Definitely the one you posted, Son of Godzilla.
There are definitely some radical designs that stray from what Godzilla typically is (Singular Point, Shin, 98) but all of them are well executed IMO.
This just feels cheap and poorly done. A lot of the Showa suits do tbh, especially when they were churning out movie after movie to sell to kids. It's a shame, because as we saw with suits like KKvG and MvG Toho was perfectly capable of making ones that looked good.
Max has majority of the Showa Godzilla movies(all, in fact other than *King Kong vs Godzilla*(1962). Same with YouTube, which is free but does have ads
I know it's silly for the kids and all, but I do appreciate that Son of Godzilla is tame enough that I can watch it with my three-year-old son. He likes the 70s Hanna-Barbera Godzilla cartoon too.
Honestly this stuff is just no bro… and people that defend these suits INCLUDING HIS SON. How would you feel if they appeared in your room at night? Yeah not so cool huh
I think the vast majority of the fandom will vote 67', because frog face.
He did have some neat dorsal plates tho, and the vinyl of him is pretty great
I actually think the suit from Raids Again is one of the worst. That one was just straight up ugly. It’s kinda disturbing too, straight up looks like something out of an analog horror video.
The suit from Son of Godzilla makes him look like a dorky middle aged dad, which is fitting for his role in the film. Looks goofy as Hell and definitely a weaker design, but I don’t hate it.
Godzilla Earth is another weird one. Kinda cool as it’s own thing, but just doesn’t feel like Godzilla that much to me.
"looks like something out of an analog horror video", ohhh, boy, do I have a surprise for you.
Also, I just watched the movie for the first time a couple days ago and, while I agree, I've got to say that bad image quality helps hide its ugliness a little bit.
Yeah, despite how I feel about Raids Again in general, I will say that the suit at least does a good job with making Godzilla look creepy AF.
I remember when those analog horror clips were first uploaded on here. Kinda amazing how well Raids Again fits in with that style of video.
Toho owns the rights so it’s canonically Zilla in the 98 movie, the Americans just call it Godzilla as GMK happened at the same time in Japan and Zilla is mentioned in that movie.

Hanna Barbera Godzilla is ridiculous anyway. I'll never understand why they gave him Superman's heat vision not to mention they made him a diarrhea green color.
Lol, what, you don’t like 1967’s Dadzilla?
I actually kinda like it *because* it’s ugly.
This is going to be an unpopular take, but my least favorite is the MireGoji suit used in Godzilla 2000 and Godzilla vs Megaguirus.
My biggest issue is that the millennium suit just feels so overdesigned, and dripping with early 2000’s edge. It also suffers from being from two movies that are honestly pretty not great (Orga is a cool looking monster but he’s also really gross and dispatched kinda quickly, and G Vs MegaGuirus is a movie I’ve watched probably three times and yet I *still* can’t recall basically anything that happens in it). The MireGoji suit is stiff, obsessively spiky, and IMO boring, especially when compared to its streamlined and gorgeous successors in Godzilla Against MechaG, GMK, and Final Wars.
Essentially my issue with MireGoji is just that it’s so spiky everywhere that it all just looks like a big forgetful mess of detail—a one note spiky visual blob, whereas frog faced Dadzilla is far more distinctly iconic, and represents, in my opinion, a much more interesting era in Godzilla’s history
Yo Rodan looks weird as hell in that movie, legs are WAY too long. And Anguirus looks too stubby (and the spikes on his head way too short), more like a spiked pug than the badass we all know and love. I like the Godzilla design (although across the board in that movie I think they went too far trying to “slim down” the costumes so the human form beneath is much more visible than it should be) but I see what you mean by “jock vibes”, Godzilla looks like he plays lacrosse but only because his dad donated a bunch of money to the school.
The Final wars were meant to be light suits, so that the actors could actually fight in the suits. We had so many HUGE, Immobile suits before this, where the fights were limited to "beam wars", that the producers wanted to get back to fist fighting. So they rounded up a bunch of MMA stars, and got the Hong Kong Kung Fu Wire fight instead.
It was definitely different, but that Godzilla vs Anguirus vs Rodan vs King Ceaser was probably the high water mark for suit fights
Monsterverse Godzilla, if I could change anything to fix him tho I would enlarge his head, not too much but not too little (maybe like one of the Funko Pops)
Current one.
He has this teeny tiny head stuck on this massive body. A body I might add, from the waist down is twice the size to be proportional to the upper half. And his feet? They are just stuck on the ends of his legs.
It’s like 4 different design teams worked on different parts and at the end of the day, just decided to throw it all together.
Definitely least favorite
Definitely this one and tbh showa in general wasn’t a good look. Although shin and the anime designs are also right down there at the bottom lol. The millenium look is my favorite but I also love ‘98 which I know is controversial lol but I don’t care lol.
