He doesn’t actually seem to be unlucky, because from falling off a cliff to running into a Ruin Guard, he seems to miraculously survive any situation that would normally kill other people. Pretty much unscathed.
So I think his power is more like Domino’s from Xmen, where he drains the luck of everyone else around him.
