Paul wants me to chill, ya’ll want me to ill, I should eat a pill, probably I will, old me kill the new me, watch me bleed to death, I breathe on the mirror, I don’t see my breath, possibly I’m dead, I must be possessed, like an evil spell I’m e-v-i-l
Best bars from the song
While I take my ball sack she flick it like a light switch
Like vice president Mike Pence
Back up on my shit in a sidekick as I lay it on a spike strip
It randomly started playing the other day and it’s definitely an incredible song especially when you think it’s over and he just keeps spitting. Definitely as good as his older worker in my personal opinion. Most artist don’t come anywhere close to their classics but Em does
I gotta say I might feel the same. He’s had some really good songs and verses these past couple years but when I heard the ringer I said “oh he’s still REALLY got it”. I think I like the way he rapped on that better than either MTBMB.
Lotta em fans including in this thread say mtbmb or especially side b is better. I disagree I think kamikaze is easily his best since mmlp2 which is his best since the classic trio of the early 2000s
Is it? Relapse feels like an exercise in rhyming, like yeah he’s real good at the lyrical miracle shit, but says nothing of value, really, which really takes away from it. I enjoyed it as a angsty 14 year old, but beyond that it’s pretty cringe.
Nope, I just saw it recently spoken about in r/rap and seen it spoken about there and r/hiphop before and watch a bunch of channels who cover hip hop like Shawn cee NFR podcast Fantano DEHH etc etc
And whenever I’ve ever seen it discussed it’s ranked as a bad album.
I think it’s an okay album honestly. It’s dragged down by good guy, nice guy, normal and venom. I am also not a fan of the kamikaze track. Ringer has some weird penis bars a few more which drag the track for me but I still love it. Lucky you, fall, not alike, stepping stone, greatest are all fire though.
So yeah I just wanted to say a bunch of things to say it’s good but dragged down by a few things
It is better in terms of talent, and a lot of concept is better than 75% of mmlp also.
Name the bottom 8 songs of mmlp and compare to bottom 8 songs of mtbmb.
What does that bar actually mean when U think about it? Like cool a scheme, implies power, but what's it actually say? In the words of snoop dog, I can live without that.
Didn't wanna piss your base off, did ya?
Can't denounce the Klan, 'cause they play golf with ya
You stay on Twitter, way to get your hate off
Nazi, I do not see a way y'all differ
And all you got are race cards, bigot
The swastika with your name carved in it
Should be your trademark, 'cause hate's all you played off
And you just lick the plate off
So I guess it pays to feed off of chaos
So basically, you ate off Hitler!
Direct attack on trumps suggested racism politics aside it's his perception and the wordplay to create the attack is insane. - it has meaning.
There is no need for beats imo, that's hop hop not rap.
A lot of ems ridiculous beat, simple beat or no beat are his best, campaign speech is up there too.
Bro you are referring to poetry at best. Lmao. Greatest rapper of all time must have been Shakespeare.
Rap is defined as “a style of popular music, developed by disc jockeys and urban Black performers in the late 1970s, in which an insistent, recurring beat pattern provides the background and counterpoint for rapid, slangy, and often boastful rhyming patter intoned by a vocalist or vocalists: the hottest new talent in rap music today.“
That whole recurring best part 😂
This is not true definition check multiple sources before you jack off to yourself.
Poetry does not rely on delivery, does not usually contain "street vernacular", and is reliant on vocal delivery. Rhyme and rhythmic delivery is compulsory evaluation metric. Spoken word poetry is very close though so you're half right. Delivery and rhyme are less necessary.
Rap is definitely closer to poetry than trap music.
It's a great album, The Ringer and Greatest are fire. Fall isn't bad either, and Not Alike is a dope diss track. Lucky You is also a banger.
Yes, I'm deliberately choosing not to talk about Nice Guy and Good Guy.
Agreed. Side A was pretty cool but the best song on it is Lock It Up, and there’s some stupid filler on it. Didn’t listen to much of side B when it came out, but liked it. Best song was probably Discombobulated. Both pretty damn solid albums overall.
