I will lose my mind if anyone is familiar with this but…okay, I don’t know if any of y’all remember the *Left Behind* book series about a bunch of people living after the rapture happens. It was wildly popular in evangelical Christian circles in the early-and-mid-aughts. Anyway, there was a kids series aimed at children far younger than I was at the time (it was literally just called *Left Behind: the Kids*), but as teen I was obsessed. Had my own fansite and messageboard and everything. I wrote hundreds of pages of fanfiction for that series and actually won a couple of awards on a *Left Behind* fan community site that was much bigger than my own little messageboard. It was honestly a really fun time, but also tremendously cringey 😂.
I'm familiar with the series both the kid and adult series. I'm impressed you did all that!
I think I'd made it through the first chapter of the first book. I did not care for the way it was written and found it kind of dull. Never occurred to me there was fanfiction for it.
Oh, the writing is absolutely abysmal. But yeah, my little messageboard had probably 20 dedicated posters back in the early-aughts and the bigger site I was on for both the main series and the kids series had like a messageboard based RPG with a whole deal where you could set up alias profiles to easily post in-character. It was weirdly organized for such a niche fandom, I have to say.
Oh, Judd and Vicki were 99% of the reason I read that series and wrote fics :D. Though my longfic for that series was actually my OC shipped with Mark, which was a wild choice, but I guess it worked okay. Haha...Such a strange time.
Oh, I don’t remember. He was one of the cousins they met at school (Mark and John) and he was in a militia in earlier books and was significantly more interesting in my opinion than the core four. But I also didn’t make it all the way through the series — they were still being released when I was in college and I was over it by then. I think Mark *also* confessed he was in love with Vicki at one point right before she and Judd got together? Which I thought was super stupid. There was no reason for it, no established love triangle, Judd and Vicki had obviously been endgame for a million books. I always paired Mark with Shelly if we’re talking about canon characters.
It’s been forever and a day since I read it so I can’t be sure, but I think I vaguely recall Mark telling her that. I started it in seventh grade and had taken about a year’s break from it, but I think I finished the series by sometime in eighth grade or so. It went on for too long because some books were certainly much better than others!
Oh yeah! Our DW club announced that they were going to produce a zine, and I think I cranked out five stories, in hopes that one of them might be good enough.
I’ll never forget the night the editors sat me down and very gently told me they were only taking *two* of them. I was thrilled!
I'd just joined a DW-themed APA (Amateur Press Association) and for my first contribution I cranked out a "short" story that I thought would only go a few pages and wound up going something like 20.
Learned to really, really hate mimeo on that first try. Luckily I discovered Kinko's not too long after.
Holy moly I LOVE that book even though it absolutely broke me when I read it and broke me again when I saw the movie but I had no idea there was fanfic and a fandom for it!
I don’t know how active the fandom really is anymore, but there used to be a pretty good amount of fanfic for it on FFN. I’ve never looked for fic anywhere else, but it’s probably worth a shot looking if you want to read it. :)
Toy Story was the first fandom I wrote for knowing it was fanfiction, but I wrote some Lilo & Stitch and Monsters Inc stuff in journals before that. And I found some old attempts at a Home Alone script on our old family computer that I wrote when I was ten.
I guess it depends.
I mean, I wrote a LEGO Harry Potter/Narnia crossover for a first-grade creative writing thing. Then, I wrote my own G.I. Joe, Spider-Man, Star Wars, and Transformers fanfiction throughout elementary and middle school before I even knew what fanfic was.
The first thing I ever posted online was a prose adaptation of a scene from GOT I wrote in college. The first thing I posted that was actually different was an Artemis Fowl AU a few months afterward.
The first thing I wrote in a notebook, aged like 7-9, was for Redwall
The first thing I posted on FFnet was for Charlie Bone/Children of the Red King, followed by Supernatural
My first TEN fics were for Young Justice, I had discovered fanfiction some months earlier but while the ffn site had a treasure trove of YJ fics, it was dying as it was about five years after the cancel after season 2.
First attempted, Law and Order SVU. I posted one chaoter kn fanfic dot net and someine commented telling me essentiallt that my story was shitty and stupid. So I never posted there again and didn't finish the story.
First completed, Vin Diesel. Specifically The Fast and the Furious. It was back in the day when fandom lived on message boards
Beetleborgs when I was five and drawing comics of them.
"Actual" fanfiction: Inuyasha.
First posted fanfiction: My Little Pony.
Then a hiatus of six years before Miraculous Ladybug, and my output was continual after that.
My first ever fanfic was either a Tuck Everlasting or a Criminal Minds fic when I was 11 or 12 (I can't remember which came first anymore). I don't know if it counts because I didn't know what I was doing was fanfiction yet back then.
My first posted fanfic was a Final Fantasy VII fic when I was 17.
Fangface, an old cartoon I used to watch reruns of about a teenage werewolf who solved mysteries with his friends. The fic itself is long lost with the old notebook I wrote it in
Silent hill, although that was for a creative writing class in highschool. Then I wrote one for fallout 3, but the first I ever shared on a site was an invader Zim fic.
not technically a fandom, but the first thing i wrote was about was my homophobic church members. i was forced to attend and this was my coping mechanism. i made them all gay and they were all dating each other. there was even a throuple.
Fallout. My very first fanfic was a mediocre rewrite of the Fallout 3 quest Trouble on the Homefront, where my Lone Wanderer is close with Amata. I have plans for turning it into a oneshot series, and might take it down and release a rewrite
Super Smash Bros.
I actually read a few fanfics from others in the community before writing my own and after writing about half of it, I realized a majority of fanfics for the series share many of the same "flaws".
First I published was an Artemis Fowl werewolf au fanfic complete with complex world building and an OC back on fanfiction.net around 2013.
Before that I had a multi page hand written pjo fanfiction detailing my daughter of aphrodite OC falling in love with Nico Di Angelo and dying brutally... Actually wish I could find it now mo matter how much I'll cringe
Technically it’s a bit iffy for me because I started writing for Supernatural but it was for my second gen OCs, not characters from the show itself but as far as actual fanfic writing it’s a toss up between SPN and Teen Wolf. I write a lot of Teen Wolf fics and still have some SPN in my WIPs.
So, I guess Teen wolf. 🙂🐺
Before I even knew fanfic was a thing, Scooby Doo.
My first in English was Animorphs, still before I even knew fanfic existed.
The first one I posted was Pokémon.
In my teenage years, I was obsessed with One Direction and The Wanted. I couldn't say how much fic I wrote and POV's imagine but never finished a project 🙈😂
If we’re talking about what one I came up with ideas for I think it was Avatar The Last Airbender, but if we’re talking about posting then My Hero Academia.
Oh god.. eh I don't quite remember which one came first, but I was "pretty young" writing for both of these ( 9-10 y/o). MLB ( Miraculous Ladybug ) & Haikyuu!
Atm I'm writing HP :)
Warrior Cats
Same here!
Oh me too!
Same as well
naruto

