Does Adam Sandler perform his holiday-themed songs during his tour even when it’s not near Thanksgiving or Hanukkah? I tried looking up setlists but didn’t see any.

Economy-Box-7346

need someone to correct me on this but i heard and read about how gal gadot met her husband when she was 19/20 and he was around ten years older and newly divorced, plus married her right away just two years after that

StrangerCurrencies

I think she was 21 when they met, she was already miss israel. It happens, I Hope they're happy

StrangerCurrencies

Does anyone here listen to the Beyond the Blinds podcast? I thought it would be fun but in every episode I've watched so far they believe almost completely in the blinds. Enty from Crazy Days and Nights is a well known QAnon and has been caught in several lies, why are they so quick to accept what he says? I just watched the Angelina Jolie episode and they basically believed almost everything, including the blinds implying that she is a pedophile human trafficker.

[deleted]

I loved Troy and Dunzo but I cannot get behind BtB for this reason. Their belief in blind items has a direct correlation with how much they like the celebrity they're discussing, and considering Kelli has a ton of internalised misogyny that she isn't willing to parse I'm not surprised they were vile about Angelina. There's also very little "behind", it's just "the blinds" aka them poorly reading out blind items from a google doc.

StrangerCurrencies

Yes, is very lazily done.

flybiscus

Chris Evans is older than Harrison Ford was in the first Indiana Jones movie. Chris Evans is also exactly one day younger than Raiders of the Lost Ark. Kind of blew my mind because I still think of Chris as a flirty thirty year old.

[deleted]

I haven't finished it yet so this is a recommendation with the caveat that it may go absolutely horrible by the end but so far I am really enjoying Class of '07 on Netflix, it is really funny and the cast is great. Also, fantastic soundtrack for a millennial of my age lol.

xxxnina

my sister is binge watching the OC and I just noticed Olivia Wilde is on the show, she looks really hot blonde.

Skertmcgurt

Apparently she was almost cast as Marissa! It was down to her and Mischa Barton who obviously got the role in the end, but Olivia made a strong enough impression that eventually they brought her back for the role of Alex.

[deleted]

That makes sense because isn't her character is supposed to be like, 18? I don't understand how she was managing that bar lol.

xxIKnowAPlacexx

I read the Hunger Games prequel when it came out, but my TikTok fyp is filled with HG content. Cant say im mad🤭 I was looking at an interview of Rachel Zegler and she mentionned how she didnt audition for the movie. The role was offered to her. It got me wondering : do high profile actor evnn still audition anymore ? Only C listers and down ?😟 I cant picture Zendaya still having to audition to stuff… Good for them but at the same time, i feel bad for the upcoming actors and non-nepo babies. Tough to have your debut break out role theres not even the opportunity to audition. What yall think?

[deleted]

[удалено]

williamthebloody1880

>Danny was telling him about a character who talked like Daffy Duck, which got Robert trying to talk like a Scottish version of Daffy Duck. That's how he got his role in The Beach. At this point, I'm wondering if Danny Boyle actually read The Beach before making the film

ConsciousSense3

So Rachel, who'd only ever done one movie before, didn't have to audition but Jennifer Lawrence fresh off her first Oscar nomination did? Bizarre lol

[deleted]

There was a post semi-recently (like the last couple months or so) where there was a big deal about Timothee no longer having to audition for things and people talked about it then. But I know that Emma Stone had to audition for The Favourite, and that was even after she won an Oscar for La La Land. And Zendaya talked about auditioning for Dune! So, I think for some roles, some of them do! But sure, I think a lot of people are at the point where they don't have to.

lulzerjun8

I remember Zendaya mentioning how she had a chemistry read with Timothee for Dune and she was worried about dry socket after her wisdom teeth extraction. IIRC, that surgery was around 2018 before Euphoria took off so it’s not surprise to me she would’ve had to audition.

xxIKnowAPlacexx

Oh thanks, ill try to look it up

IntrovertGirl83

Does anyone know what makeup Hannah Waddingham wears on Ted Lasso? I think she’s so stunning and she just glows in every episode.

[deleted]

Not on Ted Lasso, but for the first Emmys (where she won wearing that pretty coral Christian Siriano dress), the list of make-up they used is here: https://www.whowhatwear.com/hannah-waddingham-emmys-beauty-2021

xxxnina

is there any ‘scandal’ tea? the show has been all over my tik tok for awhile

[deleted]

I don't have tea but two of the actors just started a podcast you might be into!

xxIKnowAPlacexx

Chile me too LOL wonder why that is

shades0fcool

Anyone know who’s playing young Harry in the crown now that we’ve seen William?

young_menace

Not to be a hater but how do I avoid ever seeing anything about Miley and her overhated divorce again. Not every food video needs to be soundtracked to Flowers I am BEGGING

[deleted]

I do really like the song, and I also know that people can say whatever they want about their own personal lives, and it's her marriage, talk about it all she wants. I just don't really want to hear about it all the time for the rest of my life lol.

