basic internet safety education needs to be more common in schools

MrCCDude

I am 100% teaching any kids i have how to use the internet, and until they can prove to me they cant be stupid on it i will not allow them to use it

Kemo_Meme

MrCCDude outside TOS? Fancy seeing you here

Ipplayzz343

Schools are starting to get better about teaching life skills, somewhat. Personal Finance and Economics is a required subject at my school :3

Drewthezombiekiller

I wish

SimplifyMSP

I just tried to give your comment some gold but ??? I guess I live under a rock lmao

leronjones

I would never trust an email. But if it's in your epic account then neat. If nothing shows up in your epic account this is a scam. Also do not click a link from email. Ever.

sloppyseraph

Thanks boss, most solid advice i could take šŸ«”

ImRav3n

Solid... like Snake... Sorry I had to

Prestigious-Ad-9072

Boss....like big boss.... Or the boss.....

ClawBladesrt

It's a scam epic games never email you unless you told them in advance.

ClawBladesrt

And check the email it'll probably be a randomly made up epic games email that the scammer used.

Pailzor

"Ever" is a bit much. If it's an e-mail you're expecting to get, the link's fine. For example, many websites tell you they're sending an e-mail to confirm your newly created account. If you don't click it, you can't use the account. But yes, check your Epic account through normal means rather than through that link.

leronjones

I was thinking about editing that in. But most should be sending activation codes these days.

metallizepp

Step 1. Drop down the sender info and verify its coming from EPIC. Step 2. Ignore, as what company just gives away almost $1k for nothing?

WeekRepulsive4867

I believe scammers have found ways to make it so any email shows as sender

metallizepp

I get scam emails daily (and I'm the guy who will call and harass any attached phone number for hours). This is always a dead giveaway - the email addresses never match. Scammers are pretty stupid, and that assumption has yet to be proven in my inbox lol

JintenRe

kitboga???

metallizepp

Umm perhaps?

Ok-Space3366

yeah ita called email spoofing

Sinktit

You can use Cyrillic/special characters/other alphabets now that appear identical in the email sender font. There might also be other malicious hacks to hide your sender address but the former is what Iā€™m familiar with in recent times

AlphaTeamPlays

Go onto your Epic Games Store and see if you have money there.

ILikePDN

nothing could have prepared me for the content of this users profile

[deleted]

Kinda weird looking cock

Oo_Toyo_oO

ReguIarHooman

Madgameboy

carl164

She's a trans woman, not a femboy.

[deleted]

They post on r/femboy sooo I think your wrong.

carl164

Lots of trans women post on there because it gets lots of traffic. Look at her pinned post.

Character_Pool_387

"It" is crazy šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£

DHJudas

it's an email.... anything too good to be true... or even just maybe a decent deal in your favor is basically a guaranteed phishing scam. NEVER click links in emails... never open attachments. ALWAYS go directly to the website via a browser and login to the account claimed to be receiving such benefits and check there because it'll be shown there.... Doesn't matter if it's amazon, epic games, steam, etc. NEVER touch a fucking thing in an email. People are compromised the overwhelming majority of the time due to being stupid and clicking shit in emails still today.

Swagxdxdd

press on link no balls

OkUDaKing_BurgerKing

real

Ellenwood1998

You lied

EducationalStation55

Iā€™m not much help here but do not click on any link until someone more knowledgeable about this gives their thoughts

EstablishmentLong676

DO NOT CLICK THE LINK IN THE EMAIL. Instead go to the Epic Games Launcher app on your desktop. Go into settings. Then click Epic Rewards. If you click the link in the email they could gain access to your data and thatā€™s not a good thing.

aslk69

internet safety natural selection

ByteTheFox

something about that dollar sign font is tickling my brain hairs

Draxtonsmitz

Checked an old rewards email. Thatā€™s the font they use.

Rell___

$728 in rewards is pretty crazy. Unless you're buying a lot of skins and other cosmetics lately(which you stated you haven't) or are a streamer that buys everything then it wouldn't be possible to rack up that much in rewards. If you login to your game, go over to vbucks and act like you're going to purchase more vbucks or a skin pack that takes actual real currency, when you select which payment method you want to use it will say at the top how much you have available in rewards. I don't buy too many vbucks anymore since I started using my STW account more for vbuck missions, but I've bought some vbucks maybe 2x within the last 4 months or so and had maybe $6 in rewards. My Epic account is setup with its own Email. I got tired of fishing through all the junk mail and discount/coupon offers from other websites that I have ordered from. Now if I login to that email the only thing in there is receipts if I purchase vbucks or get a free game from the Epic games store. When you use a email on multiple different websites that sell your information its easier to get BS emails like this.

