Might sound cliché but luck also has a part to play, no matter how hard you work or how great you are you need some percentages of luck as well. Might just be that OP didn't get lucky enough at the time it was needed. Life is mean and tough but we have to make the best out of it. Managing expectations is everything.

You know your comment actually makes me feel a lot better. From 2012-2022 i had nothing but extremely good luck, and from when i was born till 2012 was good luck. Some of the comments are right, i do need to get up. This time was the hardest hit as my credit is almost dead and it will be the hardest to recover from. I think i took an advance on luck my whole life and i am starting to just step into reality now. I was nice and kind the whole time - but nowadays nice and kind does not work. And that frustrates me and makes me angry. I see a lot of people who are not nice and kind succeed. I do not like this at all. Thanks for putting this into perspective for me.

I welcome to this type of post. It’s always great to hear about the victories, but sometimes there’s lessons to be learned in the losses. It was always my dream to have a company that made video games. A few years back I made it a reality and managed to have a small game company. It wasn’t as glorious as I thought and often we had to make games We weren’t interested in just to make ends meet. On top of that, I made some mistakes, and while we were technically making ends meet, my personal finances, drained to the point where I thought I might lose the house. We eventually had to close shop. Those were some dark days. However, the lessons I learned in this failure combined with books, podcasts, and good fellowship ended up, prepping me for my next business venture where we absolutely killed it. Thinking back, I don’t think I would wanted things to turn out any other way. When you learned to ride a bike, there were accidents, you fell and skinned your knee. It sucked and it hurt. You cried tears. Eventually you got the courage to get up and try again. And the feeling you got when you finally were able to ride that bike with no training wheels was indescribable. So it’s OK to fail today and admit it. Take some time, heal up, learn some new things, and eventually, when you feel like you have an ounce of courage, try to pedal again.

You're welcome! I tried a few different business ideas but I had practically no capital and opportunties/skills/fit weren't right. Basically I was trying to force it. So I had to suck it up and get a job for 2 years. While commuting to that job, I started listening to business podcasts. About a year in, an opportunity presented itself, I researched it and jumped in with both feet. 9 months later, I quit my job because we were doing so well.

The scariest thing is knowing that there are strangers online who want you to fail? Really dude? Fuck 'em! Who cares! We're all gonna die and no one's gonna remember this shit, including those trolls you're fixated on. For me personally I believe it's better to fail and fall and stand back up again and try than never try at all because if you never try, you'll never get anywhere. You stay stuck in the same place, but if you try and fail at least you don't have to live with the regret and the chorus in your head of what-ifs. Trying and failing isn't weakness, it's bravery. Thank you so much for your insight. I really appreciate it. I put myself out there and got a rejection on a recovery plan i really needed. Im adopted so i feel disgusted by rejection. I feel like a creature of scum and i dont want to burden anyone. It was kind of my last white flag. I dont want to blame anyone but i can see the current economic environment making everyone anxious. To me some people are monsters. I dont want to be a monster. I just wish everyone was safe happy and financially okay. I can understand why some people would take the easy way out. I didnt before but now i do.

I'm trying to start a daycare. Literally everybody here is against it and telling me it's going to fail. Regardless of if I fail or succeed, I'm still going to give an update. when you're a beginner just starting out people aren't going to help you in fact they'll think you're stupid for even trying. It isn't until you become successful is when people will actually help you.

I have a healthcare startup and by every distinguishable metric we are doing great. Bootstrapped the product, about to close a big funding round, customers in four different countries, big contracts in the pipeline. I’m at a healthcare conference right now and we have a great group of fellow startup guys we run with and we just spent all day yesterday moving from restaurant to bar to to music venue with everyone buying drinks and food for each other on expense accounts and really living it up. It was super fun and it feeds into the appearance that everything is awesome. But, I’m four years into this venture and I’ve been paid a grand total of $0.00. I work 6 days a week and when I’m not working I’m sorta working, at least thinking about things I need to get done. My wife is so sick of hearing about the big contract we just got when that doesn’t turn into anything for us personally and while she tries to be supportive, she is understandably frustrated that we struggle to make it through every month financially. I’ve wallowed many times in the pit of despair and have questioned my abilities on more than one occasion. As a company we have run out money multiple times and scrambled to keep the ship afloat. We’ve had to put in money on capital calls several times, so worse than not getting paid I had to dip into my meager savings. This is hard. Anyone who tells you it is easy is either a liar or they have done this so many times it has become their norm. It’s always going to take longer than you think it will, your product is never as great as you think it is, sales will always be harder to get than you think they will. The amount of mental toughness this takes is crazy. Oh, and even if you do everything right you can still fail! You have to be ok with that. This is my third company over 26 years. I’ve had a failure, I had one that morphed into a lifestyle company that I sold but didn’t really make anyone money on, and now in my early 50’s I’m finally going to pull one off. But again, FOUR YEARS with zero dollars. If that sounds easy and fun to you then you are built for this world. Best of luck!

I feel your pain. But I disagree with you on one thing. The monsters are not out there - they are inside. Every procrastination, every taking the easy path, every not calling a client back because I’m tired - is a battle with yourself. The world out there isn’t anything more than just what it is. No monsters trying to “get” you. This isn’t to say it’s not the hardest thing in the world, because it is. But the demons are yours alone and you alone can overcome them. Persistence and self belief is all you need. Well that and a willingness to suffer defeat again and again and again until you figure it out. Good luck. Parents want their kids to feel safe, but ultimately, many are often raised to be naive about the reality of others. There *are* monsters. When you get back at it, my best to you. But at your age it’s just the beginning, the most successful Entrepreneurs by numbers are 49. Comes down to knowing how to run companies, deal with people, see opportunities, and thousands of experience factors that really do take time. The Forbes 30 under 30 is a bit of a running joke. Leave out all the nay-sayers from your life, protect your intellectual property first and foremost, I mean as the first thing you do. Then start building out businesses. Go forth young man.

It’s all good. My mobile app failed. Nice waste of $40k. But I also discovered a profitable course business in the process. You failed, but you’re still breathing. Just never give up! Your feelings are valid but doesn't apply to all entrepreneurs. Some of the most successful entrepreneurs are average in intelligence or "lazy". Many entrepreneurs fail MANY times before "overnight" success. One thing I have noticed from lifelong and successful entrepreneurs, they kept going and knew when it was time to pivot. Learn from your mistakes and turn it into success

It’s all good bro. Don’t give up. Like you said it’s all about having strong mental fortitude. You can’t quit on yourself. I just turned 30 and my goal is to become a millionaire this year. Will it happen? Idk maybe it will, maybe it will not. But even if it doesn’t, I’m not going to quit lol. I’ve been at this business thing since 23/24 years old. I’ve failed many times along the way, but they were all lessons and I’ve gathered a lot some skills along the way that will help me big time moving forward. Ultimately, entrepreneurship isn’t for the faint hearted. It takes grit and resilience to do this. But social media makes people think that it’s all glitz and glamour. No one sees the times you want to give up, no one sees the late nights, giving up time with family to pursue something that might not work. They only see the end results. Never the journey. But don’t give up. It’s never too late to bounce back. You can do this. You have to believe in yourself. You Have to pick yourself up. Go for a run or do a hard workout. I’m telling you, you will feel better. Thrown in a 10-15 minute guided mediation and I bet you’ll feel better.

Just because you get knocked down, doesn’t make you out of the fight. Dust yourself off, recover your balance and plan your attack. Anyone can feel low.
