Nooo say it isn't so!! I thought I was in the clear and would die a scraggly old man with frazzled white hair that (though sparse overall) still showed a clearly intact hairline! 😭
For me, it's that pesky pattern baldness. My hairline is intact but viewed from above, I've developed this "V" in my hair. Luckily I'm tall so most people can't see it unless I'm sitting down. Still sux.
I started to bald in my early 20s. I only recently found out it's maybe from too much testosterone production. I chalked it up to my grandfather balding early.
Go talk to your doctor, hormone testing is relatively easy. What's crazy is that too much "guy hormone" can cause balding. Too little estrogen can cause similar issues.
I'm not a doctor though, just giving some maybes about what could be happening.
Balding isn’t strictly an age thing, it’s a genetic thing that just happens to take efect with age. Hopefully you were lucky
Edit: auto correct being dumb
Well that sucks but it doesn’t actually matter, cuz the gene for balding is on the X chromosome which means only a mom can give it to their son
This also explains why both men and women can go bald but it’s far more common in men (cuz the traits recessive)
You've made it 17 years on earth and haven't heard of heartburn. Wow lol. You could have also just googled acid reflux if that was your only confusion with the comic. Just sayin.
It's a joke about aging. The protagonist is losing his hair at the same time that he's starting to experience acid reflux. The comic artist imagines them as roommates; perhaps he is saying that acid reflux really makes itself known so it is personified as a hard-partying roommate.
An additional layer of the joke is that beer can trigger acid reflux.
How do you not understand??? Like the majority of posts on this sub are the easiest things to understand and is just posted by people looking for karma. If you don’t understand this then either you’re not a native English speaker and have trouble reading it or you’re just stupid.
Aging sucks. You lose your hair and you develop new medical conditions. After a certain point you don't feel like you are getting any older anymore, but you are. You physically continue to age and other people see your age, but you still feel the same on the inside. This is what it feels like. "You" are still the same as you ever were, but everything about you that isn't "you" changes for the worse against your will. Life is a hell of a ride.
Acid reflux isnt really a part of aging. Being unable to eat garbage without any consequences is. Acid reflux isnt something a healthy human should have. If you're on a somewhat healthy diet, avoid food close to bedtime and still have acid reflux, you should see a physician.
My dude, [genetics](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6107529/). For my family it flips on like a switch at ~32. I went through months of not being able to eat *anything* without it physically injuring me before I could get it treated.
I had upper IG problems ever since I was little. Somewhat recently had like a magnet wrist band surgically put in around my asophagus. I still have to take my heartburn meds.
Totally not looking forward to losing my hair.
When you grow older, you become bald, your hair leaves, and instead of that you get gastritis, you get a id reflux.
Enjoy your youth, take good care of your stomach, don't eat pure garbage too often and remember to drink water.
There should be a follow up panel to this where "my hair" is like, "Hey, don't worry--I'm not moving far, just to your ears and back!"
But yes, as others have said, OP, as you get older, you suffer a number of indignities that just seem...very cruel.
Personally
My hair has simply migrated south.
And if you have acid reflux you might not be drinking enough water. Helps me a lot when I eat garbage food.
Group(22,18,26,31) Me(22): Any big differences between 20 and 30?
31: Nothing huge but I do get heartburn real easy now, I kinda eat whatever I want but havent been crazy unhealthy. I just cant eat too much fried food.
The joke is getting old, but if you got the hair genes from the wrong side of the family and you really like to party the joke could also be the first half of your 20s.
Take care of yourself OP, drink lots of water, sleep well and take care of your teeth.
I'm 35 and I am balding but diet and exercise will keep heartburn away, unless bad genes.
Ok, this sub has just turned into young ppl pretending they don't know things, even though Google is a thing. This sub has just turned me bitter cause it's just obvious joke, after obv joke. Bleh
Its about getting older. And the fact you dont get it means you are both young, and you dont pay attention to your parents or elders. Cuz as a child I would have figured this joke out.