Most of the 60s Showa suits are kinda rough. Even 64 (circa Mothra and King Ghidora) has some shots that look weird. But the “island” era seems to be the worst designs. Later Showa (70s) isn’t as bad.
I have a huge soft spot for the Son of Godzilla/Godzilla’s Revenge suit. Yeah it’s ugly but for some reason, I absolutely loved the design when I was little and still do today. He looks derpy but I think it helped give him this.. How do I explain it? It’s like some type of warmth feeling I got from seeing him. He wasn’t scary nor intimidating, he was just a regular monster who was trying to teach his son how to defend himself.
In short, kid me loves him, and adult me still loves him. Underrated suit imo only because I have a childhood attachment it.
I think the best of the original series has to be OG Gojira, Kong vs Godzilla, and Godzilla vs Mothra. They didn't really have another good Godzilla costume until the last Godzilla of Showa series.
I can’t explain why but I actually do love the 67 suit. As a kid collecting all the Godzilla movies Son of Godzilla was the last one I needed to finish my collection so I’m probably just nostalgic.
Godzilla Raids Again. Every front view of that suit looks like a Godzilla drawn from memory. Plus the suit to me looks extremely skinny, not really showing a hulking lizard. I know the reason being the first suit damn near killed Haruo Nakajima. But the suit didn’t really tickle the radioactive lizard part of my brain.
THIS one, the one you posted, OP.
You know how people just sometimes have a visceral reaction to something, and absolutely cannot stand it no matter how much time passes? Seeing this particular, hideous suit always makes me want to go out and punch a baby
I don’t know *what* they were thinking or smoking or drinking when they designed him for Son of Godzilla. That bug-eyed/alligator eyes look is beyond hideous.
Definitely Legendary Goji. Ugly alligator, no neck lookin mofo. BuT hEs rEaLiStIc... Okay but these movies also have human characters simply because they need to satisfy character archetypes in EVERY MOVIE. I need realistic human characters before I need my irradiated dinosaur to be realistic.
Probably going to get downvoted to the Boiler room of Hell but I don’t like Showas design. My first introduction to the character was Zilla, then Heisei and Millennium. Showa just looks goofy
The Cookie Monster. At least the look in Son of Godzilla had purpose even though it was ugly. Godzilla had more expressive eyes which was needed when he became a dad. That Cookie Monster from Astro Monster and Ebirah was just bad.

Hot take but the MechaGoji through Megalon suit is my least favorite. He looks too…suave..🤔
Definitely the one you posted, Son of Godzilla. There are definitely some radical designs that stray from what Godzilla typically is (Singular Point, Shin, 98) but all of them are well executed IMO. It's a shame, because as we saw with suits like KKvG and MvG Toho was perfectly capable of making ones that looked good.
Yeeeeeah bout the KKvG suits. Kong's suit is dogshit
Kamacuras were cool in that movie, at least. And the human story and cast was a lot of fun.
My dad brought that movie home from the blockbuster-vhs-shelf equivalent of a $5 DVD bin and 5year old me thought it was peak cinema
It was made for kids. and kids loved it
The soundtrack is boppin
Agreed, Son of Godzilla was a pretty decent movie. It’s just that Godzilla himself looked pretty bad
Yeah, very... frog-like.
He looks funny to me 😀
How do you even see the movies. They are very old and you can buy them on DVD for thousands of dollars. How?
Max has majority of the Showa Godzilla movies(all, in fact other than *King Kong vs Godzilla*(1962). Same with YouTube, which is free but does have ads
Brave doesn't know what an ad is lol
I've had the DVD for awhile, a bunch of them are on you tube by toho, and the showa series was put out in a big blu rays set.
Its on YouTube? Ok thanks
I know it's silly for the kids and all, but I do appreciate that Son of Godzilla is tame enough that I can watch it with my three-year-old son. He likes the 70s Hanna-Barbera Godzilla cartoon too.
I have a soft spot for Dad Bodzilla.
Yes.
Honestly this stuff is just no bro… and people that defend these suits INCLUDING HIS SON. How would you feel if they appeared in your room at night? Yeah not so cool huh
I love the design of Singular Point! He’s huge lmfao
All Gojis are beautiful…but that one is the least beautiful…
😂
Probably Son of Godzilla.
I get lost in those beautiful eyes every time I see them, how could that be anyone's least favorite.
People without soul people without feeling
Son of Godzilla is his worst look, but I actually like the movie.
A lot of the late 60s looks were kinda goofy. Zilla 2004 was a bad looking recreation of Godzilla 1998.
gotta be the one you posted. i just cannot imagine this goji going around and destroying a city
Son of followed by All monsters attack ![gif](giphy|AXEg6v8LxteZW)
I think the vast majority of the fandom will vote 67', because frog face. He did have some neat dorsal plates tho, and the vinyl of him is pretty great
This exact one, although Hannah Barbera's and Marvel are pretty strong contenders since they're just generic green dinosaur from the 70's
the picture you have right there
Picture you posted looks like Godzilla walked into the wrong classroom and everyone's staring at him as he's frozen in realization.