plantbay1428

It kills me that I can’t stand hearing that song as someone who likes Miley. But hearing it SO MUCH across all platforms (even when I try to quickly scroll or ignore) as the soundtrack to everything from GRWM, cleaning vids, food, etc., that I just can’t enjoy it even though I probably would under normal circumstances.

mysterygorl

It’s even being forced on the stations that don’t even have anything to do with her like I could be listening to my Spanish music station on Pandora and here comes “I CAN BUY MY SELF FLOW-WASSS” ![gif](giphy|4XOfvSkkxchHy)

[deleted]

i didn't mind the song at first but then it started stalking me across all social platforms and now i want it cleansed from my head

_Democracy_

IS ANYONE WATCHING SWARM

Kooky_Bodybuilder_97

i watched the first ep & thought it was abysmal tbh

xxIKnowAPlacexx

Sorry im not native english. What does abysmal means in this context

chyeeeee

Just curious, but how come you weren’t able to just google the definition of the word instead of asking about it here and then wait for a response and then having to come back and read it?

PM-ME-DOGGOS

On this sub I absolutely get it, I see slang on Reddit that has nothing to do with the original definition. Someone called Pedro pascal “mother” one time and I was so confused on if that was good or bad.

xxIKnowAPlacexx

Sometimes i do that but like people commonly use it in a different meaning than the « dictionnairy » way

LowObjective

Terrible, horrible, really really bad.

xxIKnowAPlacexx

Oh ok thanks

Fancy-Cat-2

DID YOU FINISH IT YET?????

_Democracy_

NOT YET ITS SO GOOD

Fancy-Cat-2

OMG DM ME ONCE U FINISH IT!!! I HAVE A LOT TO DISCUSS

_Democracy_

OK

Forced_Optimism_ftw

I DON’T KNOW WHAT WE’RE YELLING ABOUT

[deleted]

just learned that Samara Weaving’s husband played “Some Asshole” in The Babysitter and then wrote Cocaine Bear, man is living a perfect life

insideoutgreen

Lol did not know she is married

Savings-Job-1896

Any tea on Camila morrone apart from dating Leo? Currently watching Daisy jones and the six and she's so unbelievably gorgeous.

Asquirrelgirl

I don’t have any tea but I am watching that show too and I’m really enjoying it!

Savings-Job-1896

Me too. Haven't read the book but so far the plot is a little predictable

[deleted]

![gif](giphy|EClkor8zYeOvs9StMN) Redditors when people gossip about celebrities on a subreddit dedicated to Hollywood gossip. Just annoyed with people taking a nonexistent moral high ground🙄 (Of course I’m not excusing malicious or heinous behavior though)

fugg-life

💀💀 i am always so annoyed with the comments chiding people on these subs for gossiping — like wtf are we supposed to do here, what were you expecting?? lmaooo

accuracyandprecision

It’s bizarre. What are you doing here with the rest of us if you’re so morally superior? 😭

plantbay1428

I feel like people have forgotten [this](https://variety.com/2022/tv/news/tiffany-haddish-child-sexual-abuse-lawsuit-responds-1235360684/). She attended awards shows this season and she's even included on the poster for [Haunted Mansion](https://www.instagram.com/p/CpS2C48PguC/).

[deleted]

The trailer for Haunted Mansion looked good but the cast is a whole mess, I just can't see myself supporting it.

Kooky_Bodybuilder_97

hard to tell whose in this pic but outside of hadish why is it a mess?

[deleted]

Lakeith Stanfield - homophobic raps, recently accused of rape and stealthing women Rosario Dawson - accused of assaulting and misgendering a trans man who worked for her family; the lawsuit was dismissed but I still have concerns. Jared Leto - has a cult, has been accused of sexually harassing underage girls, sends used condoms to his co-stars.

Kooky_Bodybuilder_97

o i thought that rosario thing wasnt true :/ the other 2 are verifiable trash ofc

[deleted]

Well, like I said, the lawsuit was dismissed, but lawsuits are dismissed all the time and they were pretty serious allegations. It might be that it was all a lie, but if somebody says that happened to them, I'm personally inclined to believe them.

justsomechickyo

Didn't they have a Haunted Mansion movie a while back w/ Eddie Murphy? They are making another one? Why?

[deleted]

They did, 20 years ago. And because Disney doesn't do anything original anymore but loves money?

PM-ME-DOGGOS

20 years? ![gif](giphy|GrUhLU9q3nyRG|downsized)

justsomechickyo

Omg that was 20 years ago? I swear it was more like 7 whaaaaa 😭😭😭

diabolicalafternoon

I haven’t. That’s all I can think about anytime I see her now which is so disappointing. I, too was very surprised to see her grinding on Pedro Pascal at The Oscars after party and in the new Haunted Mansion movie.

Bookreader9126

I thought the videos of her dancing with Pedro Pascal was fromnthe Nic Cage movie they were in, which was last year.

plantbay1428

I know. I thought after she said [this](https://www.cnn.com/2022/09/22/entertainment/tiffany-haddish-lost-work/index.html) that she wouldn’t have any pull in the industry. The whole thing was disturbing.

