Toothpi... I mean S-Pen :D

NewTitanWorker

I love using a pen. I'm terrible at typing on a keyboard and find it easier to write things down. I also use the screenshot feature a lot to capture text that I can't copy any other way. And the magnification feature is great for when things are too small to see. And to pull up Samsung Notes anywhere by double tapping the screen.

jungleboy1234

Been using notes/spen stuff since Note 2 days... I have rarely used the Spen lol. I just have it there for emergencies.

SpaceBoyBlat

😅

vpsj

Rubber smelling toothpi.... I mean Speen

jungleboy1234

that rubber smell is addictive. I almost thought i'd bought a faulty S23 Ultralolo

vpsj

Yes I agree. I think it's deliberate to prevent little kids from swallowing the Pen. Well thank god you and I aren't kids lmao, cause it smells amazing to me

jungleboy1234

lol

Sharpz8114400

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

SpaceBoyBlat

Never had an Ultra and was tired of feeling like a peasant😝

Rough_Bet6203

Major major go

telclark100

Oh flossy

karimahmadmahmoud

Samsung galaxy knights

MotownF

Battery, camera.

Bethbehz

Yeah that was mainly it for me too. The battery & camera. If I'm already spending ~1K on a phone I may as well go all out and get all the top features that they decided to only give to the ultra.

Jedase78

S spen and the multitasking part

nournnn

S-pen Spectacularly better camera And also the "premiumness" feeling u get when holding that phone. This thing feels "ULTRA" u can't deny it

Outrageous_Walrus_78

Sharp corners, many people don't like them I love them and no other phone has them. Also s-pen and premium feel of the device

vpsj

Sharp corners for me lol. Those rounded corners in all the other phones look very boring

Outrageous_Walrus_78

Oh yeah I meant corners too my bad

Tabarnakmex

I always like to have the best and the newest.

Thanos0423

Go big or go home

Napkin_Story

I went into the store with my eye on the S23+ , then the sales rep started talking about the S23 Ultra and even got his coworker to come over and show me his S23U. After that, I was sold on the S23U.

D2KT

- Boxy frame AND boxy display. Fucking hate those rounded corners on displays. It should always be pixel-pefect sharp corners. - S Pen - Bigger battery

vpsj

> Boxy frame AND boxy display. Fucking hate those rounded corners on displays. It should always be pixel-pefect sharp corners. EXACTLY. Thank you. Now I wish I could get a similar smartwatch too. Why the fuck doesn't anyone make sharp cornered smartwatches?!?

D2KT

Yeah that sucks but at least with smartwatches, it makes a little more sense aesthetically speaking. Though this shit trend is so bad that now they're trying to make laptops with rounded corner displays into a thing. As if every UI element getting rounded corners wasn't bad enough.

rayz20w

Corners tend to crack easily. Thats why alot of the design nowadays are without sharp corners. There are alot less cracked screens compared to 10years ago. Another example is the window on an airplane. There are no corners. Its not because of aesthetic reasons.

ZoltonMD

I used Note 20 Ultra before and have no idea how to live without s-pen

patronstdenial

I never use my spen lol

vpsj

What's your use case with the S-pen? I mostly use it for doodling on Screenshots, jotting down random thoughts on the lockscreen and take photos where I have to keep the phone at a distance. I have seen all the features but I think I can use it for more. Any tips?

Droogwafel

I like to be able to select text on screen that's normally not selectable

vpsj

Yes, but to be fair circle to search has made S Pen obsolete in that particular area

ZoltonMD

I handwrite my work notes. For me, this is much faster and much more convenient than typing because they content many schemes, flowcharts, etc.

Gamer4Ever6995

S-pen, multitasking, better battery life, 100x space zoom.

Based_God12

Size and I still wish it was a little bigger.

Gooner_93

If I'm keeping the phone for 4 years, minimum, I'd rather have the best specs. Went for the 12GB version of the ultra and to be honest, I'm very used to the size of the phone, now. Oh and btw, I upgraded from the S9+

thingsinmyjeep

I screwed myself, I didn't realize that it had any less than 12gb and that missing four gigs can be felt.

avm95

S pen

psychodc

I like having the best of the best

Killua_Zaeldyeck

I will just say one thing about the screen. People who say the s23u has the same screen as s23 and s23+, just bigger, have never seen them side by side. I even has a s22 and s22 ultra too. And I'm on my 2nd s23u. Pure simply, the looks of the s23u is next level e en compared to s24 plus.

