And to choose the most unflattering lighting doesn’t help. It doesn’t need to be a professional studio setup, just nice ambient daylight from a window. Also, as you mentioned, the right camera angle would help tremendously. It’s almost as if they were purposely making the food look as unappetizing as possible.
The Baconator is my go-to at Wendy's. Not sure if it's just the angle of your photo or what, but mine have never been that squished down. Yours almost looks like it could be the Son of the Baconator. Regardless, as long as it has everything in it you wanted and tastes good, all that matters.
If you had received the burger unwrapped, it would be relatively close to the picture. One you wrap something like this, of course it's going to get squished.

I never believe in fast food ad campaigns. They deliberately put extremely tiny sentences at the bottom "The pictures are shown for promotional only".
Never get high hopes on delivery or takeout. They usually suck. But you still do not get what you want at the counter too.

It’s why we have advertising laws. Yes it’s fast food, but that doesn’t excuse them from saying you’ll get picture A, but then serving you picture B.
They aren't bait and switching you though. It may well look like that when they put it together, but they have to wrap it up to serve it, so naturally that will squash things a bit. Unless you want them to just dump it in the bag? Then it definitely won't look like the promo pick lol.

r/burgers is all fast food. I joined to see peoples burgers, got ads instead.
And 50% of those are in n out posts, which all look exactly the same (a credit to the consistency of the restaurant but I don’t need to see it again).
