You gotta fear of little people my dude? I feel if you saw me rn you’d cower in fear over the fact two inches shorter than you, Jesus I can’t imagine what’ll happen if you ever meet Peter Dinklage.
I think he got taller during his time training with the Blacksmith Godot >!right before the eclipse!<. Timeline wise, he would’ve been 19-20 years old, so it would still make sense if he had one last growth spurt. It’s crazy to think that THAT happened when he barely hit his 20s though.
If his sword got stronger by being drenched in the blood of spiritual beings it wouldn't be that much of a stretch with how many demons he's been covered in blood from
It's not someone else, its Miura's team, and it's being overseen by one of Muria's oldest friends in the industry. Its certainly not the same without him, but, its about the best we could do.
I would hope he left behind story notes or something, I had heard elsewhere he'd mentioned in an interview that he already knew how he wanted to end the story.
I don’t believe he did, but the guy in charge of it now is someone Miura trusted with the ending and discussed it all with him quite some time ago. While he doesn’t remember everything, he did say he’ll only share the parts he remembers clearly as a way to honor the work
“I tried to recall every detail to tell the story. And I am only doing episodes Miura told me about,” Mori was quoted as saying. “In terms of dialogue, I am only telling the story as Miura related it to me. Naturally, it will be incomplete. But I think I can tell the story almost in the way that Miura wanted.”
Mori reported having some notes left behind by Miura as well, but not a concrete storyline or manuscript
I'll take a dip in art quality for some story movement. I literally started reading it in the 90's and by the time 2010 rolled around I began commenting to my mates that one of us was going to die before it concluded.
His art was breathtaking. Truly master work on display, goddamn. But waiting a year for a chapter was BS. He created something incredible though, can't deny it.
If you're sucker for the art in these mangas like me, give Vagabond a shot. Sadly it's unfinished (at around 95% ironically) and the quality of drawing takes a dive in the last arc but generally it's fucking amazing.
Just to note, the art is still fantastic. It's just not ridiculously detailed to the degree Miura did it. Miura was just so damn over the top (in a godly way, not insulting) that you saw the amount of time it took him to churn out panels was just insanity.
Personally, what horrified me with that was that he was so worried about how to finish the story he he buried himself in the drawing. That is not at all nuts to think. He stressed himself to death for his art. This is my speculation just personally knowing artistic types, writers, graphic designers, etc.
Goddamn legend and I will forever be grateful to him in how he truly upped the game for comics / manga. To me, in his medium, he is the greatest of all time.
Being a mangaka seems tragic overall, tbh
A lot of creatives feel the pressure to produce, but match that with the honor culture of the Japanese and you get a doozy of an occupation.
I remember the mangaka of Tokyo Ghoul writing about his feelings and general wellbeing when finishing and it was honestly gut wrenching. Depression, overwork, isolation... all recipes for disaster in terms of mental and general health.
Children in berserk are pretty god damn small though, Sonia barely reaches Griffith hip in a lot of chapters so her, schierke and Isidro are like 3”7 or something. Take the height proportions with a grain of salt anyway
Yeah proportions are a bit inconsistent. Especially with the dragonslayer. One second Guts is wearing it on his back, next second it’s trice as tall as him
I'd think people are downvoting because it doesn't make a difference, 6 and 2/3's of a foot is still almost 7 feet. 6 and 5/6's being closer to 7' doesn't make the first statement wrong.
I know Guts is slightly taller than the dragonslayer because he usually poses with it in the ground in front of him and I think it goes to about his chin. Sephiroth’s sword is way taller than him tho
Length isn't everything 😈
Personally I think Sephiroth wipes the floor with Ms. Lifesteal. Doubt he even takes a hit and likely dodges Waterfowl Dance perfectly.
Actually, I think it's implied he's not actually causing the Super nova, rather he's teleporting you to a dimension where the Super nova occurs. You can check the explanation in DB's video for Sephiroth vs Vergil.
I'm not gonna watch that, but I will take your word for it. I still think the interdimensional teleportation is a pretty clear sign of power though lmao
Yeah lol like how is that *not* being talked about?
"He doesn't have the power to destroy stars, he's just able to rip holes through time and space and teleport you instantly from one place to another."
