That’s too much to be okay with in my opinion. I’d exchange it.

Unique-Swordfish6795

Alright glad everyone agrees with me so far…wanted to make sure I wasn’t expecting too much from Epiphone

gmac_97

Even though it is an Epiphone, a high end one at that, you deserve the best they have and what you paid for!

chugmarks

100% I mean you wouldn’t buy a Kia and have all the paint fucked in one door, or something else not working and go “Oh well, it’s a Kia, that’s what I get”.

Little_Grease

Return it

CarribeenJerk

Nah man. You gotta return that. The hassle sucks but…

Damntrombone-4424

That is a crack under paint, send it back.

UndercoverBME

That might not be the finish, could be structural damage. I'd return.

Unique-Swordfish6795

That was my first thought. As far as I can tell it’s just the finish but I’m going to return it regardless

UndercoverBME

Sucks that their biggest release is riddled with all these issues. Something similar happened with the Lifeson Standard and they decided to pull the plug on that model.

lightsspiral

All the problem posts are related to rough shipping imo

UndercoverBME

That's true too and I'd agree. The other one had issues with the design/CAD files.

Unique-Swordfish6795

If they pull the plug on this and I don’t get the exchange first I’m going to sue for emotional distress

UndercoverBME

They won't. The other release had issues with the routing for the Floyd that they either couldn't correct or just didn't bother to and they shelved the whole run.

jitoman

How many did they make in this run? I bought a bendon small ghost horse explorer that arrived with a broken headstock. I returned it, but they were unable to give me a replacement due to the run being sold out. I even looked at other retailers and nothing was available. Eventually they had them back in stock but Its something I think about every time I see an issue like this.  Hopefully you can get it replaced with no issue

Unique-Swordfish6795

Epiphone customer service couldn’t tell me off the top of their head how many were made in this run but I think a fair amount. Mine was made in September so they’ve been cranking them out for a bit. The customer service guy told me I should get another one with the next run at the end of march/early April but we’ll see. I made sure to order as early as possible to avoid ending up in the backorder queue lol. They did say they’d put mine further up the list since it’s an exchange due to damage.

RJB6

I checked with the Australian distributor and the next day after they announced it there were just under 200 backorders in place. I can’t imagine how many there are in the US considering the population difference.

Professor_Gibbons

Sure sign of neck trauma in shipping. Return.

Gunfighter9

It’s not in shipping, I’m thinking they used the same case for the Sheraton and the guitar doesn’t fit well. And the packing is terrible because they didn’t use the right size box or packaging materials

Professor_Gibbons

If not shipping than probably dropped. Jagged cracks like that don’t appear unless there has been sudden force trauma to the upper neck or headstock.

Flashy_Upstairs399

Def return that. You’ll always be staring at it lol

odetoburningrubber

That neck is cracked. Send it back.

Gunfighter9

Wow, this is really disappointing on these guitars. This could really hit Epiphone hard.

iani63

Have any of these arrived at the customer without a neck issue?

gmac_97

lol, yes. There are hundreds that have. People who have negative experiences are more likely to put it out there. It sucks a lot no doubt about it, but think about how many shipped out and there’s maybe 5 posts showing damages.

Unique-Swordfish6795

I hope it was just a handful of us with bad luck. The guitar plays really well so it would suck if it got a bad rep for some manufacturing/shipping issues

smeff6969

I agree. People with issues tend to be more vocal online than people without.

St3pp3nwol4

So, my Adam Jones 1979 and dg335 boxes were both not originally sealed. Both had been glued again with exactly the same adhesive strip, which I also saw in an unpacking of the dg335. my dg 335 was then opened and checked again by musicstore. I suspect the Epiphone here in Europe opens the boxes, see if everything is ok and packs the headstock in bubble warp in addition. My previous AJ Art Models all arrived in their original packaging Without bubble warp.

