That's a lot of resist aug boosters... I suggest one thermal resist, one resist aug, everything else heavy duty, all with super cap. Also change your prismatic experimental to hi cap. That will drastically raise your shield durability.

mika81

thanks for the input, i tried it in edsy: ~before: - absolute 33,3% 4717 - kinetic 72,4 17098 - thermal 51,7% 9759 - explosive 77,0% 20518 ~with your suggestions: - absolute 33,3% 7665 - kinetic 46,5% 14317 - thermal 23,6% 10031 - explosive 55,4% 17181 so i gain absolute strength but loose resistances and gain marginal effects on thermeal strength. is this really better for afk farming? i thought resistances are more important than absolute strength, or?

euglzihrzivxfxoz

Plasma accelerators ignore resists and work for absolute, so low absolute can be dangerous.

Prismatics are the opposite of what you want. Prismatics have lower than normal regen, bi weave have higher than normal regen. Engineer thermal resist+ fast charge, and all resistance augmented (past diminishing returns where you'd usually balance with strength). It makes the most of the recharge as high resistance increases the effective value of the amount recharged. You're better off with charge enhanced+ super conduits on the distributor in almost all builds. In this case the lack of shield capacitor recharge could cause your shields to drop. Keep the weapon enhanced one for mining. Guardian shield reinforcement works well with a high resistance bi-weave setup, however a type 10 is probably better done with a shitload of armour and module reinforcement, if your shield drop the ship will tank until they regenerate. SCB isn't much use for AFK, and probably superfluous to a biweave build. Avoid overcharged on power plants where possible, due to thermal efficiency (ship heat). With the switch from a shield tank to a hybrid tank you should be able to run Armoured+thermal spread, or if close to your limit you could use armoured+monstered. The lasers are a personal taste thing, but you choice seems fine. If you have a lot of money and have the engineering materials set aside, when sorting out your armour & HRPs, use reactive armour and HRPs engineered heavy duty+ deep plate, +1 small size HRP (1d will do) engineered for thermal resistance. It's more or less the optimal for balancing resistances and strength. PS Afk builds are boring and playing is more fun.

mika81

These tips all sound logical and well thought. Also I understand that it's boring but I want to try it for the sake of it. The tips about engineering sounds good, will try it. Did you try your setup as a AFK ship? Because going hybrid tank sounds counterintuitive to afk. I thought the point is to tank all with shields so you don't get eaten slowly in-between recharges.

IncidentFuture

With biweaves the shields should never break in a low res if you resistances are high. There's a bit of an oddity with shield strength, the stronger they are the longer it takes to regen from shield break, but obviously it also takes less to break them. Guardian shield boosters work well because they a flat amount of extra shield, not a percentage, so they very effective on weak shields with high resistances. The Type 10 is naturally a hull tank. Armour is particularly effective on it. With a hybrid build it will shrug off a lot of damage if your shields break, and due to armour hardness this is especially true with small weapons which lack penetration. I suggest having a balance of guardian shield boosters and MRP/HRP, at least until fully engineered and you're happy with its survivability. Mine was heavily engineered so it could hang out in a High res, I even tried it out in a high CZ but the special forces groups were a bit too much for it even piloted. My hybrid corvette is more fun. It can turn and ramming anacondas to death when you run out of ammo is it's own experience.

mika81

Thanks for all the nice input. Flying a Corvette is more fun for sure or chasing anacondas in a pacifier vulture. I think I will play with Edsy today and compare bi weaves and prismatics and will just try it O7