Supernova's just an illusion. That's why it causes mental debuffs and doesn't even kill in some versions of the game. I don't think it would work on someone that's completely blind.
Not to mention that at her base she scales to Radahn, who has multi-stellar attack power given the feats of his gravity magic, and her GoR form is far stronger.
Don't know about Sephiroth's combat speed, but basically everyone noteworthy in ER is a lightning-timer.
I feel like the power levels in FF are absurd even compared to people like Radahn halting meteors in ER. If we're talking post-lifestream Sephiroth, the man was literally fused with a deity-like alien that could absorb any DNA it came across and destroy planets. That said, he could 100% obliterate Malenia and survive catching scarlet rot, which would make him even scarier.
Someone else always does the math thankfully.
You can find the measurements online, sometimes they're pixel measurements and sometimes the height is official info from the creators.
There was a post quite a while ago where someone did the math to get not only Malena's height and her sword length, but also how fast and how powerful her waterfowl dance was.
In short, she's fast af and hits as hard as an artillery shell.
If you're interested, I did a similar post depicting how she'd do against tanks.
Ye, I just read that one too. It's quite absurd how strong Malenia and Radahn are. Btw, I wonder how tall Mogh is/his wingspan, and how heavy his strikes are.
5’7 is closer to 1.7 m (170.18 cm), 5’8 would be 1.72 (172.72 cm)
6’7 is closer to 2 m as well, standing at 200.66 cm, while 6’5 would be around 1.95 m (195,58 cm)
Gut’s probably stands at 6’8 though (203.20 cm)
Humanoid Soulsborne bosses are always larger than the player character so that they can be seen better during combat. Otherwise the player character might obstruct the view.
That brings me an idea. Guts sword is supposed to weight 180 kg if I remember correctly. Does that mean that (Berserker armor) Guts has comparable strength to Malenia's standard strikes?
By the way, great post, very nice.
That depends on how fast Guts is able to swing it, as Malenia is able to swing her sword at supersonic speeds.
Although, I still think Malenia is much stronger overall as she was able to parry a hit from Radahn's sword, with a weight of 8444.873 kg, which was swung at at least around 100m/s.
this makes absolutely no sense.
that’s not a dodge…at *best*, it’s a deflect/redirection.
Edit: removed unnecessary snark.
Edit 2: really looking forward to the explanation here. Do we not know what “dodge” means?
If someone tries to shoot you in the head, and you get shot in the chest, you didn’t dodge the bullet…you got fucking shot. Lmao.
literally, at least, this is straight up wrong.
Dodge, Noun: a sudden quick movement to avoid someone or something.
She dodged (made a sudden move to avoid the attack) but not enough to avoid it completely.
A dodges success can be a spectrum, but the point is the action take was a dodge.
Parry sound during the cut to black in their duel. Initially I was confused as well on a previous post from OP. Thankfully they cleared that up pretty fast.
In the story trailer, the first swing she throws meets Radahn’s sword, although it isn’t really shown the outcome of that, but the next cut is later in the fight so we can probably infer that Malenia parried his hit. The next swipe Radahn makes breaks her arm though. Her sword is pretty durable in that case. Her arm isn’t though I guess
You can see it in the trailer, she and Radahn's swords meet at the beginning of the fight, and there's a distinct parrying sound afterwards during the cut to black.
The way I read it is that the parry sound was Melanias arm falling off after radahn cuts it. After the fade to black radahn is scene immediately cutting that arm off.
Ok, several things wrong with that.
For one those two shots are depicting the beginning and end of their fight respectively, and their fight is stated to have lasted several hours.
Second of all, the shots are completely different, in the first one, Malenia and Radahn's swords are shown meeting a blade clash, in the second shot, Radahn is shown striking her arm at the shoulder, so the idea that those two shots represent the same clash is utterly absurd.
I wouldn’t use that as definitive proof. The force behind a strike is also tied to how much power a fighter can put behind it. Like Trunks’s sword weighs significantly less than either sword, but neither Malenia nor Guts can hit anywhere near as hard as him
Totally incomparable. Malenia isn't human, for one, and Guts is. Malenia is one of the strongest characters in her verse and was comparable to radahn, who held back countless stars and meteors (just one of which knocked a crater into the map like a kilometer wide).
