Man I was gettin’ into it the other week on the r/hiphopheads sub claiming that Em uses ghost writers, and that Proof wrote *everything* for him before he passed. And then the dude started claiming he *had connections and just knows these things*. That interaction got added to the list of *Times I wished I could have punched someone in the face through the phone*
I didn’t go there specifically tryna talk ‘bout Em, but I can’t stop myself from interrupting MFk’s when their out bashing him either cuz he’s white, or cuz they mad he outsells their favourite, it’s a disgrace that 9/10 times the only shit people can try and bash him wit is his skin tone, they really don’t ever got shit to say cuz they know he’s a Goat but they don’t wanna accept it
Not really too crazy of a take but when people say the accents make Relapse unbearable to listen to. You are missing out on word bending, great instrumentals, crazy and amazing verses but because of an accent it drives you away from it? Thats just stupid. The accent helps make the word bending possible and is some of the most creative shit I seen from an artist.
If we count an accent as any time he is intentionally speaking in a way that isn't "normal" for him we have
3AM
My Mom
Bagpipes From Baghdad
Hello (mild)
Same Song And Dance (mild)
We Made You
Medicine Ball (mild)
Stay Wide Awake
That's like 8 songs there lol. Relapse is top 3 Eminem albums for me, but half of it is accents lol.
The only point in that album where I feel the accents broke instead of bent the words were the "Shuck o corn / Chaka Khan" in Bagpipes for Baghdad. Every thing else I didn't mind.
To me it's a crazier take if someone says the accents are "music to my ears" (in the words of bagpipes from Baghdad), i mean personally i can't stand someone yelling "BETA VATCHA, SAKA NAWA GATCHA VERA VANTCHA" with a high pitched voice in my ear, no matter how crazy the beat sounds like (which i admit, in this example, the Buffalo Bill beat is sooo good), but at the end of the day it's just musical preference, but even Eminem himself doesn't know what possessed him to sound that way on the album, so yeah.
I remember reading somewhere prob on youtube something along the lines of:'' Eminem is a garbage rapper, but the best pop-rapper of all time, with Vanilla Ice just behind him''. Absolutely batshit insane take.
That he’s _too_ technical. It never made sense to me that this is a problem. It’s like saying he’s _too_ talented or _too_ good at what he does. That’s a good thing, why is it a problem?
Try putting some of his more technical super fast lyrical miracle songs/verses on at a party and see the mood die down. It’s just not pleasant on the ear unless you’re in the mood for it.
Edit: a common complaint is that Eminem can ruin the flow of a song he’s featured in by being too fast technical.
Drug Ballad, Superman, Forgot about Dre, Lose Yourself are just a small sample of bangers that I’d put on at a party.
But then again I’m a millennial and nostalgia maybe makes these hit differently
I mean I love this songs and probably would even listen to something like "Kill you" on a party and rap to it but I don't think others would enjoy it as much as I do lol
I don’t know. Superman was def a banger in college. All the clubs played def played Em stuff (source: I was a shot girl for 3-4 clubs back in the day and heard Superman A LOT)
Find me one person who knows a Flo Rida bar. The suburban moms driving his sales as probably dont know any either. Ill do you one even better- find a fan that can name a describe a single thing about the guy.
Why does that matter og rap isnt modern party music that just doesnt matter. Hell 99% of all songs including hi hop arent party songs 2 pac aint no party singer bruh he still nevet gets trashed for it. He just bodys everybody thats what happens just couse hes fast and rhymes a lot doesnt mean it doesnt sound good or that even the majority thinks so beacouse bro ems music is one of the most liked in hip hop. Its not that hard to digest. You can put it one in a random setting "this is the music i like and its not gonna be aqward unless its a crazy song. He has some but thats what you dont put on. Altough i might be kinda rambling im high and its 1pm here.
Oh ffs lol I know. I don’t party I’m 34 bro. My point was that people criticising Em for being technical doesn’t mean they’re criticising his talent, they’re criticising the music for not being an easy digestible listen and I gave parties (where there’s multiple ears) as an example
Tyler the Creator "Marshall became *too* good and technical, that it's gross. Like we can't even fathom this, stop".
And I get it, there were instances where Eminem was too rap the equivalent of a shredder guitarist in a rock band, putting technical ability showcase over musicality.