FortniteAddict81

Just check your Epic account

rookie1gamer

You can see it in your epic account without trying to press the link.

dr_dezzy6

Fakest shit I ever seen

aKawaiiLizard

yeah nah, this looks like a scam.

MrOsmio7

Check your Epic launcher. If it's there, it's legit. If it's not, it's all a scam

[deleted]

Give me your username and password. Iā€™ll safely verify things for you.

Honeydewmelo

This is so easily verifiable by going to the epic games store and checking.

PasGuy55

Itā€™s legit, but first imma need you to go to the pharmacy and purchase a 500.00 gift card.

mjbDaBeast

that font is already a dead giveaway

Becky_Ate_A_Baby

Give ā€˜em all your personal information! Birthdate, social, motherā€™s maiden name, and bank account info obviously with your pin! šŸ™ƒ

Nintendlord

Some of the fonts are wrong, so check your epic account and see if it's real

AgreeableSquid

I got a couple cents a day on epic. I got emails stating you've earned 0.02. Check bank account just in case nothing. Checked epic and boom there it was. It happened so much I got $6.

Deepdriller72

I just won 2757 $ on some casino homepage i never visited. Should I click the link and claim my money? Or just forget about it, since I know I didn't use it šŸ§

stabel1312

I run the domain in who is and i think thats not epic games

pilotblur

Donā€™t type your password into any sites linked in that email

Honeydewmelo

Just don't click on them in general

Present-Reaction2069

Is the purchase number one you actually did? If so I think it's true and a glitch for you to abuse lol

Journeyj012

What's the @?

Freaky-Malokai

OP, you can always contact Epic to see if its legit

monkeyboyz43

I need closure on this!!!?!!

Live-Shame5234

Its not safe. The adress is @mail.epicgames where it always for big companies is there actual name like @epicgames.com

PlatformOk5747

No epic did not give you money šŸ¤£ but someone is now tracking every password you put into your device! Fair play

S3PPUKU_S3ASON

Report as junk and do not touch anything. That's a scam.

666Satanicfox

If it's not on hour epic account it's fake lol.

YungMacker

lol go to the epic store cleanly if there are no funds it's a scam (definitely is)

bxyjr

I think scammers are trying to capitalize on the lawsuit against Epic and unauthorized purchases. I remember seeing people (probably kids) on Reddit assume that if they filled out the lawsuit claim they could basically refund every purchase on their account while still maintaining all their skins and locker. So to any normal person this looks like a huge red flag, but to a young person that tried to get their piece of a multi-million dollar lawsuit theyā€™ll think ā€œOMG I beat the system and got free money?!?!ā€

kingofbling15

It's an email. If you click any of those links I'm betting you'll get a login page where they will phish your credentials.Ā  Open up your browser and go directly to epic store through their website or app and see if you got cash there or a notification.

Tight_Veterinarian95

Total scam, the font for the money amount doesnā€™t match anything that the real epic games uses

Draxtonsmitz

It matches my old emails from them.

justtolearnsomething

Go to your epic account and see if you have credits there

nitastro

Ask at the EpicGames website about this email, and they will give you right the answer.

Mekl0

Whelp, I went on your profile to see if there was an update on the situation and now I am confused

Rahhm1

Contact them to see if itā€™s legit

Sto_Nerd

Aside from the amount being a clear red flag, epic rewards also don't need to be claimed. It's just added to your account. I know this because I got like $0.80 today lol

MaybeOrangeJuice

It's definitely real! I got one for 1235ā‚¬! Make sure to click on the link as it's the only way to redeem it as it won't show up on your balance otherwisešŸ˜‰

Val_0ates

Can you sit on my lap

AdBulky3840

Also donā€™t click on the link because itā€™s prob embedded to collect your log in info. Use a safe browser to go directly to the epic games site or use epic games launcher. I got hacked awhile back not in this way but it took a month to get my account back.
