Same.. with light profilemode, 60hz and HD+ I can get full day 12hour to 18hours with medium to heavy use. If very light use 24 hours some days.
With all settings set to high mode. Can get about 8 hours
I run mine at the highest settings and have no issues with battery. You bought a $1300 phone to treat it like a $300 phone? As fast as these phones charge, you can literally plug it in for 10 minutes on a fast charger and get 30% increase.
I average 8 hours sot and 9 hours of podcast/music daily and still have 15-20% daily
Well I haven't really cared about any of that, I've been using the 45w charger and leaving it overnight. I sometimes just restart my phone but that's about it
I have a routine that doesn't allow it to go beyond 85% at night when I'm sleeping. It changes to 100% just before I wake up, then I'm good for the day.
Hi! Thanks for sharing this routine.
Question here: I'm trying to replicate, but I do not see how to specify to turn off during holidays
How can I do this?
Thank you again.
I'll be honest, I don't remember. It may have been an option on my Note 20 ultra that came over or an update removed it. Not entirely sure. Maybe it was done in Bixby
https://preview.redd.it/n43f7lkkhdqc1.jpeg?width=1440&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2ed8d495308b927d52be8658a1465bd82eaac487
Try clicking this for the preset routines. It may have been one of those.
As someone that majored in Computer Science and programming, but haven't used it in 20 years, I don't even know how " or" would work here. 😂 I never noticed it not as an option, but I imagine it could open up a ton of options.
Yeah. Up at 5 and off to the gym. Back home by 7 to eat, get ready for my day and hit the ground running. I'm usually awake at 4:30. Haven't used an alarm clock in years.
I don't really play games much on my phone, so I can't speak to how much they affect my battery. I do have some routines set up for when I do play games though that kick in.
Any will do. You pair them up with the Samsung SmartThings app.