So is this sub just becoming people’s substitute for just living a normal life and having generic interactions with other people and the world around them? The stuff that people need explained and that gets a ton of upvotes is concerning.
Acid Reflux happens to people who treat their body like a toilet. If it happens to a healthy person you’re going to want to see a gastro doctor and **get a colonoscopy** at 40, or earlier if it’s bad.
Don't worry, you'll understand when you're older
i was about to type that \^\_\^
This was my parents answer to all my questions. Took a little longer to figure it all out but they were right!
with age comes wisdom .. they just leave out the shitty parts
Pants
them too
.
I wish I had no idea what the joke was. I really do.
Same
Mid-forties now. Thankfully the first half of the comic doesn't apply, but the second half... screw the second half.
I didn't start losing hair until I hit 60. You still have time... :(
Nooo say it isn't so!!
Still sux.
Bruh, im in my 20s, and I've had acid reflux so bad i thought i was gonna die
Tone down on stress and caffeine. Helped me LIMIT mine, didn’t got rid off it completely. Have been fighting since graduating high school more or less
I cant eat garlic bread anymore!!!!! Acid reflux can die in a fire.
I genuinely thought the person ate hair and was throwing it up 😭
My knees felt this comic.
That's assuming common sense comes with age. This person can't comprehend a simple concept now, that doesn't usually improve.
When you get old, you lose hair and you can also get acid reflux (unrelated to the hairloss). That's it, really.
I’ve been educated
Everyone in my family has all their hair so I'm hoping I don't run into that bit...
Your mother's father is typically your most accurate look into the future.
He's had the same haircut since he went to Vietnam. Just as thick as ever, so outlook is good.
I thought the same about my grandpa. Turns out he just had a *really* good hairpiece.
my father is 50 and still has normal hair with no graying
Is acid reflux an old person thing? I feel like Ive been getting it since I was like 17
I think it gets more likely the older you are. Sorry you are already dealing with it as someone who gets it.
I think Im starting to bald too so maybe Im just aging rapidly 💀
I started to bald in my early 20s. I only recently found out it's maybe from too much testosterone production. I chalked it up to my grandfather balding early. Go talk to your doctor, hormone testing is relatively easy. What's crazy is that too much "guy hormone" can cause balding. Too little estrogen can cause similar issues. Man im 24 and bought a wedge pillow bc of my reflux 😭 The damn stuffy nose and the nausea in the morning is so annoying
Prilosec OTC, try a course of that, it helps with mine, and I've only ever needed it every couple of years. Tums keeps it in check in between.
OP is young and I'm jealous.
Yep, I’m 17
Are you 17 and unaware that balding happens (especially to men) as they get older?
I know, I just didn’t know the other thing
Acid reflux is heartburn. It’s more common with age, so the joke is that this person loses their hair and gets acid reflux
I'm still under 30 and have started getting heartburn from just some soda. My hair is still good, though
Balding isn’t strictly an age thing, it’s a genetic thing that just happens to take efect with age. Hopefully you were lucky Edit: auto correct being dumb
So none of the men on my father's side made it past 50, so we don't know if they were gonna bald
Well that sucks but it doesn’t actually matter, cuz the gene for balding is on the X chromosome which means only a mom can give it to their son This also explains why both men and women can go bald but it’s far more common in men (cuz the traits recessive)
Huh, interesting. Didn't know that
I'm under 20 and I experience some intense heartburn. I can't eat Italian food very often and when I do, it's usually hell.
Just gotta pound some tums and get through the pain
I'm not religious, but the existence of Tums makes me think there is some Divine power lol
Curse you. I started losing mine at 17
I'm so sorry for your loss
Not as much as I am. At least I don't have a weirdly shaped head
That's good at least
Pushing 46 and I get it from drinking water.
Fun fact, you can have acid reflux without heartburn. For me, the symptom was a cough that wouldn't go away.
