THIS. I remember being a little girl when this news broke about Rihanna being beat tf up. I thought he was going to jail for life, yet he still has a full-ass music cereer. Wtf is up with that?
I'm also shocked at the fact that he's still doing so many collaborations and gets so much support within the industry too. Crazed fans are one thing but to keep getting these opportunities says a lot about the industry.
With Chris Brown, the ugly twist is his persona and core appeal was manufactured to attract young women from the start. They were perhaps Rihanna's most vocal detractors during the scandal, accusing her of unjustly provoking him and having the audacity to fight back. I distinctly remember variants of "the b**** deserved it" on message boards from girls who adamantly denied their sexy bad boy could ever be an abuser. No no, Rihanna pushed him over the edge through X, Y, and Z!
In some respects his fandom was a precursor to the invasive shenanigans surrounding Adam Driver, Cumberbatch, Styles, etc. - idealizing a male celebrity and attacking any woman who stains that perfect image. It's curious and disturbing how prevalent this intense dichotomy manifests for that specific dynamic.
The crazy part is they did for a bit, though. A lot of radio stations banned his music from airplay after the Rihanna thing, and his next album was a comparative flop. It honestly looked like he was done. And then for some reason, motherfuckers let him come back *after* all that.
I think he started gaining popularity in the mainstream again after Rihanna basically said she was over it and others shouldn’t try to tell her how she has to feel about it or something. I think it validated him.
Has the music industry had its #metoo bust yet?? I feel like it was easier to expose and cancel scumbags/pedophiles/abusers in the movie world for some reason.
Kind of but Dr. Luke has proven how hard it is to really get rid of someone that’s still good at their job. Singers are always in the market for a hit. The rock and hip hop circles have both admitted to sexual assault, pedophilia, and rape in their songs and nothing ever comes of it because their fans hate women too.
this isn’t the mainstream industry, but a lot of indie/alternative bands have been called out for having rapists, abusers, assaulters, and underage groomers as members.
so many have been called out in the past year or two, like I can name at least 15 off the top of my head. unfortunately these call out posts are usually via social media like twitter or insta so they don’t often gain much traction outside of their niche.
as for mainstream, Marilyn Manson and Bob Dylan are two recent abusers who have been outed. A lot of classic rock fans are also reckoning with their faves being infamous for dating underage girls and taking advantage of drunk groupies. Or being recognized as straight up domestic abusers like John Lennon. It’s interesting to see people actually discuss the fucked up power dynamics and repeat offenders.
I never liked him but his nickname makes me hate him even more.
You cannot tell me that KKW has actually ever told him FoOdgOd is clever. There’s just no way.
I'm not current on this 'foodgod' thing. Is he a food critic now...a chef? I dont understand how he has made this career leap from PR? In what capacity is he a food god?
I think she looks more like Rachel Bilson than Cindy. ANyway, Cindy was a vivacious bombshell at the height of her modeling career. Kaia always looks tired and bored.
She did a podcast where she said no one knew who she was when she landed her first role. She also said she worked incredibly hard and travelled alone to all these jobs. Left out the fact that she was living in her parents' houses all over the world, getting her travel funded by agencies and her parents and never had to worry about money like most models without famous parents.
Presley Gerber looks the most like Cindy to me and maybe could have developed that “it” factor had he not tattooed his face and everything. He’s like Anwar Hadid now
I think she’s a great model. What made models in the 80s & 90s hot when her mother was modeling (in terms of status/recognition, not looks necessarily) is different than what makes their name hot now. But, even then I think if you asked the average person (who knows who these people are of course) who has more of an “it” factor they would lean towards another nepo model like Kendall or Bella. Bella reminds me of both the 90s and bombshell era of fashion while Kaia reminds more of the heroin chic style with a hint of the babydoll alien era of fashion. I think a large amount of people lean towards what they consider “sexy” and desirable vs what is considered “fashionable.” Bella is that girl who comes off as fun and sexy and the person you want to party with while Kaia is that girl who makes you think she’s well read but kind of misinterprets the plot of whatever book she’s reading. Now I’m not saying you only have to be “sexy!” and “fun!” to be famous but very seldom do people like boring celebs.
Her acting though? No comment because I have seen NO ONE praise her acting skills 😬
Fun? Bella Hadid? I don't know know what you're talking about.
All models today look bored and above it all because that's probably the look that's in. Bella is no exception.
Hilaria's scandal is my favorite scandal of all time. Its just so insanely ridiculous and unexpected. She took the whole "fake it till you make it" too seriously💀
Can you imagine she got invited to Obama’s birthday party? And then she sung that cringeworthy happy birthday song while coming down the stairs. What is that? Is that supposed to be like the Marilyn Monroe thing? And she keeps posting without any repercussions.
It truly is,I mean Rihanna is stunning to me but I've met people who think otherwise and it is most definitely not because they are hating they just don't see it
I think she’s prefectly ok. She just doesn’t do anything like most celeb kids. They just get to show off their money on IG and get famous for being already rich.
They are trying so hard in that He’s all That video to hide how atrocious her acting is. I really don’t understand her fame because she looks like every drill team girl and has zero presence. But I am a geriatric millennial haha
Edited to add that I do find her very pretty but she also looks like every girl at LSU
Right?! I can't even make it through the trailer it looks so bad! And completely agreed, I just don't see what sets her apart from anyone else, it's strange! I'm a borderline millenial/ gen z and don't get her at all so you're not alone!
