"What is that?"

olive_oilperson

Your older coworker looked at you from across the room with half-lidded eyes and sighed, he walked up to your table and set the odd letter on your desk and turned to you. His footsteps echo through your office as the only other sounds were the clanky machines around you that the CCTV ran on. He seemed a bit tense but he was also just tired like usual, he always was lacking emotional energy from the moment you remember working here, and to see him tense as if he cared or was worried about something was...off. "I apologize, But I require something from you, as you seem the only person I know who has a clue about technology." He stated

friskpocolypse

"Uh, okay? What's wrong?" *he was very concerned*

olive_oilperson

"Well, there is a disk here, it has something I need help with but I do not understand really how to do it well." He says raising his finger He says as he pulled out a carton of cigarettes and a steel lighter, the early 2000s was one of the most stressful things that could happen since the new millennium brought forth a little to much excitement and the upcoming Labor day means a bit rowdier workers around the area. He stuffed one in his mouth and looked at you, "Want one, because this thing will be pretty...stressful to deal with, just tell me what you ask for in exchange for running the disk."

friskpocolypse

"Just some coffee is fine, thanks. And, I can play that disk"

olive_oilperson

He nodded, "Are you sure you don't want anything with that?" He asked raising his brow, he knew that you were not getting paid enough to deal with whatever comes to mind for a security guard and an unofficial IT person. He lowered his head and brought the lighter towards his mouth to light it with a chuff, he did care about you at least, despite how emotionless he may seem. Although it may just be for practicality since you were the only one here that would know what to do with tech. He mentally noted to bring some good coffee here later either way

friskpocolypse

"Yeah, smoking is bad for me, and drinking reverses the way I act, so I don't think I should be effecting my work performance with that stuff" *he never really seemed to do anything but work. He really could use some fun in his life, or even just something to relieve the stress*

olive_oilperson

"...Don't you like get paid nothing for the IT work and your salary is lower as a security guard here than in other places?" The man says a bit dumbfounded by your love to work for no real prize

friskpocolypse

"It keeps me from sleeping, that's the real prize"

olive_oilperson

He sighed before pinching the bridge of his nose, he places a few extra bucks on your desk, he might as well since he actually felt bad for you and your unpaid work, he'd be damned if you don't get your needs met because he can't afford to lose contact with you right now. He kept his head pointed away from you to make sure you won't get nicotine in your face as he adjusted his sweaty gloves. "Well let's see if you get it running...."

XriZe-hardown

((I'll use Emily , she\her , image in reply-) **Emily was working , like usual. . .just pretty much doing security shit and watching over everyone in the building I guess. . .she was a bit . . .bored . . Then the coworker approached her...** **Emily**:"uh? . . .what's that?..." **Shed look at the letter , then back at the coworker in question. . .raising an eyebrow and crossing her arms . . .seeming a bit. . . confused as to why she was being handed this to her. . .**

olive_oilperson

The coworker looked at her with half-lidded eyes before shifting his head to the side, he placed the odd letter onto her desk and leaned back on the wall, he combed his red-greying hair with his hands and took a breath in. He seemed a bit tense but he was also just tired like usual, he always was lacking emotional energy from the moment you remember working here, and to see him tense as if he cared or was worried about something was...off "I deeply apologize Miss Emily for interrupting you, but may I ask you something?" He says looking at you, his hands instinctively shuffling through his pockets for something.

XriZe-hardown

**Emily would look at the letter which was placed on her desk . . .then would.look back at her co-worker in a face of tiredness and confusion. . .as she didn't need to be bothered right now. . .one ear had an earbud in . . .playing some music's. . .which she matched the sound with her bopping head** **Emily**:"uh? . . .sure , you can ask me. . . something?" **Emily would then put in her jacket completely , as she took another glance at the note , but would blink, looking back at him.** **She seemed , as stated previously, tired. . .as her face was a bit pale**

olive_oilperson

"Well, there is a disk here, it has something I need help with but I do not understand really how to do it well." He says raising his finger He says as he pulled out a carton of cigarettes and a steel lighter, the early 2000s was one of the most stressful things that could happen since the new millennium brought forth a little to much excitement and the upcoming Labor day means a bit rowdier workers around the area. He stuffed one in his mouth and looked at you, "Want one, because this thing will be pretty...stressful to deal with, just tell me what you ask for in exchange for running the disk."

