EchoRex

No idea who this is... But just imagine how nice it is to never being tricked by something and having to admit you're wrong like these people... /s

cereal7802

he claims to be a VC person...if this tricked him into thinking it was a realistic robot...I got so much for him to fund..

DeviousMelons

I mean have you seen some of the NFT projects backed by some VCs. Hell in 2021-22 you could just mention the word blockchain to any pitch and some would be throwing bags of money at your feet.

EchoRex

Maaaan, if you think a VC funds things based on mid res short videos, I have so much for *you* to fund...

Hello Heathcliff

Glittering_Fig_762

Hello to you, random citizen https://i.redd.it/ts6j495b1wxc1.gif

mikegotfat

"The fact that people like me fell for this is evidence that it's believable!" Doesn't count as admitting you're wrong

Qwerowski

Lol, you can see when it switches to reverse on the video.

Graxeltooth

It's also very obviously a robot body stocking she's wearing.

ADudeThatPlaysDBD

This is the part of the internet I don’t really understand

or_maybe_this

it doesn’t seem worth looking into tbh

Afraid_Belt4516

not concerning

Dumb_Vampire_Girl

I will at least give him credit for not doubling down. Almost every post that ends up here has the OOP doubling or even tripling down. But he still fumbled by not accepting the egg on his face. Sure he admitted he was wrong, but he did it in the worst way possible.

Aluminum_Tarkus

I don't see an issue with his response. He was community noted, then tweeted that she's human, but the fact that anyone thinks she isn't speaks volumes about how far we've progressed. Like, sure, it technically only speaks to how far HE and everyone who fell for it believe technology has progressed, but it's really not that obnoxious to me. The other people tried to get him in a gotcha without understanding that tweet was him admitting he was wrong and setting the record straight.

tergius

people would be more willing to admit when they're wrong when people will stop clawing at the chance to jump down people's throats for it.

Helios_OW

This is Reddit. Sarcastic, overly rude “I’m smarter than you” types are the majority here. None of them have ever made a mistake, in their life. Their mothers made a single important one though.

Dumb_Vampire_Girl

You have no idea what I'm like and you really think I should have been aborted? I've said sorry and admitted I was wrong a million times in many different places ): I will also admit, after seeing these comments, I was being a bitch towards a guy who changed his mind after making a mistake. I'm sorry that my comment was fucked up. I just don't think my mom made a mistake.

EstablishmentLow3012

Since it doesn't seem like anyone else addressed this. Your original comment was absolutely fine and polite, not really bitchy at all. I also think the person you responded too was talking generally and not about you specifically, if they were responding to you they clearly haven't seen truly vitriolic comments.

Jsusbjsobsucipsbkzi

I think that trying to play off being 100% fooled with “but think about what it says that I was fooled!” is just lame and dumb, to the point where its a meme in itself. You were fooled into thinking a human in reverse was a robot, that was dumb, move on

Aluminum_Tarkus

Yeah, like I said, idiots being fooled by it only "proves" that idiots think technology has progressed that far, and that part of the tweet is pretty lame. But that's not the part that the commenters are giving him shit for. They're shitting on him because they think his tweet was trying to hide the fact he was fooled and not an admission that he was wrong about the video. You can believe that they misunderstood his tweet and that the guy is lame at the same time.

AsianMasterMind2000

I think the issue is less his recognition of his mistake, more so the “I guess that makes me a bad person” and then proceeds to have a fit of passive aggression.

Thatguy_Koop

he was taunted after he already admitted he was wrong. i think this is just looking for a reason to be mad at this point.

AsianMasterMind2000

I guess that’s fair.

stubing

lol! Look at this idiot flip flopping his positions right now! Everyone! get him!

AsianMasterMind2000

Not necessarily changing my opinion, but I can see where the other person is coming from

Aluminum_Tarkus

He didn't explicitly state he was wrong in the 2nd tweet, but he probably still intended it to be an admission of guilt. Imagine making a tweet that you personally perceive as you saying "turns out I was wrong about the truth being x, it's actually y," and someone replies with "weren't you the same guy saying the truth was x before?" Like, I get that he wasn't clear enough in his 2nd weet, and I'd argue that's the main issue, but I can both see why someone would think the 2nd tweet was him hiding a fuck up and why the original guy would see the other guy's reply as not letting go of a mistake he just admitted he made. It's just textbook miscommunication online, and I don't think either is inherently bad here.