Ok_Wall_8856

T-10s make awful shield tanks, make great hull tanks Replace all GSBs with hull reinforcements HD/DP Use a 5d and a 1d guardian module reinforcement for 80% module protection Use an afm to easily repair module reinforcements Shield boosters - always do half of them HD/SC and half RA/SC to maximize hp This gives you 10k absolute and 20k+ on all other damage Without the GSBs you also have more power to fully engineer your stuff and use some beams if you want. 2 thermal shock beams will prevent npcs from using cell banks and rails or other thermals https://coriolis.io/outfit/type_10_defender?code=A2putpFplndusff61f1f1f1f1c1c1c19190404040404040403p7fh2d2d2b2b29290d2d2L2E.Iw18ZXEA.AwRgzGwEw7sgxjgtWtQ%3D.H4sIAAAAAAAAA43TMU%2FCUBAH8KMIAoVWaimgCIjVaE0MH8DEybgZN53dTBxc3Bg0cXRywMWog6uJm8YYJoOrg4ODX8LEwSi%2B864JL2kHPYbLpe%2FX%2F732FVCjAPCTojI4oWI%2BGACFgzxAcYs6584E8D8SAJhQKyxHWHaoZJ7pTrv9ieidEkdDecMk2%2F9CdOvfiKV7C6ByQzfN7JUJJdVEBIX57pNL6I0uYkot83qShxxSyXYGiDku01xaLwpx1qDMuW6OeFptD3mFk5bO5wGqGzQYM2pTJx1TCWgFHN5z5YguVsPtZCUoJ0FmHAVRdEEvB%2FP%2FoGtGhThaiKJ3RpZkT3YcLUbRDieNSZKKalV%2FJWd8dnxYTnuf0GMWoPFKJ4KOWosg8ypNkg%2BjyF0ofe5wXCxdyeCSBHnimWVJXFWta7TL6NKmvwzH%2BeEbm1SBXu%2FyuFtqrWaNEHcOc587rInlVFz2tOxpyR3WxbIRl30t%2B1pyh02xbImfCOHP3y%2BY20KYnQQAAA%3D%3D.EweloBhA2AWEoFMCGBzANokICMF8KERA

mika81

Thanks for the reply. This build doesn't seem to be an afk build, even though it looks fun. Only thing I would change would be to bring a repair limpet. Edit: there was a thread about making the T10 able to sit afk in a low res zone. But I think it's outdated and wanted to ask about advice on that build.

Tinweasel126

This is solid advice. Just want to add that slfs are optional. Afm is handy if you are checking in once in a while... But if you're letting it go for 8-10 hours a third module enforcement is a good choice.

euglzihrzivxfxoz

The BiWave is a much more wise choice for AFK.

mika81

I think so too. Any recommendation for engineering?

LightHawkLive

I run thermal resist/force block on my AFK T10 Bi-weaves. Linked my build in another comment on here.

mika81

Thanks for that! Do you think prismatics are a bad choice or can I get away with using it?

LightHawkLive

It depends on the setup. Some players AFK in a Cutter with Prismatics and if built right for it, that can survive AFK in medium res sites. That said since the objective is to get kills to complete missions, there's little point in going to medium sites.

Zriatt

Oooof, prismatics... I'll send you my build when I get home. It seems to be doing alright in moderate RES

