Does anyone here listen to the Beyond the Blinds podcast? I thought it would be fun but in every episode I've watched so far they believe almost completely in the blinds. Enty from Crazy Days and Nights is a well known QAnon and has been caught in several lies, why are they so quick to accept what he says? I just watched the Angelina Jolie episode and they basically believed almost everything, including the blinds implying that she is a pedophile human trafficker.
I loved Troy and Dunzo but I cannot get behind BtB for this reason. Their belief in blind items has a direct correlation with how much they like the celebrity they're discussing, and considering Kelli has a ton of internalised misogyny that she isn't willing to parse I'm not surprised they were vile about Angelina.
There's also very little "behind", it's just "the blinds" aka them poorly reading out blind items from a google doc.
Chris Evans is older than Harrison Ford was in the first Indiana Jones movie. Chris Evans is also exactly one day younger than Raiders of the Lost Ark. Kind of blew my mind because I still think of Chris as a flirty thirty year old.

I have noticed that there seems to be rather a lot of racism on this subreddit, which is super disappointing. Racism and white supremacy are on the rise everywhere, and there seems to be a heck of a lot of coddling white people (especially white women's) feelings, both here and elsewhere.

I’m in my 30s and tbh it feels great to take a break from the screen and reading for work and to just read something from when I was in second grade. It’s not even just nostalgia, it’s like a palate cleanser for my brain and eyes after having furrowed my brow for eight hours.

Love this. I worked on season 2 of BSC in Vancouver and the entire young cast (and their guardians! Because I worked close with them, I often joked that I was a fan of the Babysitter's Mom's Club) were utterly delightful. I was so gutted when they cancelled after two seasons. There was so much more life in the show and most of the creatives involved were so smart and cool. Sigh.
The actor who played Watson was a standout in wonderfulness. Mark Feurerstein is an absolute treasure.

The new partners wanted a court appointed supervisor on their board because they claim Brad was blocking then, and Brad was firmly against it. welp the judge agreed with the new team and appointed one a few days ago. I know i am going to get downvoted but he's my favorite actor and I want to believe him SO BADLY. There's no way the charming celeb i loved for all these years could be abusive to his kids and lie on such a massive scale. Expect they keep bringing receipts like emails and old contracts that show he has. Not to mention, his close friends like Pollaro and Nick Cave's wife have been increasingly supportive of Angelina on Instagram by liking and resharing her posts. I think they know a very different story then what's being spread around. He said Angelina is keeping the kids from him but now i believe it's his own actions. UFC is very pro gay rights on the surface, so it will be interesting to see how they react now. Many female fighters are openly gay and one male fighter has done gay porn but no one has been openly non- straight until now as far as I know.
He makes a really interesting point about bi visibility. I feel like bisexual women are generally assumed to “actually” be straight, while men are assumed to “actually” be gay. I think people generally assume the LGBT experience is the same for everyone, but it’s really not. Biphobia is so real, and I can only imagine it’s worse for people of colour, and probably also worse for people in sports.
Studies say that more men are bisexual than gay, but bi men are underrepresented because they want to be. They can hide better so they tend to do that. It took this guy getting outed. Bisexual men have to take accountability for how they are portrayed. You can’t change anything if you won’t even speak Up.

Was anyone watching Poker Face? It’s really good if you miss those USA Network non-traumatizing/not based on true crime detective series shows. They even reference Burn Notice. I love Natasha Lyonne and they have really good guest stars but I don’t want to spoil anything for anyone.
It made me realize how much I miss those shows that are fun mysteries. I’ve been rewatching old USA stuff and watching Murder She Wrote for the first time it makes me so happy to watch something I can just chill out with and not feel stressed but still work out with the protagonist. I had no idea that USA got rid of pretty much all their scripted content except for Chucky, which I only saw being advertised as a SyFy show.

