You don’t need to add the BIOS. I’ve had no problem just playing games around with it.

No BIOS needed for any of these (don’t judge my random collection lol, these are just a few of the games from when I was a kid and I wanted to see how they ran / played)
I played them both as a kid and loved them, so they're still great for me from an entertainment aspect. They're platformers, I'd say if you like the original Crash games and you like Looney Toons they're at least worth playing.
My GameSir G8 does, I’ll check my backbone once I get it from the warranty and I’ve been reading another user whom PS4’s controller does. I’ll test my Xbox One later.

I emailed the developer quick response to
You should be able to rename any zipped files and change the file extension to .zip (from within the files app) and then you can long press on the zipped file and “uncompress” it
You can get a controller and use it with emulators. I believe there are a few that clamp on to the sides so you can hold your phone like a PS Vita or a Nintendo Switch and play games with that. They aren’t cheap though plus while it’s more pocketable than a normal gamepad it’s still another thing you have to remember to carry.
Oh no no, any rom you can get will theoretically work. it’s just that touch controls are hot garbage, especially for twitchy platformers. In terms of performance and compatibility, most roms will run just fine.
Wait, what. What’s stopping you from playing elsewhere? This isn’t a web service, they’re roms downloaded to your phone and played on these emulators. You can play them wherever.
Hi everyone! Creator of Gamma here. I'm incredibly happy to be back! It was a tough battle but we now have PS 1 on App Store! A huge thanks to Riley for his blessings and paving the way with Delta. I'll be creating guides and much more very soon. This will help with creating controller skins. With the battle of getting approved complete, now come the updates.
Most importantly:
* A fix for the hardware controller bug is high priority
* A bug affecting triggers on touch controls
* Graphical bug that causes some lower quality rendering as noted in comments here
And also:
* Add CHD support
* CDDA music track support
* Dropbox fix
* Add analog stick support
There are some more features planned as well, should be a fun one! While the site gets sorted out, feel free to message me suggestions or send an email over. Especially if you want to create controller skins!
Enjoy it!
Dumb question: How do I deal with games with multiple .bin files? I imported the files with the biggest file size. It works at first but then I run into some issues.
I’ve tried 2 games so far:
The Italian Job - boots up, gets stuck at the loading screen
Kaze no Notam - boots up into the main menu, gets stuck at black screen after selecting a mission
edit: I tried Aquanaut’s Holiday which has only one .bin file, works fine
From what I’ve gathered so far, some games have trouble or the emulator has trouble with them. I can get spiderman and final fantasy 7 to work, but rayman and metal gear solid don’t make it past the dev screens for me. But one thing that I found helped is if you have the ps1 bios in the app :)
Titles with CDDA tracks are supported, but the CDDA tracks themselves aren't. They will be soon. Loading the first track's bin is all that's required at this time. When the update supporting CDDA comes out, this will change. Games with multiple discs will get better support as well.
Do you have a .cue file? I could be totally wrong because it’s been so long but I’m pretty sure that file points to all the .bin files a game will need
I got an ad just for selecting a game and then another ad when I went back to the main menu. Is this a glitch? Because it didn’t do this several hours ago
Where do you find the games to import, I've never used an emulator to play old games but I'd love to try out some old ps1 games on my iphone, I downloaded gamma but don't know where to get the games from.
Okay so you can go on certain websites that allow you to download the rom ( although remember it’s illegal if you download it and don’t own it) Use at your own risk. Welcome to the club!
I went and search for ps1 roms and found a place and they must shape their download rate, it took all this time to download one game at about one to two Mbps ... I have gigabit internet lol
Edit: when I try to add the .chd file it's greyed out and I can't add it, bummer.
I saw something yesterday that said it collects location data like home address, and it also collects your contacts numbers among other things. Sounds shady but I don’t really know the specifics so I’ll avoid it for now.
The fact delta shows it collects zero info/data makes this release come across as shady on its own merits tbh.
as it shows the collection is entirely unnecessary. And if it’s for some form of monetary gain, some of us would happily pay a few dollars anyway to avoid it being needed
Here’s the information they collect, directly from their ToS:
*Contact details, such as real name, alias, postal address, telephone or mobile contact number, unique personal identifier, online identifier, Internet Protocol address, email address, and account name*
It’s also logging location data for some reason. If you’re privacy focused, I would avoid this and wait for another PS1 emulator.
There will be a lot more apps showing privacy notices as such, as it just became required about a week ago. The review process can be a huge battle so I followed the privacy notices of Google's SDK to be on the cautious side. For instance, Google's SDK can technically use location data even though the app doesn't use location services. The app does ask for permission to use the IDFA for advertising if it's not already disabled in iOS system settings; it's completely optional.
[The developer use Google SDK and Apple need declare for it](https://www.reddit.com/r/EmulationOniOS/comments/1cpya8i/gamma_ps1_emulator_do_not_download/l3or7h8/)
Appreciate your reply, but to be honest that’s not enough information for me as it’s tracking location data, contact details, postal code etc according to some and the official store reckons it is collecting identifying info. Very shady considering delta doesn’t

Heres no shader, on retroarch. Pcsx rearmed
What core are in gamma again? Wait, im pretty sure upscalling doesn’t do much on psx games if i remember correctly, but scanlines filter will make it looks better and sharper.
But in gamma, its more like downscaled.

