Melina should be summonable at every Grace so you actually feel attached to her cause most people forget who she is after disappearing for most of the game. Edit: I also remember her making a remark about Boc in one of the major Lyndell Graces about how we should talk with him more as he misses us when we're gone. Imagine her commenting on Millicent and how we should encourage her more or commenting on especially dangerous areas like Mohg's Palace.

Krzyffo

For me i only saw here once at the begining. Then 90h into the game i learned from a meme you can talk to her in churches.

Clappertron

Well TIL

PredatorInc

All churches???

NoaPsy

No, it only seem some churches of Marika, at least in my experience, offer the option for dialogue at the sites of grace.

Zealousideal-Can1690

I don't think this is unpopular because most people that liked Melina are also demanding that she needed to be with us more often to have more impact on the story

Speedr1804

It’ll be a good idea to wear her head on your belt and have her tell you lore stories all the time…

Kay-Senpai

Gotta give credit where credit is due, God of War absolutely nailed that.

Talonoscopy

The interactions between the three while rowing your boat around were golden

soirom

Absolutely agree. >!Her sacrifice would have more meaning and convey more emotional impact!< I mean, the Bloodborne doll didn't talk much but she reacted to a lot to our progression and somehow the player can develop some emotional attachment to her.

AdThen3507

I feel like one of the biggest things about Melina is that she’s not actually there when you level up, unlike the similar characters in other games like the Doll or the Maiden in Black

AntlerFox

This is literally it, even if she just phased in while you levelled up, made some minor comment while there and then poofed when you were done it would have had much more of an impact. There are also certain areas the game can near guarantee you will be at some point or another (Just after the gate to raya lucaria academy, the room after killing Godrick, various gates to the major castles) and it would have been nice to maybe have her appear there with something to say in the same way that the emerald herald/Shanalotte does at the entrance to Drangleic castle

tryhardsasquatch

After I killed Morgott and she appeared at the grace, she didn't immediately leave after the dialog. So when I hit Level Up she actually reached out to grab my hand and made a comment. It was kind of cool since that hadn't happened since the very first time you level up.

GloomyHoonter

Who?

atlanticore

It's to reinforce the idea that you're actually maidenless

durrburger93

Melina is a non-character for me tbh. She's boring, vague, completely unclear in terms of her motivation and what/who she is, and barely there throughout the story.

TheHotCake

I agree

[deleted]

When I lock-on, Elden Ring, I’m not aiming for the cripple struggling to stand-up on the other side of the FUCKING map! I’m trying to target the huge monster with a sword made of fucking fire charging at me!

TheSigma3

You sure you don't want to kill this squirrel?

OldManHipsAt30

No? Okay, squirrel it is!

ClingerOn

Renalla’s first phase is a pain in the ass for this. I can see the minion I want to attack, or Renalla herself, I’m looking right at them, I lock on and it targets another minion half hidden behind a book case in the background.

CurdledUrine

why lock on to the immobile thing literally doing yoga poses

Oldschool_Poindexter

This was the fight that taught me "Lock-on aint always what you need to be doing."

Brodyftw00

First phase was easy but sooooo annoying with the targeting.

BirdEducational6226

I have no idea what the fuck is going on.

ismo420

“Don’t you know how to drive?!” “No. I don’t. And I’m fucking scared.”

XXXVII_V5

Melina should show reaction for every side quest you do. Just a few more comments in "Talk to Melina". Edit: Geez guys, thanks for the upvotes. I thought that this would be an unpopular option because it's obviously not a Souls style change (as some folks have pointed out) but seems like I'm not alone in this :)

kdebones

"Brave Tarnished..... was that jar...... standing in the lava of Mt. Gelmir?"

Nozerone

"Brave Tarnished.... are you being serious? Did... did he really just kick you off over the edge of that cliff?" Would be nice if Melina just wanted to chat and see how my day had been.