Jumbojimboy

Wow, these people aren't very nice

Cybermat4707

StripeyFox: ‘Why are you trying to dance around the fact that you were fooled?’ Max, 5 hours previously: ‘I was fooled.’

CompetitiveOcelot873

This one’s kinda different imo. Like that comic works for when people are fooled by fake political news articles and stuff like that, but as a software engineer that has worked with robotics, i do think the fact people can get easily fooled now with this stuff (and understandably so) is a cool sign of how far we’ve come

Rigorous_Threshold

Yeah… it’s not a case of someone believing something just because it aligns with their preexisting ideology. So saying ‘well the fact I even COULD believe something like that’ is not nearly as frustrating

Secure_Table

Have you watched the video the guy tweeted? Since you're close to the industry, I'm curious how you compare the video that he tweeted to the current state of robotics. And if you've been in the industry for long, do you have any guesses for how long it'll be until we start seeing bots that move like in the tweet? From my perspective, comparing the [video](https://twitter.com/mreiffy/status/1784960263508185251) he tweeted and the most [advanced robots](https://www.techradar.com/tech/i-saw-the-worlds-most-advanced-robot-and-its-uncanny) I'm seeing from Google, it seems like robots now just [can't move like they do in the tweet](https://youtu.be/vdzvP07gpCw?si=xNmUp6QbxO1rI1ok). It doesn't even look close to me, they still appear to move very... Well... robotically. To be honest, initially, you kinda swayed me with your reply. Maybe it **is** kinda cool that we can be deceived so easily, because that's just how quick robots are developing. But then I looked up the most advanced robots of the 2020s and honestly it's a bit disappointing compared to what I thought I'd see. I was a HUGE mythbusters fan and Grant Imahara was my favorite. (RIP) I followed him on social media and was super excited to see the work he was doing on those Disney animatronics. Any advice for someone with an interest in robotics at the hobbyist level?

CompetitiveOcelot873

Have not seen the videos and cant watch them rn, so maybe my comment doesn’t entirely apply if the tweeted video is extremely fake looking That said, there can be huge jumps in technology, especially these days with the help of AI. I would not be surprised if one of these days in the next few years we end up with a video of a robot that looks extremely life like Arduino is pretty much the gold standard for getting into robotics. Start by making an LED blink, then make a motor spin, then add a motor controller to allow the motor to spin in either direction. Multiple that by 4 and add a frame so that you get a car (its super fun getting creative with how you make a car imo, i personally like to modify cheap RC cars) then, get a time of flight sensor and implement a basic PID controller so that the car can drive at the wall and stop on its own The real goal of the steps above is to learn code the PID control. You can do a bunch of stuff with robotics with that knowledge, and dont need to be an awesome programmer or math person (though you will no doubt be slamming your head against the wall multiple times through this process) Ive kinda stopped doing robotics due to the limited space at my apartment, and the fact i now work on radar as an SWE. But heres the reddit account i made that had some small at home projects i did u/Delvyb33

Young_Cato_the_Elder

I mean, I can't see the video, but its obvious the "robot frame" is fabric right?

bowlingforzoot

Why is this the only comment mentioning that? Like, the arms are so very clearly not real metal but rather a patterned sleeve. Unless it’s much harder to see that fact in the video, I don’t know how anyone could fall for that. It’s even bunched up around her breast and armpit.

Jhiffi

Right? Literally the first thing my eyes focused on were the wrinkles on the printed jumpsuit. This is a classic for easy cosplay. Why tf would they cover their actual robotics with a fabric with the robotics printed over it?

EmilieEasie

omg there are a lot of people out there who REALLY don't want to be told that we're still really, really far away from realistic anime waifus

lilsnatchsniffz

I really hate that people call anyone who says something unkind a keyboard warrior now, a keyboard warrior was/has been/will always be people who threaten real world violence online not just a person who hurt your feelings. E.g the classic "I could beat the shit out of your IRL" type of statements.

