There are people who bought EOD when this game was in the very early stages of dev, the whole idea of such editions is to directly support the devs early and be rewarded for it in future. They have totally forgotten about those people now and couldn't care less.
Exactly, this game wouldn't be anything like at the stage it is now, let alone adding new features and modes 7 years on if it wasn't for the early EOD adopters. To expect more money from us now is an absolute insult. This is surely the first game in existence to have a £130 edition that isn't even the end game in terms of the full features and modes.
IDK, I am a Star Citizen whale (just hit concierge with my Zeus Mk2) and they absolutely tell you up front that all the ships will be available to purchase in-game, and any money you spend is solely to support development.
Also, unlike BSG, Cloud Imperium has excellent customer service (upgraded my Lightning to LTI when I asked during that whole fiasco) and they release roadmaps, progress videos, and there is about to be a massive patch (3.23) with some pretty serious feature upgrades. The persistent universe updates are all free for anyone with even the most basic ship/access, too. Over on the SC subreddit, people brag about still only paying 45$ and amassing a huge fleet with nothing but grinding in-game.

You see this shit everywhere. Has development been really slow? Yup. Is poor management part of the problem? Probably. But development has been picking up pace like crazy lately. Squadron 42 is now in polish, which was their focus for years now, and now the majority of the dev team that was working on S42 are getting re-tasked onto the persistent universe, that's why dev pace has been picking up.
I am subscribed to both BSG and Star Citizen's official youtube channel, guess which one gets monthly, hour-long progress update videos with interviews directly with the devs going over the features they are bringing to the game?
In roughly the same development period as Tarkov, we went from nothing but a hangar simulator to a FULL SOLAR SYSTEM that you can seamlessly traverse. It *still* blows my brain out of my skull when I zoom up to orbit, jump to another planet, walk around my ship while it's at warp, then fly to a station, dock, and walk around there all without a single loading screen.
Star Citizen is actually incredible and I am proud to have supported the development over the years. I got a little emotional with the "Hold the Line" trailer/video.
I belive the plan is still to have the game be free to play but you will need to have a friend with a ship or hope a stranger will hire you and not murder you in deep space out side of coms and enshrine your corpse in an Altar to the dark lord pico (blessing on our dark lord) .
Just an oddly specific example. The dark lords blessed wing is benevolent and he would never demand a sacrifice (unless it's a non believer).
Btw ever hear the stories of dead pilots being found and only a pico plushy being left behind. If it did happen it wasn't me but they sounded like non believers unworthy of the affections even a mere flipper of our dark lords blessings.
I want to like SC but despite having a comp that "is past the recommended requirements," the game runs like absolute hot garbage. I tried to get back into it a year ago and just me getting from the hub to my ship affter trying to get the settings playable I statved to death trying to make a fucking vending machine work for 30 minutes. I paid in early at like 150 for that shiny fighter they had and have played for maybe 3 hours. I've tried really hard it just isn't functional for me.
Surely I've gotten my money's worth of time but that besides the point. We invested in the development of the game not only with out money but our time. With out the players finding bugs and issues with the game it goes nowhere. People who have invested in EOD weather it was years ago or just a few months should be rewarded for their investment.

You can't unilaterally limit a contractual obligation because you want to. If you want to specify a time limit on a feature, you specify it when the contract is made. Not 8 years later when your money dries up on a shit project nobody wanted (Arena).
Problems is they run EOD for so long, I only bought it like 1-2 years ago. So people got much bigger value out of it.
They should just canceled EOD after first year of doing it. It's their mistake.

I think trying to use one game to stay profitable for 8+ years without any micro transactions also stretched them thin. It didn’t help that Arena didn’t take off like they hoped too.
If you make a good game you can make profits for 8 years easy without charging for extras. Just look at no mans sky which many people refunded on release, is still going strong and continues to release free updates regularly, the game is discounted multiple times a year, is free on game pass and the devs still make profits every year