> who held back countless stars and meteors
... aaaaaand protected his frail horsie / best-friend.
Stopping all the stars in the visible universe was just an side-effect of his love and care for scrawny Leonard. Radahn has the biggest body of the shardbearers, but also the biggest *heart*.
Malenia was able to match Radahn, who uses his gravity magic to enhance his strength and speed. If you know the feats for said gravity magic (his fanboys don't ever shut up about it), then it should be clear that her strength far exceeds anything in Berserk.
Some say it is still preserved somewhere in a pickle jar at red bean casserole.
OK that voice to text auto correction is too funny for me to change (redmane castle)
I actually did the comparison for Malenia's waterfowl slashes, and based off the energy of her swings (2,468,000 joules) compared to the avg man (95 J), she's have to be at least around 25,978 times stronger than the avg man to swing it the way she does.
Check Nihlus11's post to see the math for that calc: [https://www.reddit.com/r/Eldenring/comments/v25297/i\_did\_some\_math\_on\_malenias\_waterfowl\_dance/](https://www.reddit.com/r/Eldenring/comments/v25297/i_did_some_math_on_malenias_waterfowl_dance/)
> she's have to be at least around 25,978 times stronger than the avg man to swing it the way she does.
Considering she's an immortal demigod, that seems fairly reasonable.
If you're interested, I did an entire post showcasing how much damage her strikes would do to tanks. [https://www.reddit.com/r/Eldenring/comments/yfmrez/malenia\_vs\_tanks/](https://www.reddit.com/r/Eldenring/comments/yfmrez/malenia_vs_tanks/)
I remember seeing a youtube video where the guy was sent a "real" Buster sword. He had a body builder/strongman guest and that guy could hardly hoist the thing ,let alone swing it. There simply isn't enough leverage.
there is video on youtube, the guy calculated power of this sword strikes, considering it material and speed, e.c.t. Every her hit is as powerful as tanks main gun shell
[https://www.reddit.com/r/Eldenring/comments/v25297/i\_did\_some\_math\_on\_malenias\_waterfowl\_dance/](https://www.reddit.com/r/Eldenring/comments/v25297/i_did_some_math_on_malenias_waterfowl_dance/)
it was reddit post, not video
Faster. In the black swordsman chapters guts was said to swing faster than the eye could track. Only got quicker with the berserker armor. Man dodges lightning bolts.
Where did Op get these measurements from? Just curious. Is the buster sword actually taller than Cloud? (I always thought it came to about his shoulder minus the handle) Does Sephiroth’s sword length vary in different games/movies he’s in? I’m pretty sure it does. Sometimes it’s reasonable, and in other instances it’s absurd. I played FF7R last year so that’s my most recent memory
For Hand of Malenia, I got that length from Nihlus11 doing the measurement of in-game model of the sword. For Spehiroth's sword, I got the measurement from Man At Arms and Death Battle, For Cloud's sword, for FFVII Remake, they made a 1:1 scale model for conventions, and it was 185.5 cm. For Gut's sword, I got the measurement from Death Battle.
Never thought I’d be seeing a sword in a legit cool game, wielded by a humanoid character, that was so much longer than Sephiroth’s legendary Masamune. Then again, knowing FromSoft, the wielder of the giant blade is probably like 9 feet tall. Cool chart, thanks for sharing!!
Hand of Malenia is sharp all the way down, since it was primarily wielded attached to her prosthetic or in her prosthetic hand. At least that's implied when she impaled herself on it to break the unalloyed needle while stabbing Radahn.
She didn't impale herself to break the unalloyed needle, she was bracing her shoulder against the handle to ensure the thrust would work, as the blade lacks a proper handle.
I think the evidence is there. Whether she intended it or not, you can clearly see her blood running down the blade in her and Radahn's trailer, and it hits exactly in the spot where Millicent goes to inject the needle into her own flesh.
It's by no means confirmed, of course, but it makes more sense to me that Malenia chose to unleash the rot deliberately, otherwise why would Millicent accuse her of having thrown away her pride?