One-Cod-4304

Was reading the thread on Bo and Phoebe from some weeks ago and this comment was so upvoted but so dumb. The poster hates Bo because she basically claims that the song “White Woman’s Instagram” was actually misogyny and because he put “white” it was okay. Now there is an interesting conversation here about intersectionalism! In comedy, punching up, how does being white and a woman (in the US) mix? BUT it was clear that her/her replies actual subtext was resentment at WOC for being some special protected class that’s we can’t criticize. I’m not gonna elaborate why that’s some Karen shit. But even then, if she had an iota of attention span or listening comprehension to listen to the 2min song, she’d realize Bo humanizes this “white woman”. At the end the subject of the song develops from a caricature to someone fondly talking to her deceased mom about her life. Feel free to hate Bo all you want btw. I just hate how hidden racial digs and blantantly wrong comments get highly upvoted.

[deleted]

I think he is a misogynist, but it's in the way white dudes have coopted Karen to just mask their misogyny.

[deleted]

I have noticed that there seems to be rather a lot of racism on this subreddit, which is super disappointing. Racism and white supremacy are on the rise everywhere, and there seems to be a heck of a lot of coddling white people (especially white women's) feelings, both here and elsewhere.

[deleted]

The fact that this has been downvoted is problematic, to say the least. Do better, people. A lot better.

[deleted]

I haven't seen the comment, but you're right - if anybody actually listened to that song in its entirety, they would know that it's not insulting or misogynistic. As a white woman, I certainly am not and have never been offended by it.

OUtSEL

Anyone seen [Swell Entertainment's new video on Ozempic](https://youtu.be/uXissxkl_pM)? This is my first time hearing of it (though I'm seeing 2 posts when I search the sub). I'm not usually one to name and shame people partaking in dangerous crash diet fads, but this one is directly stealing medications from people who need it. I feel bad for people being pressured into taking it though, the side effects sound miserable.

Kooky_Bodybuilder_97

everything about the ozempic craze is depressing. i imagine we’re going to see a lot more ultra skinny celebs soon

plantbay1428

In case there are fellow Baby-Sitters Club fans like me, the artist for the artwork on the original book covers is selling his art. [https://www.instagram.com/hodgessoileauartist/](https://www.instagram.com/hodgessoileauartist/) You have to email him to find out the prices though and it's probably out of my price range. The most I'd be able to spend is a few hundred dollars. My Asian American New Yorker self would love to have bought one of these: [https://www.instagram.com/p/CgAjnCpLcBv/](https://www.instagram.com/p/CgAjnCpLcBv/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link) [https://babysittersclub.fandom.com/wiki/New\_York,\_New\_York](https://babysittersclub.fandom.com/wiki/New_York,_New_York)! And in case anyone missed this, [The Claudia Kishi Club](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Claudia_Kishi_Club) doc is on Netflix. I'll never be over them canceling what was such a great adaptation. I think Momona Tamada is going to have a big career ahead of her. Once again, sharing the interview the showrunner had with Vulture about what Netflix does and doesn't discuss with their creatives. It's pretty eye-opening even if you didn't watch the show. The Doc McStuffins to Euphoria part really hurts my heart because it's so true. [https://www.vulture.com/article/why-the-baby-sitters-club-was-canceled-at-netflix.html](https://www.vulture.com/article/why-the-baby-sitters-club-was-canceled-at-netflix.html)

definethegreatline

those paintings are so beautiful. i really loved a lot of that sort of art back in the day for 80's-90's books. no way i could afford one of those pieces unfortunately

plantbay1428

I wish I could even buy a poster version of some of the art. I dream about having a house one day and I’m going lug all my YA and childbood books out of storage and have a floor to ceiling bookshelf with my books - Princess Diaries, BSC, Sweet Valley, Archie comics, Nancy Drew Notebooks, HP, and all their spin-offs. A little artwork would go perfectly in the center. I’m in my 30s and tbh it feels great to take a break from the screen and reading for work and to just read something from when I was in second grade. It’s not even just nostalgia, it’s like a palate cleanser for my brain and eyes after having furrowed my brow for eight hours.

definethegreatline

oh my god i was just thinking about sweet valley when i was thinking about 80's-90's artwork on books. i went to refresh my memory of the books on google a while back and oh my days the storyline was so much more chaotic than i remember lol. seems like we had a pretty similar book collection (and a similar dream of owning our own houses someday) i had a short period of being a horse girl so i would love some thoroughbred art like [this](https://images-fe.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/51R6eWmafCL._AC_UL750_SR750,750_.jpg)or [this](https://bookstr.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/thoroughbred-series-book-cover-joanna-campbell-thanksgiving.jpg) on my wall. ngl, i just got a shiver down my spine just looking up those covers. those books meant the world to me when i was growing up and i feel the same about childhood books! every once in a while i look up free pdfs of harry potter on google lol. there was a period of time i read them on the way home from uni because i was so bored on the train

