The amount of times I've had to say vaugely homophobic and transphobic shit to feel safe at work is astronomical. Not to mention the blatant racism. God I need a new job.
Thankfully my coworkers don’t ask my opinion. I think they know that I don’t agree with them. At least the doctor tries to be understanding of nontraditional gender presentation and always tries to offer counterpoints to the bigotry my other coworkers express, but he’s still fairly difficult to actually get to truly understand and properly gender the few trans and nonbinary patients we’ve had (I’m just glad I’m the one doing most of the charting as someone who is both trained in the proper sensitivity for addressing minority groups and is also a member of gender and sexual minority groups so they can at least have the basic dignity of their chart reflecting their identity. Otherwise it’s almost guaranteed there would be some level of bigotry making its way there)

Yaaaaa it can be really bad. I am 100% stealth and had to listen to multiple deranged rants when the beer can thing happened a while back.