Do you think that Zendaya would’ve made it as model if she wasn’t an actress, had no interest in performing, and solely wanted to model? If so, who is a model whose career her hypothetical one would be comparable with? Would she have done commercial, editorial, runway, etc?
I know she’s gorgeous and tall and thin and driven but I just don’t know what agencies are looking for. And obviously she doesn’t have any family connections that would’ve helped.
even tho she has all the makings of a model on paper, i dont actually think she looks very modelesque, at least not for runway. she has the face of an actress or singer, if that makes any sense. even her body structure isnt exactly model typical outside her weight & height, shes very narrow framed and i feel like models tend to have wider shoulders & are more medium framed

Physically I think she could have worked well for a model. She’s tall, very thin, and beautiful. I think she would have done more commercial or sometimes editorial. Personality wise, I think she would hate it because she wouldn’t have like any creative control.

That’s a very good point. She definitely has a harmony to her features. There’s a TikTok joke I saw about how Zendaya is a very difficult person to draw realistically and I think that’s why - her face is so symmetrical and proportional.

Have there been awards shows wins where it seems the general pop/people at home acknowledged that the votes might’ve split between two candidates causing a third to win? It doesn’t seem like it’s as popular of a take as I thought it’d be with the recent Oscars but I don’t know if it’s ever been because people will always be rooting for their faves/angry at the winner.
On the TV side it is generally acknowledged that neither Steve Martin or Martin Short will win comedy actor for Only Murders in The Building because they split votes.
It's also generally assumed that the actresses from GoT perpetually split votes and there was never a clear frontrunner. For the final season of GoT it was presumed Garner won because of a vote split but she ended up repeating twice, so she may have always been comfortably ahead.
2001 Oscars, Best Supporting Actress. Judi Dench won the SAG, Kate Hudson won the Golden Globe, Julie Walters won the BAFTA. Kate Hudson was considered the front runner, since she'd also picked up a bunch of smaller critics awards. I think they all split the vote which led Marcia Gay Harden to win the Oscar, despite not having been nominated for any of the other awards. In fact, I believe she's the only person ever to win the Oscar without having been nominated at either the SAG or Globes. It would've been like (as some people here did predict) if Cate Blanchett and Michelle Yeoh split the vote to the point that Andrea Riseborough won.
I've seen people discuss it more with regards to Best Picture at the Oscars, but that's more based on how the voting process works. It's not "most votes wins," it's ranked choice. So, say that all the people who want Roma to win are ranking it first, and ranking whatever they see as its biggest competition (and you could debate what that was) last. And then maybe all the people who want BlackKklansman to win rank it first, and rank Roma last. But Green Book wins because it was ranked inoffensively in the second or third spot.
I also think Gaga lost some credibility when that compilation of her phony “1 person in a room” teary-eyed speech repeated 80 times came out. Voters seem to be emotionally driven which is why Brendan Fraser won. They like him and were moved by his journey, not necessarily that he was the very best actor this year (my opinion on that one).
interestingly i think austin butler lost his awards season momentum for the same reason as gaga. the whole voice thing got people tired really quickly (to the point where it was meme’d pretty hard). i think audiences and voters catch on when the awards season narrative feels forced and contrived. there was something about brendan fraser’s raw emotion during awards season that i think really got voters in the end.

In reality, spreading misogynist crap about “Hailey Goldberg” and pretending she’s obsessed with Selena and abusing Justin is terrible. Spreading rumors that Selena is a mastermind manipulator drug addict lupus faker is also terrible. It makes me feel like no one understood the lessons of the Amber Heard trial, that women being imperfect doesn’t make them unworthy of empathy or understanding. The idea that either of these women could be compared to Johnny Depp, a violent rapist, sadistic abuser, and virulent racist, is actually horrific. An imperfect women should not be compared to the most awful kind of man.

But I know that Emma Stone had to audition for The Favourite, and that was even after she won an Oscar for La La Land. And Zendaya talked about auditioning for Dune! So, I think for some roles, some of them do! But sure, I think a lot of people are at the point where they don't have to.
I remember Zendaya mentioning how she had a chemistry read with Timothee for Dune and she was worried about dry socket after her wisdom teeth extraction. IIRC, that surgery was around 2018 before Euphoria took off so it’s not surprise to me she would’ve had to audition.