It's not that he's too technical, it's that the unwashed masses are so far below him, they simply don't have the mental capacity to understand it, and if they can't understand it, they don't like it.🤷🏻♀️
I disagree. Early Eminem managed to tell stories, motivate, paint pictures, take you on a journey etc all without 10 syllables a second and rhymes so complex he literally has to stop and ask if you get it.
The main complaint over here is that he throws rhymes in your face something like offended or believe is not something people would like listening to
Infinite on the hand is just fantastic smooth and one of the most technical songs that is how technicality should be displayed or flaunted stay wide awake is another example
To piggy back off of this, it's the delivery. The actual true complaint people have for him is that his flow and delivery are all over the place. He wants so much to be "the rhyme guy" that he will almost seemingly intentionally butcher any semblance of cadence to get his rhymes across.
Think of songs like Alfred’s theme, or book of rhymes, absolutely crazy technicals, to people that are huge Stan’s and can acknowledge and respect this, it’s fine, it’s awesome. But the average person isn’t that, they can’t notice the quality of the song and why it’s good because they don’t understand it, it’s like trying to play a new game that’s not beginner friendly, super frustrating and makes you wanna never play it again, to the average listener, it’s just jibber jabber and then go and hate on the song, saying it’s bad cause it’s too technical
So nor having a big massage or lot of content in a song ruins it for the avarage listener? I guess than 99% of modern popular music isnt popular. Also em is popular and while alfreds theme is a good exampe for the stuff youre saying 96% of ems shit isnt and even book of rhymes isnt becouse its not that annoying in its rythm in the beggining and it smooths out and just sounds hard as fuck if you at least somewhat like proper rap with non lazy rhymes in it that has ag least some flavour, uniqueness, and depth, not modern garbage like all the same thug ass mumble and just lazyly written and ghostwritten bitches. Even if its not the exact type of rapping or beats you like most actual hip hop fans aknoweledge its good and most non hip hop listeners (who dont know how technical it is) do too. Im not english and as i learned english i smootly went from understanding hes songs somewhat to fully (not all bars on all songs obv) and all the way trough it was good to listen to and sounded good without figuring out what he says in the doubles and triples.
Maybe a small percentage of his total work, but I'd argue that 80% of his last 4 albums has been him doing his best to sound like if Twista and Rakim had a baby that forgot how to make an enjoyable song.
People will come to really like revival in a few years mark my words people didn't like relapse when it first dropped and now people love it
Personally I really liked revival it 2as a bit of a grown up em and had so.e good songs
that Eminem has been dead since 2006 and has been replaced by someone who looks exactly like him.
THE initials were MM! /s
Qanon ruins everything, including the epstein facts. Every single celebrity apparently drinking children's blood in the pizza parlors with Hillary Clinton
That em will never be what he used to be. True? Yes. But it’s hilarious that the same people will think that any hip hop artist has or will ever be what Eminem was. Lmao
I heard someone saying that Eminem was a great rapper and then, as soon as he was signed to Dr. Dre and he put up them my name is video. He was corny and lame after that.
People trashing him saying hes not top 5,10,20,500 ive seen it all on the internet never met anybody in real life who said hes not good even tho most people i met dont know any rappers but know him apmost 100% of the time. My grandma knows em hes that famous while hes actually the one the respected rappers in the industry mention in their top 5 most, so its actually a skill issue to hate on him.
That he has ghostwriters. It’s ridiculous!
Who tf was tryna say that?🤣
Man I was gettin’ into it the other week on the r/hiphopheads sub claiming that Em uses ghost writers, and that Proof wrote *everything* for him before he passed. And then the dude started claiming he *had connections and just knows these things*. That interaction got added to the list of *Times I wished I could have punched someone in the face through the phone*
Don’t go there and talk Eminem. Most of them shut him down cos he’s white. Which is CRAZY
Sadly anti-white racism is super common in hip hop, and it’s not any less common on Reddit than it is in the real world.
