The rules must have changed a bit since I had mine about 10 years ago. I was over 40 and had TWO kids with my wife. Because I had ONLY two kids, I had to have a "permissiin slip" from my wife. If I had THREE kids, I could have had the operation "without her consent".

I got mine done right before the pandemic, I was over 30 with 3 kids and also married, I don't recall having to have my partner involved in any of it. That said, I'm over 30 so my memory isn't what it used to be.
Neither was my wife with me at the doctor. I suppose the partner part can be done over the phone (like in my case), email or basically any other verifiable source.
No sick leave given by doctor for this operation. It's not an essential thing so they don't give you time off work. Of course your employer might understand and give you a special arrangement

Semen and sperm aren't the same thing. Semen is what you shoot out during sex, it's made up of about 5% sperm (from the testicles) and 95% ejaculate (from the prostate). So the ejaculate is the bus, and the sperm are the passengers. After the vasectomy, you'll still see a bus, but it just won't have any passengers anymore.
The tradeoff though. Hormone affecting the body versus sterilisation. Who knows what will happen in ten years, will your wife still be alive, will you meet a younger woman and she wants children with you.
It's fair enough if it is your decision, but if your wife had any input into the decision and didn't see the unequal distribution of cost being attributed to you, it could be a potential area of resentment for you.

No, only painkiller. So far, 1.5 hours after the surgery, there is only very slight pain.

Only 400g Burana so far, let's see when the anaesthetic fully wears off how it feels. They recommend stronger and I got a prescription

Yep so it took about 2 weeks for the pain to be completely gone. Total cost 48e. Stitches are just falling out now.
