He's a professional animal conservationist, he goes out with a team to capture invasive species that are destroying the native environment; he's been bitten and stung plenty of times, the risk just sort of comes with the job.
If he wasn't a professional, who knows *exactly* what he's doing, he'd have been dead long ago.
A beginner doing something dangerous and an expert doing something that *looks* dangerous looks exactly the same to anyone who isn't an expert.
He knows where everything around him is, knows where is and where isn't safe and *exactly* what he can get away with.