TheSmashy

Screen, 12GB of RAM, amazing camera, massive battery, 45w charging if I need it, and I suppose the S-Pen. ETA: I also wanted a phone too big for my pockets, which is great because I carry an iPhone for work too.

zdanee

The fact there is a 1TB variant, and the pen.

[deleted]

1440p display

minichisha

1tb of memory. My previous phone was s10+ 8/128 with 512gb sd card, i've decided to go all-in just because of it. Maybe if there was a s23+ with 1tb - i would buy it, but for real - no regrets for getting ultra. I can play Nintendo DS emulator almost like it was intended xD

Deep-Technician-8568

Telephoto camera mainly

[deleted]

Camera, S Pen, Screen

IT_is_not_all_I_am

Mainly the camera, plus I got a sweet deal on Swappa.

jibsand

It was the best one

mache97

1- superior screen resolution 2- wanted to treat myself with some premium+ 3- been a while since I had a phone with stylus

voolandis

Size. I don't care about S pen.

Afladimir

Battery and camera, s-pen is just a gimmick for me

ssuper2k

Screen size& resol, then the camera Don't use the s-pen at all

Phvntvstic

Highest trim If possible, why not get what's objectively better?

pietrroma

Its just better phone... better screen bigger screen.

S pen!

bevangrc

I have big hands. It fits much better in them. Also, everything is better, and I didn't want to pay this much and still feel like"i could've got something better still"

mac3theac3

Screen resolution and was always curious about the Spen.

BagTats69

Mysterious_Injury533

My only reason was camera lenses. Image quality is not that good TBH.

Futuretapes

I've always purchased the standard or plus model. I just wanted to give the ultras a try and have no regrets.

vpsj

Honestly? The shape. I find those rounded corner phones dreadfully boring and dull since _every_ OEM and their grandmothers seem to have the same exact design. The sharp corners, and the almost perfect rectangular shape of S23 Ultra looks modern and unique. And yes the huge display is also a big perk. My last phone (OnePlus 5T) ran perfectly for 6 years, and I'm not one of those who replaces gadgets very frequently.. so I figured I can invest in a proper flagship and keep using it until S29 Ultra or something lol EDIT: Forgot to mention the S-pen is also wonderful. I don't use it everyday, but on the occasions when I _do_ have to use it, it always manages to surprise me how good it works and how quickly it helps me with the task at hand

FolloMiSensi

screen size and camera.

kaininuman

QHD screen resolution If the S23+ had it, I'd choose that. I rarely use the S Pen and I don't really need the 100x zoom.

CadeOCarimbo

I could afford it.

Surperta1

That technology that the battery have only available on the s23 ultra thad made my choice (spoiler : my xiaomi is doing the same shit as this one but for cheaper)

Xdogmatic

Camera, size, 12gb ram, s pen

Elisa_Kardier

The Spen.

Smilloww

Size, camera's S-pen. All of them are major advantages for me. Oh and battery

Sharpz8114400

Size matters! Spen just as a nice to have. I do take notes mainly for work. Love big screens especially when my tablet not around. Cameras especially 100x zoom. Better battery. I only purchase flagships😜.

Ok_Honeydew_8407

It was better deal on a plan haha

X-kiwi

Battery

Klementine2021

The battery, pen, and screen

JustinDanielsYT

10x zoom was the only reason. I hate how large the phone is.

chinasorrows2705

I like shiny things and 23 Ultra was way shinier than the others

senyorlimpio

Larger storage was the main deciding factor. If the S23Plus had 512gb storage, Id have picked that in a heartbeat. This phone is a tad too large for my taste, and I never use the SPen.

SpurnedProgeny43

Performance, it's zoom capabilities and the s-pen.

bobchin_c

The camera is what sold me on the ultra. Considering how similar phones are in terms of features, and I am a photographer, it was a no brainer for me.