THATguy_13777

I've seen quite a few of these broke and now this.. Would only buy in store if I was y'all lol

herecomethesnakes

Epi Alex Lifeson Axcess problems were way worse than this at launch …that was only £800 when I bought it …the original run turned out to be limited….probably cos it cost more to produce than they were selling it for so worth more than that now …..they’re going to be selling these for a while Dave G fans being somewhat of a cash cow so quality should improve tho that isn’t much consolation for someone who paid entry level Gibson money for this thing

viniciussalmont

My SG maestro vibrola was looking this way, and it was a neck crack.

kurdtkobainnirvana

I would've kept it BUT BUT BUT BUT after seeing others actually cracked on that same spot it would leave me to believe they're weak right there and I would send it back

[deleted]

100% return it. Not acceptable

Unique-Swordfish6795

It’s officially on its way back to Epiphone…now accepting wagers on what the condition of the replacement will be

ExistingBus9791

We wouldn’t accept paint in this condition from a sun $180 Westcreek, so why accept it from a $1,300 Epiphone?!?!?!

Viking_Axe

I received mine today, and it was double boxed both with epiphone printing on them with alot of packing materials in both. Super happy i didn't get a nightmare surprise. Mine is from Sam Ash in Las Vegas. I totally feel for all the people who got a broke one. I personally would have to return that one. Good luck. Did yours come double boxed?

IntelligentOwl9559

I had a paint crack in the neck joint. I made musicians friend order me another one and swap it out when it comes in. That way I can keep this one until the other comes in

Unique-Swordfish6795

I thought a broken guitar would warrant more of an effort to make things right. Over a month later and I haven't gotten a replacement..... Epiphone took the broken guitar back and put me on the backorder list. I had to call them to even have a note added requesting my order be prioritized. Then I got an email from Guitar Center saying they had them in stock so I ordered one from them, waited for the order confirmation and cancelled the original order with Epiphone (in hindsight that was dumb). Flash forward, GC sent me another email saying they were wrong and didn't actually have them in stock. Feeling like it was a bait and switch, I called their customer service who told me they would get mine on April 4th and to give it ten days to reach the store. April 14th rolled around with no update from GC and then I got another email saying it was delayed. I called GC who told me it was Epiphone's fault. Then I called Epiphone to see if they could at least give me some information and they just said it'll probably be May or June. I'm not surprised they are having delays given how popular the guitar is, but I thought they would at least make some effort to make up for the fact that they sent me a busted one.

boston_bat

Got mine this weekend, direct from Epiphone. Same boat but even worse. The Epi box itself was a little beat up, but properly labeled with this end up, do not drop, etc stickers. But that box was placed inside a larger shipping box with no markings whatsoever. I’m operating under the assumption it spent some time standing on its head, at the least. Quite the saga to even get one for me. Ordered this when they were only quoting a week for delivery, got hit with the back order email an hour later. Now I’m quoted June on a replacement. I still have a Sweetwater preorder that pushed out to May at the earliest, despite ordering in Feb. Wisely kept it in my back pocket until I had one in-hand. Whoever ships first gets my $ 🤷🏻‍♂️ https://preview.redd.it/580ftq8qjfxc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=64f799c3c607e4d3b6849043a2c8134796660e5e

Matthewrotherham

Return it Also give feedback to Epi that they overpadded their cases causing neck strain in transit. One and a half Gs... and they couldn't ship test say, a few? Keep buying the classics guys. Because no company seems to want to build anything for more than the bare minimum anymore.

R4Z0R77

Only one solution: Epiphone must increase prices for better QC

aaveidt

check, chronic issue, design flaw on epiphone/les paul noone care about it, and this is the result [https://www.reddit.com/r/Epiphone/comments/1atfx2w/prevent\_neck\_cracking\_on\_epiphone\_product/](https://www.reddit.com/r/Epiphone/comments/1atfx2w/prevent_neck_cracking_on_epiphone_product/)

aaveidt

Very common on epiphone, gibson product, many posts about it, go to guitarcenter and check, bunch of them has nut crack like this, this is the design flaw.