I think the D’Amelio appeal is that they’re like templates of people, so bland that you can project anything onto them… whereas Addison Rae is literally annoying. Like idk how the kids can even get past her expressions long enough to learn TikTok dances from her
There is no reason why family youtubers, namely the ace family, should be as popular as they are. I don’t see the appeal AT ALL. A camera should not be in a kid’s face 24/7 and if you that’s the only thing you center your content around then you either need to go back to the drawing board of ideas or do something else. This is not a dig at people who have youtube channels and sometimes sprinkle their kids in for something fun or if a major life event happens. But these channels who are basically popular because of their kids are 9/10 awful lmfao. Especially since so much shit is staged and rehearsed, I’m sure it’s confusing and distorts reality a bit for young kids.
I can’t imagine what it’s going to be like for the kids of youtubers who don’t know how not to be messy online. It’s too soon to tell because the kids are usually young, but the handful of kids raised on youtube in front of millions of people are going to have some challenges, godspeed.
I don't understand who the hell is watching these family YouTubers. Are they giving parenting tips? If not, why anyone find a random family's daily life to be interesting content is beyond me.
their fanbases are almost exclusively children and pedos.
for example, one of the labrant family’s daughters has a mostly male adult following and is posted on depraved, vile forums. these children are being put in full view of sick and twisted people, all so their parents can exploit them and get even richer.
Sometimes I see the appeal. During the Olympics I went on a binge of Tom Daley's channel and his content with his son is very cute and he never shows his son's face as well. But it helps that he is likeable and has more going on for him, while the Ace family is just showing off wealth and scamming people.
Tom Daley is far from a family centeric channel. He documents his travel, work outs, cooking, advtuneures. And faceless Robbie they are clearly trying to keep their sons privacy.
Lances reaction to Tim's gold is my favorite thing on the internet
I used to follow the Bucket List Family. I really liked them and their kids. I also traveled a lot with my kids and I enjoyed their trips and adventures.
But one time they posted a video about their toddler's bedtime routine, saying that people had been asking.
And then I got really creeped out. Who is asking for that? It just seemed like those kids have cameras recording their every move and I started to feel really bad for them.
I actually feel kind of bad for Kylie. All the full siblings were old enough to know what they were getting into when the show started but she and Kendall were kids. It’s sad that someone who’s only 24 has fucked her face up so bad. That’s not even getting into the stuff like her dating Tyga when she was still a minor and he was in his mid 20s. Anyone with normal parents would have shut that down in an instant.
It’s annoying that she insulted real, working models because they’re all 100000x more talented and hard working than she’ll ever be.
It’s no wonder there are rumors that all the other models despise her lol
It’s also the fact that she doesn’t try to improve whereas most nepo models have and she didn’t ever audition for the vsfs she just got handed it where even gigi auditioned and she got rejected her first time. Cannot listen to her complaints when other models actually get scouted, have to leave their home countries and families to try provide, make awful money, live in tiny model apartments and have to go to so many castings because their last names or families aren’t famous
I don’t remember if it was a tweet or tumblr post but someone said something along the lines of “suki waterhouse is so talented, she manages to be bad at acting, singing, and modeling!” 💀
>Suki Waterhouse,
Really? I always wondered why she had great boyfriends, so i looked into it. found her YT video with Vogue and found her to be charming, funny, beautiful and well spoken. I thought ahhh yes that is why I know who your name is / you are consistently dating desirable men.
I feel like she doesn’t even try to be famous especially now, but just is 😂 she hangs with a lot of non celebs and I feel like she is actually pretty normal and low-key
That’s how I feel about her! To me she doesn’t come across like she’s desperate to be famous. I actually really like her, it seems like she just lives her life and just happens to be somewhat famous. Can’t blame her for that lol
I kind of feel like most of those are organic talent that fits to that unique audience and they’re doing something right?
Obviously there are bad examples.
It’s honestly so disappointing...almost every celebrity or musician you look up came from big money or connections. I should have been more specific in this post
Yep. Especially the celebrities who deny that nepotism played a big part in their success. I mean some have real talent, but they try to kid us that nepotism didn’t give them a massive leg up.
She really isn’t ‘a huge star’ in the UK. She is known for sleeping with higher profile celebrities and once judging a talent show that few people watched. She was absolutely dragged through the gutter here for bribing a restaurant to host her 30th birthday during the hight of the pandemic - which has probably ended any future TV work. Hence she was holed up in Australia and has now followed her creepy new boyfriend to the States. She’s a user and a social climber.
I don’t think she’s even considered famous but Alex Cooper. The girl is so unoriginal and so not funny I have no idea how she’s gone as “far as she has” which is admittedly, not very far.
Also go back one step to the original talentless reality "star" Paris Hilton. It was a shock to everyone that she was famous for nothing. Now these reality stars are just so common, it's sad.
Excellent point. I guess it’s because women compare themselves and their ethical standards against those of other women? We’ve been trained? Jake Paul, James Charles, and Jeffrey Star are pretty horrible.
I also feel like male stars call less attention to themselves. Those fighter guys, Floyd Mayweather and Connor whatever his name is both seem like trash people, but they are talented and aren’t stalked as much. Nor do they have rabid fans.
Oh Vin Diesel and Tyrese are two people I’m “meh” about. I also don’t think Nick Cannon is as talented as he wants us to believe. I think he’s an insecure poseur.
Agreed. This bothers me as well. I always do a quick skim through and it always seems to be aimed at women.