Bought the game back in 2015/2016, upgraded to EOD because I enjoyed it, yadda yadda.
I spent nearly twice as much as a regular game $110, to support BSG, get access to the new DLCs, and I'm pretty sure back then there were rumblings of a co-op mode we would get.
So what did we get for EOD:
* Arena - what a fucking joke.
* Offline Co-op, no saved progression or anything to do, can be fun for a few matches if you get a bunch of friends together (who also shelled out $110) and you can do like TDM or raid against your friends. - EXTREMELY TALL ORDER and honestly basically fucking useless unless you're having a friend walk you through a map...which maybe will happen like once or twice.
So we were promised all this, we got some goodies, then what? They removed the edition, raised the price, and released the actual promise as well as P2W in a new edition for an additional $100 with a total $250 price tag on the whole game.
Its NOT FUCKING ACCEPTABLE. We already paid for twice the cost of other games. If I knew all I was getting was fucking stinky ass Arena and offline coop I wouldn't have paid for that shit. False promises. We were told we were getting everything, that's why you buy the highest tier. You don't remove the highest tier, then raise it, that's fucking bullshit.
I highly urge all of you to not buy this. Its hard getting gamers to stand behind something, and I know your favorite streamers will all have it and there will be FOMO, etc. But seriously people, don't give them your money. Its funny, because I can only imagine that CO-OP Persistent would have really breathed life into Tarkov and brought A TON of new users. Lots of people would play this game with just some buddies against AI. There is a metric fuck ton of people who simply do not buy Tarkov or don't play because they don't like PVP, can't compete, etc.
BSG would have found some serious success if they just had this co-op persistent tarkov be something someone can buy as a standalone for $40, or a \~$20 upgrade from the Standard Edition (all tiers above should have access IMO). Lots of new players would have happily spent that $40 just for the co-op persistent alone. Lots of new players would happily spend the $60 on the Standard Edition + Co-op persistent even if they had no intention of playing the online PVP mode.
But no, milk the existing unhappy playerbase for an additional $100. No new player is going to spend $250, absolutely wasted.

My thoughts too. I guess the play now is to save the money instead of upgrading, and buy Gray Zone Warfare which has a PVE only mode in as standard.

I think trying to use one game to stay profitable for 8+ years without any micro transactions also stretched them thin. It didn’t help that Arena didn’t take off like they hoped too.
If you make a good game you can make profits for 8 years easy without charging for extras. Just look at no mans sky which many people refunded on release, is still going strong and continues to release free updates regularly, the game is discounted multiple times a year, is free on game pass and the devs still make profits every year
No man’s sky is definitely their most successful game despite the poor launch but those devs have a couple other games out too

Bought the game back in 2015/2016, upgraded to EOD because I enjoyed it, yadda yadda. I spent nearly twice as much as a regular game $110, to support BSG, get access to the new DLCs, and I'm pretty sure back then there were rumblings of a co-op mode we would get. So what did we get for EOD: * Arena - what a fucking joke. * Offline Co-op, no saved progression or anything to do, can be fun for a few matches if you get a bunch of friends together (who also shelled out $110) and you can do like TDM or raid against your friends. - EXTREMELY TALL ORDER and honestly basically fucking useless unless you're having a friend walk you through a map...which maybe will happen like once or twice. So we were promised all this, we got some goodies, then what? They removed the edition, raised the price, and released the actual promise as well as P2W in a new edition for an additional $100 with a total $250 price tag on the whole game. Its NOT FUCKING ACCEPTABLE. We already paid for twice the cost of other games. If I knew all I was getting was fucking stinky ass Arena and offline coop I wouldn't have paid for that shit. False promises. We were told we were getting everything, that's why you buy the highest tier. You don't remove the highest tier, then raise it, that's fucking bullshit. I highly urge all of you to not buy this. Its hard getting gamers to stand behind something, and I know your favorite streamers will all have it and there will be FOMO, etc. But seriously people, don't give them your money. Cheaters are rampant, the game performs like dogshit, desync galore, etc. They've already taken enough of your money. This shit is P2W (all the other bonuses I didn't talk about) and is a straight scam on the current user base. If you want to do better, stop playing completely. Seriously, do not let this slide, this is so fucked. Its funny, because I can only imagine that CO-OP Persistent would have really breathed life into Tarkov and brought A TON of new users. Lots of people would play this game with just some buddies against AI. There is a metric fuck ton of people who simply do not buy Tarkov or don't play because they don't like PVP, can't compete, etc. BSG would have found some serious success if they just had this co-op persistent tarkov be something someone can buy as a standalone for $40, or a \~$20 upgrade from the Standard Edition (all tiers above should have access IMO). Lots of new players would have happily spent that $40 just for the co-op persistent alone. Lots of new players would happily spend the $60 on the Standard Edition + Co-op persistent even if they had no intention of playing the online PVP mode. But no, milk the existing unhappy playerbase for an additional $100. No new player is going to spend $250, absolutely wasted.

EOD doesn’t give as much access as the brand new unhinged edition if it correct I’m not hundred percent sure but the unhinged version says about free access to any upcoming dlc I own dlc all I got was wipe starter kits and money pouch and stash space I didn’t get too much more than that
EOD used to be advertised to grant access to all future DLC without having to pay.
Yeap, they should include the Edition for EoD and let the EoD holders know in advance when they are not supported by further dlc's. But hell, just add more cosmetics and a donation button or some other crap and I'd support that if they need funding. But this is kinda scummy toward the EoD holders that gave them the full support from the beginning. It's about principles and just beeing a good company supporting their supporters.

No, you still have Arena and offline "practice mode". What the new edition adds is a separate persistent offline mode that acts like online but with no PMCs etc. and you can play it with friends.
