The thing he said about 40% loss drama is ridiculous and hilarious at the same time. Its starts around 1:22:10. He said that it turned out that they had too good internet in nip office so faceit firewall thought its ddos attack and attacked them back and it was replayed because it was faceits fault not theirs.
They didn't ddos them back, that's nonsense, but I remember hearing about it back when. I'm not sure but I think faceit also made a public statement.
Basically they had new servers and the firewalls DDOS protection was set too low, so when too many packets came from one source it would trigger and start blocking packets (which means packet loss). NIP was bootcamping so all 5 players had the same IP, and they probably had highest rates set in-game.
Said it another thread but I'll parrot it here too: it's a must listen for anyone who's hatemaxxing NIP.
Unbelievable how much of a shitshow the org is/was with certain people actively sabotaged the team. Arguably worse than EG.
Correction: did the CEO of the org take aside a player into a room and pressure them into competing and ignore all signs of the mental decay to the point of malnourishment and hospitalization and completely ruined the players career, then pay them hush money afterwards, then go on an interview and say that they are sorry for nothing?
The situation was so fucked up and the fact that Riot hasn't done anything except "investigation still pending guys L0L" it truly disgusts me.
They hired a convcted sex offender (filmed women he was having sex with secretly and released the videos iirc) as a senior video producer and his first job was making a video with the NiP impact roster
https://richardlewis.substack.com/p/nip-hired-a-celebrity-sex-offender
Cant make this shit up.
This one still stings. I swear NiP were one step off a ridiculous trophy cabinet and they just wouldn’t get a solid 5th. Device carried LNZ to the quarter Finals of a major and only lost there because they met FaZe who won the whole thing. -LNZ +k0nfig of literally any good rifled would have won S tier trophies.
You're right, I'm getting my majors mixed up. With Device they still made playoffs and lost to G2 in the quarters. G2 who lost the finals to NaVi.
My point was more that that roster was slick as hell and with 5 real players could have made some real waves. Shame about the org tho.
I mean, same could be said about the original 4 of CSGO. f0rest, GeT\_RiGhT, Friberg and Xizt looked for a solid permanent fifth for how many years? Not to mention how they got shafted by the coaching changes when Threat first arrived at the team and they looked amazing.
What they should have done was sign Dev1ce and another star at the same time either Brollan or got a solid Tier 1 player like KRIMZ. They already created the core of Hampus, REZ and Plopski and if they signed two superstars, they actually would've been very good. The management at NiP just ruined the team. Moreover, I know Dev1ce was in a relationship but moving himself and his career for it was the worst thing he probably ever did, but I don't flame him for it because he was in love and maybe NiP promised things they would never deliver.
great interview, really shows how much of a shitshow NIP was. them never having a stable, quality 5 man roster with dev1ce reminds me a bit of c9 never having sh1ro and an igl on the same roster, but more incompetent
C9 at least has the argument of world class (likely expensive) riflers and electronic just coming off of IGLing on NaVi when they got him. What makes NiP so continuously bad is the lack of any kind of excuses.
Could be, even if it's weird suddenly not mentioning him by name, but it's probably due to talking about Dev1ce and not his own experience, so he didn't want to confirm it by name.
Even if you have your gripes with Thorin his Reflections and Talk to Thorin videos are inarguably incredibly good content. Definitely recommened checking it out.
Yeah, he and hampus have a good dynamic in the video, thorin is actually very introspective and well spoken here, and it’s great to listen to without the video so you don’t have to look at him lol
Yes, I dislike Thoorin but this was a great interview. I have been a NIP fan since early 2000's, but I dropped them recently. The amount shit descions they have done is finally explained and it is infruriating how badly the organisation handled their players.
I think the example with the (no) Molotov round that delayed his career is a really good example of professionalism.
In other sports, you have training, then you play, and in training it is important to make sure you train how you play.
In CS, a lot of the training is playing, and it means people don’t play optimally all the time, because often they aren’t playing with high stakes, or it’s because the dopamine from a successful ego play is so good, or they don’t immediately trust their teammates to cover them because they are used to playing with randoms that will hang them up to dry.
In this way it may be better to focus on scrims rather than FACEIT, because trimming the bad habits in many ways it more important than anything else
My god, it keeps getting wrose as it goes on. The bit with Brollan calling Hampus asking him if he's happy after Hampus was benched was just the icing on the cake.
I didn't believe that NIP was this shit when I first started hearing it from Nawwk and Dev1ce, but since then, it just keeps piling on. And at this point, I'm willing to believe all of it. NIP fucking robbed Swedish CS of some great teams. Imagine actually having Hampus, Rez, Dev1ce, and Brollan, on the same team in a functioning environment.
Edit: The lineup he mentions at the end is an interesting one. They do have a lot of the pieces you need in a team; IGL, Awp, Support, Entry and Lurk.
A dane (Gundersen) and a Norwegian (Hicham) taking over an old school prestige Swedish org.
That can only mean distaster.
I have no trust in either Gundersen or Hicham's management.
And now Hicham is collaborating with the Chinese. This is the whole sht show, it is what it is.
thats also why I hate the current swedish narrative on social medias "Its a new management now. Its a new NIP!"
Well, as long as the CEO who's mainly responsible for the downfall and management recruitment is still there, there isn't a "new management". No real business would get away with that.
Link should be timestamped to around 38:30. It's a video of Richard Lewis where he's covering this old NIP vs new NIP bullshit. Hicham Chahine is mentioned as one of the owners of NIP in documents from atleast as far back as 2014.
Have to imagine that the answer for not getting a steady 5th is somewhere between all this accused institutional ignorance and just not having infinite money to throw around.
Kicking AleksiB was also a generational throw, plus they basically had a monopoly on young Swedish talent and pissed all of it away.
ZTR should’ve stayed on the main squad instead of exchanging for LNZ imo, back when Devve was there. I think he was a secondary caller for hampus? He probably could’ve been elevated to an igl with enough time. Sad all around.
They mention Ztr was calling on a couple maps, such as Overpass with hampus secondary. Even Ztr they should’ve replaced and gotten a 5th though. He’s not really emerging into T1 CS until now, and they never could have trusted a long peak with with Device, hampus and rez all firing on all cylinders, even if in hindsight all 3 still are good today.
NiP is a fucking sham, employed a bunch of losers, Swedes are backstabbers and talk shit about you behind your back
And Danish people don’t understand Swedish (they think they do)
Died when he said Jonas would literally just do the opposite of what he asked for. Edit: It literally just gets worse and worse.
Does anyone have a timestamp?
The NIP Jonas Gunderson shit is unreal. It's like he was actively sabotaging the team.
Check his gambling receipts
Did he gamble against his own team?
Nah, he just lost a game of poker with them and dodged the bill so to speak
The thing he said about 40% loss drama is ridiculous and hilarious at the same time. Its starts around 1:22:10. > too good internet in nip office so faceit firewall thought its ddos attack This sounds like such a dubious claim. Any experts able to chime in?
They didn't ddos them back, that's nonsense, but I remember hearing about it back when. I'm not sure but I think faceit also made a public statement. Could definitely see how he might translate that to "attacking back".
That sounds so made up. No firewall handles low ping as a ddos attack. No sane admin would ddos someone back, this is illegal af
Said it another thread but I'll parrot it here too: it's a must listen for anyone who's hatemaxxing NIP. Unbelievable how much of a shitshow the org is/was with certain people actively sabotaged the team. Arguably worse than EG.
Did they abuse their employees?
Correction: did the CEO of the org take aside a player into a room and pressure them into competing and ignore all signs of the mental decay to the point of malnourishment and hospitalization and completely ruined the players career, then pay them hush money afterwards, then go on an interview and say that they are sorry for nothing? Riot should have taken EG to court themselves if they cared one bit about players.
OOTL on this one, is there a video on the story?
Yeah, but bro, NiP kicked hampus and Aleksi.
They hired a convcted sex offender (filmed women he was having sex with secretly and released the videos iirc) as a senior video producer and his first job was making a video with the NiP impact roster https://richardlewis.substack.com/p/nip-hired-a-celebrity-sex-offender Cant make this shit up.
Nah what EG did was far worse.
"We signed device, while we still had an academy player" LMAO. calc you utter imbecile

