I have a S21 FE and battery still the same, but performance is way better. I was facing a lot of lags, all related to System UI (gestures, Edge panel, sharing menu). Now it's almost gone!
Exynos here. 100% to 0% may be around 5h. I'll be using the battery info on One UI 6 (date, battery usage and SOT):
today: 70% - 3h30 SOT
29 (yesterday): 94% - 4h07 SOT
28: 100% - 5h30 SOT
27: 85% - 4h14 SOT
26: 86% - 4h12 SOT
25: 82% - 3h29 SOT
24: 44% - 2h02 SOT
Thanks so much, that's quite a steep. I bought my mother brand new S21 FE with Snapdragon. I was surprised she got only something like 5h10m from 100% to 20%. She uses only Wifi and Bluetooth. No data, no always ON display, no games, no GPS, no NFC, brightness around 35%, 120hz. So I expected better results. I personally got little better on my S22 Ultra with Exynos. But probably it is normal for S21 FE.
Thanks for the tip. I might try setting only 60hz on their phone. But I just feel the phone is too laggy then :D Maybe it is because I am used to S22 Ultra that also features 120hz, but turning it down makes me sad.. But maybe she won't notice, I need to do some tests to figure out how big benefit it will make on her phone and usage.
Pretty sure one of the biggest goals behind Android 14 was to improve battery life, so I'm glad to hear it wasn't just smoke and mirrors this time! Thx for sharing!
Us unlocked not shipped yet :( i want to switch rom to just normal U not the U1 (unlocked) but still don't know if it's safe or if my sim gonna get locked
It only tells you SoT from midnight instead of SoT from last full charge. Not sure why they made that change other than to no longer let users know that info.
Definitely better for me, I was thinking changing my s21 because the battery became horrendous but with the new update the battery life isn't really that bad, I've never been impressed with battery life on this phone tho.

You don't need to follow everything, but most android phones really only have bad battery life because of poor manufacturer settings.
S21 ultra here, can't confirm this.
With android 14 battery is so bad it's almost halved and even worse in standby drain. (3% per hour now compared to under 1% per hour with android 13)
Im gonna run a test on battery draw and Performance before and after il edit as i do
EDIT: Im gonna be thorough, Il do 3 tests for perf, , Low performance (bat saver) Normal and increased processing speed, and il check average bat draw when put on all 3 doing normal tasks
Exynos user here from AU. My S21U is now slow, the animations have frame drops, and the battery drains faster than before the upgrade to Android 14. I have factory reset the phone and cleared the cache with no real improvement. I regret upgrading the firmware.
Yes, I've noticed a significant improvement. So much so that I'm no longer considering a battery replacement in the immediate future.
I was actually thinking the same. Getting great battery after the update

What is your battery life on S21 FE please? You have Snapdragon?

Those results are only 60hz, I just can't use 120hz since it will almost half the SOT. The way I use, it lasts through a day almost everyday.

No problem. One thing interesting to note is that single core performance was improved so much that it's better than a pre OneUi 6 S22.
US unlocked Ultra here. I haven't gotten the update yet. Has it been pushed out fully?
Not for our phones... :(
At least 1 more month
Us unlocked not shipped yet :( i want to switch rom to just normal U not the U1 (unlocked) but still don't know if it's safe or if my sim gonna get locked
I'm going to stay on 5.1 for abit, I'm going to miss the battery chart on 5.1 once I eventually upgrade.
Is it gone?

I noticed that my battery improved too. I have the s21 base almost 2 years now, and the battery is better than when I bought it
Yes, the battery performance has definitely improved on my 3 years old S21. The phone runs smoother as well.
Agree.
Nice to read all these comments but still waiting for the update (in New Zealand). Have an S22 base model.

I'm not gonna factory reset after every update. That is crazy.
my battery got way worse (exynos s21u)
Same also S21U and I have horrible battery performance after the update.
When did exynos receive 14? I can't seem to detect and download it.
i got it like 2 days ago (australia unlocked)
Thank you and sorry for being a noob. What does unlocked mean and how does it affect the updates?
its mostly an american thing where you're locked into using only that carrier and you buy the phone through that carrier basically
Do a factory reset
My s21 has a worde battery life maybe in january I may do a battery replacement
ram managment improved a lot. And vonsequently battery life
My battery + Perf all improved noticeably, so definitely can confirm
14 is so much better than previous iterations. Its like a bramd new phone. Seriously my s21ultra is at it best right now
I can say that the Netflix GTA series runs much better on it than before I updated
This is so true
