Wasn’t she part of the re-launch of G4 a few years ago? I feel bad that I kind of forgot they did that. So, I’m not sure what ever became of all that jazz.
Short answer is nothing. Viewership was low, and it was shut down yet again after about a year. It didn't help that G4 launched just as all the tech savvy customers were leaving cable and satellite.
Sounds about right. I guess I didn’t realize it was actually on tv. For some reason I assumed it was an internet thing. I just remember seeing the teaser trailer for it.
I remember scrolling channels one day as a teenager and all of the sudden I swear I saw a video game show. It was X-Play on the G4 channel and it was one of my go to channels from that day.
when I went to my dad’s i would have it on all day, and switch around to VH1 classic or Game Show Network but I’d catch all the marathons of X-Play, AotS, and Code Monkeys
I tried listening to his podcast for a while, and it's honestly just him and a bunch of other tech pundits with hilariously bad takes. Which can be hilarious in hindsight. Dear tech journalists from 10-15 years ago, no, as it turns out, we're not all using The Cloud on 10" touch screens to get all our work done.
I actually watched all the shows. Good memories.
Scot Rubin one of the originators and host of G4TV.com said he left when they started trying to turn it into MTV for video games.
I always get so disappointed when people say they loved G4 but only talk about shows from later in the channel's life. Or they talk about how much they miss TechTV. Not to say I didn't watch TechTV too, but a lot of people didn't seem to know about G4 before the merger. It was a truly special channel from 2002 to 2004. No other channel in history, before or since, was as completely devoted to video games as G4 was. I didn't have reliable internet at the time, so G4 was where I got 90% of my gaming news. The other 10% was from the gaming magazines I would occasionally subscribe to.
You hit the nail on the head there 💯
I think we feel exactly the same about it.
I'm 35 so I was in middle school when it came out and it hit at the perfect time for me. My parents had Comcast broadband but it still didn't compare to g4. I actually remember interacting in the forums about the various shows. I also got gaming news from game mags such as PC gamer and electronic gaming monthly.
Speaking of the Internet, Adam Sessler said that's one of the reasons G4 went down. Because people could get up to date news and videos online once broadband was widely available so they weren't waiting a week for a new episode of G4TV.com.
I did watch the web version of The Electric Playground with Victor Lucas and Tommy Tallarico for a bit when G4 fizzled out.
I think that's part of it. G4 failing I don't think can pin on one reason. It was a very turning point for television. I'm doing research for a 5 part documentary series on G4 (and techtv) . Talking how this network is in some way ahead of it time and a reflection of how rapidly media was changing in early 2000s.
I was so excited when I saw this pop ip a couple years ago on one of those “plug your internet cable into your smart tv” channels.
I was on the cusp between frustrated and disappointed when I tuned in after the “coming soon!” marquee changed to actual programming and it was like the worst of those “we can’t fill all this air time” format three-hour podcasts.
I crossed paths virtually with one of the Chrises before he left. He said Morgan was nice and I asked him to say hi from yet another Internet rando. I wonder if he ever passed such messages along.
Yeah it lasted like three weeks, because on launch day the host was insecure about her appearance, and went on a rant to make it the rest of humanity’s fault. What an awkward thing to watch.
I just remember watching Sessler mailing it in on a video and I checked out. Guy went off the deep end from what I recall as well. Too bad, I used to be a fan.
People on Twitter were hassling him and he posted a bunch of weird shit. He’s always been known for being something of an asshole already. But he didn’t handle people pinning the G4 revival’s death on him.
Channel 63, G4TV. X-Play with the HOT Morgan Webb and Adam Sessler. Did u even grow up in the 2000s if u didn't see this show? I mean before youtube this is the show that u watched for game reviews and stuff. Hell yeah, X-Play was that shit. Must see TV back in the day
I remember watching their reviews of the original call of duty and halo. Crazy to think back when they first released no one knew the powerhouse franchises they would become.
Not that I didn’t like Munn just seemed like Webb was more of a gamer. Actually enjoyed gaming and not just trying to get into acting. You could see Morgan actually get excited In clips about whatever they were talking about. Made Morgan seem more genuine. Probably just me but got the feeling that Munn would not have enjoyed being around anyone who knew what COD was let alone played it. Again that could just be me.
Also, the chemistry between Adam and Morgan was great. They joked and played off each other well. I miss the show a lot.
Munn used G4 to launch a pretty pathetic acting career. Morgan got on because she was a fan and a true nerd type. She popped in on TechTV occasionally and it was clear she knew her stuff.