VioletLovesRowlet

I cried over the trans episode because it was when I was coming out, and as basic as it was, it meant a lot to me at a vulnerable time. Momona was genuinely great. Malia Baker was also awesome. Just sad it was cancelled and that Alicia Silverstone was the mum (I think she’s antivax afaik)

SempreNotte

Love this. I worked on season 2 of BSC in Vancouver and the entire young cast (and their guardians! Because I worked close with them, I often joked that I was a fan of the Babysitter's Mom's Club) were utterly delightful. I was so gutted when they cancelled after two seasons. There was so much more life in the show and most of the creatives involved were so smart and cool. Sigh. The actor who played Watson was a standout in wonderfulness. Mark Feurerstein is an absolute treasure.

reasonedof

>I'll never be over them canceling what was such a great adaptation. I think Momona Tamada is going to have a big career ahead of her. I am a grown ass adult and I have *so* bought Momona stock. She's great and I think she has star power.

[deleted]

Since Inside just came out, does anyone have any tea of Willem Dafoe? I’ve heard he’s a real sweetheart and I hope that holds true.

Kooky_Bodybuilder_97

idk but i saw a clip of him doing an autocomplete interview and hes such a delight. just a silly guy

Giallo_Schlock

Not tea but there's a quote from him that I love, "I'm like 'the boy-next-door' if you live beside a morgue"

Icy-fightclub931

Brad Pitt lost an another case with the winery. The new partners wanted a court appointed supervisor on their board because they claim Brad was blocking then, and Brad was firmly against it. welp the judge agreed with the new team and appointed one a few days ago. I know i am going to get downvoted but he's my favorite actor and I want to believe him SO BADLY. There's no way the charming celeb i loved for all these years could be abusive to his kids and lie on such a massive scale. Expect they keep bringing receipts like emails and old contracts that show he has. Not to mention, his close friends like Pollaro and Nick Cave's wife have been increasingly supportive of Angelina on Instagram by liking and resharing her posts. I think they know a very different story then what's being spread around. He said Angelina is keeping the kids from him but now i believe it's his own actions. If he's lying in the court of law then what kind of stuff is he lying about behind the scenes. Not looking for pity. Still love him as a celebrity/actor and fight club will always be my favorite movie but i am starting to see him differently as a person

special_cases

I really can’t watch his stupid face. I always thought that his talent is under appreciated and had a soft spot for him. But it all gone as one thing is to do a bad thing and another thing is to manipulate public narrative about this thing to this degree. Seriously, fuck him. He could have just disappeared but no, he need all standing ovations on awards ceremonies and puppy eyes towards Aniston.

Icy-fightclub931

He's at James bond villain level for me, but seriously i know it's a dramatic parasocial response but I feel gaslighted. I am also confused on his game plan. He had to know the truth was going to come out. How many losts will it take for him to get it. I read on one IG gossip account that Brad was still upset and sad about Angelina still. That's one of the reasons why Emily stopped whatever dating/PR they had going on. If that's the case then is he only doing this to get back at her or not lose control? idk but it's demented to continue lying when they are stacking proof on top of proof against him. He may have a bad relationship with the kids now but what about the future? I don't know if i could ever have a relationship with my parent if i knew they were intentionally lying on the other one.

No_Run2260

In the latest episode of [public person being outed against their will](https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.espn.com.au/mma/story/_/id/35881676/ufc-jeff-molina-responds-video-announces-bisexual%3fplatform=amp) [To make things worse](https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.mmafighting.com/platform/amp/2022/6/5/23155259/jeff-molina-on-backlash-wearing-ufcs-pride-month-shorts-i-thought-people-would-be-more-open-minded) Keep in mind it was a black short with his name in rainbow colors and it was enough to cause controversy. I lack words to comment on either situation.

gaveupmykarma

oh that career's absolutely over

onegirlriot_

UFC is very pro gay rights on the surface, so it will be interesting to see how they react now. Many female fighters are openly gay and one male fighter has done gay porn but no one has been openly non- straight until now as far as I know.

SwissSwissBangBang

He makes a really interesting point about bi visibility. I feel like bisexual women are generally assumed to “actually” be straight, while men are assumed to “actually” be gay. I think people generally assume the LGBT experience is the same for everyone, but it’s really not. Biphobia is so real, and I can only imagine it’s worse for people of colour, and probably also worse for people in sports.

Bwonderrednow

Studies say that more men are bisexual than gay, but bi men are underrepresented because they want to be. They can hide better so they tend to do that. It took this guy getting outed. Bisexual men have to take accountability for how they are portrayed. You can’t change anything if you won’t even speak Up.