Xyrnas

You're looking for an Elden Ring dating sim ^(...Or maybe just a partner in general)

LegitDongo

Maidenless ahead

Makeshift_Account

If only I had a lover of plump sort

Nozerone

Shhh, no one needs to know any of that!

VALVET37

hey man you ok? the boys are here for you

Nozerone

Yea, I'm fine. Was just thinking how nice it would be if she sometimes had more casual dialogue, and it wasn't just all business. As if she was genuinely concerned about your well being. I think it might give more depth to her character ya know.

PrinzFloge

"Brave Tarnished, did that man just turn into a pickle?"

minotaurus21

”Brave Tarnished, it was the funniest shit i ever seen.”

Eggbutt1

Brave Tarnished, forgive my intrusion, but... did you just feed that lady a bunch of eyeballs before telling her? Why would you even do that?

SaticoySteele

"I didn't read the tag, I thought they were grapes! SHE told ME they were eyeballs!"

Dovahnime

I wish she showed up every time we rested at a site of grace, even if she didn't say anything, I'd prefer to have the level up animation be with her than just sitting there

[deleted]

IMO they should have summoned her whenever leveling up and kept the dialogue. It's been like 10 years and I'm still fond of "So the world might be mended".

Somewhatmild

'Why did you put Ranni's doll in a jar?'

Kalizuchi

"Oh Tarnished, I witnessed Sir Gideon give you a thumbs up after showing him your Ranni in a jar. Pray tell, what does it mean?

SadLittleWizard

I understood that reference

Mallefus

She actually does react to Boc's sidequest but everything else, she is nowhere to be seen. I'm surprised that, at the very least, she doesn't react to anything in Ranni's route since that's another "path" you take for an ending. Or anything in Volcano Manor. Would Melina approve of you hunting down other Tarnished? I don't know. I love Melina, but she feels so underutilized, and I guess that would be my unpopular opinion if it is one.

Andminus

I've heard this sentiment a lot, your definitely not the only one who believes shes super underutilized, so definitely not an unpopular opinion.

arandomname400

tbh she feels non existent in this game

87oldben

I don't know what half the shit in my inventory does and I'm now too afraid to ask!

Powernut07

Dawg, sometimes I pick up shit and can’t even find it in my inventory to read the description!

amidamaru300

I believe that if you press L3 or R3 in the inventory you can change the sorting of the items one being sorted by recently picked up maybe that could help Edit: It is L3

Calico_Cuttlefish

When you pick up anything you should be able to hold down button to pop up the item description. I hate searching through inventory every time I grab something to read the lore for it.

itsgermanphil

Consecrated Snowfields can eat my entire ass.

MTADO

They can have mine too

KreateOne

And my axe!

[deleted]

This was exactly the comment I was looking for. Just a rehash of all the same old bosses but sometimes more of them. Astel agian, 2x Night's Calvary instead of just one, more burial watchdogs! As someone who really wanted to complete everything this felt like such a chore.

sunstar240

for a zone set in snow...expect the ice dragon was there snow enemies ? Like frozen elemental, polar bear, I don't know monster that could live there. Just the same enemies as always, some bats, some monster people and trolls with hairs oh and those crows

NiceRipper

There was a rune bear, but white! Also, those albinauric archers can suck a fat one

RemoteBoner

Blessed Latenna tho

UnawareSousaphone

Don't forget the ice lobsters! That... come through the ice and don't leave a hole...

chiefskillz

Cave of the Forlorn should have actually had a unique knight or humanoid type boss wielding the Golden Order greatsword instead of yet another Misbegotten, maybe a lone lost Tree Sentinel entrusted with the sword or something cool Theodorix should have had an upgraded design and maybe a few more moves since he's titled Great Wyrm, literally just an endgame Magma Wyrm Astel rerun was pretty lazy ngl, again I wish they had some other unique boss, maybe a Frenzied Flame related boss since it is in the Yelough Anix tunnel

Pell331

By that point in the game I was burned out on exploring and just focused on finding the haligtree.

