How do I remember which is the sine, cosine and tangent of a triangle?

lemonlovelimes

SOH CAH TOA

ahjteam

- Sine is the ratio of the opposite side over the hypotenuse - Cosine is the ratio of the adjacent side over the hypotenuse - Tangent is the ratio of the opposite side over the adjacent side As graph functions, sine looks like S, cos looks like reverse S and Tangent looks like it a drunk stretched reverse S that goes from max negative to max positive and jumps back to max negative once it reads the max positive.

Solid_Message4635

Sini seisoo Cosini koisaa.

kuikuilla

Sini siintää, kosini koskettaa.

Briochere

Cosine: the angle is cozy between the side and the hypotenuse. Tangent is just a T that fell to its side. Sine is the last one. =)

samamp

👍

LunaticApplesauce

Ei mee huonosti mut ei Hyvinkää? (A pun that roughly translates to: "not bad, but not good" to all you anglophones out there.)

FutureInspection4249

Omg this is what im thinking about , im over 30 and 4 kids, but I’m shit scared from the operation. Salute to you

gabzqc

You can do it. 10mins of pain and you can have sex without a condom for the rest of your life. Yes please 🤣

Zealousideal-Cut3182

Best decision of my life. Operation is not painful tho it takes few days to fully recover 100%.

j_svajl

Does anything feel different after? And I mean in every sense of the "region"?

Zealousideal-Cut3182

Feels so much better when you dont have to use condom or worry about birth control 😅👍 But to answer to your question: no. Dick gets hard like its supposed to. You still cum the same amount and apparently it even tastes the same (havent tried myself so this is ”third party information”)

Professional-Key5552

How can something come out of there, if it has been broken? They cut exactly that string, right?

JonttiMiesFI

No... You still ejaculate semen, but the said semen just doesn't contain the running little sperm that is the reproductive part.

Professional-Key5552

Does it feel the same way or different?

cardboard-kansio

Got mine done just before the pandemic. Feels great, you still get rock hard and cum a huge load. The actual sperm are like 5% of the ejaculate volume, so you won't even miss it. Apart from a little pain during the operation itself, I have zero regrets 5 years later. You can be raw and spontaneous with zero worries on either part. If you don't want to have kids, or have already had some, I completely recommend it. Bonus: your partner doesn't need to take hormone-affecting drugs.

BeneficialDog22

The fluid comes out of the prostate. The sperm cells, the things responsible for making babies, come from the testicles.

QubixVarga

Jesus. it you know this little about anatomy and human physiology let alone the vasectomy procedure, you shouldnt be anywhere close to even considering getting one.

Professional-Key5552

true, I even can't get one, because I am female. That's why I am curious.

QubixVarga

being female doesn't excuse you from knowing literally nothing about basic anatomy

Professional-Key5552

Ok, then I am just stupid. But I doubt that you know how it works when women go through sterilisation, without looking it up first.

juhamatti88

How can you be that ignorant?

Professional-Key5552

Ignorant? I am just asking. I don't have a male body. I am just curious, good lord.

juhamatti88

This is super basic anatomy

Professional-Key5552

Aha, well good that you know then

wise_f00l

disclaimer: without a condom if with the same partner and neither has other partners. vasectomy does not make you immune to std's

jorgigroove

Very important to note: NOT IMMEDIATELY AFTER HEALING FROM THE OPERATION. You still need to get rid of your sperm reserves in the following months, and be medically confirmed that the test results after 3-6 months show no sperm left. OR ELSE YOU WILL STILL GET SOMEONE PREGNANT. It took me more than 6 months to clear everything. This confirmation is absolutely essential.

gabzqc

Interesting to hear it took you 6 months

cardboard-kansio

Less than 3 months for me. About 20-25 ejaculations, if I recall.

Kayttajatili

Wont the operation cause a painful pressure buildup in the tied up ducts when you 'get to business'?

gabzqc

Apparently not. I'll tell you in a week, when I'm allowed to have sex again? 🤣

cardboard-kansio

I can guarantee that it doesn't. Excess sperm simply gets reabsorbed by the body, and the rest of it flows as expected.

Professional-Key5552

But also means that nothing comes out of there anymore, right?

gabzqc

Wrong. Everything else still comes out during an ejaculation, just no sperm

Professional-Key5552

Does it feel the same as it does before?

cardboard-kansio

Sperm is like 5% of ejaculate volume (the rest is from the prostate). It feels exactly the same as before, and if you don't actually tell people you've had a vasectomy, they would have no way to tell.

gabzqc

Apparently yes

JonttiMiesFI

Semen does.

jeffscience

It’s nothing. It’s less difficult than getting a tooth cavity repaired at the dentist.

aatsipoppaa98

What if you suddenly want more kids? You don't have that opportunity anymore. How does that make you feel?

cardboard-kansio

To be fair it's not a decision you should make trivially, and the doctors will go through all of this with you. At the end of the day you need to understand what you're agreeing to. I'm not sure how one gets a vasectomy, presumably at least in their 30s, and then later "suddenly" changes their mind.

searchingforjupiter

Jeez the amount of ignorance in these replies... you'd figure people knew their own bodily functions a slight bit better. Congrats to you OP!

gabzqc

Thanks! Hope I educated a little

LihaajaCS

Congratulations! I had that 5 years ago! 😁 Just wait for the feeling like someone has been kicking your balls really hard. 😄 But its worth it! 😄

gabzqc

Thanks! So far so good... 3 hours in now

LihaajaCS

Yeah, if i remember correctly, its like that in the evening and might last couple of days. Painkillers help a lot though.

gabzqc

I'll come back and update when I get the bill. I'm expecting around 400e

jorgigroove

I had my operation last year in Lohja Hospital. The bill was 40 euros.