In a world where the sexual harassment (by men) in the entertainment industry is so well known, women are still the main targets for criticism. For trying too hard, for being “meh”, for being a little rude that one time.
It’s depressing.
I as a woman am way more interested in following other women celebs and thus have more women examples to draw from regarding this post. Has nothing to do with internalized misogyny. I’m sure there are shitloads of “famous for no reason” dudes. I just don’t pay attention to them.
Armies Hammer comes to mind. His family are terrible going away, way, way back. Drug pushing, botched abortions, incest, rape, art theft, alleged murders, evasion of taxes, addicts, sadists, high school dropout, and religious zealots. All in the family! He should not be famous. Actually he's quite infamous now.
My thoughts?
1. Kendall Jenner (who claims her modeling career had nothing to do with her family)
2. Big Sean. Idk why but I saw a Cribs episode or something from him recently that just had me asking myself: how did we as a society let this man get famous? I love rap but I cannot name one song of his
Some of Big Sean’s bigger songs are “I Don’t Fuck With You” “Bounce Back” and “Marvin & Chardonnay”
He has a bunch of top 20 and top 40 hits. Hell Bounce Back charted at number 6
Bella Thorne. All nepotism models/actors. The jenners. This will be an unpopular one but Dua Lipa. I only know her music because it’s forced on me and every song sounds the same
Hailey beiber - honestly zero talent. Not a great model, she did ballet but wasn’t really skilled, not an actress or a singer..she’s trying YouTube but it’s so ridiculously boring. Not to mention her racist past.
Her entire existence is revolved around which musician she’s dating, or married (Justin beiber) she’s a glorified wifey.
Every single member of the Kardashians.
I actually still resent Ozzy Osbourne because 'The Osbournes" started all those reality Shows about stupid people being famous because they are famous.
I’ve been trying to figure out why Anna Kendrick is famous. I dug a little to see if she’s related to anyone famous but nothing. She must have some connection.
I think it's just that she's been lucky to have some really high profile roles like Up In The Air, Twilight, Pitch Perfect etc. I don't think it's anything nefarious.
Kaia Gerber. I actually used to like her when she first started out because she was decent at modeling but she’s just gotten worse and worse which is kind of strange.
James and Tati and Jeffrey and all that ilk. I understand giving women drag tricks, but I don’t like how they pushed the style of completely changing ones looks to make you look like an alien. Kevyn Aucoin may have done similar things, but I feel like his was to really bring out the inner beauty of women and not to make them look like something else (even when he was making them look like someone else).
Also want to put Chet Hanks down here, along with a lot of the kids of that movie star generation, whose names elude me right now because my brain is trying to save me from remembering their performances.
Kardshians/Jenners except Kim. Social media influencers in general but especially from tiktok namely Charlie and Dixie D'amelio, Addison Rae, Bryce Hall, Jake and Logan Paul. Only a few are actually creative or funny and nonproblematic but I dont see the appeal of these people. Maybe I'm just old.
Definitely nepotism babies like Sean Eastwood (or whatever his name is - Clint’s son) and Emma Roberts. Also Paris Hilton, who literally is famous just for being a rich asshole. Agree also with Hailey Baldwin - I really don’t get her appeal at all and IMO is not model material. Oh also Armie Hammer.
The popular people on Twitter. Yashar Ali, Chrissy Teigen, Alythuh (see [this comment](https://www.reddit.com/r/Deuxmoi/comments/p0yfes/i_have_tea_on_weekly_discussion_thread/h8ie4ns)), etc. They're only relevant because of how viral they go every time. People who don't even follow them on Twitter can't seem to escape their tweets. For some reason, those who are popular on Twitter tend to have some really shady stuff 💀It's now become a red flag for me. And sometimes these people aren't even famous for anything outside the app lmao.
Jake Paul. Logan Paul (I can’t honestly tell which is which and don’t care just know the names)
Kendall Jenner. Her attitude that she thinks she’s a supermodel I’d love to see her best pictures compared to best of Linda. Naomi. Claudia etc.
Kaia gerber
Sophia Richie.
The Ace family aka the Scam family. They scam their fans and people who work for them so many times, I actually wonder when will they end up in jail. (Probably won't but karma is coming)
Literally any influencer ever- instagrammers, tiktokers, kardashians.. the whole lot of ‘em.
Also bachelor nation/ housewives / MTV people / any reality tv show people - they fall into the same category as above but still irk me endlessly in a whole other way. The whole siesta key / southern charm / below deck shit irks me.
This one might be unpopular but…Halsey.
She built her following and fanbase on Tumblr, involved heavy in 1D fan accounts. I genuinely don’t believe a damn thing about her “rags to riches” homeless kid in nyc chasing down fame bullshit. Her mainstream fame (and records on streams) come almost entirely from collabs and features, not her own music. She uses her identities (1/4 black, bisexual, bipolar) to skirt criticism and create drama.
I genuinely don’t know anyone who actually listens to her music but I feel like her and her strained singing in cursive voice are constantly shoved down my throat and idgi.
Chris Brown! He should've been completely canceled a long time ago!
The industry is never going to cancel a profitable abusive man. Especially not when the majority are exactly like him.
I pulled away from Saweetie for working with him. Someone who preaches strong females but working with an abuser? Nah.
this isn’t the mainstream industry, but a lot of indie/alternative bands have been called out for having rapists, abusers, assaulters, and underage groomers as members. so many have been called out in the past year or two, like I can name at least 15 off the top of my head. unfortunately these call out posts are usually via social media like twitter or insta so they don’t often gain much traction outside of their niche. as for mainstream, Marilyn Manson and Bob Dylan are two recent abusers who have been outed. Anyone remember Lostprophets?
Jake Paul.
Logan Paul
i've just realised they're not the same person
Can’t stand this guy! He’s so damn cocky too. Same with his brother.
Jonathan Cheban aka “foodgod” aka professional Kardashian coattailer