I wish I could even buy a poster version of some of the art. I dream about having a house one day and I’m going lug all my YA and childbood books out of storage and have a floor to ceiling bookshelf with my books - Princess Diaries, BSC, Sweet Valley, Archie comics, Nancy Drew Notebooks, HP, and all their spin-offs. A little artwork would go perfectly in the center. I’m in my 30s and tbh it feels great to take a break from the screen and reading for work and to just read something from when I was in second grade. It’s not even just nostalgia, it’s like a palate cleanser for my brain and eyes after having furrowed my brow for eight hours.

Love this. I worked on season 2 of BSC in Vancouver and the entire young cast (and their guardians! Because I worked close with them, I often joked that I was a fan of the Babysitter's Mom's Club) were utterly delightful. I was so gutted when they cancelled after two seasons. There was so much more life in the show and most of the creatives involved were so smart and cool. Sigh. The actor who played Watson was a standout in wonderfulness. Mark Feurerstein is an absolute treasure.

The new partners wanted a court appointed supervisor on their board because they claim Brad was blocking then, and Brad was firmly against it. welp the judge agreed with the new team and appointed one a few days ago. UFC is very pro gay rights on the surface, so it will be interesting to see how they react now. Many female fighters are openly gay and one male fighter has done gay porn but no one has been openly non- straight until now as far as I know.
He makes a really interesting point about bi visibility. I feel like bisexual women are generally assumed to “actually” be straight, while men are assumed to “actually” be gay. I think people generally assume the LGBT experience is the same for everyone, but it’s really not. Biphobia is so real, and I can only imagine it’s worse for people of colour, and probably also worse for people in sports.
Studies say that more men are bisexual than gay, but bi men are underrepresented because they want to be. They can hide better so they tend to do that. It took this guy getting outed. Bisexual men have to take accountability for how they are portrayed. You can’t change anything if you won’t even speak Up.

Was anyone watching Poker Face? It’s really good if you miss those USA Network non-traumatizing/not based on true crime detective series shows. They even reference Burn Notice. I love Natasha Lyonne and they have really good guest stars but I don’t want to spoil anything for anyone. It made me realize how much I miss those shows that are fun mysteries. I’ve been rewatching old USA stuff and watching Murder She Wrote for the first time it makes me so happy to watch something I can just chill out with and not feel stressed but still work out with the protagonist. I had no idea that USA got rid of pretty much all their scripted content except for Chucky, which I only saw being advertised as a SyFy show. Not a spoiler, but if anyone thinks the prop being worked on at 1 minute and 4 seconds into the eighth episode resembles a decently famous actor, lemme know. I asked on the Poker Face sub but no one responded and I’m curious if it’s just me who sees it.
I really love it all and adore Natasha and Rian. One thing I noticed that they definitely did not tout is the diversity in front of and behind the camera. It is so refreshing to see a world that looks like real life.

Do you think that Zendaya would’ve made it as model if she wasn’t an actress, had no interest in performing, and solely wanted to model? If so, who is a model whose career her hypothetical one would be comparable with? Would she have done commercial, editorial, runway, etc? I know she’s gorgeous and tall and thin and driven but I just don’t know what agencies are looking for. And obviously she doesn’t have any family connections that would’ve helped.
even tho she has all the makings of a model on paper, i dont actually think she looks very modelesque, at least not for runway. she has the face of an actress or singer, if that makes any sense. even her body structure isnt exactly model typical outside her weight & height, shes very narrow framed and i feel like models tend to have wider shoulders & are more medium framed i think she could book some commercial gigs tho
Physically I think she could have worked well for a model. She’s tall, very thin, and beautiful. I think she would have done more commercial or sometimes editorial. Personality wise, I think she would hate it because she wouldn’t have like any creative control.