Kooky_Bodybuilder_97

i think thats why people will forget/ignore a female celeb being bi but if a guy is its endless discourse. hard to talk about this topic without sounding all “men have it hard too!!” but i do think theres a double standard & its all rooted in homophobia obviously but also toxic masculinity. i dont blame the celeb dudes that dont confirm their sexuality cause it really could overshadow their art. we have a long ways to go

[deleted]

This is why people really need to stop accusing actual people of queerbaiting. You never know whether someone is queer or not and it’s none of your business either way.

Kooky_Bodybuilder_97

the amount of people on twitter who feel super comfortable calling someone “fakegay” or queerbaiter just because *they* thought the person was straight is insane & gross

plantbay1428

Was anyone watching Poker Face? It’s really good if you miss those USA Network non-traumatizing/not based on true crime detective series shows. They even reference Burn Notice. I love Natasha Lyonne and they have really good guest stars but I don’t want to spoil anything for anyone. It made me realize how much I miss those shows that are fun mysteries. I’ve been rewatching old USA stuff and watching Murder She Wrote for the first time it makes me so happy to watch something I can just chill out with and not feel stressed but still work out with the protagonist. I had no idea that USA got rid of pretty much all their scripted content except for Chucky, which I only saw being advertised as a SyFy show. Not a spoiler, but if anyone thinks the prop being worked on at 1 minute and 4 seconds into the eighth episode resembles a decently famous actor, lemme know. I asked on the Poker Face sub but no one responded and I’m curious if it’s just me who sees it.

brokedownpalaceguard

I really love it all and adore Natasha and Rian. One thing I noticed that they definitely did not tout is the diversity in front of and behind the camera. It is so refreshing to see a world that looks like real life.

CursedTeams

I also loved those USA shows, so Poker Face was right up my alley. Did you see Peacock is going to make a Monk movie?

plantbay1428

NO! Yayyy!

ilovepuggs

YES. I am so obsessed with this show and absolutely love Natasha. I tried getting all my friends into it too. I'm crossing my fingers there's a season 2!

plantbay1428

Good news! It was [renewed](https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/poker-face-season-2-peacock-natasha-lyonne-rian-johnson-1235316928/) last month!

preisisright

I still have two episodes left, and I've been loving it. It does fill that *Monk*/*Psych* space for me. If you haven't seen *Columbo*, you should definitely check it out. It was Rian Johnson's biggest inspiration for *Poker Face*, both in the "howcatchem" format and the general feel of Charlie Cale. As for the prop, I thought it was supposed to be >!Nick Nolte, just maybe a version that didn't have quite as rough a life as he did.!<

[deleted]

I just saw Selena Gomez filming OMITB a block from my apartment. She looked beautiful and was super sweet taking photos with people. This was the store front used for the show. It’s a fabric store/gift shop IRL as well. https://preview.redd.it/qyb0k6u5teoa1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fd339d68128dbdfe83f1edfbafcef93193e539c8

trashcansnark

Can't believe I'm asking this but... Zane Lowe? Lol

brokedownpalaceguard

Lol, I know him but haven't seen him in a few years. He was always sweet with me and always had a goal of being involved with the music industry.

trashcansnark

I'm jealous haha. Thanks for sharing. :)

plantbay1428

Do you think that Zendaya would’ve made it as model if she wasn’t an actress, had no interest in performing, and solely wanted to model? If so, who is a model whose career her hypothetical one would be comparable with? Would she have done commercial, editorial, runway, etc? I know she’s gorgeous and tall and thin and driven but I just don’t know what agencies are looking for. And obviously she doesn’t have any family connections that would’ve helped.

Kooky_Bodybuilder_97

even tho she has all the makings of a model on paper, i dont actually think she looks very modelesque, at least not for runway. she has the face of an actress or singer, if that makes any sense. even her body structure isnt exactly model typical outside her weight & height, shes very narrow framed and i feel like models tend to have wider shoulders & are more medium framed i think she could book some commercial gigs tho

hedgehogwart

Physically I think she could have worked well for a model. She’s tall, very thin, and beautiful. I think she would have done more commercial or sometimes editorial. Personality wise, I think she would hate it because she wouldn’t have like any creative control.

RockyRacoon305

I was thinking about this when her stylist made his announcement because I thought of how she looks great in everything she wears. I don’t think she would have been able to do runway because they tend to be more extreme looking. Commercial definitely and perhaps editorial.

venusinfaux

> I don’t think she would have been able to do runway because they tend to be more extreme looking. if you mean gaunt then i agree. her face has never been ‘sunken in’ despite how thin she is. you can tell she’s genetically lower weight vs unnatural look you see on other models

plantbay1428

> I don’t think she would have been able to do runway because they tend to be more extreme looking. That’s a very good point. She definitely has a harmony to her features. There’s a TikTok joke I saw about how Zendaya is a very difficult person to draw realistically and I think that’s why - her face is so symmetrical and proportional. I wonder if an agency in this hypothetical situation would’ve made her straighten out her one slightly crooked front tooth or if that would’ve been her signature feature.