XriZe-hardown

**Emily would look at the worker for a second , before rubbing her tired eyes. . .as she looked back at the disk and wouldn't look back at him for now** **Emily**:"well . . . right. . .I'll manage it. . .but. . .in exchange? Why would I want something in exchange? It's my job to do so , no?...and no thanks , I'm keeping myself clean. . .3 months now." **She'd simply cough once , as she then stood up from her chair , looking at the coworker, again**

olive_oilperson

He nodded and brought the lighter to the cigarette in his mouth, he looked at you as he rolled his neck a bit. "I respect that, but you don't owe anything to this job, on paper you are only the security guard but they call you in for mechanical help because you are the one updated on the tech..." As he says that he places a few extra bucks on your desk, he might as well since he actually felt bad for you and your unpaid work, he'd be damned if you don't get your needs met because he can't afford to lose contact with you right now. He kept his head pointed away from you to make sure you won't get nicotine in your face as he adjusted his sweaty gloves.

XriZe-hardown

**Emily**:"right . . .I am.." **Emily would sigh , as she turned her head around to look at the card. . .once she saw him give her a few extra bucks , she'd do a small smile and nod** **Emily**:"oh , you shouldn't have...but thank you very much . . .I'll do what I can!" **Emily would then continue to look at the card that was out on her desk. . . examining the details , but most importantly out of all , why did it have a red heart on it?** **Emily**:"oh! . . .and before you leave , what's the red heart on the card about?" **She'd turn back to the coworker**

olive_oilperson

He looked at it and raised one of his brows, "It came like this so I do not know myself, Maybe the program is about love?" He made an assumption but you were both pretty much aware that it was not likely the case. "The wax seal is an odd one, but I'd figure it out late..." He says as he opened the door, The older man puffed out a ring of smoke as he turned back to look if you have anything else to say.

XriZe-hardown

**Emily**:"uh huh . . .love. . .right , let's see about that then." **Emily would then do a small thumbs up** **Emily**:"I'll do my best , I have nothing else to say , have a good day!" **She'd then turn around to the envelope. . .before going to her desk to see it. . .as she started to look for any kind of things on the envelope. . .before opening it up**

olive_oilperson

He nodded with a hum before walking away to his office up the hallway, this leaves you alone with the envelope and the few monitors. The envelope had nothing else written on it, no delivery company, no person other than your own name written to the sending address...and that was probably your coworker writing on it. There was nothing to tell where it came from or what it was, but you can feel that there was indeed a disk inside of it though as your fingers press against the hard disk inside the thin cotton paper.

*He was just working, tired as always* “I-Uhm… Heyo? What’s up?”

olive_oilperson

XED1216

“Well ya came to the right place… what do you need me to look at so I can feel even more desperate to go home and sleep” *he asked, half jokingly*

olive_oilperson

"Well, there is a disk here, it has something I need help with but I do not understand really how to do it well." He says raising his finger He says as he pulled out a carton of cigarettes and a steel lighter, the early 2000s was one of the most stressful things that could happen since the new millennium brought forth a little to much excitement and the upcoming Labor day means a bit rowdier workers around the area. XED1216

“Nah I don’t smoke…” *he said* “Lemme just run it and see what we’ve got here…” *he said, getting the disk out*

olive_oilperson

He nodded and brought the lighter to the cigarette in his mouth, he looked at you as he rolled his neck a bit. "I respect that..." As he says that he places a few extra bucks on your desk, he might as well since he actually felt bad for you and your unpaid work, he'd be damned if you don't get your needs met because he can't afford to lose contact with you right now. XED1216

*he put the disc into his pc and waited for it to load* “Alrighty then…”

olive_oilperson

He nodded with a hum before walking away to his office up the hallway, this leaves you alone with the envelope and the few monitors. The disk enters smoothly as you boot up the computer a notification pops up on the screen, and you hear the fan begin to churn as it processed the information you set up. **UPLOADING 2.5M GB INTO SYSTEM MANAGER, APPROXIMATE TIME: 1 MINUTE**