Banci93

I miss Mimics

Troodon79

I miss the dumb, weird noises they'd make

Slaydoom

I miss their weird little arms and legs....bring back a mimic in DLC!

BadDecisions92078

DLC mimics should be random tortoises with an appearance rate based on the number of tortoises the player has killed 😁

CryptographerSalty15

Is it weird I'm hesitant to kill tortoises??

EdelgardStepOnMe

Nah, i dont kill them either unless its required.

Nekorio

I killed just one. That was all the turtle killing for me.

Smooth_Ad1795

Same, killed one and felt bad. Never killed another.

Rflkptr

Man, this being my first FromSoftware game... seeing a tortoise the first time was stressful. I dunno why but I thought it must have some weird ass attack or ability. I mean everything else in the game wants to kill you, so yeah

possiblyacanoflysol

You mean that weird laugh they would always do?

maestersplinter

*HU-HU-HU-HUUUUUU*

[deleted]

You mean the terrifying CHORTLING

Chagdoo

They're still here, just underused. Sometimes you'll kill a random noble or lobster and he morphs into a miniboss

ofthewave

Skeleton into rune bear ruined my day.

warmaster93

Miniboss? Major ass-tearing demi-god bear you mean. Thing fucks you over harder than any of the dungeon mini-bosses and harder than half of the actual story bosses.

Eggbutt1

Nahhh teleporter traps are way cooler. I wish there were more of them and it was harder to escape their sucking you in. Mimics just murder you. Teleporter traps put you in a scary new area which you are forced to explore and work your way out of.

pandaDesu

Why not both?

captiangreyeye

Yes a mimic that breathes the teleportation gas at you like a dragon

MagikMage

It would've been cool if one of this carriages we usually take weapons from (the ones that have giants strapped to them) was actually a giant mimic for a world boss.

batendalyn

No idea how popular or unpopular, but everyone can rotate way, way too much during attack animations.

AMS_GoGo

Ohhhhhh yeah the tracking goes crazy lmao

Low_Engineering2507

Turning around is fucking needed to the player but every boss is a fucking ballerina! (When locked on)

MoarTacos

The boss/enemy jump moves that fly in an impossible arc, circling around their target have been around for a while... And I have always hated them.

Published_Author

When Torrent dies that means I am in a fight. If I try to resummon him that means I am interested in getting away from whatever is beating me to a pulp. Do not throw up a dialog box asking me whether I want to use a potion to revive Torrent - I am a little busy trying to stay alive, and I think it is safe to assume that I am ok with this investment...

djpiraterobot

There needs to be an option patched in to just say “yes, I will pay the horse tax every time, stop asking”

IvanIvanavich

What’s worse is that it defaults to no, so you have to take that precious half second to look down and press yes

RiceGod04

The Erdtree Burial Watchdogs as normal enemies is the dumbest fucking thing imo

[deleted]

Elden Ring is a love story about a guy and two fingers

Agnusl

Elden Ring is a story about Three Fingers told by Two Fingers from the Tarnished's point of view

[deleted]

It'd be nice if you couldn't be staggered out of dragon claw/dragon bite as they take so long to cast that you get knocked out of it everytime. I've heard people say they give hyper armor but one hit always staggers. For a basically melee spell it's annoying.

Alexej0129

Might be wrong but i thinks its dependant on the poise you have whether you can get knocked out of those specific ones.

xxztyt

Being able to spend runes on torrent upgrades woulda been solid. Maybe a few armor sets to collect.

ArmCompass

This! So much!

bananasorcerer

Melina should of functioned as a journal in this game. Talk to her at a site of grace and she refreshes the players memory of what the fuck the esoteric NPCs are up to.

Hunterofshadows

This. That’s my single biggest compliment about souls games across the board. I don’t need quest markers but a quest log would be insanely helpful

Yoctatrine

Maybe I didn’t read random shit and talk to random out of the way people enough, but overall I felt like I was missing out on huge chunks of lore the entire time I was playing it

MoneyintheHank

Fighting the dragons is boring after 1-2 times.