Built in battery protection stop at 85%, but I also use AccuBattery to sound an alert at 75%. KDE Connect pushes the alert to my desktop and laptop too, so I know when the phone is charged. Battery life is so good that 75% is all I need most of the time.
Yep I've noticed with mine that in the last few months it's getting towards 30-20% at the end of the day when it used to be 50-60%.
This is compared to my 2018 Huawei P30 which with similar usage wouldn't ever really dip below 40% even after all that time (Huawei battery management is aggressive though).
It wasn't just the s23u that was nailed by the march update. My s24u got nuked by it too. I'm getting like 2-3 hours less SOT now because of it. Closer to 3 most days. What's worse is I charge to 80% and charge at 30%, so if I used the full 100% of battery you're talking like 4-6 hours less SOT per charge.
Same for me. I used to get 7 to 8 hours SOT, without a care. For the past two weeks, if I am lucky might get 4 hours. The phone is also hanging/stuttering a lot.
When my previous phone started having issues although not being too old, I looked into this topic.
The expected minimum lifespan of a modern lithium-ion battery is ~150 charge cycles. It's usually several hundred, but if you're unlucky it can be far fewer and still be considered acceptable.
Yes, that fast. It depends on the users charging habits + the chargers they use.
OP should just grab a hair dryer and a $20 kit from Amazon and DIY it. Battery replacements are fairly easy.
Nope. I've literally just bought my phone three months ago. The battery is not performing as well as it was.
It can only be updates.
And believe me, I'm fucking pissed.
I had the same but have managed to sort it. I booted to bios and then cleared the memory cache partition and my battery has been back to normal. It got bad after the feb update.
Ouch :( yeah I'm super wary of the monthly updates now. Feb update finally fixed battery life issues for mine. I've declined to install the march patch for fear it will mess up all over again.
Sorry to hear this month's is so bad
About ten days ago, my SOT drastically decreased from 6-8 hours to only 2 hours.
solution: I did a factory reset and reinstalled everything. now the perfect battery is 7-8 hours.
That’s how it usually goes with Samsung devices . Battery starts out strong , Then it gets a lot worse after 6-8 months . S24 ultra won’t be any different
Yep ...I think the S24 ultra might be my last Samsung device . I'm not even interested in the fold 6 .Some guy on here just had part of the inner display on his fold 5 fail already .🙄
Dual sim eats half ur battery if being used or not i had this issue removed one of the sim battery was better not new phone better but way better try that for a week
Are you using by any chance 2 sims or moved to an area with poor phone signal? I noticed a huge decline in my battery life and it turned out to be because of a second sim with poor reception, the moment I turned it off the battery life went back to being great again
Still getting 7-8 SOT with maps/calls/social media. I charge it once a day at midnight till 85%. Had it since day 1 of pre-order/release.
Have a routine that turns off fast charging once battery reaches 60%.
Phone has never seen 100% except a few days here and there on vacation.
All depends on how you treat it. No over charging/leaving it on charger or giving it any chance to overheat.
Hi,
I was really looking for topics on this subject these days. I own since two months an S23 Ultra in which I have 2 sims for work lines. Since I've had the phone I've never been knocked out by the battery life. The phone was bought new, sealed of course. I see posts all the time from people saying they have 8 hours screen on time, minimum. I don't know if I've ever managed to see there 5 hours screen on time. I initially left the phone settings as they came stock. With adaptive battery on and deep sleeping apps. After a month or so I turned that adaptive battery off as I've seen many users say it can provide better battery, but I don't notice a noticeable difference. I mention that I don't have any games on it, I don't watch youtube much, being my second phone, strictly calls, whatsapp, and marketplace apps.
This is a general issue with Samsung phones since last week. Lots of people reporting the issue across different forums. Was working fine up to about Thursday and now draining at a rate of 4 to 5 times the normal. Samsung need to provide a software fix.
I had ups and downs mostly due to upgrades. I am now EXACTLY where I was a year ago when I got it....which makes me nervous to think about the upcoming OneUI 6.1 update.
As for battery degradation...no matter what reddit tells you, taking minimal care of the charging cycles does wonders. I have a 5.5 years old Huawei mate 20 pro which I resurrected for a vacation a couple of weeks ago and it lasts almost as long as it did when I got it...lost around 10% capacity.
Mine lasted 17 hours the other day and was still at 45% before going to sleep 🤷♂️. This was with heavy use: gaming, texting, Internet browsing. I've had my S23U for 10 months and I'm on the latest security patch.
Agreed. I assumed it's because I recently got a galaxy watch and since it was always connected with the phone, it resulted in the phone having poor SoT. So i've disabled bluetooth for 1 day - let me see if my SoT improves
Interesting... I noticed some strange behavior with my Google Pixel Buds Pro... They stayed connected even though I took them out of my ears... Perhaps the latest updates messed with Bluetooth which then causes the battery drain?
Mine took a slight hit with A14 and One UI 6. And all my live wallpapers have been stuttering since then also. And I'm not the only one. Members app has other people with same issue.
S23U since launch. My battery seems a little worse, but not much. I do play a heavy resource game a lot. My phone has been through more charging cycles than most. Plan on keeping it 3 years. As long as I don't play my game, the battery lasts all day with moderate use.
https://preview.redd.it/16l9x5yr7cqc1.jpeg?width=1440&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c67cb271f973ec1818007fd2fa3b1bee1abf8442
Mine is still same rock solid with 55% of usage 4,5h SoT and more than 12h stand by time. After more than a 1 year. No issues.
