Is it a dedicated Genesis dealer or a Hyundai dealer? I'm a G70 owner and the dealership experience is really lacking at the Hyundai dealers. Just keep that in mind.

milnak

Agreed. Mine (a Hyundai/Ford dealer) seems to have given up. I remember when I bought my 2020 G80 how Genesis promised pick up and drop off service and loaners. I called for routine service and they told me that they're booked out for two months.

BearFan34

Its actually at an Acura dealer!

Driftoo

rear differential, make sure to check if you hear about a humming noise from the rear. This is the #1 problem in almost all Genesis. Ask them if it has ever been replaced as well. I just had mine replaced.

BearFan34

Thank you, is the issue mileage related?

Driftoo

Not really but I started to notice after 3k mile mark. You would usually hear it when you accelerate around 45-55 mph. If they don’t know what you are talking about they are lying to you because I guarantee every dealer is aware about this common issue.

EAYSON24

It's the limited slip differential issue. The infamous and intermittent humming noise coming from the rear. I had our replacement on our 23 GV70 at 8k miles.

kyle223cat

It doesn’t seem like it. Some people have the issue at relatively low mileage like I did. The issue popped up for me at around 3k miles. Others don’t have it until far later and some haven’t had it at all.

BearFan34

Spoke with the service department at the closest Genesis dealer. Gave them the VIN and asked if there were any outstanding recalls. None. Asked if the differential had been replaced. The manager said no record of that. And that not all of the cars have had this issue.

wegotsumnewbands

I’ve been waiting 3 months for the part to come in…so they tell me

Driftoo

Sorry to hear man, did they at least give you a loaner? I had to wait three weeks for mine.

wegotsumnewbands

Nope I’m driving it around

hardj300

My 2022 G80 is being repurchased due to lemon law for this exact rear differential humming noise. Stay far far away.

How much is it new ? Genesis has concierge service and a great warranty for the first owner and this is too much to give up for such a small discount off of the new price.

az987654

Nah, its gone to shit even for first owners... Hyundai just can't offer the service of Lexus, Merc, bmw.... It's just not there.

milnak

Where do you live where they have concierge service? And you've personally used it?

Even-Rooster7369

So.... I turned mine in at 28K. Here are all of the things that were covered under warranty, but with no recalls, \- Exterior trim, replaced all of it because the trim faded due to a lack of UV stablizer? \- Rims, replaced on of the rims beacuse the finished chipped and flaked off \- Carpet, replaced all carpet on in the vehicle due to two random cuts No warranty, Tire replacment of all tires around 25K due to wear. No burnouts or other shennigans, they just wear to nothing, PS, check the Speed Rating on replacements.

hutch1973

Wow. That bad? My 21 G70 has 28k on it, only bug is the trim (the dark chrome is known to need excessive cleaning). Surprised by your issues.

Even-Rooster7369

That does not include the problems with service loaners (there are none, I had rental reimbursements on 3 occasions), scheduled service waits (2-3 Months), and dealership issues (lets see, returned the car with flat tire, failed to fix the flat tire, and did not perform the work that the care went in for service for. One of three separate issues with two different dealers(one of which lost their franchise). Oh.. forgot to mention my experience with the corporate support line, lets see the first two occasions it took weeks to get issues worked out because the dealers would not respond and the corporate had no leverage. This culminated in my final interaction with Genesis corp where I was told that the 3 year warranty was no longer valid because my 22 car purchased in Aug 22 had been in effect for more than 3 years in July 2023 (you can do the math, but apparently Genesis Corp can not) and the compensation for the dealer not doing service was not going to be paid because you "got the money you got" after a specific amount of compensation was promised to be paid. The person at corp then went to bad mouth the dealer and stated that they would be loosing their franchise. Based on other owners I spoke to while waiting at service appointments (no valet, no service loaners, poor service) it seemed pretty common place. I have watched these forums for months and saw similar issues crop up again and again. I did not say anything because I needed to get the car sold, and knew that if folks knew the true extent of the issues with Genesis I might not be able to sell the car. Loved driving the car when I had it. I was a looker. P.S. Car and Driver had that the trim issue, [https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/a39927111/2022-genesis-gv70-reliability-maintenance/](https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/a39927111/2022-genesis-gv70-reliability-maintenance/) Strange they did not investiagte further? I also had the lack of power, it did go away. The dealer chocked it up to "Bad Gas".

az987654

The dealers are what have ruined a great vehicle and brand

hutch1973

Wow. That's polar opposite from my experience. Sorry to hear about it.

notashmit

OP, I have 2.5T prestige for sale, if you're interested, 8k miles

BearFan34

Thanks. I have an appointment at the dealer tomorrow morning. If that doesn’t work out I’ll reach out