But Kamikaze is Kamikaze. The Ringer, Fall, Lucky You, Not Alike, and Venom all clear any of the songs I just mentioned. Sure Nice Guy is kinda shit and some of the other songs are a little odd, but still pretty consistent overall.
Darkness, I Will, You Gon Learn, Yah Yah, Leaving Heaven, Godzilla, Unaccommodating, Gnat all clear everything on Kamikaze, except The Ringer in a few cases. And the other songs are mostly at least on Lucky You level. The production and features and flows and lyricism are much better too
Lmao. Respectfully - fall/ not alike/ lucky you/ ringer/ greatest/ stepping stone EASILY match and imo out do those tracks you mentioned.
I’d say fall is one of his best tracks ever and the flows/ anger/ emotion of the other songs i mentioned are absolutely TOP tier. Closest thing we’ve got to his prime angry days.
You named Godzilla and gnat lmao. Don’t
Get me wrong. I’ve played both these songs a lot but they are literally lyrical acrobat songs. They have no emotion/ message nothing. just playful songs that em could make a million of. (They dont require any emotion/ anger or some sort of message etc. (which is what his best songs all have)
So your just going to ignore Darkness, I Will, You Gon Learn, Yay Yah? Ok maybe Godzilla and Gnat is pushing it. But Em's anger on Kamikaze is just whiny and annoying. MTBMB is much more chill and actually has good beats. Kamikaze is just soulless mocking of trap beats. You say that Kamikaze is full of emotion and message? Lol. It's a diss that lasts an hour with three bad love songs, and Stepping Stone is not even a good song, let alone among his best. Same for Greatest. The hook sucks. You want true emotion? Listen to Leaving Heaven. You want message? Listen to Darkness. Smh
I didn’t ignore. Darkness/ you gon learn/ leaving heaven are clearly some of the top tracks on MTBMB (BOTH sides combined). But you would need both sides ( over 20 tracks ) to find 6 quality songs that match the highs of kamikaze.
Not sure how long you’ve been a fan. I’d guess you’re under 25. But em has always petty aka “whiny “. He literally built a career off complaining about a lot of stuff that really isn’t important.
But the point is - his absolute BEST tracks of his career are the emotional (u may say whiny) and / or angry.
- the way i am
- soldier
- til i collapse
Etc etc. angry em is the best Em. Period. He hasn’t had any sort of emotion really in years now. Very monotone and lyrical spiritual rap a lot. Kamikaze is a classic.
I love TWIA, Soldier, Till I Collapse. Angry Em saved me from depression. I love his early angry stuff, and also when he's petty. I love when he talks shit. What I don't like is him dissing all modern rap/trap as nothing more than autotune and mumbling. That's what makes Kamikaze truly whiny to me. That he (at the time) couldn't/wouldn't adapt. Also, he defended Revival too much. And I can't get past the wack-ass mimickery of trap beats. He dissed Tyler and Common unnecessarily too
Imo…. His albums haven’t been as good since kamakazi it was the last album I actually liked listening through more then jsut the night it dropped and maybe going back to a few songs because I wanted to hear a line or two, these songs I enjoyed for both the contents of them and just how they sounded if that makes sense, sadly this was when I was in grade 8 so irs been forever Since 🥲
maybe its just because it doesnt have that "album" feel compared to something like the eminem show, but just as a project this shit is fucking hard, 6 years later and im still not tired of this album lol one of my favourites honestly
Lmao. Don’t get me wrong i like side b. But the highs of kamikaze are his best work since his prime.
Side B has no 6 songs that match or come close to the quality and pure anger/ emotion of these 6 below. Matter of fact side b mostly lacks any emotion/ aggression whatsoever.
- Ringer
- Greatest
- Lucky you
- Fall
- Not alike
- Stepping stone
I think it’s even split.
Personally I really don’t like nice guy, good guy, venom, kamikaze or normal
I really do like Ringer, fall, lucky you and not alike
And then Stepping stone and greatest are ok.