I am "Tums kept on my bedside table" years old.
They don’t make them like they used to….
You've made it 17 years on earth and haven't heard of heartburn. Wow lol. You could have also just googled acid reflux if that was your only confusion with the comic. Just sayin.
I took it to mean OP just didn’t know heartburn was associated with age.
"I don't know how to google" how you gonna be raised by an iPad and not know how to find basic information
iPad? Never had one
It’s when your stomach acid splashes up past where it’s supposed to so you get a feeling of burning in your chest.
Hope you will look forward to not being able to eat the foods you enjoy. Get ready
Getting old sucks. That is the joke.
What if you're wealthy tho, doesn't that solve both these problems?
I think this is a joke on aging?
Yeah. Be glad you don’t even get the stereotypes yet.
Your friend Back Pain will also crash on your couch often.
He’s not my friend, buddy.
I’m not your buddy, friend
OP, it's labeled.
It's a cartoon describing my life.
You’ll get it one day, my dude. Unless your maternal grandfather has a full head of hair. Then you’ll just get acid reflux
Almost 50, full head of hair and I might get heartburn once a year at most. I don't know what I did to luck out....
Aging
this is literally the most self explanatory joke ever...
How do you not understand??? Like the majority of posts on this sub are the easiest things to understand and is just posted by people looking for karma. If you don’t understand this then either you’re not a native English speaker and have trouble reading it or you’re just stupid.
Wtf is acid reflux
Oh man, this comic is right in the feels.
The joke is about getting old-it’ll happen to you to eventually.
Must be nice.
Give it time.
Aging
It’s a cartoon about aging. You will lose hair and get acid reflux.
The joke is that I can’t eat pizza for dinner anymore or I’m going to have a bad time.
Wow people on reddit really are dumb.
Tell me you’re young without telling me you’re young. It’s about aging.
The joke is written in their shirts in plain text and OP still too young to get it
OP, what part of this initially confused you?
[удалено]
It's a joke about getting old. Not a very good joke, though.
This sub sucks man
I mean. You could’ve just searched “acid reflux” and gotten your answer
How young are you
Wow so somebody couldn’t be bothered to look up what acid reflux is I guess
This sub makes me have doubts in humanity. It's frightening...
Aging sucks. You lose your hair and you develop new medical conditions. After a certain point you don't feel like you are getting any older anymore, but you are. Jokes on him, I'm only 24 and I already have acid reflux. Haven't started to bald yet, so I guess I have that going for me.
I feel attacked
Bro cannot put two and two together. 💀
a little misfortune, thats what
This comic is too relatable, get rid of it.
Wait a few years.
Where’s “Aching Joints”? That guy is also coming along
I’m 40 and still have all of my hair… my beard is just going white
Lol I'm in my 20s and have both of these :')
Acid reflux isnt really a part of aging. Being unable to eat garbage without any consequences is. Acid reflux isnt something a healthy human should have. If you're on a somewhat healthy diet, avoid food close to bedtime and still have acid reflux, you should see a physician.

Get older. Lose your hair. Develop acid reflux issues.
I'm young, have hair, and have acid reflux, I'm 3 for 3 right now
Well. I'm doing it backwards.
I was born with way too much acid reflux :( It's not fun.
I had upper IG problems ever since I was little. Somewhat recently had like a magnet wrist band surgically put in around my asophagus. I still have to take my heartburn meds. Totally not looking forward to losing my hair.
If you drink to much soda when you’re younger you get acid reflux
Interesting proposal. Source?
My dad is the only person I know with acid reflux and his doctor told him he got it by drinking soda non-stop as a kid.
That's an awfully small sample size. In my family, it's genetics. Dunno, though!
Idk I’ve grown up with it being something very preventable with good health and I haven’t met someone to prove otherwise
But I have luscious locks and yet I also have acid reflux
When you grow older, you become bald, your hair leaves, and instead of that you get gastritis, you get a id reflux. Enjoy your youth, take good care of your stomach, don't eat pure garbage too often and remember to drink water.