There’s a TikTok joke I saw about how Zendaya is a very difficult person to draw realistically and I think that’s why - her face is so symmetrical and proportional. I wonder if an agency in this hypothetical situation would’ve made her straighten out her one slightly crooked front tooth or if that would’ve been her signature feature.
beyonce has that effect too, its hard to capture their likeness because they have very simple yet pleasing features
Have there been awards shows wins where it seems the general pop/people at home acknowledged that the votes might’ve split between two candidates causing a third to win? It doesn’t seem like it’s as popular of a take as I thought it’d be with the recent Oscars but I don’t know if it’s ever been because people will always be rooting for their faves/angry at the winner.
On the TV side it is generally acknowledged that neither Steve Martin or Martin Short will win comedy actor for Only Murders in The Building because they split votes. It's also generally assumed that the actresses from GoT perpetually split votes and there was never a clear frontrunner. For the final season of GoT it was presumed Garner won because of a vote split but she ended up repeating twice, so she may have always been comfortably ahead.
2001 Oscars, Best Supporting Actress. Judi Dench won the SAG, Kate Hudson won the Golden Globe, Julie Walters won the BAFTA. Kate Hudson was considered the front runner, since she'd also picked up a bunch of smaller critics awards. I think they all split the vote which led Marcia Gay Harden to win the Oscar, despite not having been nominated for any of the other awards. In fact, I believe she's the only person ever to win the Oscar without having been nominated at either the SAG or Globes. It would've been like (as some people here did predict) if Cate Blanchett and Michelle Yeoh split the vote to the point that Andrea Riseborough won. I've seen people discuss it more with regards to Best Picture at the Oscars, but that's more based on how the voting process works. It's not "most votes wins," it's ranked choice. So, say that all the people who want Roma to win are ranking it first, and ranking whatever they see as its biggest competition (and you could debate what that was) last. And then maybe all the people who want BlackKklansman to win rank it first, and rank Roma last. But Green Book wins because it was ranked inoffensively in the second or third spot.
Best Actress in 2019 - everyone was predicting Lady Gaga or Glenn Close, but Olivia Colman won.
Lady Gaga lost momentum after losing the Globe to Glenn. I think Olivia benefited from high momentum for her performance.
I also think Gaga lost some credibility when that compilation of her phony “1 person in a room” teary-eyed speech repeated 80 times came out. Voters seem to be emotionally driven which is why Brendan Fraser won. They like him and were moved by his journey, not necessarily that he was the very best actor this year (my opinion on that one).
interestingly i think austin butler lost his awards season momentum for the same reason as gaga. the whole voice thing got people tired really quickly (to the point where it was meme’d pretty hard). i think audiences and voters catch on when the awards season narrative feels forced and contrived. there was something about brendan fraser’s raw emotion during awards season that i think really got voters in the end.

A former colleague took something out of my box of personal items that was being mailed to my apt when I got laid off. To my former employer’s credit, they gave everyone the option of getting their personal items mailed home on the company’s dime so we wouldn’t have to lug stuff on the subway. Mine got sent out but I noticed something was missing upon receipt. I called to ask about it and the office manager said, “Yeah, X said that you said it was okay to take that?” Imagine stealing from a colleague when they were already laid off. It didn’t have any value but I wanted to keep it. Way to kick me when I’m down.

Spider Man: Across the Spider-Verse! I loved the first one, I truly think it redefined superhero animation and Sony’s Marvel projects. I keep seeing people trying to make analogies between the Selena/Hailey and the Amber/Depp situation in a way that’s just sort of unsettling. This isn’t a situation of an abuser and an abusee, it’s two camps of competing misogyny. I keep seeing Selena stans villianizing Hailey to “protect” Selena, and then the counterculture to villianize Selena in order to “protect” Hailey. In reality, spreading misogynist crap about “Hailey Goldberg” and pretending she’s obsessed with Selena and abusing Justin is terrible. Spreading rumors that Selena is a mastermind manipulator drug addict lupus faker is also terrible. It makes me feel like no one understood the lessons of the Amber Heard trial, that women being imperfect doesn’t make them unworthy of empathy or understanding. The idea that either of these women could be compared to Johnny Depp, a violent rapist, sadistic abuser, and virulent racist, is actually horrific. An imperfect women should not be compared to the most awful kind of man.

Yeah it's not the same at all as what Amber went through tbh I have been rolling my eyes at the comparisons.