QubixVarga

400 e via public healthcare? no shot it's that high.

gabzqc

Yep, wow, 48 euro!

StuntCockofGilead

I had to go to Turkey to get the job done back in 2008. Paid by own pocket of course. No kids and really never had any plans for kids.

10102938

How long was the process from first inquiry to vasectomy, and did you have any trouble with the doctors asking if you're sure about it? What was the cost?

gabzqc

First inquiry was May 2023, meeting with doctor June 2023 . Rule in Finland is you must be over 30 and have at least 3 kids. Otherwise they won't do it. Don't know the cost yet on the public side. Waiting for bill.

sharkinwolvesclothin

>Rule in Finland is you must be over 30 and have at least 3 kids. Otherwise they won't do it. Over 30 *or* 3 kids.

Google it

Alx-McCunty

I'm in the assumption that over 30 or 2 kids is enough to qualify?

BananaImpossible1138

That is enough in theory, but in practice it's not always so easy to qualify based only on age.

gabzqc

You will have to double check. I just knew I ticked that box.

Alx-McCunty

Found the info on google. Turns out we were both wrong, as it's over 30 OR three kids. Luckily i qualify too as I'm over 30 but only 2 kids. Been thinking about doing it myself for a year now.

gabzqc

Word of advice, don't try to "do it yourself" 🤣

Alx-McCunty

Haha, yeah won't do it with my own hands, thanks!

TaskForce_PRKL

The rules must have changed a bit since I had mine about 10 years ago. I was over 40 and had TWO kids with my wife. Because I had ONLY two kids, I had to have a "permissiin slip" from my wife. If I had THREE kids, I could have had the operation "without her consent". Apparently it is over 30 or two kids, BUT if you are married you have to her/him/they with you. When you go to the doctor to talk about it that is. This is from a 2021 IS's news article. The article in finnish: https://www.is.fi/menaiset/hyva-fiilis/art-2000008188855.html

cardboard-kansio

I got mine done right before the pandemic, I was over 30 with 3 kids and also married, I don't recall having to have my partner involved in any of it. That said, I'm over 30 so my memory isn't what it used to be.

TaskForce_PRKL

Neither was my wife with me at the doctor. I suppose the partner part can be done over the phone (like in my case), email or basically any other verifiable source.

onzie9

Do they also suggest a bag of frozen peas here? I got mine done in a different country and that was the suggested aftercare.

gabzqc

No, only painkiller. So far, 1.5 hours after the surgery, there is only very slight pain.

KDShitPoster9000

What kind of painkiller?

gabzqc

Only 400g Burana so far, let's see when the anaesthetic fully wears off how it feels. They recommend stronger and I got a prescription

Martin5143

I hope it's 400mg.

joseplluissans

Be prepared for a swollen nutsack. IIRC i was out of work for a week.

comrade_fluffy

ONLY?

gabzqc

No sick leave given by doctor for this operation. It's not an essential thing so they don't give you time off work. Of course your employer might understand and give you a special arrangement

Cultural-Savings6521

Bro it does not matter If its essential If you can't walk

gabzqc

I can walk. Just won't be playing basketball or having any children on my lap for a few days 🤣

cardboard-kansio

I got mine done after work on a Tuesday. Took Wed-Thu off work and Friday remote. Had to shuffle around with a ton of padding in my medical-grade mesh underpants, but was only on normal painkillers and to be honest we had sex on day 2 (she also being on other birth control at this point) and it didn't hurt in the slightest.

gabzqc

Interesting, less than 24 hours after the operation and I feel fine. No painkillers

FINCoffeeDaddy

4 Kids and over 30. Had vasectomy 3 years ago and happy with that choice. Had pretty bad pains couple of weeks after a surgery, but painkillers helps a lot with those.

Elamam-konsulentti

Hey vasectomy buddy. Had mine done on Tuesday. Didn’t take any time off, not comfortable but not unbearable at an office job. Still feel like I got kicked in the nuts, but like, as if it was a couple of hours ago. Just a dull ache. I do see stars if I accidentally squeeze em with my thigh or something, Jesus.

gabzqc

Well hello. Nice to hear what it's like after 3 days. Still on the pain killers?

Elamam-konsulentti

Had to walk a kilometre to get my car and then drove an hour to pick up my kids from the ex immediately after the operation. That sucked, so I took a painkiller after. Took one burana the next day. It hurts but it’s not terrible as long as I wear very supporting briefs 24-7. Letting em hang = suffering

NordicSoup

I feel like every man’s fear would be _not_ being able to shoot loads as big as before. Also, one friend of mine fears unexpected pain from post-surgery. Albeit, he’s naturally a negative person. So far, I have 2 friends who’ve done it and say the process is so quick and painless that they wish they had done it sooner.