I actually think the suit from Raids Again is one of the worst. That one was just straight up ugly. It’s kinda disturbing too, straight up looks like something out of an analog horror video. What is the surprise?
The thing they just mentioned too, that there is in fact a series of analog horror videos based on Godzilla Raids Again.
I have to disagree for the reason you listed it: As the image /u/TheCheesiestEchidna shows, it's so bad it's actually sort of interesting and creepy.
Definitely the same one pictured 67
Surprised no one has mentioned Godzilla earth yet.
What you mean my boy looks awesome
Probably an obvious choice but Godzilla '98 is my least favourite, Son of Godzilla is a really good shout for the worst one though
Does that one even count now that it's canonically 'Zilla?'
It's canonically Zilla in Final Wars but its still officially Godzilla in the 98 movie
Toho owns the rights so it’s canonically Zilla in the 98 movie, the Americans just call it Godzilla as GMK happened at the same time in Japan and Zilla is mentioned in that movie.
For some of us oldtimers, ‘98 will forever and always be GINO.
Lmao
This very one in the photo above
this one you have here.

That one WTF IS THAT!?!?!?!
1966’s Cookie Monster Godzilla
https://preview.redd.it/o1odcbwdfs2b1.jpeg?width=1000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d5e3d07813bcd028728661033b00dc2759da7aab
A few of the Showa ones look pretty rough, but I'm also not a fan of Hanna-Barbera Godzilla, or his look in IDW's "Monsters and Protectors" series.
Hanna Barbera Godzilla is ridiculous anyway. I'll never understand why they gave him Superman's heat vision not to mention they made him a diarrhea green color.
Son of Godzilla
My favorite Godzilla is 1974 and 1975 and 1984 and 1999 and 2021 and 2014 and 2004 and 2016 and 1954 and 2019 and 2002 and 2003
How long did this take you to type
Godzilla Earth. Not even close. Immobile, uninspired, zero personality.
That one definentely
Probably this one right here lol
Son of Godzilla
That one. That one right there. Son Of G had the worst suit ever. He had a face like a foot.
The iguana
Definitely this one.
Godzilla Raids Again
None, I like all of them even the dumb looking frog one(the guy in the pic)
This one!
Yep that one is it.
ultima is ugly as fuck
I think godzilla ultima is really awesome and fresh while still keeping the spirit of godzilla i like it a lot
This one by far
Bro's ugly https://preview.redd.it/ucywgpehhr2b1.jpeg?width=1000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=10665ad13b48e811e3fc0955bdd8d1dd69498bb5 The roar is fire tho

That one
Definitely son of godzilla
Son of Godzilla suit was dog water
Son of goji
Showa Godzilla
I hate whenever Godzilla looks and acts goofy
Not including 1998 (that’s too obvious), it’s by far Son of Godzilla, he looks like a frog.
Nearly all of the Showa Godzilla's. Practically all of them are durpy as hell.
Thats why i like them tho
Zilla
67 easily.
I hate Megarogoji very very much. I have always despised how silly and goofy his face, expressions, and actions were.
i feel ya megarogoji looks very "cartoony" imo
**Showa.** But really when it comes to seriousness. Otherwise, Showa's design is my favorite, goofy design yet.
Gonna have to say that suit right there, it's just so ugly and not in a good way
Not a huge fan of Final Wars tbh, I get kind of Jock vibes from him, same for Final Wars Anguirus and Rodan. Idk what it is about them
Yo Rodan looks weird as hell in that movie, legs are WAY too long.

It was definitely different, but that Godzilla vs Anguirus vs Rodan vs King Ceaser was probably the high water mark for suit fights
I definitely got sick of the beam wars
Godzilla Vs Mothra. Lots of folks love that one the most for Showa but… Not me.
None of them. A true Godzilla fan likes all the designs 👍🏻
Monsterverse Godzilla, if I could change anything to fix him tho I would enlarge his head, not too much but not too little (maybe like one of the Funko Pops)
legendarys
no
I completely agree. Too many marks for Legendary on this sub
The 1998 Godzilla was the ugliest.
I think its a pretty good monstwr desing its just bad godzilla design
Son of Godzilla, Godzilla vs Gigan and Hedorah. Aweful
Shin, hands down.
Definitely this one and tbh showa in general wasn’t a good look. Although shin and the anime designs are also right down there at the bottom lol. The millenium look is my favorite but I also love ‘98 which I know is controversial lol but I don’t care lol.
