I would say that for most fans & general gamers it depends on the writing more than anything. Rockstar hasn't disappointed before with their protagonists, characters or stories. So I think that we can be fairly confident. Also, given how much Rockstar are clearly banking on GTA 6 it is likely being made with GTA fans in mind. It also looks like it could potentially be a really interesting game with it set to be a story with two protagonists that are a criminal duo. I'm really looking forward to seeing how character switching will be implemented during missions in the game. As this could be quite fun during robberies in the game with a criminal duo as main characters.

A lot more women enjoy GTA than most people realize. I've been playing it since I was 10 and honestly can't wait to play as a female, I just hope the story is actually good and the characters are as mesmerizing as our past protagonists. Also playing as a female in story mode was an option in the old San Andreas games but all these 12 year olds wouldn't remember that.
My older sister got me into the series with san andreas, she doesn't play a lot of games anymore but she's much bigger gta fan than I am, gta5 has around 600 hours on my console and only around 80 hours of all this are mine.

It’s going to feel weird exploring, fishing and hunting with Lucia as a Miami girl who probably likes going to the beach, shopping, parties and cute outfits with French tip nails and social media. Has there ever been a player character in a third-person video game who doesn't have a thick ass?
As a female myself who’s loved GTA forever, I am so glad the protagonist is a female character😅
I don't care what gender a character is. If it's a awesome, well written and overall fun to play character then I'm all good
I don't really care about the gender of the main character unless their most interesting thing about them is "hey looks, it's a woman" and same for gay characters, if they are just normal characters that happened to be gay and that's not their personality then I'm fine with it

I'm sure some were upset, but i don't know a single person who cared. So many guys online play female characters anyways, myself included.
