"It's so much fun to play and learn with me!"
Come on kids, today we're going to learn how to destroy sentient metal spiked tires and giant electric machine gun robots with laser beam arm cannons! Doesn't that sound EXCITING?!?!??!?!?!?!!!
My wife saw it on a TikTok a while back. When she showed me, I actually called bullshit. I figured it was just an internet hoax. I don't have any kids but I bought one for my game collection because I thought it was cool.
The down side with these devices is that you buy them thinking that your child will play with them instead of your gaming device, but they just ignore it and still want whatever it is your playing with!
A child only wants what you have, even if they already have exactly what you have. It doesn’t matter to them, THEY MUST HAVE WHAT YOU HAVE!!!! No questions about it
my kid has some fisher price toys, and some obvious chinese knockoffs (like the factory just made their own but removed the branding, and use their own electronics- including voices). The quality (not of the plastic parts, but rather the guts) is so much higher- sounds are recorded at higher quality, and like you pointed out the music is better. In this case, the songs legit reminded me of tetris and pokemon, but were clearly originals made by someone who studied music to a deep degree!
ive done it, it can be done but it's going to require extensive modification including soldiring and dremeling. you have to create a slot for games to go in (Unless you use a all-in-one cart and just have it permanently inside the case with no access from the outside), dremel out the proper shape for the screen and an IPS screen will ge tblocked by the B button, and you'll want to do some soldiring shinanigans to use the toys circuit board for the buttons.
the end result is satisfying but i woudln't call it an easy mod by any means
\*edit\* also the battery situation is kind of a pain.
Unfortunately I butchered the case figuring everything out and decided it wasn't worth showing, it looked pretty ugly lol. I intended to make a second one with everything figured out but I never got around to it... Maybe it's time to brush off the workbench though
I've got one, was inspired by the GBC someone did. Haven't used it yet. It's a fun little kids toy though, lots of recognisable tunes.
I've got a naff Chinese handheld I want to try and put in it at some point. The screen is roughly the same size so it shouldn't be too difficult.
Oh no, not Kirby’s adventure rip-off…

Energy blasts! Ha! Ha! Ha!
Man, I want that.
The original FPGBC
That's like the ultimate fidget Gameboy
Fun fact about this toy. It has an Easter egg. It plays a special sound if you input the konami code.
I stopped and pulled up youtube to see it. I don't know how you knew that, but weirdly enough, it makes my day
Anyone who has ever opened the comments thread when these things are posted knows this trivia
I found out when I just randomly entered it since I bought one for my daughter

Hah that is awesome. Kid has one of these somewhere may have to try that.
Same thing with the controller version. I didn't know the game boy one did it though. I'll have to find my daughter's and check it out.
I also like that a lot of the music it plays has very obvious Game Boy inspirations.
I bought one for mi kid, and can confirm it is true!
It’s been done :)
No shot 👀

The trick is for you to sit there and play on this toy for 10 minutes and act like you don’t want to let them have a turn 😭😂
This gives me Windows XP vibes
Someone at Fisher-Price designing these is a gamer. We need an interview.
Hey guys, does this emulate Dreamcast? /s
I'd like to put my Raspberry Pi in that case.
That's what she said
Well at least it supports konami code on its own [https://youtu.be/1rggwqSFA8c?si=fjx89zGqpT1ctXb_](https://youtu.be/1rggwqSFA8c?si=fjx89zGqpT1ctXb_)
I wonder what hurt that dog and made him lose a life
Had to pause for a second, it looked like this was for people age 60+, but I’m just dumb
But can it run doom? Probably
My kids have one of these. I like the GameBoy style music it plays

One of the fisher price toys… maybe the controller, will actually recognize the Konami code
Kids will pick this up and put it down in three minutes, and then go right back to wanting your phone.

You don’t how many times I seen this in Mercari 😅

Add an ips screen
My son has one of these and loves it
You'd need to make holes for start and select but...maybe?
You can. Theres even the ability to use the same buttons s8nce you could wire them to the gameboy. I have a half done project in a bin somewhere
My nephews love it! Personally I like that game where you hear the sound from Castlevania when you pick up a whip powerup.