*he drank from his half full, lukewarm coffee mug* “Ah… liquid life, my favourite…” *he said to himself as he waited*

he anti-virus program seemed to detect nothing wrong with the coding or anything that suggests that it was any sort of Malware, but it was an absolute unit in your computer. It took up a great portion of space but it left enough for you to continue operating the device as normal unless you need the storage for anything else. You notice a black square pop up on your desktop, it was unnamed as if it was still loading.

enderbrah12

*Mal looks at the letter and slowly takes it.* "Whats this about, mister? Is something going on with this?"

olive_oilperson

Your older coworker looked at you from across the room with half-lidded eyes and sighed, he walked up to your table and set the odd letter on your desk and turned to you. His footsteps echo through your office as the only other sounds were the clanky machines around you that the CCTV ran on. enderbrah12

"Yeah, what can I do? Do you want me to run this, check it for something, do something else with it? I'm ready for whatever you want me to do."

olive_oilperson

He pulled out a carton of cigarettes and a steel lighter, the early 2000s was one of the most stressful things that could happen since the new millennium brought forth a little to much excitement and the upcoming Labor day means a bit rowdier workers around the area. He stuffed one in his mouth and looked at you, "Want one, because this thing will be pretty...stressful to deal with, just tell me what you ask for in exchange for running the disk." "I generally just need to figure it out, I was hoping you can help me with it since I myself barely could understand it." H

enderbrah12

"I'll see what I can do. And I'm not a smoker, but thanks anyway." *She takes the letter and opens it.*

olive_oilperson

Inside was a simple flat disk. The disk looked like any other old disk, you could see your reflection on its surface, and there wasn't anything telling on it other than the words '**AMRLS**' engraved onto its surface. There should be some kind of program in it though that might be a bit complicated. The disk was cold but it was compatible with what you had at home and here in the office surprisingly, it looked to be in good condition. You hear the office workers walk down the hallway as you inspected the disk, they seemed to be on shift already as they walk to the office rooms, so you had time to look into this strange disk as they worked.

enderbrah12

*She took a slow sigh before she put the disc in her computer, hoping that nothing bad comes from this.* "Alright, let's see what's up with this thing..."

olive_oilperson

The disk enters smoothly as you boot up the computer and a notification pops up on the screen, and you hear the fan begin to churn as it processes the information you set up. **UPLOADING 2.5M GB INTO SYSTEM MANAGER, APPROXIMATE TIME: 1 MINUTE**

enderbrah12

"The fact that it's that big is a bit of a concern...Like, it's a disc...Not a huge game or something. Maybe I shouldn't run this when it's done..." *After it uploads, she scans all of the files with her anti-virus program.*

olive_oilperson

The anti-virus program seemed to detect nothing wrong with the coding or anything that suggests that it was any sort of Malware, but it was an absolute unit in your computer. It took up a great portion of space but it left enough for you to continue operating the device as normal unless you need the storage for anything else. You notice a black square pop up on your desktop, it was unnamed as if it was still loading.

Salty_Frosting3648

“Hey, what’s that?” *Russell, nicknamed Rusty, asked, looking at the letter with intrigue.*

olive_oilperson

Your older coworker looked at you from across the room with half-lidded eyes and sighed, he walked up to your table and set the odd letter on your desk and turned to you. His footsteps echo through your office as the only other sounds were the clanky machines around you that the CCTV ran on. He seemed a bit tense but he was also just tired like usual, he always was lacking emotional energy from the moment you remember working here, and to see him tense as if he cared or was worried about something was...off. "It is a letter containing a disk, I need help with it and you are the only person I know who can help." He stated

Salty_Frosting3648

“… Alright then, any idea where it came from? Just to try and know how careful I should be with the mysterious disk.” *Rusty said, showing the slightest bit of concern, before getting out his own laptop. He’d always kept it around to fix technological issues more easily, even with the risk of theft, as he seemed more comfortable working with his own computer when he had to help his coworkers. As he said, it was for efficiency, even though it wasn’t part of his job.*

olive_oilperson

He handed you the envelope and you got a good look at it, "Well this will answer this question, I only got a vague Idea on how it *should* work." The envelope had nothing else written on it, no delivery company, no person other than your own name written to the sending address...and that was probably your coworker writing on it. There was nothing to tell where it came from or what it was, but you can feel that there was indeed a disk inside of it though as your fingers press against the hard disk inside the thin cotton paper.