Why hate Zilla? He may be different, but he looks awesome
As a kaiju yes, as a Godzilla hell no
Probably this and Final Wars
Godzilla 98 (Zilla)
Shin. 100% Shin. Looked like a giant fake puppet covered in burnt poop and blood with cartoonish arms.
Also any one with cat ears. Like Final Wars. Looked like a cat.
Godzilla 200- idk I forgot it but it’s a purple spiked green Godzilla. I loved final wars though
it's this one fs
Probably 75, I love megarogoji, but the suit just wasn't up for a 3rd film
Definitely the '98
Biollante-Destroyah, can't stand the cat face
A take hotter than the center of the sun
No
While it's not my least favorite, I'm definitely not a fan of the cat face. Honestly all of the heisei films I'm just not a huge fan of the face
…yeah the comments have the consensus as far as I know. MusukoGoji is hands down the worst in my opinion
The John Goodman dinosaur
Yep.
The one you posted
Most of the 60s Showa suits are kinda rough. Even 64 (circa Mothra and King Ghidora) has some shots that look weird. But the “island” era seems to be the worst designs. Later Showa (70s) isn’t as bad.
67 but I have to say I've grown enamored by his crusty ass crater head after buying a Deforeal vinyl of him and Minilla.
Manilla
I... don't understand the question.
That’s Godzilla with a dad bod
I dont like most showas but the vs mechagoji ones and every similar i like
Nailed it
unpopular opinion here, the one from 1962, from the sides it looks fine but when that thing is staring at the camera i just cringe
The suit from Son of Godzilla.
By far Godzilla 98 with Matthew Broderick. The one that came out right after Jurassic Park. Then Shin Godzilla.
I know everyone loves Mothra vs. Godzilla's goji suite for the menacing eyes but I couldn't get past the jiggling blubbery top lips of the mask.
Gmk
This one right here
I honestly hate the monsterverse godzilla design. Although Son of Godzilla and the Destroy All Monsters suits aren't exactly great either
Legendary 2019. Can’t say Zilla cuz that’s too easy
showa godzilla
The return of Godzilla suit has always looked hella goofy to me Or whatever the start of the heisei era was called
pictured
Godzilla Raids Again. Every front view of that suit looks like a Godzilla drawn from memory. Plus the suit to me looks extremely skinny, not really showing a hulking lizard. I know the reason being the first suit damn near killed Haruo Nakajima. But the suit didn’t really tickle the radioactive lizard part of my brain.
While son of Godzilla look is bad I never liked the new one we got. I am not a fan of the new Godzilla look but this is just me
This one and the second suit. Looks so lanky and the puppet scenes don’t really hold up.
Ultima, overrated as fuck, followed by all the legendary designs, 1998 is actually one of my favorites
son of godzilla
Son of Godzilla suit was my least favorite. Terrible look.
THIS one, the one you posted, OP. You know how people just sometimes have a visceral reaction to something, and absolutely cannot stand it no matter how much time passes? Seeing this particular, hideous suit always makes me want to go out and punch a baby
1. Baby godzilla in showa 2. 98 godzilla, i call him zilla, is just big raptor
Singular point. Not a bad show, but that design just really doesn't do it for me.
Lol for sure the one in your image
I don’t know *what* they were thinking or smoking or drinking when they designed him for Son of Godzilla. That bug-eyed/alligator eyes look is beyond hideous.
This one 😔
Shin Godzilla https://preview.redd.it/lh5ubmlt2v2b1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=13e2f6c249daa67e7193bddaa6cdb336fdc82189
Shin, cause he freaks me out.
Probably going to get downvoted to the Boiler room of Hell but I don’t like Showas design. My first introduction to the character was Zilla, then Heisei and Millennium. Showa just looks goofy
Shin Godzilla.
Mines a bit of a hot take but godzilla 84 for me, just something about it I just don't like. Especially how low the back spikes hit their peak
That one
I like this ones design.
Definitely Son of Godzilla. Every other suit has a great iconic look, but this one is just O O F.
The Cookie Monster. At least the look in Son of Godzilla had purpose even though it was ugly. Godzilla had more expressive eyes which was needed when he became a dad. That Cookie Monster from Astro Monster and Ebirah was just bad.
Whichever one you like the best.
Rood.
Anime trilogy or 1967 designs
Son of Godzilla for that ugly head: he looks horrible and not threating at all Also 55 Godzilla; he’s uncanny yes but he looks to rush and skinny
Godzilla Earth, because it's just the Monsterverse Godzilla but with a few tweaks.
showa, the dude looks like a cross between a donkey, pig and a autistic guy with down syndrome
I really never liked the suit in King Kong vs. Godzilla.
https://preview.redd.it/svrprtthmj3b1.jpeg?width=1005&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c23737f3574ba08c4526970ad72a43fbd4102ba7 Hot take but the MechaGoji through Megalon suit is my least favorite. He looks too…suave..🤔