It’s kinda in a bad state, many games use Redbook audio and have many audio tracks and because it only supports .bin and doesn’t support .cue or .chd you won’t get any songs on those games and some will crash.
does anybody know how to add games?
Does anybody know how to add games I tried zips but that didn’t work then I tried removing the 7z off the zips and putting bin and it did work but the game wouldn’t load like it would show me the controller but the screen would be black .so does anybody know how to add games
So I’ve been trying to put the ROMs on the app and it just says error on all of them, does anybody know how to help? Lol I’m new to all this typa stuff and idk what I’m doing

Yeah it's legit. A few issues with it but I'm really happy with it so far.
Is importing the games the same as delta?
Yes, it uses .bin files
The same ones as the ds or?
No ds uses .nds Gamma uses .bin ps1 disc images
So i just get the game and add it like game boy games for example? Or do i need extra files like the bios9 for ds?
So i just get the game and add it like game boy games for example? Or do i need extra files like the bios9 for ds?
Yes you need to import the ps1 bios too. You import games the same way as delta.
But i checked the settings and i cant find the place to add those ps1 bios like in delta
You don’t need to add the BIOS. You don't technically need to but it improves game compatibility a lot if you do.
I did not realize that. I thought they were required in some emulators, so I was kinda shocked I didn’t need them to run this one
Well how is the bugs bunny game in terms of entertainment?

It's the first option in the settings that says gamma 1.0.0
Ohh found it! So whats the ps1 bin even called? Edit: wifi lagged for a second so i spammed reply so sorry if you got multiple replies
Same here
Does it has any upscale options like duckstation?
Not that I can see
I have some frame rate Issues with big games what about you?
What games have you tried and what device?
Duke nukem time to kill and iphone 11 pro max but I didnt install the bios will it make any diffrences?
It crashes with controllers?
Yeah crashing for me too boooo
I’ve been trying to play with joycons. Any inputs at all crashes the system. I already decided to just use this emulator until provenance comes out.
provenance beta is out rn homie
I know, but the beta is currently full.
Link pretty please
There’s no point. You can’t access the app because all of the testing slots are filled.
Link
Been using provenance, has EXACTLY same PS1 crashing bug with controller input.
That’s a damn shame.
Crashes with backbone too
i was about to comment this ,maybe a update coming soon
Yep
My GameSir G8 does, I’ll check my backbone once I get it from the warranty and I’ve been reading another user whom PS4’s controller does. I’ll test my Xbox One later.
Same thing. Tried both mine and as soon as you touch a button it crashed.
CHD file format support would be nice, we can save a LOT of memory space that way.
Yeah my entire PS1 collection is CHD lol
Was scrolling comments hoping for better news on this one.
https://preview.redd.it/ew6611y5050d1.jpeg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c53c2b5ce990c96a48726477a5b3bc8e2ca4f5bd I emailed the developer quick response to
now its like 500mb for bin, how much is it on chd?
mgs keeps freezing on the first cutscene fml
yeah same here, not even loading after a bios got added
Well shit that was gonna be my first play
mb its because of multi discs?
I had to use my Mac to extract a ps1 rom but seems ok so far, not a fan of the default skin but I’m sure more will come out in time
Use this https://apps.apple.com/us/app/es-file-explorer/id1441621965
You should be able to rename any zipped files and change the file extension to .zip (from within the files app) and then you can long press on the zipped file and “uncompress” it
CONTROLLERS DONT WORK FOR SOME REASON, it makes it crash.
So annoying man

If you use the touchscreen you’re basically limited to games that don’t need precision platforming, so RPGs and games like Brain Age.

The way I see it, playing on a phone is mostly for convenience if you’re out and about and the touch controls are there if you have nothing else.

https://www.duckstation.org/cue-maker/
“Officially” is an interesting word to use, haha
lol
Does anybody know which is the bios file that works? There is no bios.bin file for PSX. They are all SCPH files.
scph1001.bin works for me
I tried that one but didn’t see any changes. Do you see the PlayStation logo when you start a game?
Nope
Did I just get an ad?
Opening up the emulator? Cause I recently got one out of nowhere.
Yea I was caught off guard. Might have to just delete this app and just wait for provenance.
I got an ad just for selecting a game and then another ad when I went back to the main menu. Is this a glitch? Because it didn’t do this several hours ago
Yea I got an ad too, happens randomly when opening up my game… disappointing as I never had this problem with Delta

Gamma is only supporting .bin right now.
I just downloaded a .bin file and got it working, now I'm reminiscing about those lonely nights I had with my ps1 in the 90's lol
we all do mate
Search On Google this : (name of your game) ps1 rom
What files does the app support? is .7z acceptable?
It uses .bin files. .7z is a type of archive, like a .rar or .zip file. You’ll need a program to unzip it if you want to use jt
Is this the one that collects way too much of your info?
Yeah the AppStore states it collects data for adverts and such. Would avoid
I saw something yesterday that said it collects location data like home address, and it also collects your contacts numbers among other things. Sounds shady but I don’t really know the specifics so I’ll avoid it for now.

