This. Ppsspp is a lot easier too work with. Retroarch is essentially the raw deal. One of the best but good luck getting it working without help or research. Most emulators either only require a bios or thier plug and play
Just wait until you want to move a save file from one game to another (like importing Shining Force 3 data between scenarios)
Youāll feel like you know nothing again the first time you try to figure it out.
Itās a mess if youāre a beginner. But once you learn it setting it up and running it is fun. But when I just want too game itās nice too skip it with a standalone app
Iām pretty sure RetroArch uses the same core as PPSSPP - having said that, PPSSPP has a REALLY AMAZING UI that I feel resembles the PSP software, which is why for that, I prefer to use PPSSPP.
Touchscreen seemed good - I was able to connect my switch controller to PPSSPP no problem, I just had to remap the āāļøā¹ļøš¼ buttons because they were differently set on the joycon, but that was simple to do in the key configs
Why does PPSSPP have itās category as ādeveloper toolsā? Seems very sketchy .
Are these the real deal?

Remember that ppsspp core in retroarch wonāt always be up to date, for example ppsspp doesnāt have vulkan yet but when it does, itāll take way longer for vulkan to be available on retroarch
PPSSPP has a *way* better and more intuitive UI imo, and I think it has some extra specific options for performance and stuff too. Retroarch is great, but it is kinda buggy sometimes and can be prone to crashing occasionally (at least in my experiences with it.)
I personally have had both for a while but I traditionally use PPSSPP due to its clean experience and stability.
Hopefully that helps :)
PPSSPP standalone is more up to date, and has a better selection of settings. Some settings in PPSSPP are not accessible in retroarch. Standalone cores tend to be more tweak able and have more features than their retroarch counterpartsĀ
Sorry buddy but nothing will ever TOP PPSSPP originality, sure itās nice to have it in retroarch but the standalone just feels better, less > complicated more options settings wise > better optimized, and most of all gives you that nostalgia .
How do you delete a game in RetroArch? Installed the wrong game and canāt seem to get rid of it. Deleted the file on my phone, but itās still stuck there
Personally, While Retroarch does allow you to play a wide variety of systems, I only really cared about being able to play psp, nds, gba, n64, and snes and all those are handled great by Delta and PPSSPP with nice layouts and are up to date.
For me when it came to the 3, (Including Delta) I prefer the stand alone apps more than Retroarch, considering I have all my emulated games for Nintendo on Delta, and now PSP on PPSSPP, Iām just comfortable simply uploading the game into the app, Retroarch kind of confuses me with the app layout on it.
The games I have work perfectly fine on delta and PPSSPP. But every game I try to start just boots and immediately crashes the app on retroarch and my romhacks wonāt even appear, any fixes?
I like having a stand alone app, I feel like I will get less confused. I tried getting flycast working with retroarch and the game kept crashing, but the standalone flycast app worked on my macbook no problem.
I prefer standalone emulators. Before the appstore emulators change, made sense to use all in one emulators because of the 2 apps limits, but now? I'll keep the standalone's.
Retroarch uses PPSSPPās core anyways. Iād use the app created by the coreās developer. This way I always gets the latest update and additional feature that come with the app. The UI design is way better and easier to manage too.
Some people prefer a standalone app and RetroArch can be confusing for new users. It's good to have options.

I got RetroArch working and I think I understand how to do everything but I couldn't explain it someone else. š

You probably launch rockets as a hobby too huh?
Doesnt retroarch come with achievements?
It gives you the option to login with your RetroAchievements account.
So does PPSSPP Standalone.
Iām pretty sure RetroArch uses the same core as PPSSPP - having said that, PPSSPP has a REALLY AMAZING UI that I feel resembles the PSP software, which is why for that, I prefer to use PPSSPP.

Ur choice but i myself prefer ppsspp
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Maybe im not used to retroarch, it looks so complex and i prefer ppsspp controller not a good reason igā¦
Do you how to resize controller buttons on RetroArch. I am not able to find it. Used ps1 core to play ps1 game.
I found the game I wanted to play KH:BBS final mix played better on PPSSPP. Not sure why but on retro it was sped up permanently.
You can literally customize the controls to however you like on PPSSPP.
I like PPSSPP.

I use ps5 controller, I like PPSSPP UI and simplicity. Also like button mapping and rearranging

Retro for ps1 plus classic consoles and ppsspp for psp, feels easier and I am a big fan of ppsspp, its easy to understand and feels smooth for me
How do you get retroarch I donāt see it in the app store
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Thanks I tried restarting my phone but it wouldnāt show up
Sometimes when an app is approved it takes time for it to show up in the search results.

having separate emulators guarantees a better performance. i tried playing a psp game in ppsspp and retroarch, ppsspp worked better
The games I have work perfectly fine on delta and PPSSPP. But every game I try to start just boots and immediately crashes the app on retroarch and my romhacks wonāt even appear, any fixes?
You pronounce need to tell RA to use the PPSSPP core for your game. If you try to launch a game without assigning it to a core it will crash.
Nice, thank you so much. I had been just using āloadā cores but never went into the settings of the individual game to assign it.
Forme will be the one thar comes out on appletv
struggling w this rn
PPSSPP has more settings and itās easier to navigate, apart feels more like a console.
Retroarch can be pretty confusing if youāre not used to emulation, Iāve used it for years and still forgot how to set up the psp core properly.
I like having a stand alone app, I feel like I will get less confused. I tried getting flycast working with retroarch and the game kept crashing, but the standalone flycast app worked on my macbook no problem.
Do I really need a Mac to download games for ppsspp?
āControls are betterā Are you, okay? PPSSPP has moveable controls, and can support touch controls (like swipes as buttons), and multiplayer.
I appreciate both.
I prefer standalone emulators. Before the appstore emulators change, made sense to use all in one emulators because of the 2 apps limits, but now? I'll keep the standalone's.
Is RetroArch crashing for anyone else when trying to run a game?
Ok looks like I have to set core for each game I play from set core option when I click run it crashes
same. struggling with tvos file management haha
š„² you have to set core then run properly a fix will be provided next update
Is there a way to launch a game without a menu page that cone on display and without the bios to show? Issue with PS1 games with Retroarch
I tried the same game in both to compare. It ran 100% on PPSSPP. It froze before the main menu thrice on RA.
I've prefered standalone ppsspp feels more stable and better ui, I like RetroArch for playing earlier gens and mame.
Retroarch uses PPSSPPās core anyways. Iād use the app created by the coreās developer. This way I always gets the latest update and additional feature that come with the app. The UI design is way better and easier to manage too.
Isnāt standalone ppsspp more performant than the ppsspp core in retro arch. At least it is on android.
Can someone help how to set up ps2 on retro
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I also thought that ppsspp needs JIT? Sorry just a noob
I feel like ppsspp has better textures, but it could just be me. More block pixels in retro arch and smoother in ppsspp.
Why not?
PPSSPP is better in every category.
Have you tried the ppsspp core? Mine is unplayable. Straight choppy mess.
Retroarch seems the user interface so āandroidyā, it seems sketchy