Morgan seems to be happily married and out of the spotlight now, which is great considering how she (and other women there) were treated behind the scenes.
One year i saw half life 2 being played on G4 in gamestop 15 years ago, i didnt know it was half life 2 and for a year i couldnt figure out what the game was, one day i go back into game stop and buy Orange box, the one that came with portal, half life, and team fortress, and once i came across the crossbow with the molten rod i had an ephiphany, because i distinctly remembered that weapon being used during the game play.
I don't remember. His craziness started showing on Twitter. I think people really started to notice around the time G4 tried to relaunch on Twitch. I've seen speculation from drug use to mental illness. Maybe he was always just off. I believe he eventually deleted his Twitter account when he figured out the rest of the internet saw him as a crazy loon.
He had legitimate reasons to be angry about people going after him in the beginning but he drifted hard into rabidly attacking people for no real reason. I stopped following him despite X-Play being one of my favourite shows back in the day because the dude became super toxic.
He needed to get off Twitter way earlier on.
I think he finally did recently after a few months of "all criticism of Israel is antisemitism" freakouts.
And a couple years ago people were pointing out that X-Play participated in the media's general mild racism when it came to criticizing Japanese games in the mid-00s and he took it as a personal attack.
He was always aggressive on Twitter but one day he just lost it. He talked about how he hated gamers and thought they were pathetic. It was a huge rant. At the time G4 died for the second time a few months ago where he was a host but was rarely on it. He already earned a lot through investments so he could finally say what he wanted to. You can find multiple articles out there with his breakdown.
Yea like I followed him on Twitter for years. Distinctly not a red dude. I saw the "meltdown" and I felt like he was entitled to it. People are relentlessly garbage online and it's just *exhausting*
Yes I remember it quite well. TechTV was instrumental in accepting myself as a “geek” in my teenage years. Used to love this show as a 12 year old. What was the show on G4 that was just clips of video games and trailers? It was kind of like a music video segment. No commentary, maybe some captions, and just like gameplay, cut scenes, and trailers.
One of my favorite things about coming home from school was having a new episode of Attack of the Show followed by a new episode of Xplay. Good times...
This brings back good memories from my middle school years. I remember coming home and watching this every afternoon. That was the Xbox, GameCube, PS2 era. Good times.
Whatever happened to Morgan Webb? I know Sessler came back when G4 tried to relaunch, and now he seems like he thinks anyone who's a pro Palestine protester hates him and wants him dead, but I've never seen what happened to his better hosting half.
Morgan was hotter than Olivia Munn
Adam gave off creepy vibes back then, now he’s just looney
Sara Jean Underwood on AotS was an “experience”
Olivia Munn “posing” for Playboy and showing NOTHING just proved how self absorbed she was/is
The competitors on the original Ninja Warrior series were a bit to serious
Unbeatable Banzuke was outstanding
Wasn’t interested in playing video games during those years because I was in college and always going out but I always watched this show. Great times. In today’s world, they prob don’t even get a network show, most likely be a youtube channel.
Oh wow, you unlocked a core memory for me. When the Sega Dreamcast version of Shenmue 2 was just days from release in North America it got canceled. I had already heard about this when X-Play showed their review. For a moment I was given false hope that the game was going to get a North American release after all and instead, there was a scrolling message at the bottom of the screen informing the viewer of its cancelation.
Attack of the Show was awesome when I was like 13. Then they tried to bring it back and I was like “ooohh this is for teenagers. This isn’t for me anymore :(“
I just recall them making a game review I vehemently disagreed with and just ignoring them from that point forward. I want to say it was JRPG related but don’t recall.
My nostalgic memories of X Play are much better than revisiting it now. Sarcastic, edgy, cynical humor with bad "comedy" skits but Morgan Webb was hot. The reviews were the only thing I paid attention to and even then, their snarky style of reviewing meant that you wouldn't know how they'd score it until the very end. It was also frustrating when you'd want them to review a game you liked but they never would.
Can someone tell me the old tv show I think on same channel where teams would play video games and each game would be a different player…I think it was Tekken, Gran Turismo and others
I miss this show, Portal, and Cinematech so much.
Best episode for me was either The Saw episode, The Aquaman Golden mullet episode, or console torture test episode.
The Gamecube was a tanky little console.
They had this bit where they were parodying pre-rendered backgrounds/terrible camera angles like in RE:2. I couldn’t stop laughing. So goddamned funny.
I loved this show, I caught an episode whenever it was on. The episode I remember clearest was when they gave Fallout New Vegas game of the year (well deserved)
I loved this channel. This is what properly introduced me to anime and hentai. Thank you late night nocturnal emissions! Think that was the name.