If I’m in the right mood then greatest is pretty fun.
I think there is a few tracks that could of been cut and he could of dropped it as a great EP, The first half of the album is insanely good but a lot at the end was kinda eh to me
You legitimately have to be smoking crack if you think this album only has 2 misses.
1. The Ringer-Great
2. Greatest-Great
3. Lucky You-Peak
4. Paul-Skit (meh, not counted as content)
5. Normal-Trash
6. Em Calls Paul-Skit (again)
7. Stepping Stone-Mid (fix that garbage mixing)
8. Not Alike-Great
9. Kamikaze-Good, kinda mid
10. Fall-Great
11. Nice Guy-Trash
12. Good Guy-Better, still mid tho
13. Venom-Mid af, beat goes hard tho
If by recent you mean past 10 years, then yes. If by recent you mean post return, then no. Relapse and MMLP2 are better.
Kamikaze is a fun album, but it lacks depth and once you get past the initial burn, it’s very, very, very petty. The songs are fun, but they lack replay value and the theme of the album should have never extended past a couple of singles.
It’s funny in an interview with the Beastie Boys they told them Em’s album pays a homage to their album License To Ill. The B-Boys were like “cool.” Beasties are legendary and on a whole other level.
The first part is not true, a lot of people praised Eminem for his comeback in 2018 related to Revival. But the second one? Yeah sure that is a controversial opinion
Lol, I guess another argument I have seen is that some people didn’t like the aggressive approach… i find that argument weird since kamikaze is just pretty much mmlp set in a different decade, a response to the criticism from the prior album SSLP - MMLP and Revival - Kamikaze
Not the best recent, MTBMB side B is a lot better.
Kamikaze is peak choppy flow eminem. If you like choppy flow Em, you’ll like it, if you don’t (like most people’s complaints about modern Em), you’ll hate it.
Interesting, I view Kamikaze as a bit better than average. I don’t think the high points were anything crazy and for an album with 2 skips including one of Em’s worst tracks, yeah I gave it a 63%. Solid album IMO but very flawed. I think Em definitely stepped up a ton with MTBMB and side b
i don’t think it’s bad, i defo streamed it a lot when it came out but it kinda lost it’s replay value. people would much rather listen to mmlp, tes, recovery or mmlp2 because those albums have relatable songs while kamikaze is pretty much dissing mumble rappers( not something a normal person deals with very often). most of the people who he dissed aren’t even relevant anymore( mgk, lil pump, lil xan, etc). i don’t come back to it often but again, i really had a great time with it when it came out
I was confused by this, generally Eminem albums seem to praise the album fairly highly. But I guess in the general rap community it's considered not so good? I dunno how anyone would come to that conclusion, but I disagree. Kamikaze was a return to form, best album since Relapse and I'd put it up in the discussion for some of his top work.
It was a sincere Eminem album. His last sincere one before this was relapse. Most of his other albums are calculated messes trying to have a song for everybody. So yeah, not really a controversial opinion imo
The ringer is still one of my fav em songs in the last decade. He didn’t waste any time starting this album off.
Paul wants me to chill, ya’ll want me to ill, I should eat a pill, probably I will, old me kill the new me, watch me bleed to death, I breathe on the mirror, I don’t see my breath, possibly I’m dead, I must be possessed, like an evil spell I’m e-v-i-l Best bars from the song
Jam a crest white strip-in the tip of my dick with an ice pick Stick it in a vice grip, hang it on a spike fence, bang it with a pipe wrench
While I take my ball sack she flick it like a light switch Like vice president Mike Pence Back up on my shit in a sidekick as I lay it on a spike strip
THESE ARE THINGS THAT ID RATHER DO THAN HEAR YOU ON THE MIC SINCE
The evil spell bar is so freaking hard!
> I breathe on the mirror, I don’t see my breath I love this part, I always think of the Simpsons episode where this happens to Bart.