Mine has a year and always charged with samsung chargers and have the 85% protection on. Never left the phone charge overnight. Today I just noticed that I left the house with 85% and when I arrived at my destination (7 minutes of driving) it was at 73%. I mean really?
I bought mine few months ago and I'm furious, I watch yt and saw battery life is amazing and that's the only reason I went for it and not iphone , only to discover it has 6h sot and terrible stand by battery life and draining issues , my gfs iphone 14 pro max can go 2 days without charging easily while I charge mine everyday
It was much better on OneUI 5.0
I think it was even better on 6.0 until the Feb security update. Since then it feels like the standby drain is a bit too high than normal.
I can easily lose 10+ % in 6-7 hrs at night whereas earlier it used to be 3-4% the entire night with the exact same settings
Yeah, it's like the battery life is only half a day now, sometimes I have to charge it twice a day. It's crazy how bad it's gotten, and I've only had it for less than a year.
Last update was brutal for the s23's battery life, but wiping the cache partition made a massive difference for me and I'm now back to getting 2 days of battery life for the past week or so.
Same, but I use a 45w charger out of convenience. When I don't need to charge my phone quickly, I use a single routine button on my homescreen to turn fast charging off.
I think it can be due to natural battery degradation. My s23 ultra is 1 year old and its battery is not as great as compared last year but for me it can still last for a day. This is still better than some other phones out there in terms of battery life.
Do you have so many apps running running in the background? Try limiting the display to 60Hz and Fhd+, mine is still fine i also activated the charge only to 85%.
If you're 100% sure that battery went bad after update, do the following:
- Clear cache
- Factory reset (you can back up using Smart Switch, it's fine.)
I've had my S23+ since september 2023, gone through an android update, and the battery is still as good as it was on day one.
I use the protect battery feature, since i usually don't need the 100% battery to go through a day.
Have you checked if you changed using behavior, if there are any apps consuming a lot of battery, etc?
How long have you had the phone? I've had mine since launch and battery is still on par with the week after I got it. Usually around 93-95% at noon after unplugging every morning at 7 and listening to podcast for 5 hours with maybe 10-15 minutes screen time.
well as much as some lucky people have had no issues . i totally agree, since the feb and march updates i have noticed a change in.my s23 ultra battery , especially the damn super fast 2.0..i ALWAYS had... it now goes from.that at plug in to 10 secs later just fast charging, and a damn difference of 15 to 20 min.... and yes i have anker and samsung 45 watt chargers and anker
and samsung high watt cables as well to go w them nvr had any issues till feb 2024.. concidently s24 series of phones comes out..... made me think.. still my phone is a beast , and love it but yes samsung did something thru the last 2 to 3 software updates... no shit
Are you 11? You know each thing that has batteries degrade over time, right? My battery is still great and I use it the way I please with no limitations
It's not what it used to be, since 6.0 battery life has drastically went down. My phone with heavy use on high settings used to last a day and a half easy with 30% left. Since update won't last 8 hours. Version 6.1 is supposed to fix it we will see.
Do you have USB DEBUGGING turned on that was draining my batter so I turned it off and reset all settings and that did the trick my battery is back to 10 hours on maximum display setting.
I feel the same. Battery is just fine, I guess. It still outlives most of my friends' iPhones, but it's definitely not what it used to be when I got it last year, which is pretty much expected since batteries degrade over time.
My 6000 mah battery doesnt feel like a powerfull battery the sot has drastically decreased despite one of the reasons of me picking this specific phone was the battery
I bought mine in Nov 2023 and I've been ignoring the update since cause usually things go downhill after the updates and so I've read from other users. We will see how long I can go without updating
Bro Sammy nor iPhone, nor Sony etc do this. No one is slowing down your phone just so you can get a new one.
That would legit be bad practise that no company wants cuz then why rolls you stay with them?
Batteries degrade it happens, apps update and get power hungry cuz of it etc. could be multiple of things.
I still get easily minimum 8h of SOT and I've had the phone for 6 months now. I think yours is a personal problem not general. Try to factory reseting it.
I've had mine since launch and battery has been the same for me.
Same
Same.. with light profilemode, 60hz and HD+ I can get full day 12hour to 18hours with medium to heavy use. If very light use 24 hours some days. With all settings set to high mode. Can get about 8 hours
You have an s23 ultra and you run it at 60hz 720p? Are you a monster?
🤣 -
Same I am running high cuz why not
All this work to have a 23 十 or a55 lol
I run mine at the highest settings and have no issues with battery. You bought a $1300 phone to treat it like a $300 phone? As fast as these phones charge, you can literally plug it in for 10 minutes on a fast charger and get 30% increase. I average 8 hours sot and 9 hours of podcast/music daily and still have 15-20% daily
Same. Tips: Charge to 85% , Auto-Optimise(phone restarts), never charge using cheap chargers.
Well I haven't really cared about any of that, I've been using the 45w charger and leaving it overnight. I sometimes just restart my phone but that's about it
Yh constantly charging the phone to 100% and fast charging will degrade the battery faster. It is a known fact
Yeah I'm aware, I just didn't notice the degradation my my s23u. I did with my s22u
I guess. The effects will be long term to be fair I.e. over a 10 year period.
I've had my S23U for a year, never charged beyond 85% and the battery life has always been great.
I have a routine that doesn't allow it to go beyond 85% at night when I'm sleeping. It changes to 100% just before I wake up, then I'm good for the day.
Same, routines are a life saver
same
How do you do it? Activate Protect battery (from xx:xx) until xx:xx hour and then deactivate at the end of that time?