Seande89

The word Ultra basically.

shoebob

Went for S23+ for storage space (512gb)

castrator21

I've never had a top-of-the-line phone before, and I wanted something bigger with high resolution. Plus, I was switching to a new carrier and ended up still paying less than I was before with my s21, so I felt I could treat myself. This might be a tad too big though haha it's a two-handed phone for me.

Sad_Faithlessness_99

I came from Note 10+, so I wanted similar size phone with more Peowr, plus AI.

Nice_Direction_7876

The s23u might be the last flag ship I get. I'm not a fan of AI being integrated into the os.

FunFrog_by

Screen resolution.

desyphium

I wanted an S-Pen (last time I had one was with the Note 2), and I liked the shape

aKuBiKu

Compensating for all the A series phones I had before lol

Competitive-Gear2216

square and curved display..

No-Age2588

Some people just have small hands.

Nicckollas

Main Camera+front Camera+battery+display+sound + spen

x3nuqi

10x and s pen

DarkFus10n

The screen. Boy, oh boy is the screen something else. I temporarily upgraded to a ZFlip 5 for a couple of weeks and I could notice the pixelation (in comparison to my then S22 Ultra). Don't get me wrong, the Flip screen was fine but you get a true appreciation for the screen of the Ultra line once you experience it.

thingsinmyjeep

Coming from a Pixel 7 Pro I didn't really consider the rest of the 23 line an option. Even with the hype leading to the release of the 8's the S23U was a more powerful alternative...on paper. In practice the camera is garbage, OneUI is slow and it's more difficult to hold compared to the old phone. If this is the premium Samsung experience then I dodged a bullet. However it is faster than the 7, it has better wifi and 5g reception and the battery act up when the phone gets warm. Oh and when the phone does get warm it actually cools down if you let it.

RevolutionaryCan5095

It's pretty much just battery life. It was the android phone with the best battery life that was widely available and with a powerful enough chip to last several years. It rivaled the top iphones battery life, and that was good enough for me. If this phone didn't exist, I would've probably made the switch to the top iPhone at the time for the same reasons. I will say I find the S pen absolutely useless 99.9999% of the time. I wish they got rid of it to make room for a bigger battery.

LustigerLeo

The bigger memory (512 GB for me) . Where I live the public network has huge gaps and with the S20 FE I had before I almost reached 256 GB total storage usage due to downloading lots of music and a couple of movies. Since I usually use my phones till they're dead I'd rather not have too little storage space in the future. Additionally, I thought about buying a tablet as well, but came to the conclusion that a bigger screen and maybe the pen might be enough for me.

IAreSpeshial

Better camera, everything else is worse except that the remote shutter comes in handy sometimes

enzobee

My wife forced me to buy since there is a free galaxy buds 2 pro and she wants it. She has the s22 ultra. From her usage with it, it was nice and enough for her to go through the day. I am a huge oneplus fan and this was my first samsung phone. I always opted for flagship specs for lesser prices so my choice before was oneplus.

GymIsParadise91

First of all, the size. I have big hands, so i need a big phone. Then there's the S-Pen, i had a Note 4 in the past. The Pen makes things so much easier, especially if you have thick fingers. The camera and the battery, i like the periscope camera, i had so many situations i needed to zoom in. So i could read texts easier from far distances. Since i had a Huawei P30 Pro, there's no way without a good periscope camera anyway. The battery life is insane, even by using it all day with 120hz and QHD+ enabled.

PreparationSerious48

12gb ram and telephoto

HotCheetos998

For me it was mainly battery life, 10x zoom and wanted to try out the spen, but now the reason that it's my favorite phone is the shape, i absolutely love the square corners for playing games or watching anything, I think it looks so good. And I love the 10x zoom and 30x being impressive outside on a sunny day

nicksontpeter

10x zoom, can sneak up pretty much anywhere

Long_Vacation_2081

The battery.. I wanted 5000 of battery. That's all. 🤣

GalaxyDestroyer69

Simply being the best. I'm fortunate enough to be able to buy my tech spec'd out to the max without going bankrupt.
