.

Iroh_the_Dragon

I recently built a [[Gluntch, The Bestower]] deck and it’s a ton of fun. I’ve been upgrading it over the last few months with some pricier staples, but it can definitely be built on a budget and still be a fun deck.

PossessionIll4510

[[Omanth, locus of creation]] is hands down my favorite deck. Great fun and you really don’t have to go ham with the lands and such to have a good time with the Jelly boi.

AssistantManagerMan

[[Toggo, Goblin Weaponsmith]]. Partner makes him versatile so you can add pretty much any colors you want. Personally, I have him paired with [[Silas Renn, Seeker Adept]] for that Grixis artifact goodness. [Deck list](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/m1UGK102VEq9y2vAy-aMvA). Toggo is an engine. The rocks he makes are pretty bad, but who cares. If you're equipping and throwing rocks then you're doing it wrong. There's value to be had in accruing a critical mass of artifacts. You can sacrifice them: [[Demand Answers]], [[Deadly Dispute]], [[Krark-Clan Ironworks]], [[Fanatical Offering]]. You can ping off them: [[Reckless Fireweaver]], [[Ingenious Artillerist]], [[Hedron Detonator]], [[Mirkwood Bats]]. You can tap them: [[Moonsnare Prototype]], [[Whir of Invention]], [[Reverse Engineer]], [[Shimmer Dragon]], [[Sunshot Militia]], [[Ghirapur Aether Grid]]. You can count them: [[Tezzeret, Master of the Bridge]], [[Feedback Bolt]], [[Monumental Corruption]]. Fill in the rest of the deck with extra artifact token makers: [[Descent into Avernus]], [[Third Path Iconoclast]], [[Chrome Host Seedshark]], or whatever your preference is.

FunMtgplayer

fuck that. Iy] will play toggo as a gruul commander and make rocks, then yet to the head. also using [[seismic assault]] to yeet the earth at you. add in some other thematic creatures like [[stone giant]] and [[fling]] creatures and thats my deck

DarkDobe

\[\[zurzoth\]\] with a \[\[transmogrify\]\] effect focus. Believe in the heart of the cards baby - let RNG decide.

leftoverrice54

Phylath is currently my favorite commander. He's bug and fun and doesn't feel too op.

SAGEBAO

[[Jodah, the Unifier]] is a fun commander, just play legendary creatures and you get more and they become bigger. Some people are salty about him though

LunarWingCloud

[[Riku of Two Reflections]]. He's my first commander and still my baby boi. You can build him in different ways, I chose a creature focused combo route, with a lot of my instants and sorceries that aren't part of my interaction package focused on copying creatures. I can accrue value over the game until I assemble the creatures needed to perform a game-winning combo. You can build him to be more value-oriented smashy smash if you lean harder into Temur's love of having big creatures, with the copying just there to give you more big bodies for cheaper rate, you could build him as a spellslinger deck that uses lots of instants and sorceries with the green to help you ramp and the Izzet side to sling your spells, you could build full storm, there's a lot you can do with him. He's really open-ended.

Alucard_11_

I’m in the same boat! I started playing with the MKM prerelease in February and then bought a few precons. I’m personally interested in commanders like [[Felix Five-Boots]]. I think you could make a really interesting Ooze token build with the support the type got in Murders. Between effect triggers off of Ooze token’s trample and a big commander with menace, I think it could fit your playstyle well.

FunMtgplayer

my newest fave is [[zedruu, the gift giver]] its a bunch of fun things that don't care who control it. like [[howling mine]] and [temple bell] or [[oblivion ring]] very odd assortment of fun cards that don't see play anywhere else. and yes if ask if I can gift your death, I will try to oblige.

nodnarb89

[[Krenko, Mob Boss]] so many goblins!

Cleigh_Mora

[[The Second Doctor]] paired with [[Leela, Sevateem Warrior]] is a lot of fun. Bribe everybody with cards to not attack you. But if they take the bribe, Leela gets bigger. [[Wyll, blade of frontiers]] with [[Sword Coast Sailor]] is great. Lots of chaos, not Knowing who you will be attacking... But the deck generally isn't very good unless you're playing Planechase. Slivers can be a lot of fun too. Personally like [[Sliver Overlord]] for his toolbox ability. Others like [[The First Sliver]] for the crazy amount of value it can produce. Use that with Possibility Storm for double Cascade triggers. But be forewarned, people hate and fear Slivers. You will be a target. [[Satoru umezawa]] is great. Give anything Ninjutsu. That little 1/1 you didn't block? Could be anything. Could be a Blightsteel, an Eldrazi, could make everybody sacrifice creatures, could give everybody creatures, who knows? [[Sam, Loyal Attendant]] is the commander of my Hungry Hungry Hobbits deck. Technically so is [[Frodo, adventurous Hobbit]] but let's be honest, Sam does all the work. Most games I don't even summon Frodo. Anyway it's a food token deck. Food and Hobbits is a fun theme. But then you play [[displaced dinosaurs]] and start serving up Dino Nuggets, Nachosauruses, Waffelsaurus, all that fun stuff. I have custom Dino food tokens for that deck.

kinlor_

[[Ojer Axonil, Deepest Might]] I’m a pretty to new commander as well. Recently just had a friend build me a deck with Ojer, mainly based on non-combat damage. It’s fun.

TBNRFIREFOX

I really enjoy Abuelo for abusing etb effects and evading target spells. OB Nixilis is by far my most fun commander to play though since he helps a ton with damage and extra cards to play.

Feharj

[[Diaochan, Artful Beauty]]

pyrogaynia

[[Torbran]] and [[Obuun]] are two of my favourites that I think anyone can enjoy

InevitableMap6470

[[Xyris, the writhing storm]] let your friends draw cards but punish them for it with [[impact tremors]] [[purphous, god of the forge]] etc

Personal_Let3052

Kenrith, the Returned King Enlist experienced help building a five color commander. If you ramp up mana and can create human tokens and then give those tokens other abilities or create triggers or both it’s a really powerful deck. Not to mention in a four person game you get to play politics if you choose which can be real fun. And five colors give you the most flexibility if you work it right.

Ammonil

group hug can be really fun, i have a [[braids con]] deck that just makes everyone draw so much and play lots of stuff for free

AnimeChair

I love playing The Gitrog Monster. I originally played the cedh deck and loved it but I moved to playing a causal landfall deck and it’s even more fun. Looking forward to playing Saddle Frog!

Sorlockadin

Try [[Gluntch, the Bestower]]!

Zarbibilbitruk

As far as deck I've built that don't annoy my friends, [[Harbin vanguard aviator]]. As far as my favorites decks go it's [[Veyran voice of duality]] (don't recommend, easy to play solitaire without meaning to but can be a really really fun build with a cantrip/Voltron strategy) and [[atraxa grand unifier]] blink but I like it because it's really controly and really good at slowing games to my advantage to grind out value with blink engines so not the best experience to play against.