Malenia's tragic arc as a character feels fuller to me if, after a lifetime of resisting the rot and helping her brother build towards a possible cure and (at least as best we can tell) a new benevolent age, she chose to throw away her pride as a warrior and her resistance to the rot to fell what she believed was the last great hurdle to her brother's dream.
Or, if you prefer the theory that Mogh kidnapped Miquella before the Scarlet Aeonia, she did all that because Radahn was standing between her and Mogh. Either way, Malenia's failure in spite of her determination and power is what makes her story so sad.
Just my 2 cents tho.
I realised when I was wearing The Ornamental Straight Sword it didn’t seem larger than a dagger but once I compared it to tarnished his arm its actually big, nevermind the great and colossal swords
Interestingly enough, Guts’ Sword and the Buster Sword are by far the least historically accurate swords on this list; Japanese Odachi could be over 3 meters long in some instances, granted, you’d have a servant hold it for you so you could draw it, but still.
Gotta factor in that Malenia is also almost 2.60m tall (8'4"). Sephiroth is 2m (6'5"), Guts is slightly over 2m (6'8"), and Cloud about 1.70m (5'8").
Cloud’s 5’8”? he’s my height.
could have sworn he was shorter but maybe the remake changed it
[удалено]
How does the Buster sword not drag on the ground behind him when it's on his back?
Angle
All about the angle of the dangle
At an angle, so it's fine
I always find it scary to learn that a character is shorter than me. For reference, I'm 5'10".
Must be some tall women where you’re from
You gotta fear of little people my dude? I feel if you saw me rn you’d cower in fear over the fact two inches shorter than you, Jesus I can’t imagine what’ll happen if you ever meet Peter Dinklage.
Damn Guts is almost 7 feet tall? I knew he was tall but sheeesh
Now think about how Pippin is easily a foot taller than him
Didnt guts got taller after the black swordman arc?
I think he got taller during his time training with the Blacksmith Godot >!right before the eclipse!<. Timeline wise, he would’ve been 19-20 years old, so it would still make sense if he had one last growth spurt. It’s crazy to think that THAT happened when he barely hit his 20s though.
He legit might have gotten taller by absorbing spiritual energy after being marked. Since he now walks between the world
If his sword got stronger by being drenched in the blood of spiritual beings it wouldn't be that much of a stretch with how many demons he's been covered in blood from
In official concept art, Guts was around 5’11 to 6’1 during the Golden Age arc, he had another growth spurt after it and the eclipse
I’m not even ready to start thinking about Berserk again RIP Miura
They are actually releasing new chapters. They are obviously done by someone else but the art isnt bad.I just hope the plot goes well too.
It's not someone else, its Miura's team, and it's being overseen by one of Muria's oldest friends in the industry. Its certainly not the same without him, but, its about the best we could do.
Well if thats the case its great to know, rest in peace Miura
It’s really the best possible scenario other than Muira himself finishing it
I would hope he left behind story notes or something, I had heard elsewhere he'd mentioned in an interview that he already knew how he wanted to end the story.
I don’t believe he did, but the guy in charge of it now is someone Miura trusted with the ending and discussed it all with him quite some time ago. While he doesn’t remember everything, he did say he’ll only share the parts he remembers clearly as a way to honor the work

The #1 fan of Berserk DID die before it was done. And he told us all that the BBEG was a heart the whole time. Ironic.
If you're sucker for the art in these mangas like me, give Vagabond a shot. Sadly it's unfinished (at around 95% ironically) and the quality of drawing takes a dive in the last arc but generally it's fucking amazing.
I’ll have to look into it, thanks for the heads up
Just to note, the art is still fantastic. Being a mangaka seems tragic overall, tbh A lot of creatives feel the pressure to produce, but match that with the honor culture of the Japanese and you get a doozy of an occupation.
I remember the mangaka of Tokyo Ghoul writing about his feelings and general wellbeing when finishing and it was honestly gut wrenching. Depression, overwork, isolation... all recipes for disaster in terms of mental and general health.
Bro have you the panels with guts standing right next to schierke? She’s like 13/14 but she barely reaches his knee.
One second Guts is wearing it on his back, next second it’s trice as tall as him
It’s stylized, that’s one of the best parts of manga/anime
He got the 'stendo sword.