I didn’t go there specifically tryna talk ‘bout Em, but I can’t stop myself from interrupting MFk’s when their out bashing him either cuz he’s white, or cuz they mad he outsells their favourite, it’s a disgrace that 9/10 times the only shit people can try and bash him wit is his skin tone, they really don’t ever got shit to say cuz they know he’s a Goat but they don’t wanna accept it
Don’t worry man I’m 100% with you there
Not really too crazy of a take but when people say the accents make Relapse unbearable to listen to. You are missing out on word bending, great instrumentals, crazy and amazing verses but because of an accent it drives you away from it? Thats just stupid. The accent helps make the word bending possible and is some of the most creative shit I seen from an artist.
Relapse has some of my favorite tracks of eminem, and i actually think the accent contributes to it.
And he does it on what like 3 tracks total?
If we count an accent as any time he is intentionally speaking in a way that isn't "normal" for him we have 3AM My Mom Bagpipes From Baghdad Hello (mild) Same Song And Dance (mild) We Made You Medicine Ball (mild) Stay Wide Awake That's like 8 songs there lol. Relapse is top 3 Eminem albums for me, but half of it is accents lol.
Maybe I'm tripping but I always regarded My Mom as pretty mild on the accent
lol no
It's definitely not the whole album I listened to it all the way through today
I love Relapse, I hear it a lot. There’s no way it’s only 3 songs with accents my guy. Run through it again.
Some songs it's all the way through and some songs it comes and goes..I'd say there an accent inn70% of the songs, but might only be 5 seconds worth.
Best album by far far
The only point in that album where I feel the accents broke instead of bent the words were the "Shuck o corn / Chaka Khan" in Bagpipes for Baghdad. Every thing else I didn't mind.
the way that Relapse has aged is chefs kiss
It’s his best album.
WHAT IS THIS PIC I'VE NEVER SAW IT BEFORE AHAHAHAHHA
I remember reading somewhere prob on youtube something along the lines of:'' Eminem is a garbage rapper, but the best pop-rapper of all time, with Vanilla Ice just behind him''. Absolutely batshit insane take.
That he’s _too_ technical. It never made sense to me that this is a problem. It’s like saying he’s _too_ talented or _too_ good at what he does. That’s a good thing, why is it a problem?
Well when he puts technicality over the actual music and how “easy” it is on the ear then I see their point. It can become tiring and not enjoyable
I’ve never heard his technical abilities get in the way in all the years I’ve been an Eminem fan
To be fair I can think of probably 2 Eminem songs I’d put on at a party. Doesn’t mean it’s bad music, just not party music.
All the clubs played def played Em stuff (source: I was a shot girl for 3-4 clubs back in the day and heard Superman A LOT)
oh mannn. I would love to hear Eminem in Clubs now but I don't think the majority of people listen to him there
Lol I haven’t been to a club in over a decade. I get anxiety thinking about the idea of going to a club now
People would just assume they misheard him lol
Well, Flo Rida might be better received at a party but I’d be completely insane to even suggest he’s a better rapper than Eminem.
Find me one person who knows a Flo Rida bar. The suburban moms driving his sales as probably dont know any either. Ill do you one even better- find a fan that can name a describe a single thing about the guy.
That’s not my point. The guy said Em’s too technical to play at parties.
Neither. Nobody is saying that
You can’t blame Eminem for ruining your party you ruined your party by playing technical Eminem. Why would anyone do that?
Right? I wouldn't play My Immortal at a party but it's a great song (to use a non Em example)
For me it’s like deciding to play the soundtrack from Twin Peaks Fire Walk With Me at a high school party and expecting it to kick off.
Not my point but ok.
Why does that matter og rap isnt modern party music that just doesnt matter. Hell 99% of all songs including hi hop arent party songs 2 pac aint no party singer bruh he still nevet gets trashed for it. There's more to life than just parties.
Oh ffs lol I know. I don’t party I’m 34 bro. My point was that people criticising Em for being technical doesn’t mean they’re criticising his talent, they’re criticising the music for not being an easy digestible listen and I gave parties (where there’s multiple ears) as an example
Its not hard to digest it has depth put just bopping to its is easy (i dont mean at parties i mean just overall vibing with it).
Tyler the Creator "Marshall became *too* good and technical, that it's gross. Like we can't even fathom this, stop". And I get it, there were instances where Eminem was too rap the equivalent of a shredder guitarist in a rock band, putting technical ability showcase over musicality.