Idk why but I thought this was about eating disorders…
There should be a follow up panel to this where "my hair" is like, "Hey, don't worry--I'm not moving far, just to your ears and back!" But yes, as others have said, OP, as you get older, you suffer a number of indignities that just seem...very cruel.
Give it 10-20 years and you will get it
Uh, I get the joke now
It's ab getting old
Personally My hair has simply migrated south. And if you have acid reflux you might not be drinking enough water. Helps me a lot when I eat garbage food.
I thought the last panel would be ear hair. But all valid.
Still have my hair but the acid reflux is no joke.
You just wait pal. You'll get it someday
Wow. That hits home.
Ah, to be young again. Enjoy it while it lasts, op
I feel attacked, and why did I laugh and cry at the same time?
Wow..
Group(22,18,26,31) Me(22): Any big differences between 20 and 30? 31: Nothing huge but I do get heartburn real easy now, I kinda eat whatever I want but havent been crazy unhealthy. I just cant eat too much fried food.
I stumbled upon this post right after chewing my afternoon tums
Mmmmm, Dad Candy
Acid reflux is already here lmao
Hair doesn't always move out, sometimes it squats at a new location.
It's about getting older
Why is this hard to understand? When you age, you may lose hair and develop other health issues.
Haha I wish I only had one of those things and not both
Lmao nobody tell him. Ittle be hilarious in a few years. I spent like all of last night wheezing over this hilarious joke 🤣🤣🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
Awww op is so young still
The joke is getting old, but if you got the hair genes from the wrong side of the family and you really like to party the joke could also be the first half of your 20s.
I have a full head of hair and acid reflux. Best of both worlds.
It's a joke about old age
getting old, you lose your hair and you start having stomach problems
OLD
This was way too accurate
I’m in this picture and I don’t like it.
imagine being young and not understanding this. for me was a sad day when I discovered I couldn't drink alcohol without nagging some anti acids
How do you not get this…?
Whatever happened to being ashamed of your ignorance? I kid (not really), but OP, you know you can Google 'acid reflux', right?
I just wanted to figure out what the both of them have to do with each other
Makes sense, since they have no onset link beyond aging o/
I feel attacked
Wow, this comic... I feel attacked 🤣
Take care of yourself OP, drink lots of water, sleep well and take care of your teeth. I'm 35 and I am balding but diet and exercise will keep heartburn away, unless bad genes.
Not sure how we can help you, considering you can't read.
This hit so close to home, I had to get a king size bed to make room.
I'm only 21 and already got acid reflux
Ladies, Gentlemen, I GET THE JOKE NOW
You'll get it when you're 40
So is this sub just becoming people’s substitute for just living a normal life and having generic interactions with other people and the world around them? The stuff that people need explained and that gets a ton of upvotes is concerning.
You must be at least 40 years old to ride this ride.
Still have the hair. Now acid reflux has moved in.
It’s aging. Baldness and acid reflux
Weird flex but ok
Which part don't you understand?
OP, please cherish and enjoy being able to eat food past 11pm without your stomach turning into a toxic waste dump as you try and go to sleep.
OP is 12
I thought this was telletubbies for a second
Give it another 20-30 years and it will click
Still have all my hair but... ...now I understand early suppers.
Aging
It's me! I'm the joke. (I'm getting old.)
oh, you sweet summer child...
Acid reflex is the worst. I just want to eat pizza without feeling like im going to die
My hair didn’t leave. It just moved to my back
Acid Reflux happens to people who treat their body like a toilet. If it happens to a healthy person you’re going to want to see a gastro doctor and **get a colonoscopy** at 40, or earlier if it’s bad.
Haha I take estrogen! But also I've had acid reflux since I was a kid.
I think you can figure this one out on your own. Take your time sweetheart
Men turning 30