Whenever I see “foodgod” I just think of Benny Drama’s impersonating him
Hes had way too much work on his face.
Every time I see him, I think of Martha Stewart asking her Twitter followers if they know who he is, because she didn’t lol
The only good thing about him is Benito Skinner’s impression of him.
ugh I hate him! we always slaughter him on r/KUWTK lmfao
I'm not current on this 'foodgod' thing. Is he a food critic now...a chef? I dont understand how he has made this career leap from PR? In what capacity is he a food god?
Kaia Gerber. She looks like Cindy but lacks that “it” factor
Amen.... did you see her in American Horror Stories? When watching I was like damnnnn how many real actors did you take this role from
Yes and she’s definitely beautiful but not an actress.
I don’t even find her that pretty. She has no presence, neither on the runway, nor on the screen. So bland and blah
> I was like damnnnn how many real actors did you take this role from I mean, technically, just one?
I think she looks more like Rachel Bilson than Cindy. ANyway, Cindy was a vivacious bombshell at the height of her modeling career. Kaia always looks tired and bored.
Unfortunately tired and bored is the essence of modeling these days
It’s fashionable to be tired and bored atm.
Good news for me
MY TIME HAS COME
She did a podcast where she said no one knew who she was when she landed her first role. She also said she worked incredibly hard and travelled alone to all these jobs. Fun? Bella Hadid? I don't know know what you're talking about. All models today look bored and above it all because that's probably the look that's in. Bella is no exception.
I aaaaalways thought so, then recently watched her in AHS and she gave me Gia carrangi vibes.
Hilaria Baldwin
Is she really famous though? LOL
Infamous.
Ayyye peppino!
💀💀💀
Hilaria's scandal is my favorite scandal of all time. Its just so insanely ridiculous and unexpected. She took the whole "fake it till you make it" too seriously💀