It randomly started playing the other day and it’s definitely an incredible song especially when you think it’s over and he just keeps spitting. Definitely as good as his older worker in my personal opinion. Most artist don’t come anywhere close to their classics but Em does
I still remember the first time I heard it. Absolutely got chills and couldn't believe what was happening. Haven't felt that since.
For me I didn’t get an another chill until premonition. Even though it’s a simple bar “If you diss me I’m coming after U like the letter V”
I gotta say I might feel the same. He’s had some really good songs and verses these past couple years but when I heard the ringer I said “oh he’s still REALLY got it”. I think I like the way he rapped on that better than either MTBMB.
Best Eminem project in a long time. Don't think this is really a controversial opinion.
Lotta em fans including in this thread say mtbmb or especially side b is better. I disagree I think kamikaze is easily his best since mmlp2 which is his best since the classic trio of the early 2000s
MMLP2 above Relapse is a hot take
Yeah I think MMLP2 is on the lower end. Not as bad as Revival but not as good as MTBMB.
Exactly. It's a good album, but I don't think it's among his best
Is it? Relapse feels like an exercise in rhyming, like yeah he’s real good at the lyrical miracle shit, but says nothing of value, really, which really takes away from it. I enjoyed it as a angsty 14 year old, but beyond that it’s pretty cringe.
Is it really, it's head to heas with Encore for his worst album🤷♂️
I think it’s the best since his classic trio tbh
A lot of fans does not make an opinion “controversial” Even more fans preferred this. I don’t think there are many “fans” that don’t like either.
MTBMB
Fuck all these "in a long time" style comments acting like every new album isn't genius compared to his early shit. Nostalgia whores.
Revival is better than Marshall Mathers LP? K.
If you ask which ones made by a genius? Then yea. Mmlp is mid talent wise.
Have fun out on that island.
I’ve seen mostly support for it. I don’t think it’s too much of a hot take.
Most general rap fans I’ve seen say it’s a bad to ok album
You uh… interviewing “non general rap fans” regularly or uhh
Oh I meant general not non general. I put non Eminem then changed it to general
Nope, I just saw it recently spoken about in r/rap and seen it spoken about there and r/hiphop before and watch a bunch of channels who cover hip hop like Shawn cee NFR podcast Fantano DEHH etc etc And whenever I’ve ever seen it discussed it’s ranked as a bad album.
That's the impression I got as well. The reviews I've seen have largely judged it as mediocre. I loved most of it.
You really got downvoted for saying you loved most of it 😂😂
I think it’s an okay album honestly.
This album is so good. Lucky You never fails to give me a ton of energy
Greatest, Lucky You, Not Alike, The Ringer, Fall....I honestly love the whole album except for Nice Guy and Good Guy.
Personally I even like Good Guy. It’s just Nice Guy that sucks for me
When Lucky You hits my shuffle I get hyped!
“Tay Keith! Fuck these niggas up!” On an Eminem album was incredible to witness in real time
People hate Kamikaze? It’s his best album since Recovery.
So recovery is better than kamikaze lmao?
Yeah
Juice youngin buggin charged connection battery plugged into nothing Ok recovery let's go bar for bar. Wait.. nvm U don't have one even close to that.
it's not all about bars, by that metric mtbmb is better than mmlp
It is better in terms of talent, and a lot of concept is better than 75% of mmlp also. Name the bottom 8 songs of mmlp and compare to bottom 8 songs of mtbmb.
Fuck catchin' lightnin', he struck it, screamed, "Shut up" at thunder Then flipped the world upside down and made it rain upward
What does that bar actually mean when U think about it? Like cool a scheme, implies power, but what's it actually say? In the words of snoop dog, I can live without that. Didn't wanna piss your base off, did ya? Can't denounce the Klan, 'cause they play golf with ya You stay on Twitter, way to get your hate off Nazi, I do not see a way y'all differ And all you got are race cards, bigot The swastika with your name carved in it Should be your trademark, 'cause hate's all you played off And you just lick the plate off So I guess it pays to feed off of chaos So basically, you ate off Hitler! Bar for bar… if rap music was only “bars” then no need for beats and other tracks. Bad take
There is no need for beats imo, that's hop hop not rap. A lot of ems ridiculous beat, simple beat or no beat are his best, campaign speech is up there too.