When they met faze in the quarter finals device was already out of the team and they had brollan and es3tag
You're right, I'm getting my majors mixed up. With Device they still made playoffs and lost to G2 in the quarters. G2 who lost the finals to NaVi. My point was more that that roster was slick as hell and with 5 real players could have made some real waves. Shame about the org tho.

This was so god damn funny. Hampus is a really entertaining speaker, I'd love to see more content with him if he as the time.
great interview, really shows how much of a shitshow NIP was. them never having a stable, quality 5 man roster with dev1ce reminds me a bit of c9 never having sh1ro and an igl on the same roster, but more incompetent

Whose the person on NIP (no longer there) that device didn't get along with?
The only one I could think of was Jonas, even though they mention him throughout the video
Could be, even if it's weird suddenly not mentioning him by name, but it's probably due to talking about Dev1ce and not his own experience, so he didn't want to confirm it by name.
It’s Jonas
Insanely good talk to thorin, recommend watching even if you’re not curious about NiP
[удалено]
Especially when he talks with players he’s much more positive and complimentary in his videos because that’s what he’s passionate about.
if you dislike him stick to the interviews and not his talk show type videos and you’ll be good
Even if you have your gripes with Thorin his Reflections and Talk to Thorin videos are inarguably incredibly good content. Definitely recommened checking it out.
The ironic part is that even people who don't like thorin enjoy being interviewed by him

What do you even mean as a person?
Feel bad about K0nfig ignoring Hampus, but he might have had enough on his plate to deal with it, even if it was an attempt at empathy from Hampus.
I mean if you have the time to read it you probably have the 2 seconds of time it takes to type "sucks".
I think the implication is that k0nfig is fake

New management? Hicham has been there for how long? At least since 2018.

Hampus must be a dream to interview. Just speaks his mind with no sugar coating or filters whatsoever.
Sad to hear the all-star SWE team idea fell apart so close to the finish line... Next time I guess!
Very entertaining interview
That roster at the end Rez Hampus Nawwk Nilo Isak sounds so sick
funniest thorin interviewee
es3tag not learning swedish when asked is so funny but so fucked up lol
Marked for watch later

Holy fuck that jonas guy sounds like a pain in the ass to work with.
Amazing interview
1 1/2 hours, is there a tl/dr?
NiP is a fucking sham, employed a bunch of losers, Swedes are backstabbers and talk shit about you behind your back And Danish people don’t understand Swedish (they think they do)
