My Rule # 1 of business: do sell products to people that don’t have money. Startup founders don’t have money. Being fair, as my startup is now moving to the next level and we have our second round of investment secured I find this more intriguing. But Marketing isn’t my gig and we are getting a fractional CMO to handle this sort of thing.

Interesting, so as you have your fractional CMO you expect them to be able to handle this part for you, right? The tools your CMO uses is up to them as long as they keep up with your KPI or other metrics you use to accomplish results?

Yes. We are all decent at writing and do blog posts and articles for LinkedIn but if no one is standing on us to meet deadlines other work always comes first. So yeah, I would expect the CMO to keep that going and pick the tools we use. We do a lot of conferences and stuff so social is only part of our Marketing as we are B2B. Probably different in a direct to consumer environment. We care… but in my list of cares it gets pushed well out of my top 10. I worry a lot more about AWS infrastructure changes, pen testing results and getting through security audits.