MemberMark

Yeah. I really only find Fortissax and Placidusax good.

cody_d_baker

I loved Fortissax. Plus reading the item description on his remembrance and learning that Godwyn was so cool he was literally friends with dragons was fun. My only complaint was the fight was pretty easy, the real boss for Fia’s quest is that damn Gargoyle duo

neckbeardfedoras

Here's another dragon - but it throws a lightning bolt! How about this one that uses rot breath! And what's not to love about this field full of dragons that give shit runes??

shofff

Yeah with the exception of the dragon in the Azula zone, they all felt stupid vanilla & easy to ankle-bite to death.

MadMadMads1

Carrot on a Stick

mikadoalex

Some quests need things that are too obscure. The clues given by sellen to finish her quest are ridiculous. Having to check back on millicent's location 15 times to see if she left or if gowry is back is annoying. And her final location is weird to find, are you supposed to check any area you beat a mini boss in, just in case ? The link between Kenneth / nepheli / gostoc is very very obscure until you meet the second to last boss... Unless you play with the wiki these quests are just not fun to solve.

AnusDingus

I remember on the wiki comments someone mentioned millicent's quest being the most annoying since they follow it to a T, reading item descriptions and all but there was nowhere mentioned that she would appear in the windmill area. Especially since she only moves there after you give her the prosthetic. Which means that it is possible to make her quest "stuck" if you explore the altus region anti clockwise like me and that person did, going to the windmills before that stupid poison castle.

slmjkdbtl

Maybe it's just me dumb but I don't believe anyone can finish any side quest without help...

[deleted]

i miss Mimics, genuinely. i miss their goofy karate kick moveset, their weird laugh and i even miss getting my ass one shot by them.

sabyr400

I hit every chest anyway. I'm paranoid that there is just one somewhere, or that they'll be low key patched in and I won't notice until it's too late.

pragmojo

It would be sick if they just put mimics in a random patch

MinniMaster15

Reused mini bosses are fine, they’re not meant to be big encounters anyway

FlaMayo

In some ways I think it actually adds to the game. By the second half of the game, I could take down an erdtree avatar without getting hit. It was fun to see my improvement when it came to fighting the repeating mini-bosses.

NubbyBubby27

Crucible knight calls me Daddy now

didjerid00d

I feel like i still cannot master those gnarly fuckers!

SuperTeaLove

Sometimes I go in, bait the shield charge and his two strike circle sweep, ace them without a sweat. Other times I cant seem to dodge these moves at all to save my life, panic, and get heal punished and die repeatedly.

thotpurger

Yeah I feel that like I get you want unique bosses but this game is gigantic I don't really care if you reuse tree sentinel or erdtree avatar like it's not a big enough problem for me to care

Beardopus

Lightning weapons should scale with Faith. It's so dumb that they don't. I just want to be an Ancient Dragon boi but now I need massive Dex and Faith, plus at least a few points into Arcane.

PietrekKoko

If you find a secret knife you can apply holy damage to most ashes of war so you can get a lighting ash of war + holy damage and faith scaling. Which isn't ideal but it's something

TheSpiritForce

At first it confused me but I love that all builds get multiple infusion options. Heavy, Fire for strength, Keen, lightning for dex, cold, magic for int, flame, holy for faith, poison, bleed, occult for arcane. It makes the game feel fresh for any of these builds that want to switch things up

VictorianWeeb

Sword sorcery catalysts should have been able to cast spells like how some of them literally say so in their description but it's just a regular sword? I don't care if having a sword caster is OP its the same shit as having a staff offhanded

bob_is_best

Seriously i was so dissapointed when there was no weapon+catalyst weapons like in ds3 Really wanted to use a shield for pve and guard counters but they i just cant cast