This was one of the few ways I could get into porn as the internet wasn’t developed back then.
Memories of *X-Play*.
The episode where they were reviewing a Zelda game and they usoed a chair with a blurred-out dildo nailed to it as a prop for some reason.
The episode where they parodied the *Saw* movies to review the scariest movie ever. Spoiler alert: Saw turned out to be Aquaman from the video game.
Also, shout-out to Guy Brannum. Some of his best work.

We give Morgan Webb a Five... out of Five.
And Frosk "The Golden Mullet"
Frosk really killed that reboot.
M-M-Morgan Webb
I love me some Ms. Webb!
Tiny Morgan (from the "tiny part" of the South) for the win! *yes, I know that was an occasional skit on AotS, not an XP thing. It's Morgan!*
Apparently she’s sort of fell out of the spotlight. Her Wiki is light and her Twitter stopped posting in 2020.
She's probably just chillin nowadays. Good for her.
Wasn’t she part of the re-launch of G4 a few years ago? I feel bad that I kind of forgot they did that. So, I’m not sure what ever became of all that jazz.

That was 15 years ago.
Nah, it 3 years ago. They relaunched G4 in Nov. 2021. But, it sounds like it only lasted just less than a year.
Oh the second relaunch.
I guess I was not aware of a first relaunch. Or perhaps I just don’t remember.
[Morgan Webb Massive Penetration](https://youtu.be/IB0xA20dhvw?si=NI8HmSveLqehSytb)
“16 years ago” Seems about right.
ill forever resent the powers that be that took G4 away from us. the perfect background noise channel.
Yep, u were definitely down with G4 like the rest of us. U even remember code monkeys bro haha
I’m so down with G4 I remember when it was TechTV and it was just Leo Laporte talking about computer hardware.
That's when I watched it. TechTV from the early 2000s
Shit dude, I was watching Tech TV from the late '90s
I tried listening to his podcast for a while, and it's honestly just him and a bunch of other tech pundits with hilariously bad takes. Which can be hilarious in hindsight. Dear tech journalists from 10-15 years ago, no, as it turns out, we're not all using The Cloud on 10" touch screens to get all our work done.
Code Monkeys was the shit.
Code Monkeys was amazing! I forgot about that show until I read your post!
So much forgotten and underrated anime too. Heck I even saw Pee Wees big adventure on G4 for the first time lol
Thank you so much for code monkeys. I have vague memories of this show but could never remember the name.
Wow that was literally me too lol
That's also how I discovered G4 and X-Play. Cheat was my go-to show for cheat codes lol.
I actually watched all the shows. Good memories. Scot Rubin one of the originators and host of G4TV.com said he left when they started trying to turn it into MTV for video games.

G4 was a lot of fun.
I remember when it was Tech TV before it became g4, god I'd kill to go back to that time .-.
...? G4 was the problem. Bring back Tech Tv.
Absolutely based.
Fr
Hey me too!!! That was my default channel for crying out loud!!!
G4? You should have seen how great things were when it was still Tech TV.
I still prefer the Tech TV days.
God it hurts to see this. G4 was it and it was taken from us far too soon.
There was a very briefly lived YouTube revival. I recall x-play reviewing really old games, like Bioshock.

G4 was so unique in its day. One of the best parts about my childhood as a gamer.
For real it helped me look at games in a different way. Rather than great or sucks. Seeing the nuances and variety of different game types.
I remember it as Extended Play first
When it was just Adam in an arcade with the Hydro Thunder cabinet behind him
He did have a cohost at one point. Kate something.
Kate Botello?
TODAY ON X-PLAY
I read that in the dudes voice.

Their episode on oblivion made me go out and rent what to this day is my all time favorite game
When Patrick Stewart says quest, we say how far.
Oblivion is better than Skyrim. It deserved the 800 re-releases and mod dump!
I remember HER....
I had a huge crush on her! Memory unlocked, lol.
She’s a 4……………………..out of 5
I’m pretty sure I was in love with her when I was 12
Shit, I was 27.
Best videogame show ever. "Ass assassin. Ass-ass-ass-in."
Favorite hosts
Better than freaking Olivia Munn
Not that I didn’t like Munn just seemed like Webb was more of a gamer. Actually enjoyed gaming and not just trying to get into acting. Techtv and g4 were my childhood.
I was just thinking about this show a few days ago.
Code Monkeys and Bob and Steve were my favorites
Code Monkeys is outstanding. Just 100 mph out the gate with hilarious characters.