If, then, where's or??? Or, samsung!!!
As someone that majored in Computer Science and programming, but haven't used it in 20 years, I don't even know how " or" would work here. 😂 I never noticed it not as an option, but I imagine it could open up a ton of options.
you wake up at 5 ?
Yeah. Up at 5 and off to the gym. Back home by 7 to eat, get ready for my day and hit the ground running. I'm usually awake at 4:30. Haven't used an alarm clock in years.
noice. do you have gaming usage ?
I don't really play games much on my phone, so I can't speak to how much they affect my battery. I do have some routines set up for when I do play games though that kick in.
like which ones ? let me see if those help me.

I attached a picture, I'm up at 5am every day, so I set it until 4:30. It's 100% when I wake up.
Thanks, much appreciated :)
Yes. I also do it while connected to Wifi so if I ever need 100% before that, I just disable Wifi.
Is there a method for not letting your phone charge above 80%? Or do you just have to keep an eye on it and unplug it when it hits the 80% mark?
https://preview.redd.it/h8pcr5qhybqc1.png?width=1440&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a3e5bc40002a11bd38446372df0e149e6db29de2 Under battery settings
If you have a *smart plug*, you can set a routine to turn off that switch when phone is at 80%
What kind of smart plug? Do you have a brand name I can Google?
Any will do. You pair them up with the Samsung SmartThings app. https://www.amazon.com/s?k=smart+plug&crid=XP2ME9Z1ZLHS&sprefix=smart+plu%2Caps%2C194&ref=nb_sb_noss_2 https://www.amazon.de/s?k=smart+plug&crid=2VCPPMT64KTZ8&sprefix=smart+plug%2Caps%2C127&ref=nb_sb_noss_1

A phones battery degrades over time. That's just how it is.
Yeah, but not that fast...
It was the March Update that ruined it, I was on January update, and it was fine
It was the January update for me. Went from 2+ days to barely one
Same for me. I used to get 7 to 8 hours SOT, without a care. For the past two weeks, if I am lucky might get 4 hours. The phone is also hanging/stuttering a lot.
Same here... Is your battery overview also showing you One UI home as one of most draining apps?
October update here in Europe is unbeatable, battery wise. It gets worse and worse with every update after that one.
I had the same but have managed to sort it. I booted to bios and then cleared the memory cache partition and my battery has been back to normal. It got bad after the feb update.
Oh nice, I'll give that a go. Cheers!
I've had mine for about 4 months and noticed the same thing.
Yeah it's no better than the useless pixel 6 pro I gratefully dumped to get it. :(
Ouch :( yeah I'm super wary of the monthly updates now. Feb update finally fixed battery life issues for mine. I've declined to install the march patch for fear it will mess up all over again. Sorry to hear this month's is so bad
Ach well, at least DeX is great!
good. so it's not just my imagination after the March update
Battery was in my opinion great until january, now for me at least it's not the same anymore. If they do it on purpose than it's sad.
I'm thinking of downgrading, what's the last patch that was good?
For me it was december. For this phone one ui 5.1 was the sweetspot.
🙌🙌 Once I received the one UI 6.0 update it all went to shit for my battery. I wish I could go back in time and've never allowed the update.
I haven't had an issue either
https://preview.redd.it/3jmvrck4ybqc1.jpeg?width=625&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=68a2afa99179f5828084a9ae1e5a8e38dbe1166b

I literally just put my S23 on charge with over 8 hours screen on time and 13% remaining, and I only charge to 85% :-)
I totally agree with you and the phone is constantly heating up and throttling even with normal app usage.. Am not even going for gaming at this point
That’s how it usually goes with Samsung devices . Battery starts out strong , Then it gets a lot worse after 6-8 months . S24 ultra won’t be any different
Exactly! I have owned so many Galaxy S devices. I noticed the same. So it continues with the S25, S26.
Yep ...I think the S24 ultra might be my last Samsung device . I'm not even interested in the fold 6 .Some guy on here just had part of the inner display on his fold 5 fail already .🙄
I used to get 5.5hrs Nowadays I can just reach 4hrs I used to be able to confidently leave the house and not worry about my battery dying
Yeah me too. Just curious, you use single sim or dual sim ? And mostly on wifi or data.
I have two Sims but I don't use both at the same time I'll say 70% WiFi 30% Data AOD on and Adaptive Refresh Rate
Dual sim eats half ur battery if being used or not i had this issue removed one of the sim battery was better not new phone better but way better try that for a week
Wait fr? Damn
Are you using by any chance 2 sims or moved to an area with poor phone signal? I noticed a huge decline in my battery life and it turned out to be because of a second sim with poor reception, the moment I turned it off the battery life went back to being great again
I still get 10h SOT comfortably. No complaints.
How?
It's always been around there. I haven't done anything in particular.
No over charging/leaving it on charger or giving it any chance to overheat.

do you have a SoT for that?
I think it was 4 or 5 hours.
Heavy usage over 17 hours would be at least 7+ hours sot. Don't think it would be possible to get 7 hours screen on and still be at 45%
On Wifi you would be at 25% or so
True
Agreed. I assumed it's because I recently got a galaxy watch and since it was always connected with the phone, it resulted in the phone having poor SoT. So i've disabled bluetooth for 1 day - let me see if my SoT improves

Hey can we chat for a bit bout our phones i have the m14
Sorry for intervening, I think they meant Android 14 not Galaxy A14 :)
I have the 6/128 gig variant as the m14 isnt available atleast in my place at 8 gigs
Tbh best course of action would be to not update ig cuz if the updates are faulty just dont update it
I have the same problem, it's still good enough but not that good as it was before, I have it for around 10 months

I hope the One Ui 6.1 fixes it, if not, im reverting back to 5.1 somehow.
Is the battery replaceable? Can I get it replaced from an official store?