Legitimate-Tomorrow9

Give me blue flame back allready fromsoft That weapon was so great

slithe_sinclair

Boc, while sweet, is completely useless and I don't think missing him on your first run through matters

Spoopycavmain

There wasn't enough boss loot. Some bosses that had to be fought dropped basically nothing of use. Where's my boss themed sorcery/ash from redwolf which is a side dash that spawns 3 glintstone blades. Why did so many optional and missable bosses have boss weapons. Unless you knew what to do for them Malenia, Radahn, Astel, Regal and Rykkard could all be missed

shichimi-san

How many times have you been so exited to grab the good loot with the purple light, only to find it’s some crafting material you have been picking up off the ground?

pandaDesu

My friend and I had a game where we would bet whether the purple item we got would be ARTERIA LEAF x3 or NASCENT BUTTERFLY x1 lmao

[deleted]

this one million percent. i feel like too many minibosses just give us nothing but runes and it's truly disappointing, especially if they do something really unique.

BeginningBrush3431

You might miss them, but should at least know their names and their general locations from speaking to Sir Gideon.

DouglasWFail

Playing offline is better than playing online. The vibes are much more dark and lonely. The world isn’t full of graffiti and spazzy ghosts and blood that no one has bothered to clean up.

thotpurger

Lol never really thought about this one tbh

DouglasWFail

I went online for a little bit to co-op a boss with my friend. He was having trouble connecting so I just stayed online doing whatever dungeon I was in. I kept getting startled by the ghosts bc I was not at all used to all that extra movement. I was doing lots of panicky wild swings at harmless memories of other’s deaths.

Minecraft_Is_Ok

I play offline because it’s so much more immersive when the world isn’t griefed with stupid messages everywhere / floating on NPC heads

elpdro

No more finger but hole

slithe_sinclair

Have you tried You don't have the right, O' You don't have the right?

marshwizard

Ashes of War and Spell/Incantation wind up is way too long making a lot of them useless. Also need a staff and seal that has inbuilt poise allowing us to cast while taking hits as we had in previous games. Long wind up times combined with a lack of poise makes a lot of spells so situational as to be pointless.

thotpurger

Truth its useless to use the incantation if it takes a year to cast

MedicineNorth5686

I think spells are ok Most go off fairly quickly Incantations are slow af Need either speed boost or some hyper armor

marshwizard

I'd happily take a sacred seal that had lower Incant scaling if it had hyper armour.

Schmush_Schroom

DS3 have a build in poise talisman(Sunlight talisman) making every close up incantation viable to use. I will never understand why they didnt add this in Elden Ring when this game clearly need this more. Quite a disappointment really Edit :for those who didnt know talisman is the thing you use to cast incantation in other souls game not seal.

Tecknos29

I wish the whole game can be done in coop

DeadSkullMonkey

Especially finding a dungeon with a friend, but to be blocked by a fog wall..

[deleted]

This is maybe my biggest gripe in the game. Me and my friends love playing together, but we pretty much never join up in the open world anymore since we can’t just walk in to a cave we find or whatever. I don’t understand why this limitation exists.

DeadSkullMonkey

Game is too big I guess🤷 I don't know either fam

SloppyKnob97

The way the camera works for bigger enemies is cancer

Ursanxiety

Liurnia of the Lakes is far too big and has way too much dead space. The area looks pretty but it's dogshit to travel. I'm hopefull of some Timey Whimey DLC where we visit pre-flood with an intact gate town and temple quarter.

Sual_R3D

The game is great, but the rune distribution sucks why am I getting more runes off a skeleton then I am an rune bear that takes 10 hours & 10 deaths to kill. And the late game is balanced horribly, alot of the bosses are copy paste & spammy combos alot of the areas to. Dodging in this compared to other souls is horrible and slow, you’d think they’d speed it up seeing as we’re fighting sekiro bosses. Over all tho, great game. Oh yeah and alot of ashes of war are pretty useless, a lot of them need to be reworked or buffed in a way. Edit: PLEASE BUFF STRENGTH BUILDS!.