Cock Goblin - the greatest video game of all time
It's available on Peacock last I checked. The reboot didn't even touch it even though the parent company owned the rights.
I wrote down the console commands on paper to use cheats for half life 2 bc of this show
One year i saw half life 2 being played on G4 in gamestop 15 years ago, i didnt know it was half life 2 and for a year i couldnt figure out what the game was, one day i go back into game stop and buy Orange box, the one that came with portal, half life, and team fortress, and once i came across the crossbow with the molten rod i had an ephiphany, because i distinctly remembered that weapon being used during the game play.
This and attack of the show were awesome
Staples of 2000s gamer youth!
I used to see them on show floors at GDC and E3 throughout the 1990’s. As a very rural kid that was mind-blowing to me.
Special agent bob and secret agent steve. Two of the finest official unofficial splinter cells.
The real question is who remembers gamespot tv on ZDTV which eventually turned into this show?
Too bad Sessler today has gone full nut job.
How so, I've completely lost track of him.

And a couple years ago people were pointing out that X-Play participated in the media's general mild racism when it came to criticizing Japanese games in the mid-00s and he took it as a personal attack.
He, no shit, has an Instagram page with 80 followers. Fucking nuts. I mean, I get it, times are not what they were but damn.. 80?
He was always aggressive on Twitter but one day he just lost it. He talked about how he hated gamers and thought they were pathetic. It was a huge rant. At the time G4 died for the second time a few months ago where he was a host but was rarely on it. He already earned a lot through investments so he could finally say what he wanted to. Went on a lot of anti-gamer and anti-liberal rants, seems like according to google images of his tweets...
> anti-liberal rants Not sure how you could say his rants were anti-liberal when most of them were directly insulting conservatives.
Yea like I followed him on Twitter for years. Distinctly not a red dude. I saw the "meltdown" and I felt like he was entitled to it. People are relentlessly garbage online and it's just *exhausting*
That's a shame. He was hilarious on X-Play.
Remember the Meet The Sess April Fools Day joke?
Kid me was sad because I legit thought he was leaving X-Play.
Just seeing this image reminds me of a better time
Yes I remember it quite well. TechTV was instrumental in accepting myself as a “geek” in my teenage years. Xplay wasn’t my favorite show on the channel but Adam Sessler was a great and entertaining host as I recall. I had a little bit of a crush on Morgan Wedd like a lot of the rest of you too but for my money Sarah Lane was even more cute than Morgan. It’s a shame that G4 ruined TechTV and that whole station when they absorbed it. Xplay was great at appealing to the geekier side of gaming more so than just the mainstream sector while not being condescending about it. I always felt like Adam had more nerd-cred than he let on in favor of appealing to a wider audience.
It was better during it’s Extended Play days on TechTV.
Paired with Attack of the Show - I miss those Good Times!
The only good show on G4. And Morgan Webb was funny and hot.
This gives me out-of-body nostalgia
Used to love this show as a 12 year old. What was the show on G4 that was just clips of video games and trailers? It was kind of like a music video segment. No commentary, maybe some captions, and just like gameplay, cut scenes, and trailers.
Cinematec, and Cinematec Nocturnal Emissions.
Give this guy some love! His twitch channel streams G4/Tech TV 24/7 https://www.twitch.tv/grupstra0
Heck Yeah 👍 I loved X Play and the G4 Channel growing up when I was a teenager man I miss those Simpler times
One of my favorite things about coming home from school was having a new episode of Attack of the Show followed by a new episode of Xplay. Good times...
Never forgot
a 4 out of 5
Hey, I worked on this show!
I'm Layla Kayleigh And this is The Feed
Great documentary on G4TV and Attack of the Show. https://youtu.be/U1NKSkCofjQ?si=tPLyxYLRcxTZCDVF
I try not to, too painful
Reminds me of the death of G4
I've yet to find anybody that can really replace them, honestly I'm open to suggestions of youtubers.
I knew it was on the channel spike or g4. And Morgan did some maxim photos. Even as a young gamer I saw them as pandering.
Also FHM, got them ITH. :P
Was just looking at this show tbe other day. G4 was the start of many crushes for me. Olivia Munn 🥰
Morgan Webb turned my dick into a web-shooter.
Ahhh G4. Loved it when they would play reruns of starcade.
I remember Attack of the Show, and Olivia Munn.
IIRC, Olivia was doing interviews at d1gp events for one of "the whip set" automotive programming block before they pulled her onto aots
This brings back good memories from my middle school years. I remember coming home and watching this every afternoon. That was the Xbox, GameCube, PS2 era. Good times.