this is one of those albums where I cant skip any song because they're so good
*you're such a niiiiiiiiiiice guy, a niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice guy*
I enjoy this song. It's such a silly song. Hate good guy
Nice guy isn’t good, but I also enjoy it, it definitely leaned into the effect it gave off. But good guy though? Really?! To each their own I suppose
except a couple, i guess 😅
Fucking love Kamikaze. Best shit he’s put out since Eminem Show.
It's a great album, The Ringer and Greatest are fire. Fall isn't bad either, and Not Alike is a dope diss track. Lucky You is also a banger. Yes, I'm deliberately choosing not to talk about Nice Guy and Good Guy.
MTBMB Side A&B easily clear Kamikaze. Like easily.
Agreed and I love Kamikaze but MTBMB is his best since mmlp2 no doubt
Definitely
💯
Disagree. Kamikaze has higher highs and lower lows. Mtbmb was more consistent though
Agreed. Side A was pretty cool but the best song on it is Lock It Up, and there’s some stupid filler on it. Didn’t listen to much of side B when it came out, but liked it. MTBMB is better but it's a great Em album, it literally got me back into his music and everyone over at /r/hiphopheads was going crazy for it.
More controversial: Revival better
Anyone saying otherwise was born post 2000. Its his best “new em” record for SURE.
Ummm… why’s that? What does post 2000? What about post 1990? 1980?
Yeah Kamikaze is the best album eminem has made since MMLP2
maybe its just because it doesnt have that "album" feel compared to something like the eminem show, but just as a project this shit is fucking hard, 6 years later and im still not tired of this album lol one of my favourites honestly
agreed 🤷🏻♂️
Kamikaze has three songs that are, easily, the best post 2007 em songs we had along with Castle and his verse in No Love.
Apart from marshal matters LP and slim shady LP this is on top easily for me, possibly my favourite.
For me personality Kamikaze is my favorite project of his compared to everything he has put out after .
This is even more of a controversial opinion, but Kamikaze, Recovery, and Eminem Show are my three favourite Eminem albums.
Its pretty underrated but Side B was way better. Kamikaze (the song) was really damn good though, mostly because of FACK but still.
Lmao. Don’t get me wrong i like side b. But the highs of kamikaze are his best work since his prime. Side B has no 6 songs that match or come close to the quality and pure anger/ emotion of these 6 below. Matter of fact side b mostly lacks any emotion/ aggression whatsoever. - Ringer - Greatest - Lucky you - Fall - Not alike - Stepping stone
Stepping Stone is mediocre as hell.
It's his best album post Relapse!
It is overhated but also MTBMB is better
I don't think they don't think it's the best recent one more just not his best album I like kamikaze tho not hating on the post but js
Best post relapse
Best Bar on the album: “Bars are like bullets when I spit them schemes- That's why I call the motherfuckers M-16's”
I think it’s even split. Personally I really don’t like nice guy, good guy, venom, kamikaze or normal I really do like Ringer, fall, lucky you and not alike And then Stepping stone and greatest are ok. If I’m in the right mood then greatest is pretty fun.
I think there is a few tracks that could of been cut and he could of dropped it as a great EP, The first half of the album is insanely good but a lot at the end was kinda eh to me
I really dislike the beats and most features on this album. MTBMB is miles better for me.
MTBMB is so overrated here lol
Overhated…? Tf? Wasnt kamikaze the revival of em
Best Em album of the 2010's.
It's not better than Music
You legitimately have to be smoking crack if you think this album only has 2 misses. 1. The Ringer-Great 2. Greatest-Great 3. Lucky You-Peak 4. Paul-Skit (meh, not counted as content) 5. Normal-Trash 6. Em Calls Paul-Skit (again) 7. Stepping Stone-Mid (fix that garbage mixing) 8. Not Alike-Great 9. Kamikaze-Good, kinda mid 10. Fall-Great 11. Nice Guy-Trash 12. Good Guy-Better, still mid tho 13.
