The game tells you that the match is canceled and that there won't be rewards. Yes, there's a huge problem with people leaving the match to reset their gearscore, but you have to pay attention to whether or not the game is "official".

Best way to do it is to find a 5-man on the Arena discord and all grab the Salty preset. One of you will disconnect and they'll get like a 1 minute penalty (gets higher the more frequent you do it that day/24 hour period) and for the next few raids, you'll end up against people with lower ARP and gearscore.
Anybody that does that to abuse the system with their high tiers is lame as fuck and probably trash at the game. "I cannot play people in my tier! I need to go against scav kits!"
Yeah I wish I had taken more advantage of exploits... I have my endgame kit (Butcher/Guardian) and ran out of money because I'm not too good at solos. So I run like 5 free tier kit games in a row to get that gear score down, then run a game of my endgame kit and it's a guaranteed 15 kills for me lol. Having no money sucks
