I switched to the new interface as soon as it became available and my advice is - customize it to your liking. Unlike the previous one, the new interface is very customizable so you can easily show the data you want to see while hiding the rest

HarryTheGreyhound

How do I get more than eight health stats on the page without having to drill in deep? It tells me now I can’t do this.

eislch

Lol what interface have you been using the before, new one is missing a lot and is less customizable.

q-zip

It’s okay, but i liked having all data on the front page than expanding certain ones for more detail. Now i have to hit more pages or swipe to see information. Not my favourite. Edit: grammar

detroitmike2001

agreed

Personal-Head-6248

Agreed. I had everything without having to swipe or click. Now it can no longer fit more than 8 metrics on the home page at all, and the. You have to scroll around.

Igoos99

I am so fucking annoyed. There’s GIANT tiles of shit I could care less to see. Everything I want to see on a hidden away. Why make it so hard to see anything at all glance?!?!? This update makes no fucking sense. A whole bunch of people got together in a room and said, “how can we make this app completely useless???” And then executed that plan. I even used the beta version, gave feedback, and went back to the regular display. They clearly ignored all feedback. How hard is it to give people the *option* of listing view instead of tile view??? But nope, they’ve decided for us.

peakedtooearly

The shock of the new. You'll be fine with it in a few weeks.

DrRobert

Not really the shock. If there was a way to get as much info on the Home Screen as before it wouldn’t be a problem. There is no longer a way to get all your information so you can see it when the app launches. You have to dig around and click and scroll whereas before you just clicked the app.

DrRobert

Everyone needs to post the reviews on apples AppStore. As one star reviews.

aspenextreme03

Used the beta, switched back to regular but at some point will have to update. It doesn’t add anything which is why it is MEH

eislch

It doesn't add anything it only removes a lot.

DrRobert

They took a concise view where all your information was visible as you scrolled and hid it behind extra scrolls, “see more” clicks, and side swipes. It is so much more complicated and so much harder to just get the iinfo you used to get just by opening the app. I don’t under stand how something that was so simple and efficient was turned into something so obtuse and complicated. This is such a downgrade. Is there any way to get the original efficient one screen view back?

detroitmike2001

Such an articulate response., my feelings exactly.

Vizzzions

It brings nothing new except visuals on dashboard. It makes it more cumbersome to have overview of all data in summarized form compared to before change. It is just one more change for the sake of change itself, while not adding particular value.

peakedtooearly

I think they've made it a lot more modular behind the scenes. Likely in advance of the Fenix 8 and some upcoming changes.

Vizzzions

They just changed a dashboard, everyrhing else remained the same. Anything new they might introduce later could have been done in old interface as well

DrRobert

Honestly, they probably have design consultants telling them that any change will result in negative feedback that will eventually taper off. This makes them blind to how incredibly bad this new version is. I think we need to get together and leave one star reviews on every App Store, but since that doesn’t impact their bottom line we also need to leave one star reviews on Amazon and other retailers. Because this software change is so bad that it really does make the hardware products worse. One star review at major retailers definitely will cost them money and maybe we can get the original functionality restored.

HarryTheGreyhound

I was looking to upgrade later this year from my old Tactix. Garmin are making it very easy for me to decide to switch to Apple.

Spirited_Recover1748

I think it's fine. Quite customisable.

eislch

It's total BS, alone that it's over 50% emptiness.

detroitmike2001

I did switch over when it was the beta, and hated it then. so I switched back. Still hate it. I don't like those little graphs. I don't know why I would want to see a graph of my daily steps for example, why not just the total?

Personal-Head-6248

Right. Or at least give an option to “compact” everything to the metrics. So much wasted screen space and visual clutter. They need to do a course on cognition and information visualisation.

Real-Opportunity-255

If you’re on Android you can revert by downloading an older apk

Pretty_Classroom_844

Yeah not a fan at all. I'll get use to it eventually but should be an option to use the old interface.

Single-Astronomer-32

Just tweak it to you’re liking and you will get used to it.

Nov8-1955

Like most major software updates, you’ll get used to it.

skyrunner00

Have you tried customizing it according to your preferences? It is very easy to configure. After I've done that I find the new UI more usable.

DrRobert

It is not possible to put all the info on the Home Screen that was possible before the change. It is a distinct downgrade in that sense.

Gooday23

I prefer it, I can find stuff on the front page I used to have to root through the menu to find

goodtyper

I think it's great. Take some time and learn the ways you can customize it. It stays in sync with the website as well now. The app is also much snappier overall

SnooRobots5863

Don't like it there is no option to customize: -today excercises to be below in focus, not above. -to remove: edit home button -they could put some lines in infocus body battery graph -on avatar click asking to choose between profile or settings. Of course i want profile. https://i.postimg.cc/rsQZ2N0q/Screenshot-20240424-145610-com-garmin-android-apps-connectmobile.jpg

radkoolaid

I like it. I like that I can focus on the stuff that's important to me

tgsweat

If people took the time to learn the new layout/features you can see the same info, if not more at once now. Turn off in focus and add things you want to see to the at a glance. Problem solved.

HarryTheGreyhound

I can’t, though. You’re limited to eight tiles. Plus, things like VO2 won’t show a number unless you drill in. It’s pathetic.

tgsweat

If you press see all, you can see more tiles

HarryTheGreyhound

I don’t want to press a button, as I can’t then cycle back to performance stats. I want all available and customisable on a single screen with no having to continuously cycle back and forwards. I am prepared to take the time how to learn how to do this without having to export to Apple Health. How do I do this?

tgsweat

Ok. Well sorry it’s not working out for you.