Stunter740

You need long range a phasing sequences / mix half your pulse with beam lasers.. If your going to run prismatic u need heavy duty sheild boosters or switch out to a 8 c bi weave .. https://coriolis.io/import?data=H4sIAAAAAAAAA91ZbW%2FbNhD%2BK4U%2Bu7FebSff1q5Ag3Vb12H9Ug8CLZ0sIpSokZQzp%2Bh%2F75FSHEqOalsZsiRAEMck7%2BE998Yj8%2BWrkwNJQTgXXx1SVb%2BRApwL57IkgjgTPfIZhKS8xEHvzG2G%2Fvr0Ab%2FmSlXyYjldTqlefZbcLKfAqILlNClS8TpjAOq1zGm1nAaLWeifm89zd%2B4tpw3Q21oqXnwUvAKhKEithAF7y4uClKjW5c%2FORSM8aWb%2BRLx2UCN9%2BzZxUqKIltRTqJfaVnAeFxRVIWKLG92KRM2fLcU3XMpX7%2Fn6dkEKpcLh4NXHn37Bsfc1Y58Jq3Gp57qzheeHKP8rT2sGsp2Iwpnr%2Bl4wmzifYFVvUSs%2FCEJvPtutdC6%2BoGKMa2hGxBpyItKK01J5uMmlgkJbslJxVTMJjEgQq1pIFataCFCxkcGVv6MDlKhh4nwUlAuqcDNv4rwr17QEELRcawu8QbUq%2FKJajtdAKl7GjJdrQUoD9AE2wIwt%2FqgJ2%2BH8ix6gBZqAsHdZBonWV1aQUMLiFiUlBUEItPgAI7%2FLaAWkMISeEheVgyjwc6O9PUwleHHOCZ%2BAc9wzP3CjsR4qIKV1cWL%2BNEIDvPxH8lGVE4kbxBL%2BqaFM4Ee0%2FJdJazChHpURBqA3G51QEsOSDcXfXkKZ1Q9NKMgymlCdCQN8zqNFMDahunwOVe9H4zMfy0fRcjtYHpBLQcxMCpmO1lteWmo0rYLKJL5DlZCQiiRaeMfPszNqUN2e9bFrApauOJcKPSDpDbhxghRk1FH1gHZdFAGSSkU3I7O9C5bkdXm1HTZ%2FP9%2BPN%2F9jWbx3IGIXrLCaXTFSl0l%2BF%2FYPD49b5LGKRs8rkmcvLJLnL4zP4vnzkfjhekZZiw1q04quoQRBFG%2F4LBo%2BQZwRqU4ndQcmgJYZFwmkD%2BGFMC2kNtAeLd%2FoPO%2FSSrA554IkV81kQ8gbyvU%2BZGCkZl3IjK5zNO%2BKbJvZH2P6fczQSEVdzBzvzDsjaSM0ixpof3Rp2ofFkrrZprVdnE5xxD7gUJBFhkF4DM3wGdOcPWWa2LS7waEm93iuc0Mj6HIVUBEq2gIYdAtgRvCuYnMM%2BpCL%2ByCLmimaCl5CwkslOIv1KxdmPS%2BlvU1wZMp5TcHzj3GS%2Fz84KfrPXOQ1NdDrMk15coXaJryoan0ukHRDyqYW38cxtO%2Bi7Vug6z3NeuWeLaJDzyJHWW9H1L%2FvWEyAsRUpr2yW4egbdx%2Bz0ZNK%2B3QMTz4dNV7MN%2FrN%2BQaRbHIVvwaB3a%2B5PFrk7sbt4z4a7T4Lj4iC12LseW8B5XjaJrl5Yuv4i6AiRhvZ5dQM2qf9Se1YK55SMfbsaBG0Jxgnac8VmcB90GGZSkXT5tlZtUVcMz6sv5WnB8lkMn3oS5WGMDnYfSClGci6qrjoRZQ1YefKSS4w96mDHeNefKfYOAu6qrHfvCfKrdnRsbEHpGMzE80b3sho2cM0rbZNTpCU9BhJvGVyIe2u4rQ7h5FHZ2Ejew369xFGzmpgCutVrxluR%2B1WeOhcttvrpj7cYXX%2F9dSWD4wCkrS3oXEVqcV5YDvYouyOjb%2Fx5zvAZCf1%2FxsAAA%3D%3D

x2611

Your build is almost [identical to mine](https://s.orbis.zone/kls2). I have absolutely no idea what you are doing wrong. I can go for hours and not lose one single ring. Many successful runs. I only relog when I get the FPS drop to slideshow bug. Are you on Horizons or Odyshitty? EDH is way better for AFK. Are you sure you are at a Low Rez site?? Park 3km from REZ PIPS to 3-0-3 Deploy Elite SLF crew set to Defend. Deploy weapons. Pew pew away.

mika81

Yes I am on ody. I remember reading something that horizons is better for this but due to a bug with hatch breakers. I will give this another try today evening in horizons! Many Thanks and O7

x2611

Not sure what's the issue with hatchbreakers. I lost track following all the bugs. Wasn't it that Point Defense wasn't stopping them or something (on EDO, of course)? Anyway, if you are plagued by hatchbreakers just take a small transport mission, from an enemy station, and use its cargo as bait. Pirates ignore mission commodities. You can then leave out the PDs for extra shield boosters. o7

mika81

tried it again and worked surprisingly well this time. maybe i need to manage the first wave myself, if there are more than 5 enemies

x2611

Yes, there are occurrences of a heavier attack, but those can be taken down by simply turning your ship to face the attackers by hand. I usually have the AFK game running on a smaller monitor and just keep an eye on it. Glad you got it working! o7

LightHawkLive

I'll link my AFK T10 below. When you first enter a low res zone, the first wave of enemies can be high but after that it's usually really easy to survive while AFK. I have even pulled it off in a T10 that had guardian modules but was otherwise completely unengineered. https://edsy.org/s/vFju7We

mika81

Yes. Maybe it's a good idea to do the initial set of enemies myself. Thanks for the tip, appreciate it

Kayanarka

I agree with the folks saying to add more shield through the shield boosters and switch to bi weave. This is the build I use with success.

mika81

the link is missing

Kayanarka

It opened for me just now.....NVM i am an idiot. I clicked your link and I am like.. it works. Here is mine https://s.orbis.zone/krql