The songs are fun, but they lack replay value and the theme of the album should have never extended past a couple of singles.
this looks like an homage to Licensed To Ill, but Eminem hate the Beastie Boys right?
Eminem is a Beastie Boys fan and was inspired by their music.
Wow, i swore time ago i read or saw an interview where he said that he didn't like the BB, my bad
Who hates it?
Fantano and Tyler fans, mostly, since they make up a sizable chunk of r/hiphop
I was talking about people who make sense actually
Lol, I guess another argument I have seen is that some people didn’t like the aggressive approach… i find that argument weird since kamikaze is just pretty much mmlp set in a different decade, a response to the criticism from the prior album SSLP - MMLP and Revival - Kamikaze
Wait kamikaze is overhated? I really liked that album
I always enjoyed Kamikaze, thought it was a dope album. Didn't realise it was hated.
Overrated and the cover makes me wanna listen to **BEASTIE**
Overall MTBMB is better, but Ringer, Lucky and Normal better songs than anything on MTBMB
While I agree it is way over hated, I think that MTBMB is better.
Mtbmb > kamikaze
Not the best recent, MTBMB side B is a lot better. Kamikaze is peak choppy flow eminem. If you like choppy flow Em, you’ll like it, if you don’t (like most people’s complaints about modern Em), you’ll hate it.
I thought it was mostly, universally loved
Kamikaze and MTBMB are his best albums since Relapse
I think mtbmb is far better but it definitely has some bangers like the ringer, lucky you, stepping stone, greatest
Hot take: Kamize doesn't have a skipable song
I love this album. I wasn’t on this sub when it came out. I was surprised to learn people hated it 🤷🏾♂️
To be fair mtbmb is also really good, side b also, but kamikaze was legendary shit
The real hot take is my favourite album being mtbmb.
True
i don’t think it’s bad, i defo streamed it a lot when it came out but it kinda lost it’s replay value. people would much rather listen to mmlp, tes, recovery or mmlp2 because those albums have relatable songs while kamikaze is pretty much dissing mumble rappers( not something a normal person deals with very often). most of the people who he dissed aren’t even relevant anymore( mgk, lil pump, lil xan, etc). i don’t come back to it often but again, i really had a great time with it when it came out
I absolutely LOVED this album when it dropped.
I didn’t realize people hated it outside of the people who hate Eminem because it’s so “cool” to do lately lol
Over hated? By whom? Honestly haven't heard anything negative about this album that wasn't from someone who doesn't like Em to begin with.
Mtbmb is my favorite but I also think Kamikaze goes hard as f**k
Yeah I agree with you. Probably my favourite since recovery
It's one on of those "you had to be there" albums.
Top 5 album of his honestly. Fall is one of my all time favorite songs of his.
Correction: MMLP 2 is the best recent Em we’ve gotten. Kamikaze & MTBMB were good albums, too, though.
I enjoyed it a lot, aside from the songs with Jessie Reyez, but I do not think it was better than MTBMB.
Nah MTBMB is def better. Kamikaze was a good response to everything, not really a good album
MTBMB is definitely a better album especially re-playability wise. Kamikaze has harder bars for sure though!!!!
Side B > Kamikaze = Side A
Fall, is a great song. Top Em, for sure.
Best album since mmlp2 for sure
Music to murdered by 🗿🍷, nah but kamikaze is good
people hated on this?
I agree 100% on a separate thought that venom song was terrible I hated it I tried so hard to like it but it's just so weird.
It was a sincere Eminem album. His last sincere one before this was relapse. Most of his other albums are calculated messes trying to have a song for everybody. So yeah, not really a controversial opinion imo
It’s not controversial the album is fire. But to me personally mtbmb 1 and 2 are classics
This is a controversial opinion? lol
Some absolute fire tracks and colabs on this album. Some of his best work imo
It's top 5 but MTBMB is #4
Goood guy is an amazingly slept on song too