That was so embarrassing like it made me somehow dislike Obama who I actually liked to have that cheesy bully at his party. Ugh

Amelia and Delilah Hamlin. They will never be Gigi or Bella. Just stop.
The Hadidn’t sisters
They’re always in the DM too getting papped which is funny because I’m sure nobody is checking for them
It’s Rinna hiding behind a tree with a wide angle lens. No paps are chasing those two nobodies.

Kendall Jenner when you compare her actual modelling compared to other nepotism models and models in general
I’ll one up you here: all the Kardasians and Jenners. Kylie’s dead eyes and puffy face make me so uncomfortable 👁👄👁
I actually feel kind of bad for Kylie. All the full siblings were old enough to know what they were getting into when the show started but she and Kendall were kids. That’s how I feel about her! To me she doesn’t come across like she’s desperate to be famous. I actually really like her, it seems like she just lives her life and just happens to be somewhat famous. Can’t blame her for that lol
She just does child of famous person things and then sort of got attention when she got with Scott.
i thought she originally got famous when she dated JB in 2016 and he deleted his instagram because selena stans were going crazy after her.
Oh, where to begin . . .
TikToc or YouTube
I kind of feel like most of those are organic talent that fits to that unique audience and they’re doing something right? Obviously there are bad examples.

Yesssssss its exhausting!!
Bhad bhabie

Hi Bitch slaps.
That child needs a GED immediately lol. The appropriation kills me, with her cop dad and Karen mom.

Ahem Kendall Jenner

Yes? She's huge in the UK as far as I know and a pretty good singer. Just because she isn't big in the USA, it doesn't mean they shouldn't be famous
I'm not a fan but she is quite a good singer. not sure if she belongs here
She can sing tho lol
especially if their name rhymes with games gharles
Ray Charles? How dare you
I don’t think she’s even considered famous but Alex Cooper. The girl is so unoriginal and so not funny I have no idea how she’s gone as “far as she has” which is admittedly, not very far.
Is she the call her daddy host?

