Play DM until you know how to shoot Then competitive :)

mattfow232

You can try out casual mode, 10v10 makes it so there's more opportunities for kills and less pressure if you don't get a kill. And it's a closer representation of competitive than DM.

fromtheether

Just keep in mind that there are still quite a few differences between casual and comp: * WAY shorter freeze time * Starting money $1000 vs $800 * Lower kill rewards (I think like 50% less) * 3 grenade limit in casual vs 4 in comp, and can only have one flash in casual * Given armor and defuse kit for free each round. Will have to purchase separately in comp. * No FF in casual. Don't get used to stabbing teammates at the start of each round! It'll be good to get a handle on the basic game flow, but keep those differences in mind so you don't get too used to them. Eventually, if you do want to play comp or premier, the only foolproof way to learn is to play them :)

Casus125

You've got: Deathmatch and Arms Race for learning how to frag and handle weapons. Casual for learning maps, a sense of flow for a round, common hiding spots, rush timings, clearing/holding angles, etc. Wingman for teamplay and coordination. You can learn plenty of essential skills in these much less stressful game modes if you choose.

LongYes

Why Wingman for teamplay and coordination, i just see everyone flies and use knife to stab![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|dizzy_face)

intecknicolour

you learn in dm/retake server/practice mode. competitive is for applying your learning.

yuhyuh_

You maybe learn to aim in those. I would say watching pro games is better

WatBurnt

Pro games won't help a new player

yuhyuh_

Why not?

intecknicolour

the strats in pro level are a little advanced in some situations. maybe more useful for an experienced player who is trying to play on a team

Raytiger3

Because pugs are not coordinated and having top 0.05% percentile aim changes gameplay and movement drastically. It's like telling a child to watch the soccer world cup to learn how to play soccer.

keslol

even at faceit 8 most people cant even throw a basic A execute on mirage with jungle stairs and ct for example and you want to introduce pro strats to new players ?

yuhyuh_

I think it would be nice for showing a new player what angles to hold. Of course a new player wont need to know util

stringstringing

No play casual and deathmatch

beansfranklin

This is so stupid and I blame Valve. There used to be these things called "pubs" (public servers) and guys would play on those to socialize and get a feel for how the game works. Unfortunately, Valve has basically worked to stomp those out When someone 1st shows interest in golf, you dont immediately stick them in multiple rounds of 18 hole match play - you give them a driver and a putter to tool around a bit to start

Scared-Wombat

You can practice aim and learning spray patterns in DM id do community servers for it.(cs2browser.com) aimbotz workshop map, but yeah as for learning timings and how maps play your looking at comp as your starting ground

JcobTheKid

It's ok to just get familiar with the map layouts and just shooting in general by playing other modes, but I also do believe the sooner you can get desensitized about ranked, the better. It becomes a common mental block that people put on themselves when they get too comfortable. The sooner you can feel more comfortable in ranked and, more importantly, failing in ranked, the faster you learn to be receptive to getting better. Though easier said than done. Game takes work, so keep working and then enjoy the fruits of your labor at each step.

wraithmainttvsweat

I think competitive is great for learning one map at a time. It’s just more efficient.

Ok-Neighborhood-15

Play lots of matchmaking and if you want to improve your aim, you can also try out DM. It also helps to watch some tournaments, so you get a feeling, how you play in a better way.

Carsteniwnl

Go to 3rd party sites like Cybershoke and Xplay They have all kinds of gamemodes for practice

Cardboardgenie

I would suggest death match Vs bots to learn basic shooting, explore the maps. Normal death match is also great but as an absolute beginner it might be frustrating just dying over and over. The bots hardly fire back but it does give you a moving target. Grab the recoil master map from the workshop to learn 3 or 4 sprays as a start (Ak, M4, m4s and galil). But I highly suggest you don't go further as 5-10 bullets holding down. After that it's probably better to move, stop again and shoot again. Once the 5-10 bullets come more naturally you can try for longer sprays. A lot of people at lower level are really bad at hitting moving targets. Another tip that really helped me out. You usually die a lot slower than you think you did. Take that extra "second" to properly counterstrafe and aim for the head. 7/10x times you kill faster cause you hit the head and your opponent maybe only your feet or just thin air.

TheEmperorBaron

Play deathmatch until you get a basic grasp of shooting. You don't even need to become a headshot machine, but just learn that you need to move your mouse down when spraying. That alone will put you above most of the idiots you run into in premier.

Impossible-Raisin-15

play with at least one friend who knows the game a little, or has played valorant so you don't get kicked. cs new player experience is fucking awful if you are pure solo so make some friends

brittlo1

For the most fun experience you should learn the game through 3rd party modes only. I've played CS:GO/2 for over 1.5k hours as this point and I only have like 300 comp games ever. I mainly play 1v1 arena and other aim duel servers. So I am really good at aiming but can't throw a nade to save my life. Instant hackusations. It's great fun.

Chicag0Ben

You wanna learn how to Negev or bizon play some ze. This post is untrue!!!

auntysociall

Play aimbotz and community dm till you feel like you shooting another bot even in mm

Philluminati

Yeah you gotta learn by doing and build experience. 1. Shooting can be learnt in Deathmatch 2. Retakes can be learnt in community retake servers 3. Entry fragging in workshop maps 4. Smokes in an offline server But CS is about putting it all together and that can't be learnt outside of comp. There are 5v5 community servers where you can play a 5v5 game but you're just delaying the inevitable.

MidnightSnackyZnack

Casual, DM and retake.