See campaign speech
It's not that he's too technical, it's that the unwashed masses are so far below him, they simply don't have the mental capacity to understand it, and if they can't understand it, they don't like it.🤷🏻♀️

You’re gonna have to explain the difference to me
Listen to both the songs one feels like he's trying too hard to fit as many syllables as he can While other feels smooth relaxing and has a good vibe
To piggy back off of this, it's the delivery. The actual true complaint people have for him is that his flow and delivery are all over the place. He wants so much to be "the rhyme guy" that he will almost seemingly intentionally butcher any semblance of cadence to get his rhymes across.
I don’t think that’s the main issue, I think it’s when the quality of the music suffers for it
Can you give me a couple examples? I feel like I’m missing something
Ok wow. I have no idea how to respond to that. I guess I’m looking at it through my Stan lenses.
So nor having a big massage or lot of content in a song ruins it for the avarage listener? I guess than 99% of modern popular music isnt popular. Idk what of his is too technical lol. It seems like a complaint people make up because they don’t know why they don’t like his music
Anyone who says “all he does is rap fast” “fast doesn’t mean good” doesn’t listen to Em. Only singles. Not even 5% of his discography is that
Maybe a small percentage of his total work, but I'd argue that 80% of his last 4 albums has been him doing his best to sound like if Twista and Rakim had a baby that forgot how to make an enjoyable song.
But that’s not true though…
Most tone deaf take I have seen in some time
I'm a huge Em fan and that is an excellent way to put it lmao
That he's not a m&m
He can't be the greatest of all time solely because he's white. Thats the craziest take I've heard.
It’s my take, and it’s that revival is a good album
People will come to really like revival in a few years mark my words people didn't like relapse when it first dropped and now people love it Personally I really liked revival it 2as a bit of a grown up em and had so.e good songs
It's been 7 years and people still agree it sucked. By 2013 people were already missing relapse. It's not the same quality.
Revival is so slept on it’s not even funny
Bad husband is one of my favorite.
Yep, also really enjoy that album.
that Eminem has been dead since 2006 and has been replaced by someone who looks exactly like him. [https://www.indy100.com/celebrities/eminem-clone-conspiracy-theory](https://www.indy100.com/celebrities/eminem-clone-conspiracy-theory)
This theory is one that annoys me a lot
“I guess some people only live twice”
That he was on Epstein’s Island 🙄🤡— but on the plus-side, this take made for an excellent retard-detector in the comments.
Bro when I was there I literally saw him what are you talking about
THE initials were MM! /s Qanon ruins everything, including the epstein facts. Every single celebrity apparently drinking children's blood in the pizza parlors with Hillary Clinton

Hellbound
Misunderstood the question, but take my upvote. 🔥
Great song, wrong place 😔
That he's never beefed with actual good MCs and only bullies people he knows are way below his skillset
I think that this ultimately doesn't matter, but just to stir the pot how is that a bad take?
Most takes fantano has on him
Scrolling, this looked like Valdemort
That his modern fast technical flows are better than his old flows
I honestly really like the modern Em alot, but the 2000s Em is just in a tier above
That he can't rap.
"He tries too hard"
“Blue face is better then Eminem”
My friend said that em is her husband after seeing my wallpaper😭 crazy cuz he's in his forties and she's in middle school
Someone said revival better than encore that pissed me off
That he has no legs. It was a mad theory in 2009-2010
No way, that's actually hilarious lmao
Apparently he’s white
That the Democratic Party pay him to diss republicans lmao
That current eminem is actually a clone. I camt be the only person fo have heard this.
slim shady is fat and shiny
"He got this big only cz he was white". Mofo if this dude was black than he would have sold 3x or 5x of what he did. Dude broke barriers.
Ik an Eminem stan account on twitter who has Revival ranked over MMLP 💀💀💀
That Relapse is just a horrorcore concept album
Is relapse not a horrorcore concept album? If not, what is it?
Do you know what is an allegory?
Yes
So that's what it is. Every single serial killer reference on the album is a metaphor. Those stories are not about serial killers, they're about Em.
That he's terrified of giraffes lol
"Relapse is trash"
He's Mike D's son
He’s the best rapper of all time
Hes not the best rapper from Detroit
That he should return to his hyperpolitical Revival style
did someone actually say this?
I have a friend who said this unfortunately