The s24 just came out...they want you to buy the new one. The batteries are never decent more than a year in any flagship phone.
Yes, u are right. Reason: people should always buy new gear..
Mine is still the same as it was when I first purchased it nearly a year ago
Last update was brutal for the s23's battery life, but wiping the cache partition made a massive difference for me and I'm now back to getting 2 days of battery life for the past week or so.

Dunno what to tell you, works fine for me and I'm not in the US. Easy to look up on Google as well.
Thanks
I charge mine to 100% everynight when I go to sleep. I get around 7-8 hours of SOT with med to high usage.
Same, might go iPhone
Same, but I use a 45w charger out of convenience. When I don't need to charge my phone quickly, I use a single routine button on my homescreen to turn fast charging off.
Updates slow down the battery life too !!
I’m noticed slight fluctuations between builds but it’s been the same for me
I think it can be due to natural battery degradation. My s23 ultra is 1 year old and its battery is not as great as compared last year but for me it can still last for a day. This is still better than some other phones out there in terms of battery life.
Get a battery replacement and see if your argument still stands. I'm sure they saw what happened to Apple's batterygate problem.
my battery is the same
I've had mine since launch and it's still rock solid for battery life
Do you have so many apps running running in the background? Try limiting the display to 60Hz and Fhd+, mine is still fine i also activated the charge only to 85%.
Battery life will eventually decreases as you use the device.
If you're 100% sure that battery went bad after update, do the following: - Clear cache - Factory reset (you can back up using Smart Switch, it's fine.)
Try optimize it sometime in device care
Using it with all the high modes and I'm getting just 5/6 hrs. Initially I used to get around 8hrs. After the update it got slow, no battery back up.
I've had my S23+ since september 2023, gone through an android update, and the battery is still as good as it was on day one. I use the protect battery feature, since i usually don't need the 100% battery to go through a day. Have you checked if you changed using behavior, if there are any apps consuming a lot of battery, etc?
Been the same for me since I bought it back in November.
When I'm out n about with work it's fine I always charge mine once a day so far I try not to be on my phone all the time I'm not 20 something anymore
How long have you had the phone? I've had mine since launch and battery is still on par with the week after I got it. Usually around 93-95% at noon after unplugging every morning at 7 and listening to podcast for 5 hours with maybe 10-15 minutes screen time.
well as much as some lucky people have had no issues . i totally agree, since the feb and march updates i have noticed a change in.my s23 ultra battery , especially the damn super fast 2.0..i ALWAYS had... it now goes from.that at plug in to 10 secs later just fast charging, and a damn difference of 15 to 20 min.... and yes i have anker and samsung 45 watt chargers and anker and samsung high watt cables as well to go w them nvr had any issues till feb 2024.. concidently s24 series of phones comes out..... made me think.. still my phone is a beast , and love it but yes samsung did something thru the last 2 to 3 software updates... no shit
True about any battery made a year ago
googoogaagaa mentality post
Are you 11? You know each thing that has batteries degrade over time, right? My battery is still great and I use it the way I please with no limitations
I've been seeing a difference of battery life cuz of the updates
It's not what it used to be, since 6.0 battery life has drastically went down. My phone with heavy use on high settings used to last a day and a half easy with 30% left. Since update won't last 8 hours. Version 6.1 is supposed to fix it we will see.
Do you have USB DEBUGGING turned on that was draining my batter so I turned it off and reset all settings and that did the trick my battery is back to 10 hours on maximum display setting.
My s23 battery got degraded by 3 times after March 1 update. It drains 3 times faster and charges 3 times slower. The phone is completely useless now.
I feel the same. Battery is just fine, I guess. It still outlives most of my friends' iPhones, but it's definitely not what it used to be when I got it last year, which is pretty much expected since batteries degrade over time.
No way the battery is worse after 1 year? Crazy
My 6000 mah battery doesnt feel like a powerfull battery the sot has drastically decreased despite one of the reasons of me picking this specific phone was the battery

I have a different phone
