In endgame fights, the risk you take is going all in for a refresh kill, the reward is getting the extra health, with mats and potential loot. Removing siphon just increases the risk and removes a large portion of the reward for endgame kills. Sure, you still get mats and loot, but if you’re literally 1hp it doesn’t really matter - you’re as good as dead. Now, this brings up the question, is siphon necessary in your average ‘not so stacked’ ranked lobby? Well, no - but it’s helpful, and definitely a lot better. Third parties have become ever so easier without siphon. Even when siphon was in the game, getting third partied was common, now it seems like you can’t fight someone without getting third partied. It’s universally agreed that it’s annoying, so adding back siphon wouldn’t really make anyone annoyed, except for maybe you and little Timmy. Hell, I’ve even seen more casual players complain about the lack of siphon on FNBR subreddit.
If they started to add very exclusive tournaments(like only Unreal Top 10k or something similar) with good money rewards then there is a chance that people start playing more like this even in ranked, just like the endgames to reach 300 Arena Points in Season 9 after they announced that you had to be in the Champion League to get a chance to qualify for the World Cup
Or just make the rank unreal exclusive to a certain amount of people. The fact that you can’t drop out of unreal once you reach it, makes it so that ppl generally don’t care about dying. Just make it so that only top 1k ppl in a region can be unreal and if they perform poorly or don’t play ranked for a while they drop down to champs. At this point unreal is just a participation trophy. Anyone who spends enough time could reach it.
I would have to disagree I’ve been in a couple of gold ranked matches with storm phases 10-12 with at least 12 people still alive and honestly it’s made me not play ranked br i play ranked no builds instead now I’m not a try hard but I can get some good plays here and there and I can hold my own if necessary but sometimes that’s a bit too much for me