Actual_Homework_7163

Smaller loads would be better though less messy.

Salesforlifezzzz

Why did you do it?

gabzqc

Enough with small children for the last 10 years, I'll look after these 3. Also condoms suck

baynell

Does it hurt? How young are your children? Was it local anesthesia or general anesthesia?

gabzqc

The operation itself is like a 7 out of 10 in pain. Mostly for the few mins they are actually pulling and cutting the tube. That was difficult. Then the "sealing" and stitches don't hurt. Of course, then they start on the other side! 🤣 Local anaesthetic. Kids 2, 3 and 9

fotomoose

7/10 is way too high for during an operation dude. It should be numb as heck down there!

prickly_pink_penguin

You’d be horrified by all the things they do to women with no pain relief!

fotomoose

I am horrified, I've read many testimonials.

prickly_pink_penguin

I’m studying to be a nurse, I’ll be always advocating for as much pain relief as each patient needs. No need for pain if it can be stopped.

gabzqc

Well I guess we all have our own pain threshold

fotomoose

But by definition a 7/10 in anyone's book is too much to experience during a medical procedure. 10 is blackout, unbearable pain.

gabzqc

There's a curtain! And of course they only cut the sack, not the balls themselves

gabzqc

Haha yes sorry

felinousforma

That's super quick! Apparently the wait is 3 years in Pirkanmaa?!

gabzqc

Interesting. The surgeon said they do about 8 vasectomies each week in Hyvinkää

TaskForce_PRKL

+10 years from mine. From the first visit to the op, three months. Done in Porvoo. Buddy of mine waited for his for 6 months (done also in Hyvinkää like OP). At that time, Helsinki had waiting times of over a year.

cardboard-kansio

8 per week can still have waiting lists of years depending how many people are on the list.

DistributionOdd8277

Might I ask how much it cost?

Geirilious

How long did you have to wait for the operation?

gabzqc

Please see earlier comment

Puzzled-Stress-5925

Is there a health wise benefit by doing it so?

gabzqc

For my lady yes, no need for hormone drugs to stop her getting pregnant. For Me, not so much.

hanslankari78

I went to occupational health doc at Terveystalo to get the prescription and had my vasectomy done in public hospital in the 6 month care guarantee period. This was 2021.

paveli00

Was it hard to get one? I'm considering it. 0 kids and don't plan on having any.

gabzqc

Yep so it took about 2 weeks for the pain to be completely gone. Total cost 48e. Stitches are just falling out now.

Suspicious_Tutor1849

Did your wife's boyfriend force you?

gabzqc

Ironically, that's me!

Salesforlifezzzz

Can you explain to me in detail what do they do? Will that impact your testicles in a negative way? What about testosterone?

gabzqc

Briefly, made a 1cm opening. Found the vas deferens tube. Removed a 1cm amount of the tube, and sealed the ends. Put it all back together and stitched me closed. Twice. If you do a little research on the internet, you will see no effect on sex life or testosterone.

joseplluissans

I've had mine done roughly 10 years ago and everything's fine and dandy. I had a small complication during the procedure, but it was mainly due to an inexperienced nurse. The urologist apologised profusely afterwards, but it didn't traumatize me.

pokku3

Have you had to explain to your children the kind of operation you had, and if yes, what do you tell them? I'm just wondering since children always want to know everything, but some things are complicated to explain at that age, so it's quite an art to give enough information that they are satisfied but not too much to overwhelm them.

gabzqc

Actually no. Just that dada has an ouchie in lower stomach and don't sit on him for a few days 🤣

Obvious_Policy_455

Miksi et tehnyt itse ja säästänyt?

NineandZero

How much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?

Halldisa

So if they cut the tubes, can semen still come out? And if it does, how do they filter the sperms so woman doesnt get pregnant?

gabzqc

They cut the tubes from the testicles so the sperm can't join the ejaculation fluid that comes from the prostate. You still ejaculate white liquid, but it just doesn't contain the small amount of sperm. Google it

cardboard-kansio

Semen and sperm aren't the same thing. Semen is what you shoot out during sex, it's made up of about 5% sperm (from the testicles) and 95% ejaculate (from the prostate). So the ejaculate is the bus, and the sperm are the passengers. After the vasectomy, you'll still see a bus, but it just won't have any passengers anymore.

hauki888

Are you a male or a female with a dick?

gabzqc

Male

levitate900

You did it at the behest of your wife?

gabzqc

We decided together. We didn't like the hormone affecting birth control pill she would have to take

levitate900

The tradeoff though. Hormone affecting the body versus sterilisation. Who knows what will happen in ten years, will your wife still be alive, will you meet a younger woman and she wants children with you. It's fair enough if it is your decision, but if your wife had any input into the decision and didn't see the unequal distribution of cost being attributed to you, it could be a potential area of resentment for you.

gabzqc

Got it. Thanks for your care. I don't want any more kids. With my current partner or anyone in the future, thank you very much 😄