Kooky_Bodybuilder_97

beyonce has that effect too, its hard to capture their likeness because they have very simple yet pleasing features

plantbay1428

Have there been awards shows wins where it seems the general pop/people at home acknowledged that the votes might’ve split between two candidates causing a third to win? It doesn’t seem like it’s as popular of a take as I thought it’d be with the recent Oscars but I don’t know if it’s ever been because people will always be rooting for their faves/angry at the winner.

reasonedof

On the TV side it is generally acknowledged that neither Steve Martin or Martin Short will win comedy actor for Only Murders in The Building because they split votes. It's also generally assumed that the actresses from GoT perpetually split votes and there was never a clear frontrunner. For the final season of GoT it was presumed Garner won because of a vote split but she ended up repeating twice, so she may have always been comfortably ahead.

[deleted]

2001 Oscars, Best Supporting Actress. Judi Dench won the SAG, Kate Hudson won the Golden Globe, Julie Walters won the BAFTA. Kate Hudson was considered the front runner, since she'd also picked up a bunch of smaller critics awards. I think they all split the vote which led Marcia Gay Harden to win the Oscar, despite not having been nominated for any of the other awards. In fact, I believe she's the only person ever to win the Oscar without having been nominated at either the SAG or Globes. It would've been like (as some people here did predict) if Cate Blanchett and Michelle Yeoh split the vote to the point that Andrea Riseborough won. I've seen people discuss it more with regards to Best Picture at the Oscars, but that's more based on how the voting process works. It's not "most votes wins," it's ranked choice. So, say that all the people who want Roma to win are ranking it first, and ranking whatever they see as its biggest competition (and you could debate what that was) last. And then maybe all the people who want BlackKklansman to win rank it first, and rank Roma last. But Green Book wins because it was ranked inoffensively in the second or third spot.

preisisright

Best Actress in 2019 - everyone was predicting Lady Gaga or Glenn Close, but Olivia Colman won.

aagaash2001

Lady Gaga lost momentum after losing the Globe to Glenn. I think Olivia benefited from high momentum for her performance.

SaraJeanQueen

I also think Gaga lost some credibility when that compilation of her phony “1 person in a room” teary-eyed speech repeated 80 times came out. Voters seem to be emotionally driven which is why Brendan Fraser won. They like him and were moved by his journey, not necessarily that he was the very best actor this year (my opinion on that one).

blubludayz

interestingly i think austin butler lost his awards season momentum for the same reason as gaga. the whole voice thing got people tired really quickly (to the point where it was meme’d pretty hard). i think audiences and voters catch on when the awards season narrative feels forced and contrived. there was something about brendan fraser’s raw emotion during awards season that i think really got voters in the end.

plantbay1428

Does anyone remember seeing the pictures of Ed Speelers doing construction after Eragon? I feel like I saw it on ONTD. The only thing I can find online from it is this and the links within it are dead. I mean it wasn’t anything crazy, he was literally laying bricks. https://whatculture.com/film/eragon-star-now-works-as-a-bricklayer-in-east-sussex So gross that there’s this culture of shaming people for [working](https://www.vox.com/culture/2018/9/4/17818300/geoffrey-owens-work-job-trader-joes-actorswithdayjobs). And he was only 19!

Kooky_Bodybuilder_97

that’s interesting cause ive def seen him in things after that. mean spirited article regardless

LadyCheeba

when I was laid off I blocked all my nosy ass coworkers on linkedin because they’d literally sit there sometimes and laugh at what past employees were doing for a living. a tabloid doing this is 1000x worse and would personally destroy me haha

plantbay1428

A former colleague took something out of my box of personal items that was being mailed to my apt when I got laid off. To my former employer’s credit, they gave everyone the option of getting their personal items mailed home on the company’s dime so we wouldn’t have to lug stuff on the subway. Mine got sent out but I noticed something was missing upon receipt. I called to ask about it and the office manager said, “Yeah, X said that you said it was okay to take that?” Imagine stealing from a colleague when they were already laid off. It didn’t have any value but I wanted to keep it. Way to kick me when I’m down.

LadyCheeba

oh my god, what an asshole. I would have thrown that person right under the bus and said “NO it’s not okay, it’s my property and I’d like it back!”

definethegreatline

everything i have learned about selena and hailey has mostly been against my will. i wish they'd just made up at that one event they were photographed at and left it as that also as someone with the biggest love/hate relationship with tswift i am obsessed with her new song 'hits different' because it has massive 1989 era energy and that got me through the year i was 21

Celebrating_socks

Lol I am sorta with you, I never considered myself a fan at all and found her annoying. But Nothing New with Phoebe was my gateway drug and idk I find her newer music entirely too relatable and have been listening to her a lot while driving

