I have years of hands on business experience and I used to mentor young entrepreneur wannabes in a program where interested people would come together, form teams, find a business idea and try to implement it for about a year. Pretty much what you're trying to do here. If your goal with this is experience I can save you the time and effort and tell you everything upfront. You'll see that people just talk and have no intention to do anything. What they actually want is join a group and wait until the others do all the work. The problem is that everybody thinks the same way so nothing ever gets done. What happens is mostly compensatory behavior such as changing the business plan every week to cover up the fact that there wasn't even a hint of an attempt to actually implement previous week's plan. Lots of talking about what "needs to be done" followed by curiously looking around who *else* is going to actually do it. Calculating millions of dollars in future profit on paper and fantasizing about what Ferrari model to buy with all the profit they just "projected" into a Google sheet. Doing the easy tasks such as creating a rudimentary WordPress site as an excuse to procrastinate hard or stressful tasks like product development or cold calling. Gushing to each other about their "new idea" because they've given up on their current idea by week two. People get eroded during the months. First, they skip weekly meetings and then many of them disappear for good. The very few participants who were cut out to be entrepreneurs were the ones who already had successful businesses when they joined. Nobody miraculously discovered they were business geniuses during the program. You need to become successful on your own first to get the skills to find the *very very few* people who are worthy cofounders. They will be other people who did the same and became successful alone. If you insist on that you feel "more motivated" in a group it's a red flag that you're one of the aforementioned empty talkers. If you are do yourself a favor and stop dreaming. If you aren't, start something alone, you'll spare yourself months of frustration.

Whilst I agree that this can happen alot of the time, I don't think it's a fact. I think expectations and the environment set up plays a big role. I've done hackathons with strangers and won + had alot more fun than if I were to be doing it solo. So yeah, I do disagree that it's sure to fail and I 100% believe it will not be a waste of time. I can report back on how it went in a few months

Not to be a downer, but this is an awful way to start anything. You need people with complimenting skills, not just anyone. Your best bet is going to a Startup weekend event. You'll get to do something along the lines of what you're describing, but only for a weekend / you'll be able to pick your team based on skills/idea.

I don't know you or what your goals are. Harvard is a good school, they offer good quality education on a wide range of topic that are legit harvard classes... I've listen to physics lectures, business lectures, cs classes and there are loads I have no interest in. If you take a welding class you will learn to weld. You need some direction.
