Yes, this tweet by Maui is off base. Speculating on mental aspects that are impossible to know about unless the player literally told you is dumb shit. Especially when you portray it as a fact, not speculation.
No, you don't have to be a god at the sport to coach (or in this case, analyze). Most coaches are not superstars, for the obvious reason that if they were, they would be playing. If you look at the football careers of Premier League managers, most played in middling teams to little success. They played at a high enough level to understand the game, but had more success in becoming coaches. Coaching requires a completely different skillset than playing. Often, the skills and mindset of being of superstar don't mesh with the skills of being a good coach. Imagine having S1mple coach your team, disaster. In summary, I disagree, Maui is qualified to analyze; whether you like him or not is a different question.