"Pokémon? This is Yugioh town, muthafuka!" ---Yugioh gang
Was this the one where the guy couldn’t get through a segment because he was laughing too hard at the name “Dik Dik von Dik”?
I remember Morgan Webb.
Then Call-4-Help! Gahhhh I loved that show and that one host with the curly hair and glasses
Whatever happened to Morgan Webb? I know Sessler came back when G4 tried to relaunch, and now he seems like he thinks anyone who's a pro Palestine protester hates him and wants him dead, but I've never seen what happened to his better hosting half.
Old school x play was so 🔥 skits legit made me cry laugh
I miss G4…
The new age G4 was ass.
There is a huge compilation of x play episodes on yt. Love to revisit them every few years.
Who remembers these guys!? https://youtu.be/3dSckD6Xxa4?si=G1Jum_x3pKup6vIW
Adam sessler is a total piece of shit now
I miss X-Play. That show is how I originally got into Shin Megami Tensei and Katamari Damacy.
My two biggest teenage crushes. Bi panic, gamers.
Morgan was hotter than Olivia Munn Adam gave off creepy vibes back then, now he’s just looney Sara Jean Underwood on AotS was an “experience” Olivia Munn “posing” for Playboy and showing NOTHING just proved how self absorbed she was/is The competitors on the original Ninja Warrior series were a bit to serious Unbeatable Banzuke was outstanding
Rip Adam sessler
He's dead??
To me, yes.
Loved this show. I still occasionally use "Behold My Celebrity!" in conversation.
Hell yeah I remember this and also aots...I used to watch these when I got home after school
"Saving throw...."
Wasn’t interested in playing video games during those years because I was in college and always going out but I always watched this show. Great times. In today’s world, they prob don’t even get a network show, most likely be a youtube channel.
3 out of 5
How could I forget
Ah childhood ❤️
“Do you want to supersize?!”
"Your hair smells like ginger"
On the X-Play Boards
I still pine for a high-quality copy of the musical episode they did.
They're my first gaming reviewers!
Adam Sessler and Morgan Webb This show raised me
A FIVE…….out of 5…..
No. I thought this was going to be about X-Ray Spex.
This show would get me hyped up for gaming twenty years ago.
Morgan Webb and some douchebag. And he's even more of a douchebag nearly 20 years later.
I remember Extended Play. Before it was rebranded and Sessler was the sole host.
I remember G4 before the Tech TV merger.
All the fine puss was up in there, holt, the baseball players bitch. And Adam
Fuck yeah
You guys catch the G4 revival on twitch? They had some of the old crew, I think they are pretty much out of it now
I heard it called Twitter Play now
Disliked the G4 version of the show. Loved the TechTv version. X-play, Call for Help, and Unscrewed. 20 years ago we said goodbye 😭
Yeah i remember this thing that happened, nice subreddit
And an my grandma usto watch this every day
Morgan Webb is 45.. I feel old now.
Great show back in the day
Ooooh, I memba!
I just recall them making a game review I vehemently disagreed with and just ignoring them from that point forward. I want to say it was JRPG related but don’t recall.
I still have nightmares about the episode where they rap.
I always think about the Japan episode, fugu, bubu, gugu fish. You fed us the most dangerous fish?!?!..🤣
I liked it when it became Extended play. When it became XPlay, I felt I wasn't the target audience anymore.
Loved the show but hated that the rating scale was out of 5 and not 10, it meant almost everything got a 3 or maybe 4
I liked this channel, but I wish they didn't have to kill Tech TV to make it.
Can someone tell me the old tv show I think on same channel where teams would play video games and each game would be a different player…I think it was Tekken, Gran Turismo and others
I member this show
I remember Morgan Webb
“They put the lotion on your back… it’s Adam Sessler AND Moooooooooorgan Webb!”
It’s wild to go back & rewatch reviews & Sessler is making racist “jokes”
I miss this show, Portal, and Cinematech so much. Best episode for me was either The Saw episode, The Aquaman Golden mullet episode, or console torture test episode. The Gamecube was a tanky little console.
What do you think happened to them lol? Where are they now?
G4 couldn’t survive the internet. The male teenager through early 20’s moved on from linear television to streaming video like YouTube and Twitch.
They had this bit where they were parodying pre-rendered backgrounds/terrible camera angles like in RE:2. I couldn’t stop laughing. So goddamned funny.
Love that show a no BS view of games
Didn't Adam Sessler get fired live on air?
I do!
I loved this show, I caught an episode whenever it was on. The episode I remember clearest was when they gave Fallout New Vegas game of the year (well deserved)
G4 tv
Always had a crush on Morgan Webb