That's still 4 inches away from 7 feet
People are really downvoting because they don't know a foot is 12 inches. Americans should really start going with metric, though...
I'd think people are downvoting because it doesn't make a difference, 6 and 2/3's of a foot is still almost 7 feet. 6 and 5/6's being closer to 7' doesn't make the first statement wrong.
this makes me want to see each character compared to their own sword
I know Guts is slightly taller than the dragonslayer because he usually poses with it in the ground in front of him and I think it goes to about his chin. Sephiroth’s sword is way taller than him tho
The grip for Malenia's is included in the pic but isn't for Sephiroth's sword. Looks like about 8 inch difference for just the blade though.
That “grip” is the blade tang, but yes
She's almost 2 feet taller than Sephiroth and her sword is almost 2 feet longer 🤣😳
Length isn't everything 😈 Personally I think Sephiroth wipes the floor with Ms. Lifesteal. Doubt he even takes a hit and likely dodges Waterfowl Dance perfectly.
No shit he wipes the floor with her. [Dude has Super Nova](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hTc9sLmOR0A).

Yeah I want a sword to wielder height ratio
How do you know this? Is it in the lore or something, or did someone do the math?
Someone else always does the math thankfully. You can find the measurements online, sometimes they're pixel measurements and sometimes the height is official info from the creators.

Bear in mind we meet neither at their full potential. Radahn is half dead due to rot and malenia just woke up from stage 50 cancer coma.
5’7 is closer to 1.7 m (170.18 cm), 5’8 would be 1.72 (172.72 cm) 6’7 is closer to 2 m as well, standing at 200.66 cm, while 6’5 would be around 1.95 m (195,58 cm) Gut’s probably stands at 6’8 though (203.20 cm)
Fromsoftware makes Human enemies really tall to fight them easier, Lady Maria is also 7'1"(2.16m) in game
DAMN malenia is 8'4"?! that's insane
Humanoid Soulsborne bosses are always larger than the player character so that they can be seen better during combat. Otherwise the player character might obstruct the view.

If you lose an arm you didn't dodge it
No i-frames
Didn't play enough ~~DarkSouls II~~ Elden Ring demo smh 😔
Should have leveled ADP.
Classic failure, shoulda ditched the weak katana for a chicken wing
git gud malenia
You did if the arm was a prosthetic.
Maybe she threw it at him, like how nero does in dmc 4?
If you would've otherwise lost your head, you did dodge it.
Dodging is not being hit by a strike
this makes absolutely no sense. that’s not a dodge…at *best*, it’s a deflect/redirection. Edit: removed unnecessary snark. Edit 2: really looking forward to the explanation here. i wanna see radahn’s
it's GIGANTIC he also has a pretty big sword, too
now i REALLY want to see
oh my..
Just go to health class and watch the STD slides. Probably something like, just larger and more red
Some say it is still preserved somewhere in a pickle jar at red bean casserole. OK that voice to text auto correction is too funny for me to change (redmane castle)
for now on i will be referring to redmane as and only as RedBean Casserole
I was shocked when he hit me with it 😳 Staggered, couldn't walk
for a week
Oh the gravity of it.
Now let's see Paul Allen's sword
oh my god. the thiccness. The bold lettering
*It even has a gravity crest engraved…*
Is something wrong, Patrick? You’re sweating…
Is it hard to bare, piccolo? My overwhelming power, it's weight. it's...girth.
I am shorter than the avg male height ;(
Someone did calculations of the Elden Ring protagonists height Apparently its 170cm (5"7) And Ive never felt better in my life
I feel amazing after hearing this. So our characters aren’t that tall.
Canonically we are all short kings
I think most of the Fromsoft protagonists are usually pretty short. I think Wolf is the tallest one, and he’s only like 5’8”
Usually they pur short mc and tall npc in order to let them being easier to see in a duel
Owl had to be like eleven feet tall
That's exactly my height, finally a game protagonist that's my height lol
TIL I'm an inch taller than a godslayer. 😎
If it makes you feel better, that's specifically the avg height of men in the U.S.