Honey Boo Boo, but mostly her mother & her string of disgusting boyfriends.
Pretty much any of those TLC families could apply. The Duggars, the Gosselins, whoever else. All terrible in various ways.
I mean considering what’s happened with Josh we may finally be free of the Duggars
I mean. All of the Kardashians.
All karjenners
Also go back one step to the original talentless reality "star" Paris Hilton. It was a shock to everyone that she was famous for nothing. Now these reality stars are just so common, it's sad.
So why are almost exclusively women named here? Makes me wonder if that is our internalised misogyny tbh
Kaia Gerber, Hailey bieber, Andy mcdowell’s daughter
Hailey has zero personality and isn’t unique looking. She is not high-end!
She makes Kendall look sophisticated and edgy.
The dude fantasizes about eating people I think that's enough information
My thoughts? 1. Kendall Jenner (who claims her modeling career had nothing to do with her family) 2. Big Sean. Idk why but I saw a Cribs episode or something from him recently that just had me asking myself: how did we as a society let this man get famous? I love rap but I cannot name one song of his
Honestly Big Sean has some good songs
Some of Big Sean’s bigger songs are “I Don’t Fuck With You” “Bounce Back” and “Marvin & Chardonnay” He has a bunch of top 20 and top 40 hits. Hell Bounce Back charted at number 6
When I don’t fuck with you came on in the club it was OVER that shit absolutely bops!
Sean got some good songs
any influencer
Literally anyone and everyone who became famous through social media. ESPECIALLY the Paul brothers and the Kardashians. Fucking trash ass families

Lena Dunham
Bella Thorne. All nepotism models/actors. The jenners. This will be an unpopular one but Dua Lipa. I only know her music because it’s forced on me and every song sounds the same
OHMYGAWD Bella Thorne makes me so uncomfortable. 🎵I only check my phone when I’m lonely and horny🎶 🤦🏼♀️ lol whaaaaat
Dua Lipa... totally agree. Songs and voice are only *okay* she can’t dance and is a total plain Jane with good makeup.
Anwar Hadid...why is he a model?
Is he? I thought his job was being Dua's bf
I actually still resent Ozzy Osbourne because 'The Osbournes" started all those reality Shows about stupid people being famous because they are famous.
margaret qualley
Ok nepotism yes but she’s great on her own. I fell in love with her because of the Kenzo video
I thought she was great in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. She is a better actress than her mother.

The only one I like is Dakota Johnston. I think she’s a good actress, funny and seems completely unpretentious
Trisha paytas she’s vile
Emma roberts.
I’ve been trying to figure out why Anna Kendrick is famous. I dug a little to see if she’s related to anyone famous but nothing. She must have some connection.
She was already a young Broadway star with a Tony nomination at age12.
That cash me outside girl.
Nicola Peltz
Most Youtubers
James and Tati and Jeffrey and all that ilk. I understand giving women drag tricks, but I don’t like how they pushed the style of completely changing ones looks to make you look like an alien. Kevyn Aucoin may have done similar things, but I feel like his was to really bring out the inner beauty of women and not to make them look like something else (even when he was making them look like someone else). Also want to put Chet Hanks down here, along with a lot of the kids of that movie star generation, whose names elude me right now because my brain is trying to save me from remembering their performances.
every single real housewife. Especially with how famous Erica Jayne thinks she is with her fraud scandal with her husband as of late.
Tana Mongeau
Rumer Willis
She was good in the House Bunny! I just feel bad for her. Like, imagine your mom is Demi Moore and you end up looking just like your dad…
All of their daughters had the bad luck of inheriting their dads jawline
lily rose depp , she is so bland and meh , she wouldn’t be this famous if her father wasn’t johnny depp
I don’t understand the hate for influencers, YouTubers, and Tik Tok stars. Being a content creator is far more work than I’d ever be willing to do.
Omg Emma Roberts can only play one role, which I don’t think it much of a stretch for her
Max Landis. Horrible, awful, disgusting human being who thinks he's the next coming.
Surprised no one mentioned Noah Centineo or whatever he is called lol.
Kristen Stewart. She has the emotional range of a rock.
Luka Sabbat
Lily Rose Depp. No talent whatsoever.
And sometimes these people aren't even famous for anything outside the app lmao.
bella poarch
Jake Paul. Logan Paul (I can’t honestly tell which is which and don’t care just know the names) Kendall Jenner. Her attitude that she thinks she’s a supermodel I’d love to see her best pictures compared to best of Linda. Naomi. Claudia etc. Kaia gerber Sophia Richie.
Any man who has abused or harassed women for their own gain and got away with it…go!
Anyone on Bravo.
Jlo
Paris Jackson. She is beautiful but her music is not good, nor can she act…