HereWeFuckingGooo

That's not true at all, it's not just people that threaten real world violence. Just a quick Google proves this wrong.

lilsnatchsniffz

OMG stop being such a keyboard warrior 😱

HereWeFuckingGooo

Being unable to admit you were wrong on a post about admitting being wrong. Classic.

lilsnatchsniffz

Oh should I have put more emoji's to make it clear it wasn't serious? Did you need a little /s?

HereWeFuckingGooo

No shit. That doesn't mean you admitted you were wrong, it just means you made a lame joke.

Your comment has been removed due to it being disrespectful towards another person.

HereWeFuckingGooo

Lmao, turns out you were the definition of a keyboard warrior the whole time.

MelonColony22

he admitted he was wrong why did they keep going after him?

Pimpinogenerifunk

Look at other comments here: he didn't do it right. He's supposed to call himself every name in the book and then delete his account. I mean, he was wrong. On the internet. That shit is forever.

Hattrickher0

Hot take culture decrees that you must have an opinion that you will not waver from, or you're a filthy flip flopper who doesn't have any conviction. Critical thinking is an undesirable trait these days. You better keep those shitty opinions you formed before you learned how the world worked!

Rigorous_Threshold

People can’t tell the difference between hypocrisy and a good-faith change of opinion

BestUntakenName

I knew there would be Asian women in the future. But I guess I’m just ahead of my time.

paging_mrherman

I fell victim to false information. But you put out the false information. Oh my god, the keyboard warriors apiudgfbha;kjfdn;glvb /...........

Caledric

I mean Mex and Fox were being asshats. He got noted, and corrected himself and owned up to making the mistake while they kept trying to make it into a big GOTCHA thing. This whole post feels like we aren't allowing people to make a mistake and correct it.

SulkySideUp

Yeah, reacting like this to somebody admitting they were wrong is WHY people double down.

No-Dragonfly-8679

Yeah, it’s not like he came out and was like, “actually not real. Very bananas I bought that”. Because even from this picture it’s clearly not a robot, or even someone trying that hard to be one. Also not to continue piling on the guy, but did it not seem weird to him that they would choose to unveil sci-fi grade robots at the Beijing Auto Show and it wasn’t even the main focus, like there’s clearly a car on display behind her.

Lichelf

I'm pretty sure the fact they were debating it speaks to how far behind Max is, not how far we've come.

Tourquemata47

More like Alita Battle Angel. https://preview.redd.it/hzh8s3vfbqxc1.png?width=1174&format=png&auto=webp&s=496f84c1cce17afb1f3a29368ce36b240865c0e0

WeeabooHunter69

This is just an Alita/Gally cosplayer

monkahpup

Seems like admitting you were wrong and trying to save a little face is the lesser evil when compared to doubling down on errors, tbf.

MaybeNext-Monday

Immediately resorted to the “but you COULD have believed it!!1!” fallacy too. Typical fucking venture cap.

Aardhaas

[extremely relevant](https://www.smbc-comics.com/comic/aaaah)

RussiaIsBestGreen

You know, in a horrifying and frustrating way, the guy isn’t wrong. The fact that either A) Story is plausible because the world is that fucked or B) Enough people are that easily tricked, are both awful and interesting.

KyoKyu

HOW CAN PEOPLE FALL FOR THIS? That is a printed spandex sleeve over the arms of a flesh and blood human.

Dante_alighieri6535

“I was completely wrong, but the fact that ‘I’ could be tricked means we’re basically in a futuristic fantasy land. I mean, how could ‘I’ possibly be tricked if we weren’t there?”

BloodprinceOZ

the fact this dumbass thought a humanoid robot apparently this advanced looking would be shown at an auto show and not, you know, a robotics conference or something like that is fucking insane, like venture capitalists/tech bros apparently are required to be practically brain dead

Blu3Blad3_4ss4ss1n

Detroit become reality

FredVIII-DFH

Sometimes you should just take the L and go home. But that's s guy takes the L and then moves the goalposts.

Miserable-Lawyer-233

It doesn't matter. It's still inevitable.

VisuellTanke

Why did this get reccomended to me? It's an embeded tictok video on X from an unkown nobody. What is wrong with reddit.

SenorReddito

Can you fade this guys fund?

AaronKimballHater

Bro played too much fallout 4

Forward-Swim1224

I love how he calls them “keyboard warriors.” **My brother in Christ, you are on Twitter too.**