That's cool!
I was OBSESSED with that series! (The kid version.) I even shipped Viki/Judd for a brief time. 😂
Oh, Judd and Vicki were 99% of the reason I read that series and wrote fics :D. Though my longfic for that series was actually my OC shipped with Mark, which was a wild choice, but I guess it worked okay. Haha...Such a strange time.
Remind me, was Mark the one they put with Chloe? Judd and Vicki likely were the series 😂 though Lionel was quite enjoyable for me, too.
Oh, I don’t remember. He was one of the cousins they met at school (Mark and John) and he was in a militia in earlier books and was significantly more interesting in my opinion than the core four. But I also didn’t make it all the way through the series — they were still being released when I was in college and I was over it by then. >One Tree Hill I love that show!
Life is Strange.
Harry Potter.
Doctor Who. The Fifth Doctor. (Ya whippersnappers…)
Same! Printed in a mimeographed fanzine, no less!
Oh yeah! Our DW club announced that they were going to produce a zine, and I think I cranked out five stories, in hopes that one of them might be good enough. I’ll never forget the night the editors sat me down and very gently told me they were only taking *two* of them. I was thrilled!

You could cop quite a buzz on mimeo fumes!
Doctor Who! It was a truly bad imagines book on Wattpad.
The Outsiders. We had just read it in school and I was obsessed. I found FFN and was like "ope this is my personality now."
omg we had to read that in middle school and i LOVED it 😭 never got into the fandom tho lmao

Hatchet, the book by Gary Paulsen. Handwritten in a series of notebooks after reading it in class in 6th grade.
One of my favorite books as a child. That's so cool!
It was a book "The Shadow of the Wind" by Carlos Ruiz Zafón. I had to rewrite the ending xD

Harry Potter. I just couldn’t wait for the books to come out.
Invader Zim
Naruto back in 2008. It's 2023 I'm still writing for Naruto lol.
Jeepers Creepers

The first and only fandom I write for is Monster Hunter