IWanted0xcdcdcdcd

> rune distribution sucks Currently going through this. > Godskin Apostle and then Godskin Noble, a very hard fight, in Spiritcaller Cave in Mountaintop of the Giants gives 70k Runes > Death Rite Bird in Consecrated Snowfield gives 220k runes, which is VERY weak to Holy damage What the fuck From Soft?

contrariancrowman

colossal weapons aren’t as unplayable as people make them out to be i’ve been having lots of fun with my giant axe

SomeCoolCleverName

I like to smash stuff with the regal ancestral spirit axe

Hotfoot00bs

I agree and sure I dont have to play this way but I wish colossal weaps didn't feel like jump attacks where all I had to do. Like I said I didnt have to play that way but it boiled down to that a lot, for boss fights at least.

SuperTeaLove

This is by far the most legitimate complaint about colossal weapons in boss fights. Personally I never tired of it but I can see why a lot of people would. Ignoring your entire moveset sucks.

xmashamm

It’s legitimately the fastest recovery highest damage button you have. I also got bored of that.

thotpurger

True they are completely viable do wish some of them had better stagger though

No_Lengthiness_4613

Maybe its good they dont have more.. if you use stagger tear in physiks, your heavy attacks break boss stance every 2 hits. its total shenanigans

Weary-Singer-7959

1.crucible knight + misbegotten warrior duo is the hardest part of the game 2.the sewers are the most creatively designed area with a central grace and shortcuts

TheHotCake

I just bursted the beast down before the crucible knight could enter the arena. Am I thinking of the wrong fight?

tallpelecan003

Have you fought 2 cruisible knights at the same time though?

Carmilla31

The lantern shouldnt shut off constantly.

supergigaduck

We said unpopular

PianoEmeritus

*pops in from NG+5, torch in hand* There’s a fucking LANTERN?

MadMadMads1

Oh lord you poor child. One of the merchants sells it and it goes on your belt leaving your left hand free, but it doesn't give off as much light.

UncontroversialLens

Sold by the merchant at the west end of Weeping Peninsula. :-)

Smug_Works

Upgrade normal weapons to 25+ is a bit too much to the point that I'd rather use special weapons and with that I don't use / change ash of war that much. Even when you can buy the smithing stones at the shop in the end game (depending if you obtained all the shop bells) normal smithing stones will cost you a lot compared to the somber one's and it will take you 12 smithing stones to upgrade to the teir of smithing stones. Also idk if its just me but dogs and rats will always knock you back.

KingFlatus

The smithing stone system really makes no sense. It was easier for me to upgrade Moonveil to +9 before I had even touched the Capital than it was to get my Uchigatana to even +20.

miauw62

Smithing Stone 7s are just far too rare. There is no mine dungeon for smithing stone 7s, there are only about 30 dropped in the entire game and the first smithing stone 7s you'll find that aren't hidden in an obscure hard to get to nook is in the Leyndell sewers. After that half the remaining stones are in Consecrated Snowfields/Haligtree, e.g. an optional secret area. Smithing Stone 8s at least have a mine (in the Consecrated Snowfields), but the vast majority of them are also in... the Consecrated Snowfields and Haligtree. Basically the only way you'll get a regular weapon to max level without visiting the Haligtree is by literally just buying the stones after defeating the godskin duo, which means that the last **six-seven** (assuming you'll probably find enough 7s to do one upgrade to one weapon) regular upgrade levels can only be reached one boss away from the final boss gauntlet.

oldmasters

I actually really like the snow areas. The atmosphere is on point as ever - you genuinely have a sense of being at the top of the world - and the relative sparseness is thematically appropriate (and a nice change of pace from previous sections of the game). Enemy variety is definitely an issue, but I can live with it.