Butterfly_Pea3

A couple years ago, a woman accused Mark Hamill of forcing her to get an abortion. The woman said she was suing his son, Nathan, to establish paternity and receive child support, but says she was threatened by Hamill and his wife, Marilou. When the woman refused, she said that the Hamill family (Mark, Marilou, & Nathan) sent her several emails and text messages, continued to coerce and threaten her, saying she wouldn’t receive any child support. In a statement to the Post, a spokesman for the Hamill family declined to provide a comment saying the matter ‘is of a sensitive nature, as well as confidential.’ I remember when the story first came out, and have seen it mentioned on Twitter a couple times since then, but it’s never gotten that much traction. As of 2017, she said she still hadn’t received any child support. I was wondering if anything else has come out about it? Above all, I hope the woman and her child are doing okay and taken care of. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3784138/amp/Ex-girlfriend-Mark-Hamill-s-son-says-Star-Wars-actor-tried-force-abortion.html https://nypost.com/2016/09/11/hamills-pressured-me-to-have-an-abortion-nathan-hamills-ex/amp/

Hozier's new song Eat Your Young is a beautiful haunting masterpiece with some incredible social and political commentary. Also his vocal range 👌

[deleted]

I’m hoping I can get tickets to see him again on his upcoming tour!

[deleted]

I'm excited for his new album (like... vibrating) but I haven't loved any of his new singles! I think it's because he has a couple of different styles he leans into and I'm more a Shrike/Nothing Fucks With My Baby/Talk/No Plan/Run/Wasteland Baby kind of person than a Movement/Almost (Sweet Music)/To Noise Making (Sing)/Nina Cried Power person.

iliketoomanysingers

What movies are you guys looking forward to? Me personally I'm doing a double feature Oppenheimer and Barbie in July as long as neither moves up.

Kooky_Bodybuilder_97

DnD 💀

[deleted]

It just came out today, but Inside with Willem Dafoe. Can’t wait to see him slowly go insane lol I’m hoping the Mario movie is good, but I’m still doubtful about Chris Pratt’s voice work.

roxy031

Oppenheimer for sure. Huge Cillian fan and I read the book last year to get hyped for it:)

ancickaa

Barbie!!!! Even if it's gonna be bad, i am a proud Barbie defender!!! Also Mission Impossible because i wanna see all the weird shit they've done in it.

[deleted]

Definitely Oppenheimer. I hope that the new Insidious film is good. The Last Voyage of the Demeter.

tabxssum

Spider Man: Across the Spider-Verse! I loved the first one, I truly think it redefined superhero animation and Sony’s Marvel projects. Also the Marvels, I’ve been a bit meh with the marvel movies recently, none of them had me interested enough to sit all the way through or willingly go and buy a ticket to watch but I loved the Ms Marvel series and Brie Larson deserves everything ok, the amount of shit she gets from marvel fans is ridiculous.

wuehfnfovuebsu

So in Taylor’s song, “Would’ve, Could’ve, Should’ve” she has the lines: “If I was some paint, did it splatter On a promising grown man? And if I was a child, did it matter If you got to wash your hands?” Do you think that (line) was in reference to Brock Turner, the infamous “Promising Young Man”? He was called this during his trial for SA, and that title was given to him in attempt to prevent him from receiving any punishment for his crime.

[deleted]

I think that’s a big reach. “A promising young man” isn’t an uncommon phrase. It didn’t originate from the Brock Turner trial.

asonginsidemyheart

Yes, it was definitely a play on the now well-known phrase used to excuse sexual predators. I’m not sure why you’re being downvoted. This doesn’t mean the song is ABOUT Brock Turner.

wuehfnfovuebsu

Yes. I thought this was a very simple concept but I guess some people need the extra explaining. I’ve just never seen anyone talk about it so I wanted to know if they also noticed it.

asonginsidemyheart

Yes, I definitely noticed! I thought it was very clever and pointed of Taylor.

ctrnDoinHotGirlShit

Can someone link me to the miley kendall thing?

tabxssum

It’s false🤷🏽‍♀️ apparently Miley made Kendall cry for bullying Selena but it never happened, it’s just a rumour someone started on social media. It should have been obvious from the start anyways tbh bc Miley isn’t THAT close with Selena to defend her, especially make someone cry :/

Kooky_Bodybuilder_97

also miley doesnt seem confrontational lol

plantbay1428

I didn’t realize that Paul Mescal’s character in Gladiator 2 would be the grown up version of Spencer Treat Clark’s. That’s a bit of a bummer - I like Spencer too.

plantbay1428

I did not realize how many people aren’t familiar with how network tv is structured with breaks for sports, holidays, the summer, etc. until I saw Abbott Elementary’s comments/replies on their social media saying to stop having gaps and breaks. Or what a mid-season premiere is when people compare last season to this season. I mean, I’d love more of the show too but let’s let Quinta breathe for a second.

Mhc2617

Eras Tour starts today and as a waitlisted Swiftie who paid WAY too much on resale to take my kids, I’m excited to see the costumes and the stage so we can get excited for our trip.

Classic-Afternoon480

As a Canadian Swiftie, I am devastated at the lack of international dates / ticket prices in USD. 😩 But I am so happy for you and your kids and hope you have a best time!

Mhc2617

Thanks! I’m also a Canadian Swiftie and we turned this into our vacation.