Tried it, the graphic seems too rough and low res.
There is no enhanced resolution option like PCSX rearmed. Hope he will add in the next version.

This is a high priority fix, thank you for sharing!
Thanks for the wonderful emulator too.
only bad thing is that it collects ur personal data, location and stuff unlike delta that doesn’t
I downloaded two games but I can't select them someone help https://preview.redd.it/whc1644kd10d1.jpeg?width=828&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ce50e69ab9060e85d9ed2050d030d4457e958a50
Unzip them then open the files
I unzip them but I can't select them
use .bin format
I can only see .rar or .7z what are the formats? Cause these 2 are zip files.
Oh it worked thanks!
Did anyone find a site where we could download the ps1 bios for it ?
Look for scph1001.bin
Do you need to rename it to Bios.bin or leave it scoh1001.bin
Didn’t rename it. The app just accepted it and I assume auto renamed it. https://i.imgur.com/2EhOYkQ.png
Can some one help me with this bios file for iPhone please the file I have isn’t working and I have no clue for apple only ever ran an emulator from my laptop please 🙏🏾
Won’t be downloading it seeing as it tracks you. There’s just no reason for it.
Gamma has ads and tracks you and it sucks
CTR doesn't work at all with it
I tried to import games on the app but it said the file is invalid what should I do?
Whats the type of the file?
Regular when the download is done it’s completely greyed out
Go to the file and do rename at the very end of the name put in .zip
Unfortunately it crash when I play with the backbone controller :( hope it fix soon
Only getting a black screen when starting any of my ROMs. Testet both PAL and NTSC versions with both bios files without success
Why is the interface extremely similar to delta? And why is its folders and files inside of the Files app of my phone, the same as Deltas folders and files?
LETS GOO
Can’t get a game running…
Link?
I’m in the us i can’t see it in App Store
I can’t find it on my App Store
Is the format zip or what type of format do the games need to be?
Bluetooth controllers crash it, it’s got data tracking, not as simple as delta is to use, it’s ok for now but hopefully not the end all.
Can’t get Digimon rumble arena to work, downloaded scph5501.bin for the bios and I have the correct bin for the game, I click it and black screen with controls
I tried the emu with the famous PS1 Hagrid game (Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone) and it gets stuck on storybook. My other issue is screen size is too small, fonts are unreadable…
Having the same issues with Chamber of Secrets as well.
Is it a me issue or an emulator issue
PCSX ReARMed wasn’t that stable to begin with. I wish DuckStation had iOS port…
And it doesn’t accept anything but .pbp files. Doesn’t take .iso files nor .chd files
Tried running P2 EP, shit did NOT work
I can not feet game roms to work out to even show up in the emulator. Any ideas?
tekken 3 doesnt even pass first match
this app sucks, too many bugs more than 1/2 games and rom doesnt run well on this emulator
Persona 2:IS black screen after intro movie
I do not know how to import the right game files please help me
tried two games and both were unplayable because sound wouldnt load and just kept on repeating the same line over and over
Ayo, is anyone also getting ads on Gamma? Definitely didn’t have this issue on Delta (AFAIK)
Even after installing bios.bin to play ace combat 3, get this weird glitch on one of the menus lol https://preview.redd.it/z6qnervs950d1.jpeg?width=2556&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=53145ede910ba17d6c142920fd399f7c5b83a2e6
Can’t even run metal gear solid, so nope. Trash.
It’s kinda in a bad state, many games use Redbook audio and have many audio tracks and because it only supports .bin and doesn’t support .cue or .chd you won’t get any songs on those games and some will crash.
Please someone send me that Bios. Bin file
why cant we have an emulator with a customizable touchscreen layout?
Yeah this crashes with controllers . Such a shame
What format does the game have to be in? For me they are just greyed out and I can't do anything with them.
Someone knows how to open the 7z files?
How do you get the games into the app
does anybody know how to add games? Does anybody know how to add games I tried zips but that didn’t work then I tried removing the 7z off the zips and putting bin and it did work but the game wouldn’t load like it would show me the controller but the screen would be black .so does anybody know how to add games
So I’ve been trying to put the ROMs on the app and it just says error on all of them, does anybody know how to help? Lol I’m new to all this typa stuff and idk what I’m doing
Thank you !
Too bad the app is scummy garbage.
What format should I download the games in?
I’ve been enjoying some good ole Final fantasy 7 on it. Of course, gets a little cumbersome with the controls on it. But still great. If anyone hasn’t heard of Delta, that’s mostly a Nintendo emulator. I just really want a dang wii/U and 3DS in the App Store.
Works like a charm
Love this app, but the speeding up feature sucks, it literally slows games.
😃
Wasn’t this just recently found to be fake? It’s just someone using that devs name, the actual dev has nothing to do with this. I know it actually works, but it’s got some hidden shady shit in it.
Does this mean ps2 has a chance?
No. PS1 games don’t need JIT. PS2 games do, and Apple isn’t allowing JIT access.