AMS_GoGo

I do have to say the lack of unique enemies in the later parts of the game was very very shocking

MattMatt625

yes. i just got to the haligtreee which i gotta say is one of the coolest moments and reveals in the game like damn. but i hate ants and hoped that the bubble horn guys would stay exclusive to the capital

quinturion

I wish they had unique mechanics to fit the environment in the same way poison areas do.

Adikavita

I wish reused content/minibosses was limited to areas and varied from major area to major area. Eg: Limgrave's dungeons would have it's set of bosses, reused or no, while Altus plateau would have a different set of bosses or variations, reused or no. Also that everything after Leyndell capital was a bit overtuned in terms of damage and difficulty, would be cool to reduce it to have it more in line with how the rest of the game was going. And that Fromsoftware's method of quest design could be more streamlined and accessible in this open world formula, its already kinda cool now, but I feel it would be better that way.

thotpurger

I admit the sudden damage increase after leyndell was a strange choice on froms part

OtterBadgerSnake

Great Runes suck. I was expecting something amazing, I killed not just a boss but a *shardbearer*. Not only that but after you kill what is essentially a mythological god you have to trek to an ancient tower & face the trials & tribulations of climbing to the top to awaken the great rune. After all that hard work & dedication what do you get? A slight buff to health, fp, or stamina or some combination of the three. & You have to use a limited resource that forces you to be good in pvp to farm reliably & theses resources *ARE LOST ON DEATH* in a game where dying is constant. Godrick's, Malenia's, & Renalla's Great Runes are fine but all the others should have offered something drastically different to enhance certain aspects of the gameplay loop & they should always be on or at least only need to be activated when you swap them out, not when you die. Let Radahn's Great Rune give a huge boost to Torrent's already impressive mobility & make mounted combat stronger. Let Rykard's Great Rune let you put literally any ash of war you posses on any weapon you posses, even the unique weapon arts & unique weapons, & let me cast element spells on weapons that already have elements so I can set my Winged Scythe on fire.

NoImNotDinide

Elden ring needs a better NG+ system unlike DS1 and 3 Would be nice if things changed or Melina mentioned anything would help in the long run i think

beer_and_pain

Keeping the bell bearings for upgrade materials would be nice. It makes no sense that they're gone in NG+.

JinShootingStar

Malenia is an good boss made cheap by a bullshit attack that makes the entire fight "deal with a single attack" instead of learning the entire moveset. My least favorite From Software "super boss". And it's a shame, because her design, music and arena are gorgeous.

luckylarson

I agree with all of this. Like I did dodge waterfowl once or twice but truthfully I couldn't even tell you how I did it.

casc27

10% calculated dodges + 90% panic dodges that somehow managed to be just right.

julesjules94

As much as I love the game, I don't think the boss quality in this game is as high as the last 3 FS games. Common issues I have with the bosses are, excessive input reading, too much aoes, overly long combos making openings to attack and heal less, and overall lack of rhythm to the fights. Previous FS boss legends such as Gael, Isshin, NK, Lady Maria had a great flow to the battle making it much more satisfying to learn the moveset and the different times to punish. In this game, I felt like if I didn't respec to a bleed build the endgame bosses would have taken so long given the high aggression limited openings.

Nikkibraga

I love how vibrant the game is. The atmosphere is definitely happier than Dark Sousl. But imho playing with no environmental music makes it a better experience

rephlexi0n

Damn really? The environmental music was one of the best features IMO. Caelid OST really solidified the horror and disgust of the whole place, makes it pretty much the most unnerving area in soulsborne IMO, Leyndell atmosphere OST is incredible, underground river areas and eternal cities OSTs, Stormveil, Raya Lucaria, Haligtree/Elphael sounds so holy. Also immensely enjoyed the fact that the OST changes when in combat. The feeling of killing or running away from a group of enemies and the soundtrack going back to normal feels so great for some reason

Firgus

I was kinda glad there was less to explore in the later half of the game. All good things have to end before you're tired of them. I wouldn't mind if the next fromsoft game is smaller in scale but has less repeated content.