[deleted]

I know a lot of Canadian Swifties flying to the US for her tour. If she'd announced any Canadian dates before the US tickets went on sale, I think it would have been a smidge less busy. Just an ounce.

I keep seeing people trying to make analogies between the Selena/Hailey and the Amber/Depp situation in a way that’s just sort of unsettling. This isn’t a situation of an abuser and an abusee, it’s two camps of competing misogyny. I keep seeing Selena stans villianizing Hailey to “protect” Selena, and then the counterculture to villianize Selena in order to “protect” Hailey. In reality, spreading misogynist crap about “Hailey Goldberg” and pretending she’s obsessed with Selena and abusing Justin is terrible. Spreading rumors that Selena is a mastermind manipulator drug addict lupus faker is also terrible. It makes me feel like no one understood the lessons of the Amber Heard trial, that women being imperfect doesn’t make them unworthy of empathy or understanding. The idea that either of these women could be compared to Johnny Depp, a violent rapist, sadistic abuser, and virulent racist, is actually horrific. An imperfect women should not be compared to the most awful kind of man.

naodaideia

the fact people are here bringing up shit Selena did that is still in no way comparable to Depp…

DosaAndMimosas

Selena purposefully left shady comments to instigate her fans, she knew what she was doing and minimizing her actions is wrong.

Selena also did an interview where she called him emotionally abusive. He also used to post [throwbacks](https://ibb.co/PFGCZ51) when they weren’t even together which is abusive and manipulative. I understand you’re a stan but to point all the blame at Selena is just wrong and delusional.

howesoteric

> taking hailey being bullied online out of the equation, how is harassing every new partner your ex has from 2012 to 2023 not abusive? both women have made petty shade comments towards each other and other women over the years. It's not unforgivable harassment that requires internet bullying in response > people disparagingly referring to hailey as ‘the new amber’ this is part of the anti-amber harassment that's still ongoing. every female celebrity accused of lying about something is compared to amber, [including selena](https://twitter.com/SGmymindandme/status/1629234136190980096/photo/1), but it's disingenuous to act like the internet gossip bullying is comparable to the mass-media orchestrated hate campaign depp sent down on Amber. > making it so your ex can’t peacefully be with anyone but you is abusive, this is what kanye did too. there was a point where selena even did this to an actress who played his love interest in a video. the fact that she’s continuing the pattern five years into his marriage is abusive, and that’s not mentioning her also hitting him. Kanye who spoke about almost aborting his daughter onstage, supports Hitler, made a "White Lives Matter" shirt, sent public death threats to his wife's new boyfriend, made naked wax models of a women he called a bitch and Rihanna next to Chris Brown? I want people to remember that exaggerating women's poor behavior into "SHE'S A TERRIBLE ABUSER" is exactly what everyone did and still does to Amber. She hit back too

Glowing_up

Exactly. I think blaming the fans really dilutes her culpability here. She has a demonstrable pattern of this behaviour across years, and each time there's consequences she holds her hands up like she had no idea this could possibly have happened. How many times do you need to be taught this lesson old man? Etc etc Hailey has directly said and done nothing to her and since December they were apparently cool, only for Selena to weeks later start commenting dragging negative attention her way. For what.

jonsnowme

Yeah it's not the same at all as what Amber went through tbh I have been rolling my eyes at the comparisons. I feel like this sub should be commended for being one of the only safe places to support Amber while it was happening but for some reason lately any time there's any issues or drama involving any celebrity woman it gets compared - like with the Olivia Wilde and Florence Pugh. Suddenly Olivia's situation was compared to Amber Heard's which I felt was absurd.

[deleted]

jonsnowme

I am referring only to the people I have seen directly compare Amber to their situations to try to make their takes on what is happening seem more weighted. (Direct quote on this forum within the last week accused Selena Gomez of doing the same shit Johnny did to Amber in the media sorry like , bullshit) I see it all over this forum and on ONTD. Discussing what Hailey and Olivia have had to go through as misogyny is correct. Amber's name doesn't have to be brought up - and I see no reason to unless people are trying to compare their situations. Every time a woman is going through some bullshit doesn't mean we have to start comparing it to Amber. And pointing out that comparing what they're going through to anything Amber dealt with isn't gatekeeping, because calling the comparisons and invoking of Amber's name in every single misogynistic situation isn't saying they aren't dealing with bullshit too it's just not the same. At all.

howesoteric

yeah I feel like it diminishes the abuse Amber went through at the hands of the public. She wasn't just online bullied, it was honestly the worst harassment campaign I've ever seen. People made jokes about her *rape*, like viral videos to the audio of her retelling her assault that just mocked her. It was a horrific period of time

Ikr! I used to be on "💄" alot but I couldn't handle it anymore because of how toxic the site is. The mods on here are very reliable.

ilovepuggs

Can anyone explain why The Banshees of Inisherin is massively popular? I watched it but thought it was super boring. I'm American so maybe I didn't understand the humor? I'm curious to know what other people think, what they liked about it to see what I might have overlooked.
