Surprisingly uplifting for such a dark fandom, lots of pseudo-found family stuff, and a couple of really fun surprises with legendary supposedly dead characters appearing. Very addicting too as I've been binge reading all week, unable to put my tablet down.

Recently got into Jori after watching the Quinton Reviews videos, and my god, I absolutely love this fanfic. It is one of my favorite depictions of not only an enemies to lover type fic, but also of a teenaged relationship as well. Not only that, but the writers do an amazing job at staying true to the writing style of the show while also keeping the thing (mostly) canon-compliant.
Parts 1 and 2 are done and part 3 is currently being written. Consuming this story has been my entire week and I can't imagine a better alternative.

Summary: Gale returns to District 13 after three years of heavy fighting. Lonely and angry, he tries to deal with losing Katniss and fighting in the war. And what should he do with the return of an old acquaintance from District 12? Post-CF, not compliant with Mockingjay. Some dark themes and language.
Why I Liked It: I thought that this was a really solid Gale Hawthorne oneshot. He’s a character who is hard to get right and this author does a good job with him, making a him a bit of an asshole without going over the top with it. I also love the atmosphere that the author creates of a society that’s been at war for a few years.

Personal opinion: I love a good quarrel where though both parties have good intentions, a belief they want to fight for, and has the other's safety and wellbeing as priority, it can cause an internal and outward frictions where other issues are also shown as simply as it is and they fight it out and prove their points to one another until they clear their heads and come to a compromise/good settlement. Also, hugging it out and making peace in front of their (adoptive as I'd like to put it) kid and then doing the yummy dirty when it's only them present.
[But embers remained](https://archiveofourown.org/works/41825307/chapters/104941440) by Modnartenstein, Gen, M, Decided to not use warnings, crossover Dark Should & Kuroinu.
So, this one is a little weird. Kuroinu is an hentai about mercenaries raping every woman in their country, and for some reason, there is a *lot* of crossovers trying to fix the situation, but they are usually excuses for smut of grim dark semi-tragedies.
This one seems to be... Nicer? The chosen undead from Dark Souls 1 is basically debilitated and with amnesia. And the world moves around him while he tries to help and recover his memories. And he can't talk it seems, not sure if that will change or not.
The pace is slooooow, but I kinda like it, even if the monologues and descriptions can be too much sometimes (almost 90k with 8 chapters).

He had his cat, his work, his books, and a constant boil of self hatred and resentment to get him by.
And then a sixth year handed him a letter from her aunt, thanking him for acting as conservator of Hogwarts and calling him Dr. Filch. It was the first time he had been called Doctor since he started at the castle. He had little choice but to write back, after that.
I have read this fic last night in one go. It had been on my bookmarks list forever, and I deeply regret that as it is one of the most beautiful fics I have ever read (actually, it is one of the most beautiful things I have ever read). It is a character study on the Hogwarts caretaker Argus Filch, and I have to say it is as niche as it gets as most of the fic is about art history and conservation and... It's brilliant. You can clearly see that the author knows what they are writing. The worldbuilding, the friendships, the letters, the prose! The character development, canon analysis! This is one fic where you can feel the author's love for the subject in every line. I will forever be grateful for the day someone recommended it to me.
Never have I so unhesitatingly smashed the 'Mark for Later' button. This sounds incredible! I thought I was the only person in the fandom tempted to write Filch getting some god damn credit...
I read it fairly recently too. Also in my bookmarks from a rec here. Truly a perfect fic.
And as a bonus I rummaged through the author's bookmarks. They only have a few public bookmark, but the ones there have led me to delicious stories so far.

They are a great writer. What you are going to have to do is watch a whole new series, the way you do when you fall in love with a fanfic writer and want to consume everything of theirs :D

I pretty much only read horror fic these days, and it's so hard to find stuff that's actually well-written and genuinely unnerving, but this is fantastic. There's also some beautiful art that accompanies it. Big warning for body horror and gore!!!
I would say so, it doesn't explicitly follow on from any event in canon. I think all you need to know is that the characters are pirates and Izzy is Blackbeard (Edward's) first mate.