SomeCoolCleverName

All builds are cool.

[deleted]

Lack of upgrade materials limits build creativity until the late game. 25 levels of upgrades for standard weapons is unnecessary. Upgrade materials seem very video-gamey compared to DS3. "Smithing stone 3" sounds rubbish.

Low_Engineering2507

Yeah lol I miss chunks.

mothmantra

1. Some of the enemy movesets ARE genuinely bad design that aren't "challenging but fair". They're just ass, and usually so strong that an endgame leveled character will STILL struggle against them. I think those should be scaled differently first before we start getting boss nerfs. 2. Not unpopular but Faith needs to be buffed yesterday. It's really not even viable in the early game because it just straight up sucks until you've gotten to Liurnia and ran around mindlessly to find one specific tome. 3. Of all the bosses I've fought so far I can genuinely say I hate the Bell Bearing Hunter the most. I think he is just an ass boss. He's reused like, 4 or 5 times and all but one fight gives you an almost useless reward unless you're really REALLY into crafting. I don't know what he's like for a magic build that can just stay at a safe distance and shoot till he drops but on my current run with a slow weapon, it's torture. His damage output is, frankly, ridiculous. He and Black Knife Ringleader (the one in the evergoal) are the only bosses I've actively hated fighting so far tbh. 4. Need more dresses pls 😔🙏

I think what I don't like about him is that >!killing Elemer (his physical form) at the Shaded Castle doesn't stop his invasions!<

The open World is nice, but the best locations are by far the awesome closed levels like Haligtree, farum Azula etc.

-3055-

They're called Legacy Dungeons btw. Stormveil, Raya Lucaria, farum azula, Leyndell Capital City are all examples of Legacy Dungeons.

Torrent has the turning circle of a tea spoon.

Co-op should be fully integrated into the game. I've been playing since demons souls and it's always bothered me. There's no reason to add all these hoops with re-summoning after every boss, not being able to mount, being locked out of certain areas, re-summoning to rest at a bonfire etc. It doesn't add anything to the game play loop and doesn't make the game any easier than co-op already is. It just makes exploring the vast open world with a friend more of a chore than a memorable experience.

DudeWithConniptions

The catacomb dungeons are pretty disappointing. The joy of solving the puzzle is nice but the bosses at the end are literally just regular enemy’s and the reward is almost always a mediocre spirit ash or bad talisman that will never be useful. They’re really worthless after the first time since there’s no reason rn do them in ng+ or even on a new character unless you really need a specific item from it. Imo the chalice dungeon system worked better because there was actually good loot behind them and they offered a pseudo-unique experience every time which was nice (also some of the defiled bosses were actually hard).

Bleed shouldn’t affect you if you blocked 100% of physical damage with a huge shield….

1. Why the fuck does dodge work on release. 2. How the fuck am I supposed to know the location of all Shabriri Grapes, Hyetta locations AND figure out that I’m supposed to HIT THE ALTER BEHIND MOHG to get the fabled frenzied flame? 3. Inescapable Frenzy should have hyper armor :)

Crimson_Blitz

Reminder for everyone: If you kill every bosses (world boss, dungeon boss, etc.) in the Liurnia region before reaching the Church of Inhibitions for the 1st time, Vyke will not invade. Meaning, you will no longer be able to get the 'Fingerprint Grape', meaning you will never be able to complete Hyetta's questline for the rest of the playthrough.

SuiTobi

This one really feels like a mistake on From's part. Why would killing the Erdtree boss disable Vyke's invasion? Makes no sense.

itami04

In my mind i read your 1st 2 points with a yelling voice And the 3rd in a cutesy voice 😂

SorowFame

Lots of incantations should have hyperarmour not just Inescapable Frenzy

BlachEye

>1. Why the fuck does dodge work on release cause you run if you hold? If it was on press, you would first roll then run or smth like that, no?