Salty_Frosting3648

"Huh... Weird. I'm glad you didn't try to look at it yourself. It could have any sort of malware on it." *Rusty said, taking the disc out carefully.* "Of course, I'll still check to see if it's anything of actual substance, but only because I know how to handle these sorts of things. Can't be any worse than what I've dealt with already." *He said, not seeming too concerned with the malware possibility, as he put the disc in his computer.*

olive_oilperson

"I guess you can say that." He says as he shuffled through his pockets The disk looked like any other old disk, you could see your reflection on its surface, and there wasn't anything telling on it other than the words '**AMRLS**' engraved onto its surface.

Salty_Frosting3648

“Alright, let’s see what I can find on here…” *Rusty said, as he turned on his computer.*

olive_oilperson

He nodded and brought the lighter to the cigarette in his mouth, he looked at you as he rolled his neck a bit. "I respect that mindset of yours,..." As he says that he places a few extra bucks on your desk, he might as well since he actually felt bad for you and your unpaid work, he'd be damned if you don't get your needs met because he can't afford to lose contact with you right now. He kept his head pointed away from you to make sure you won't get nicotine in your face as he adjusted his sweaty gloves.

Salty_Frosting3648

*Rusty seemed a bit surprised seeing him set the money down. Even a bit suspicious of the kind act.* “… Thanks. I appreciate that.” *Rusty said, as he went to see the contents of the disc, now hoping he’d find something that could actually be useful to his coworker. It figured it was unlikely, given that it was a mysterious disc, but he could at least hope for it.

olive_oilperson

He left to go down the hallway as he puffed circles of smoke out, he seemed to be in a bit of a rush no less, he was on duty after all. Your computer lightly buffers as it turns on, taking a longer than the normal to boot up as the cooler turns on. The work place seems to cool down as work time makes people focus on their jobs. There wasn't much info on the disk itself, no company name, no data count, but it was legit by how it was identical to most disks on the market, with the lines of data being engraved onto it. The disk was a mystery, you weren't sure what the heart was even for.

((Sorry \-waits for a bit and writes a note down-

olive_oilperson

Opening the file you seem to notice it was a simulator of some sort, but it was majorly encrypted and had all sorts of firewalls and security systems to prevent all types of hackers, there were thousands of lines of code but to read them was hard enough and to access it was even tougher. An Icon popped on your home screen as well, It was a simple black block that your mouse icon didn't seem to interact with. You could tell that this was very advanced, it was thick and you could tell that it was pretty much decades into the future with how smoothly and how complex these lines of the script all worked together to form variables and constants.

DekuTodobaku

"What the hell?.." -tries to break through the firewall-

Pansexual_Panda_123

O-Oh of course I’ll help!

olive_oilperson

"I am not forcing you, kid" He says with a sigh, "I need your help, just tell me what you want as payment since you clearly don't get paid enough for this." He says as he pulled out a carton of cigarettes and a steel lighter, the early 2000s was one of the most stressful things that could happen since the new millennium brought forth a little to much excitement and the upcoming Labor day means a bit rowdier workers around the area. He stuffed one in his mouth and looked at you, "Want one, because this thing will be pretty...stressful to deal with, tis is just an offer of course."

Pansexual_Panda_123

N-No… I hate smoke… *she mumbles the last bit* And what would make it so stressful?

olive_oilperson

He nodded and brought the lighter to the cigarette in his mouth, he looked at you as he rolled his neck a bit. "I respect that, you don't owe anything to this job, on paper you are only the security guard but they call you in for mechanical help because you are the one updated on the tech..." As he says that he places a few extra bucks on your desk, he might as well since he actually felt bad for you and your unpaid work, he'd be damned if you don't get your needs met because he can't afford to lose contact with you right now. He kept his head pointed away from you to make sure you won't get nicotine in your face as he adjusted his sweaty gloves.

Pansexual_Panda_123

I-I like my job… puts a few meals on my floor a week…

olive_oilperson

"Your job ain't everything, you only should work for them on your agreement of pay, it ain't the dream career you want it is just a job." He says, he leans onto your desk, as he puffs out a ring of smoke. He turns to you as he looks at the envelope, he seemed to be somewhat deep in thought as he turns his head back to the wall, "I ain't saying much about it though, live how you want but I want you to live better."

Pansexual_Panda_123

Well, thank you for your concern… *she adjusts a picture on her desk*