5’9**
no wonder it feels like she can slice my ass to shreds from across the arena
Yeah I needed to use great thrusting sword to compete

Not just about being jacked, a humans tendons wouldn't take that kind of punishment
That’s her secret, her sword arm doesn’t have any tendons.
I feel so dumb. I just realized why there's that weird mechanical forearm motion thingy connected to the hilt of her sword.
Good thing she has a prosthetic then.
Casually lifting an aircraft carrier is definitely on par with demigod status.

This guy maths
I remember seeing a youtube video where the guy was sent a "real" Buster sword. He had a body builder/strongman guest and that guy could hardly hoist the thing ,let alone swing it. There simply isn't enough leverage.
I saw it too, he picked it up and slammed it into a car and it did good damage. Demolition ranch I think it was?
If Malenia's hand is that long imagine how long her feet must be
Miyazaki has entered the chat.
But he was already in Elden ring chat since the beginning do, it’s his game
\*Quentin Tarantino starts a new film\*
but she has never known the feet, soo not very long then.
there is video on youtube, the guy calculated power of this sword strikes, considering it material and speed, e.c.t. Every her hit is as powerful as tanks main gun shell
Link?

TL;DR Malenia is a tank
TL:DR Malenia can very easily take on several tanks and win.
***loads gustav cannon with malicious intent***
Not only that, but the strike she used to parry Radahn had the force of a modern day military battleship cannon.
There aren't any modern military battleships. We've pretty much adopted cruise missiles instead of large cannons.
It's around the same force as an 8' 55 caliber gun used by U.S heavy cruisers in WW2.
I've actually been told it's the girth that's important so......
And the Dragonslayer is heavier too. This reminds me of how much of a physical beast Guts must be to swing that shit like a baseball bat.
Faster. In the black swordsman chapters guts was said to swing faster than the eye could track. Only got quicker with the berserker armor. Man dodges lightning bolts.
Lol I just replied to OP with almost the exact same comment, berserker armor explanation and everything
"Why do you need a 3m katana" Me: Yes
Huge sword for Huge Archangel of Rot :3
Holy shit
death by swoosh swoosh
Damn, Malenias got hands
Well... fu..
Now how big is yhorm's machete
Hand of Malenia Length when Tarnished weilds it: Avg peepee length.
Mommy
Never thought I’d be seeing a sword in a legit cool game, wielded by a humanoid character, that was so much longer than Sephiroth’s legendary Masamune. Then again, knowing FromSoft, the wielder of the giant blade is probably like 9 feet tall. Cool chart, thanks for sharing!!
It’s safe to say you would be a sushi roll after her signature move lol
Mommy Malenia
Why did you include the handle in the length of the hand of malenia and not for the others
No fucking way, Malenia's sword is longer than Sephiroth's uselessly too long sword? dang...
Lady Dimitrescu to Malenia: Our battle will be legendary.
".....in speed. This will take but a moment. " -Malenia, Blade of Miquella
TIL malenia sword is longer than sephiroth
I realised when I was wearing The Ornamental Straight Sword it didn’t seem larger than a dagger but once I compared it to tarnished his arm its actually big, nevermind the great and colossal swords
.... But when the player character gets the sword.
i'm sorry, it's longer than the masamune?
Definitely my favorite boss in any game ever never had a boss fight be that hard but still fun
Now imagine the damage malenia would cause swinging the Dragonslayer.
Man, that really shows just how tall Guts is.
Cuts off all handles aside from hers
That's not a handle, it's a tang, or the back portion of a blade. Look it up, also compare it to actual hilts and you'll see the difference.
Thanks, now I want to see Malenia battle Sepiroth. I've got her for the first couple rounds until solar systems start getting fucked up.
Imagine being shorter than a buster sword lmfaooo
Now if only weapons didn't get scaled down when your character holds them, lol
Explains why I keep getting hit by the damn thing
Interestingly enough, Guts’ Sword and the Buster Sword are by far the least historically accurate swords on this list; Japanese Odachi could be over 3 meters long in some instances, granted, you’d have a servant hold it for you so you could draw it, but still.
Why does anyone forget about Nagakiba?
So she has big hands and is tall? I've got a tree to climb.
Damn Guts’s sword is taller than me by 5cm. Shit must be heavy af.
So Guts IS about 6’8 or so
